Why the elusive 5 stars? Let me paint you a picture. Had a funky rattle from my Tacoma. Figured that heading directly to the dealership would be the best move from a diagnostic point of view because hey, they made the thing. Wrong. After two hours 'they' said my cat converter was shot (and the source of the rattle), debris in the muffler was a casual contributing factor and for a cool $1500 they'd swap in a certified Toyota cat. No thanks. Gave Debbie an e-mail and was quoted $260 out the door for a new cat. That's more like it. But wait, the funky rattle didn't stop even after swapping out the converter. I brought it to Debbie's attention who promptly had me come back in to have another look. One of their mechanics (Don) spent 15 seconds under the truck so I could reproduce the rattle, said 'That's your muffler', and said they had another aftermarket muffler in stock ready to go. I OK'd the recommendation, had a seat and after being impressed with the amount of sparks coming from the undercarriage of my 235k mile truck and 30 minutes later, was back in the driver seat with a freshly installed Flowmaster muffler. I'm still not sure why, but the cost of the muffler swap was zero. Parting words were 'We appreciate you and just keep bringing us your business' but they have known that for two years now that they are my go to. Beyond thankful and beyond impressed. Once again..stellar service. On a very busy day for the shop, the crew got me squared away with a battery problem. The parking lot was over flowing with customers cars. I figured I wouldn't see my car for a few days. I hated to ask for an oil change too, but Debbie added it on the list. A few hours later I got a call, the problem stated and a quote for a new battery. After giving the ok for the battery, Debbie told me she'd call back soon when everything was done, the oil change had already been done!! I'm telling you, what else can you ask for? Went in expecting a resonator replacement at the minimum due to an unknown rattle. They immediately found a part of subframe that rubbed the exhaust on acceleration. 30 minutes & a couple wacks with a hammer later & problem solved. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly read more

Called to get a muffler installed but never got past the automated phone menu. I hung up when they said you could not wait for you vehicle to be serviced. Wait what, you can't wait for your vehicle. This shop was referred to me my a trusted mechanic and this was my first visit. The trusted mechanic told me they allowed you to buy your own parts. Because parts were on order they made an exception. I dropped the car off the day before so car was there at 7:30 in the morning. I also had a rattling noise under the hood. I got a call at 10:00 to say that the noise was the alternator and that it would be $293 plus two hours of labor. Due to working, I later called a local parts store and was told the price was $185. So what's the difference between a $300 alternator and a $185 alternator? That's a 60% mark up! I called the shop back and asked them if it was new. I was told it was a rebuilt and a brand that they used and liked. I don't mind paying for a mark up of 15 to 20% but 60%?? Besides service was not that great. They called me around 4:00 to say it was ready. When I arrived to pay for the work I questioned the cost of the alternator and was told it was a good price for a rebuilt and a new one would have cost me more. I told them in the beginning when I made the appointment I was looking for a new mechanic. I wasn't impressed with the service or the way I was treated as a new customer....... read more

I rated Ace almost 3 years ago with a glowing review and 4 stars. After dealing with them all this time, I regret I didn't give them 5 stars from the beginning. Their prices are very reasonable and they have never pushed anything on me that I didn't need. In fact, they have often looked over issues, made a simple adjustment and charged me nothing. They deserve every dollar they charge. They are fair, reasonable, prompt, and experienced. If all small businesses provided this level of service, large corporations would never succeed. I had a previous review up and don't see it now; but that's okay because I have been back to Ace Auto Air and would love to give another compliment to this great place!! As I stated before; we have found a new and great place to take our automobiles and won't look beyond Ace Auto Air moving forward. They are honest, helpful and go over and above to make sure my husband and I are happy with the work done. We've had our A/C fixed and at a very reasonable price; the old burned out part was provided. We just had another issue fixed with ease and efficiency. I will recommend Ace Auto Air to anyone - they do more than tend to A/C. Debbie; thank you for always being upbeat and greating with a smile and a big thank you to your guys - I want to let you know that I appreciate it so much that when the work is done; my van is backed into the parking space because I can easily pull out. Being new to the area I recently contacted Ace based on the reviews here on the site. I started with an email to them during the weekend. I was greeted with a reply early Monday morning and arranged a time to take my car to them for a quote on some exhaust work. I've got a Mini Cooper which Debbie said they don't see often but they were willing to see what they could do. I drove it to them and within the hour I was told what would need to be done and left with a quote. (that wasn't too bad actually) Not really wanting to go with a factory exhaust as quoted I asked if I purchased the replacement parts and materials if they could/would install. They were fine with that and quoted me their hourly rate and that it was about 2 hours work. A couple of days later I dropped off the car and everything I'd purchased and was pleasantly surprised when I was called later that day that it was done and they had no issues. They even bear their own quoted amount of time and charged a partial hourly rate!!! I will use them for any air or muffler needs in the future just based on this interaction. read more

I took my car in to Ace Auto Air and Muffler because it was running rough. They replaced my spark plugs, my wires and my coil but it was still running rough and my A/C wasn't working when I picked the car up. Just mysteriously stopped working when it was in their shop. I took it back and they said they replaced a bad wire, but it was still running rough and they had no idea why. They also said they don't know why my A/C stopped working, saying they didn't do anything to it. I found one of the new spark plugs jammed too tight and the wire for it wasn't making contact with it. So only 3 out of 4 cylinders were working. I fixed that so all cylinders were working but it was still running rough. I took it to a dealer who said the spark plug was seized even though I had fixed that hadn't told them and also hadn't told them who had worked on the car. Weird. How did they know the first mechanic had jammed in that spark plug? Later I reseated the electrical plug for the coil and worked the air manifold intake valve and somehow the engine ran smooth after that. read more
