I understand that chiropractics depend on a series of visits. That said, I didn't get anything out of the initial one-hour $200 (out of pocket) visit that I wouldn't have gotten from a deep tissue massage elsewhere, + perhaps I would have avoided the cluster of fingertip bruises on my ass + 2 on my outer thigh. But my real qualms are with the way Ace is run. 1) Lackluster COVID prevention Arrived on time + had to wait in small waiting room with a rotation of 3 people. Temperatures were not checked at door or even inside. No verbal confirmation asked regarding virus symptoms. Later I was (mistakenly) left to wait in the gym area, where I was told to sit next to a guy exercising even though the rest of the room was empty. (More on that later.) 2) Clinic is FREEZING 2 staff members acknowledged this, but said doctor likes it that way. Too bad for lightly clad patients who hardly get to move for an hour. I was on the verge of shivering after 1/2 hr. 3) Lack of identification As I was passed from one specialist to another, I did not know who exactly who I was being treated by. Staff introduced themselves by name, but did not identify themselves like, "I'm the evaluation specialist," "I'm the massage therapist" etc. When I was sat next to the guy exercising in the gym area, he started talking to me with the ease of someone who worked there, but wasn't wearing anything to identify him as an employee. I started twirling my ankle as I waited for I wasn't sure what. He remarked on my ankle twirling and started asking questions like he was a PT. Then he got up and went in the office. Another guy in scrubs said hi in passing and asked how it was going. Only later did I find out he was the doctor. 4) Insensitivity to women After evaluation, I was shown into a low-lit massage room + told to remove my shirt + lay facedown in preparation for some guy to come in (the message therapist). That's fucked up. A patient should meet someone who's going to treat her face to face before he begins slathering her with lotion. I made a point of sitting up and making eye contact when we greeted each other. He would have just said hello to the back of my head and started in otherwise. I also made a point of letting him know where it really hurt as he worked. But didn't ease up or respond with something like, "I'm sorry, but this has to be worked through," but more like, "yep, all those tight muscles," and breeze along, not realizing the implications of someone essentially saying, "You're hurting me." If I was a rape victim or something like that, I would have been freaking out. When he asked if I'd experienced any trauma, I almost laughed out loud at his clueless choice of words. Instead I paused to allow him to clarify, which he did--he meant was my back hurting due to a car accident or other specific incident. Another clueless instance was when he asked if it was okay if some lotion got on my bra. I said yes. He got lotion on it, then said, "Actually, you can just take it off if you want." He did not mean this in a sexual way, rather it confirmed what a sack of potatoes on the table I was to him, but either way... I have no problem taking off my bra for a massage, but no, I don't *want to*, thank you, midstream once there's already lotion on it. The massage ended with leg adjustments, at which he commented, "So limber...," which again, could have been taken in a very creepy way. Cluelessness, particularly from a woman's perspective, was also an issue with the doctor. He asked if I was comfortable with neck adjustments, mentioning that the knuckle-cracking sounds scared some patients. I said it was fine, and he--buff guy with gold chain around his neck--put me in something like a headlock. No pain at all, but I suspect I know the real reason some patients find that scary. Then came some bad advice: When driving, hold the wheel low, not at 10 and 2, to improve posture. No wonder half a chiropractor's business comes from car accidents. read more

A friend recommended me Dr Mike, I have been hesitating to come, but after my first visit, my pain has dropped half. Dr Mike has magical hands, everything he touches heals. This was my first experience with a Chiropractor and I had no idea what to expect! Would I be in more pain post appointment than I was when I arrived? Would I be able to drive after? I was nervous.. it turns out, I had no reason to be. I arrived to the office and I was promptly greeted by the staff. I filled out some simple paperwork asking me about my ailments and I was taken back to start my treatment. The process consisted of three parts: Part 1 - Meet and Electrify! I was taken to a room where Dr. Mike entered within a minute of me taking a seat. He spoke with me at length asking why I was there (I fell in the shower) and he pointed to his very lifelike skeletal model pointing out where he believed I hurt myself. He then set me up with (2) rounds of electric therapy which was a blissful experience. You simply lay there and let the electrodes pulse the discomfort out of your body. About 30 minutes later, I was ready for my next step. Part 2 - Deep Tissue Massage I was lead to a second room with a massage table and soothing versions of popular songs playing int he background. The masseuse came in and gave me a very relaxing massage. He made sure I was comfortable with the pressure and when the massage was finished I felt as if my stress had melted away. I was ready for my final step in the process. Part 3 - The adjustment The last part of my visit consisted of the actual adjustment itself. I was taken to a third room where I laid on a table and the doctor got to work. He turned me around a few different ways and did his adjustments. It was crazy hearing all of the "cracks" but when all was said and done, I felt 10x better leaving than when I arrived. So now I totally understand why this place has 5 star reviews and this is why I love Yelp. Because I totally trust the sum of everyone's experiences. My experience at ACE and with Dr. Michael could not have been better. Back in November, I called and spoke to Dr. Michael because I had recently been experiencing pain in my achilles tendon that has not gone away for a month. I believe I overstretched it in Pilates Reformer class and aggravated it walking on the beach. But since it hadn't gone away in a couple months, I started to get concerned. I had never gone to PT before, but since my insurance had an allowance for it, I thought it was worth checking out. Dr. Michael spent some time on the phone with me asking me questions to assess the situation and suggest some at-home treatment I could try before coming in for a free consultation so he could make a determination of what is needed. He was warm and professional and I was pleasantly surprised he spoke to me directly on the phone and gave me treatment advice on that first call. I started going in for PT once a week since November and just ended my weekly visits in the new year since I am feeling better! My insurance (Anthem) covered the costs besides my $30 co-pay which I think was well worth the visits. The hour+ visits began with electro-therapy (to tire the calf muscles and the muscles around the ankles), followed by a focused massage to work through the scar tissue. Painful, but in a good way. The scar tissue in the area around my tendon was greatly reduced in the month or so of PT at ACE. I am SO happy that I found Dr. Michael's office. He is so kind and personable and also very knowledgeable about the anatomy. He was able to offer advice for exercises, the shoes I should wear, post-exercise care, etc.. I also was able to text him after workouts or if I had any issues - he is truly invested in his patient care and seems to really love what he does - helping people through their injuries. I always find when people are passionate about their work, they are usually great at it, too! Natalie at the front desk was always lovely and helpful over the phone and in person. They were always able to accommodate my appointment requests and make sure I got in when I needed to. I will definitely recommend ACE and Dr. Michael to any friends who may find themselves with injuries - from minor to major. I know he has worked with people in major accidents. In my case, this was a mild injury, but was irritating me and I was worried it could lead to something more serious. I'm glad I got it under control early. I am still monitoring the healing on my achilles tendon and I feel a sense of relief that if there are any issues, I can come back to Dr. Michael! If you need PT, you need Dr Michael!!!!! read more

I've been seeing a Chiro for years back on the East Coast. I'm extremely picky with who I choose. After much research, I found Dr. Mike and his clinic in Glendale. There is so much more involved in therapy than just hearing your bones crack. He takes the time to show you what's going on, treats your problem areas, and provides exercise recommendations to help strengthen those problem areas. My problem is chronic Migraines and neck tension. He's helped alleviate the frequency and intensity of my headaches in just 2 sessions by focusing therapy on my upper back. The electro-frequency machine, roller-table, and massage therapist get your muscles nice and tired before alignment begins. Alignment is painless and when you leave the clinic, you are on a new level of relaxed and on your journey to pain-free living. Did I mention the CBD his office offers? I just started coming here about a month ago and OHH how I love it! Not only are the hours very convenient for those who have daytime jobs, the quality of service is amazing and very efficient. Each treatment is scheduled one after the other with little to no wait time. First you have the EMS Machine, Deep Tissue Massage (AMAZING!!!), and lastly the Adjustment! Everyone here is so great and helpful. I really feel like they are trying to help me out and not just get my money like other places I've been to. I was having pretty bad muscle spasms and wanted to get those fixed before I visit family in the Philippines and this definitely resolved all my problems. I had a wonderful experience at Ace Chiro Clinic. I was promptly greeted by the staff. I filled out the necessary paperwork and in 5 mins was escorted to the exam room. The temperature in the office was comfortable. I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about. In 10 mins, I was greeted by Dr. K who went over a thorough assesment of my condition. I was pleasantly surprised by the attention by the staff. I was given a heating pad treatment and staff checked in to see if I was ok. Superb customer service! I came to my second session and it has been amazing! The neck pain i have been having on the left side is gone and I'm able to turn my head towards my left shoulder without agitation. Can't say how grateful I am in coming across this location. The staff from start to finish make you feel welcomed and at peace. The front office is affable, competent, and efficient. You'll get text reminders prior to your appointment and on the occasion that I've had to reschedule, it was done quickly and without a hassle. I've been treated by Dr. Michael Keklikian on every visit and am impressed by his ability to zero in on the problem, prescribe an effective treatment, and gradually bring you along the path to recovery. I like that he works out too and can relate to some of the aches and pains we experience, while at the same time understanding our desire to get back to working out as soon as possible. My visits consist of muscle stimulation, laying on a table where a roller goes up and down your back, and being physically adjusted. I have had neck pain for quite some time now. I've seen activator chiropractors for it and always found temporary relief from them. But more recently, my neck has been getting worse and activator wasn't cutting it. I needed to try something different. Tried Ace Chiropractic and was immediately impressed. Dr. Mike sat down with me and explained the trouble using 3D muscle models, and knew exactly what I needed. I was given a massage with Ted, who works wonders, used some machine that relaxed my muscles (and felt amazing) and then had my adjustment. I gotta say, I felt INCREDIBLE after that. I started coming here about a month ago after an L5-S1 microdiscectomy because it was close to my office and the yelp reviews were impressive. Dr. Michael is truly professional and put together an extensive rehab program using a variety of techniques to break down scar tissue, relieve tight muscles and prevent spasms! He gave a fair warning that some parts of the program (i.e. myofascial release) would be very unpleasant, but I have left every appointment feeling loose and relaxed and like I am making progress in my post-operative recovery. Do not come here expecting spa-style treatment, go see Dr. Michael if you are aching or in pain and need well-thought out treatment and meaningful results. For the record, I have seen 5 other chiros/physical therapists over the years and none have incorporated as many different treatments/approaches to rehabilitation into single appointments as they do at ACE. This place is magical. I tried out this place when I realized that my posture issues were getting more severe and massages alone weren't fixing the back pain alone. Dr. Michael and Dr. Ken are magic and great at what they do. Both of them spotted my problems with just a glance, and could give me a full run down of what I can do at home to help fix it (various stretches/exercises) as well as a therapeutic massage followed by adjustments in order to help start the process. They never pressure you into scheduling return visits unless you really want them, no products were pushed on me, I totally felt like my health was the utmost priority. I highly recommend them. There is abundant parking, through a validated lot (validation doesn't cover all of it) but if you have time there is plenty of street parking around the office. Went back for another visit, once again Dr Ken ironed me out in a rolling pin like fashion that left me feeling way better than when I went in initially. I hadn't gone to get adjusted for several months because of heavy work/moving apartments so it definitely snowballed with several headaches one after the other. Ace is the best chiropractic clinic I've been. I've been dealing with chronic pain in my shoulders and neck for about 1.5 year on and off now. I've tried several different clinics but none of them was able to really help me. Ace, however, gets my issues fixed. It usually takes a couple to three sessions max and then I am back as new. The problem comes back again 3 to 5 months later but that's more of my own issues with life style and posture. Dr. Michael is the only chiro so far that's been able to give me any relief. But I was pleasantly surprised by a more extensive visit. After the initial exam I was able to get thorough answers to all of my questions. I was able to learn not only what problems I was having, but how to get better and how to prevent the new injuries from reoccurring. A lot of chiropractors seem to want to get you in and out quickly and make money from you coming back over and over again to get your back adjusted. Here they seem to genuinely hope not to see you again for months or years because they want you to improve your long term health, not just fix the relieve the current symptoms. I used to go to chiropractor maybe 5 times a year for my shoulders/hunch/back which ultimately were the root cause for most of my migraines. Then my personal trainer recommended us try Dr. Mike Keklikian just to get an adjustment. Man!!! Now I know that not every chiropractor knows what they are doing. Every time I leave his office I feel rejuvenated. They offer a massage therapy as well which I don't use because I almost never have the extra hour but Dr. Mike's adjustments seem to do the trick. So now I religiously book an appointment every month since my insurance covers it and I get the best of it!
