On Wednesday morning, I called Sam, and he had two technicians at my house within a few hours with a very reasonable quote for the repair. They looked at the panel and said it was too old to replace, and that the door itself was in bad shape. They strongly recommended a new door and motor (they said the motor had to be replaced because of a new law passed in 2018, even though ours was from 2015). The guys seemed nice enough, so I believed them. But I wanted a second quote. ABC Garage Door came out next. I didn't mention anything about the first company. Jaime, the owner, looked at the situation and said I didn't need a new door, just the one panel reinforced. I asked, "No new door?" He said, "Well, if you want a new door I can get you one, but you don't need one." He came back the next day and reinforced the panel in 30 minutes. It runs perfectly now, no more clunking.
