We assembled the new grill and found that the NG nozzle from our house didn't fit the NG receiving hose from the new grill. Thanks to the excellent technician at ACE we found an adapter for the new grill to safely draw gas from the NG hose at our home. read more

I want to share a very disappointing experience at your Diamond Bar, CA location especially in light of your slogan, "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks." Unfortunately, that was not at all reflected during my visit. I was looking for gutter clips to hang string lights. Your website indicated that the item was available for pickup within 15 minutes at this location. Based on that, I chose to go directly to the store instead of placing an online order. When I asked for assistance, the employees told me they "could not even begin to know where to find it" because the item was buried in the back as a seasonal product. This was already frustrating given that your website clearly showed the item as readily available. I asked if placing an online order for pickup would prompt them to retrieve the item. I was surprised when they told me they would not fulfill it and would simply cancel the order instead. This experience was not only unhelpful but also discouraging. It felt like there was no willingness to assist or find a solution. Additionally, while these gutter clips may be categorized as seasonal, they are commonly used year-round for backyard string light not just for holiday décor. I left the store feeling frustrated and let down. I expected a much higher level of customer service, especially from a brand that emphasizes helpfulness so strongly. It's nice to have an Ace Hardware in your local neighborhood. I come here for quick last minute fix it yourself needs. The staff is super friendly and always available to answer your quick questions. Considering how small Ace is compared to a large home improvement store, you can find whatever you need here. The only bad is that products can cost a bit more when you compare prices to other stores. It's what you pay for with local convenience. But it's also a plus to get personal consultation on buying anything from the perfect tool for your needs or the perfect light bulb. This verses the challenge of finding someone to help you at the big stores. read more

I'm a 23yr Diamond Bar homeowner who's probably patronized my local ACE HARDWARE at least 50 times through the near quarter century we've called this beautiful city home. While I've always counted on the pros at Ace to blow their Lowes + Home Depot counterparts away when it comes to product knowledge, today a dynamic duo at Ace named Jeff & Brianna saved the day like, well, Batman & Robin! After neighboring Auto Zone scoffed at my request to borrow the right sized socket (never mind their "tool loan service!") I sheepishly strolled into Ace. Today's project- Replace my Nissan's driver side sun visor without surrendering to Nissan's extortionate, profiteering $185 price tag! Dilemma? WHICH SIZE and TYPE (metric or Imperial) of socket to employ? Disclosure- While your fave Elite Yelp correspondent clearly knows his way around epicurean delights, cinema and literature...he's about as handy with SOCKETS as, well, Edward Scissorhands would be at origami!! To his everlasting credit, JEFF literally took a small tool cart to MY CAR and helped me pinpoint the correct metric socket size THEN BRIANNA ever so gracefully repositioned a miniscule electric filament back into i proper slot (enabling my visors lighted vanity mirror to work). Called this location 3 times before coming because it was a bit of a drive from me. They kept answering and hanging up. So i said okay ill just go in what ever maybe they are busy. No. 3 employees all sitting at the counter talking. Not a single person in the store. I go find what i needed and go to the counter. They never even broke conversation rang me up and sent me out. Never even made eye contact. The least you have to do in a customer service business is say hello and greet your customer. 3 employees and all of them completely and utterly "busy". read more

I hate going to hardware stores, so I was already dreading the task at hand. I had gotten an Ikea kitchen cabinet set with a plywood countertop that, of course, needed to be cut to a certain size. Should be easy right? I thought I'll take it to Home Depot, they have the tools and I give them the measurements and boom. However, Home Depot made a big stink about it, apparently they don't cut plywood countertops, and even asked to see my receipt for the 90" IKEA countertop, that I so painfully dragged around when I was leaving the building! Now I was in a predicament, stuck with this too large countertop and no means to cut it. I called around and landed at Ace hardware, who so confidently said they could do it. The struggle doesn't end there though, bc the man saw the size and wasn't confident about being able to do the long cut. I was so tired. The thing barely fit in my car, I didn't want to drive around with it any more. I was now calling cabinet makers, and almost hired a freaking kitchen contractor to do the 2 cuts I needed on a lousy piece of plywood. They said they'd take 1 week. For 2 cuts! Ridiculous! So at that point I decided it'll be janky but I'd do it myself. Then as I was talking to the man working there about what I was making, he told me he can do it but it'll be very rough, and I can use a marker to fill in any edges and cracks. I told him yes please anything will do at this point! So he brilliantly did it, even made the long cut which he had to be a bit creative with his tool to accomplish! It took 10 minutes and cost me 4 dollars. I am actually so happy with how it turned out, I don't know what cracks he was warning about, bc the edges look perfectly fine to me! Anyways long story short, this little local hardware store did what a big conglomerate hardware store who has all the resources and money failed to do. To my fellow veterans and those that support veterans this is not the store for you. This morning was my first time at this ACE store. There was no one on the floor like the other Ace hardwares I have been to but that was ok I easily found what I needed. When I went to check out I told the clerk I was a vet and he informed me they don't give vet discounts. I said every Ace I have been to does and has that changed? He informed me it's up to the owner. I went to make copies of the commercial key, the service was good and fast. Price was around $4 including tax per key. But it was super hot inside the store, they didn't turn on A/C during heat wave summer time. Everyone was sweating inside the store. They only had some big fan running, but air was hot. Awful customer service and complete waste of my time. I looked for somewhere local to make a spare key for my son's truck as a Christmas gift. Called Ace and gave them the make and model of the vehicle and was told they had it in stock and to come in. I arrive and was then told they had to special order it and they did not have the one I needed and that it would be in the following Wednesday. I come back The next Saturday to then be told that there was a delay in shipping and that it did not come in. I then wait until the NEXT Friday (now 2 weeks later) and call first this time to make sure it came in and was told yes they have it and to come in after 1:30. I arrive at 2:30 to have the key programmed to then be told by the "manager" that he doesn't know to work the machine to proceed with making the key and that I would have to come back AGAIN the next morning. I arrive AGAIN today and after 30 minutes of attempting to have the staff make the key I'm told that something is wrong with their machine and she cannot proceed. I've wasted 2 weeks of waiting when I could have gone elsewhere because like I said-this was supposed to be a CHRISTMAS GIFT! I'm offered a refund but then told that it will take 3/4 days for it to clear with my bank. And not once did anyone except for the last girl who attempted to make the key apologize or give any kind of sincere customer service for wasting my time. So I need some new roller thingies for the bottom of the sliding mirror doors and decide to check out local Kens Ace Hardware, go on the website first before walking in. And the website doesn't pop up, but a notification that the "This domain name is up for sale". Huh?/ This place used to be fabulous for having stuff you need. There was one salesperson, and for the life of me, cannot remember her name but she had red hair (ok, it's been a lotta years). Unlike the big box stores, this woman knew everything about everything. She could be blindfolded and lead you to exactly what you needed, and then tell you the do"s and don'ts I was so disappointed when I went in yesterday. Chick at the front counter with 47 stripes of color in her hair that looked like it was way over due for a shampoo, cringie looking tats (no judgement as I do have 2 but couldn't even figure out what the new one was supposed to be on her chin) looked up and didn't even smile and looked really miffed our presence had interrupted her conversation with another employee (he at least smiled and gave a nod of his head). We were there for a good 15 minutes looking at these roller thingies and no one came over and said do you need help. Stuff all on the wrong pegs, stuff obviously returned and they couldn't be bothered to seal it back up or even get it on the right peg As we were leaving to go to Home Depot, I stopped and said "did you know when you look at your website it has a notice that the domain name for this store is for sale?" Thinking maybe someone dropped the ball and forgot to renew it. Totally snotty retort was how was she supposed to know, that's not her job and went back to talking with someone. I went a little bit out of my way to get here, but I've always had good experiences at Ace Hardware Stores. This was no exception. I had a specialty request for replacement screws, etc., for my motorcycle turn signals. Rihanna went above and beyond to assist me. She saved me the trouble of waiting a couple weeks (and saved me a few bucks) for an order to arrive from England. Thanks for the awesome customer service!!! read more

I've often gone here when I needed propane for my grill, recently we had to get rid of our grill. But I called Ace, to see where I should dispose of a full propane tank. They said I could just bring it in to them and they would dispose of it for me. read more

This is your neighborhood hardware store where you can get advice on pretty much anything and help finding things - not like those other bigger stores. The Diamond Bar Ace has false advertising. Please see photos below. When I complained about the overcharge, the manager walked away and said "Have a nice day". They would not honor the online price. Update from last review. The customer service seems to have improved. People are friendlier. but the service still far less than what used to be Ken Crane ACE. It is still short staffed sometimes. I don't see any staff sometimes when I walk in. They need to do better job to keep inventory in stock. Once a while, sold out item are not stocked back to selfs. After saying the bad now I say the good thing. Bobby is a great guy. He is friendly and knowledge. He is a great assess to this store. He is the kind of people Ken Crane Ace used ti have. read more

Rating is for their return policy. Receipt stated no returns (would have liked a verbal on that tho) on capacitors so they had that. Just didn't like the policy so weigh it as you may. I got the wrong size and had to go to a different Ace to get the right one and original Ace did t take the return. Avoid coming here at all cost! Small local hardware store. Problem is that they are not helpful in anyway when it comes to finding which tool or screws. They suggest you get both to try and you could return it. Oh wait... they have a "No Return" policy for literally all their appliances / tools that they sell. So much for trying out which tool works for your local needs. It is not on the receipt, but on a taped paper at the front desk. I told the worker there who is some high school student or random worker that just puts the blame on other employees. His response was, "She must have been new and forgot to tell you." I live in Corona. We have two Ace Hardware Stores, two Home Depots and a Lowe's. After trying all five of them and Amazon, I was able to find a new screen door lock/pull at Ken's Ace Hardware. I'll grant you my door is an older one. But, the new $200 door had the same damn lock. So, I rescreened the old one and decided to change the wheels and locking mechanism. Thank goodness Ken's had the mechanism because no one else stocked it. They're my new go to Hardware Store. I can cut through the back way almost as quick as fighting traffic in corona to go two miles! Thanks again!!! read more

I entered past the cashier who never acknowledged me with a welcome, continued to search for my item as store employees past me by, finally finding something that may work for me, I entered a line that appeared to be checkout, later found it was for assistance but the lady, same one I saw as I entered, never said anything about my being in the wrong line. I found my way to the cashier who again never acknowledged me as she and another employee continued bad mouthing a gentleman that was ahead of me. I've always had great experiences at my local ace hardware when I lived in NorCal.....sadly there's nothing this hardware store aces. I drove 45 minutes in traffic to come get a craftsman swivel stool they had advertised. I was extremely relieved that I made it 5 minutes before closing. Right when I walk through the door the lady at the counter says "you have 3 minutes". No greeting. No customer service. Now I understand that ace is particularly good at telling you what time it is......sadly I don't need an ace hardware store for that. Needless to say I walked out and I'll take my business elsewhere. The employees are nice for the most part but the owner is a complete unprofessional. He's outside yelling and cursing at customers for using items that he sells on the main front shelf's when you walk in. His employees also use and play with them. Now I know why this nice neighborhood hardware store has a very low rating. I have loved this store since I started patronizing it in 2004 with most of its salespeople very consumer- friendly and accommodating. It is the worker like Alex who destroys its nice reputation. Let me explain why. I went in there to look for a tall medium sized heater and all I found was a large old heater and a table model displayed outside. When I called Alex attention to my query, he said he was busy while on the phone, agitated, irritable, rude and turned his back on me and called a co-worker named Daniel while saying " this fuckin this and fuckin that "referring to my insistence that I found the medium one I wanted.. and in a loud voice said " those big ones outside and these are the same!!!" True enough they were not the same. I finally decided to purchase the medium one with the help of equally irritable Daniel who calmed down when he found out that I was right and when I gave him a piece of my mind. Alex is liability and a disgrace to a good hardware store like Ace especially that these bumbling stores are now being threatened by behemoths like Home Depot and Kohl's . He and Daniel should be given in- service on good social skills regarding customer service although they deserve being fired, but we customers are not cruel wanting the latter. Just give them a good reality orientation and straightening up especially when dealing with ' meek and mild" Asians like me. I put one star because of one person in the whole grumpy morning crew named Vincent who has remained accommodating and polite. I will continue coming here and hopefully face a more disciplined, less rude, and less racist personnel next time. Probably come in the afternoon. It might be a better experience.!!! read more

The manager is not the nicest. Something about him that spooked my dog. She tensed up as soon as she saw him. I was told that I should not bring her to the public if she is not friendly. Clearly, he does not like dogs and know nothing about dogs. We went to a Home Depot, Lowe's, Barnes and Nobles, etc, without any issue. I will never go to that Ace Hardware store again. It's a disaster! I purchased some paint from this location about 6 months ago. It was much more expensive than going to Home Depot, but they had the colors I liked. About 2 months later, I had some work done in my bathroom that required a patch so I needed to get more paint for that one wall. I went back with the color code and can. I got home, painted the wall, let it dry annndddddd.... The color was not the same. I ended up having to repaint the entire bathroom. I had just enough paint, and it's a good thing because I wouldn't know what the color was if I needed more. Ace Hardware take 3! I needed more paint for my dining room (different color than the bathrooms) because I had plumbing work done. Yet again, another patch. I head back down to the hardware store with the name of the paint and code number, but I couldn't remember the finish. The girl was absolutely of no assistance. She basically shrugged her shoulders when I asked if there was a way we could look it up. So I roll the dice, choose a finish, and then she calls up some other associate to mix the paint, while she was looking at her phone. The poor guy was having such a hard time, and I was trying to help him with the computer. No exaggeration, it was about 30 minutes that he was trying to figure out how to put the code in. I know she knows how to do it because she's mixed paint for me in the past. Finally, I ask her to come help and she looks at it for a few minutes and said "We've been having trouble with the machine so it's broken. Sorry!" Huh! Why didn't you say something sooner?! I called over there today to see if the paint machine was fixed. Same girl on the phone. She said no and had no further information to give me. Goes I'll be driving to another location tomorrow. read more

Small local hardware store located in the same plaza as Sprouts and Ross, where Kmart used to be. Small meaning in location and also not a huge chain such as The Home Depot and Lowe's. These days, the parking lot is not as convenient as before as they are doing plenty of construction in the plaza. Overall, I've been coming here for decades and it is easy to find smaller things that I need and there is also someone who is always there to help answer any questions you may have. Though of course, it being an Ace, there really isn't much to expect in terms of service. When the worker walked me over to where the masks were, some were misplaced under an incorrect price tag. But overall, for anything small, I tend to come here if I am in the area. If I need anything big, I'll always head over to The Home Depot. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. I should have paid attention to all the negative reviews, but they are the only place that sells Benjamin Moore that was open today. I walked in the cashier sitting on a stool with no customers in sight. The older man waaaaay older man who seemed to be the only other employee working there didn't even know how to use the paint machine. I asked him for samples and he mumbled and blew me off, I came back around and he told me he didn't know how to make samples. I'm not going to purchase a quart of paint if I don't know how it's going to look first. Also everything is dusty the shelves are black with dirt, I thought I was at a hardware store in the Midwest not in Diamond Bar. BEWARE!!!! read more
