14.July: I purchased supplies at the Ace Hardware store in Firestone, CO. At check out, I was asked to pay - which I did with a debit card. The card reader informed me that my transaction was successful. The new store checkout agent informed me that he was having trouble printing my receipt. After about five minutes a female identifying herself as a store manager showed up - and asked me to wait. After waiting an additional fifteen minutes, I made a case to the store manager that I had waited long enough - absent knowing why, since my transaction was successful. The store manager stated that their computer system crashed. Albeit, the store manager agreed - yet took my name and phone number, in case there appeared any issues. I offered that if any issues were later raised, to just let me know - and I would cooperate in resolution. I departed the store. About seven minutes after leaving, the same female called my cell phone in a flustered panic, once again identifying herself as a store manager. She stated that the computer system was restored, and she believed my transaction was unsuccessful. I told her I would return to the store within ten minutes and run the card again to solve the issue. Which, I did. Later that afternoon, I logged into my bank account to discover my account had in fact been charged twice. I returned to the store with evidence. The female was gone. This time I was presented with a man who stated he was a store manager. He took my evidence and asked me to wait. Forty-five minutes later, now growing upset with the long wait, I asked a store clerk to get the manager back to address me. The individual showed up and stated that no human in the store knows how to issue a credit for a double charge. He asserted the matter would need to be turned over to the store accounting department for investigation as their time permits. Put off with that answer, I reminded him that redress was simple: Merely open the cash register drawer and refund my money; or, get on the computer and refund the charge to my debit card. The store manager asserted that such was impossible as no human in the store knows how to execute such refunds. I then visited my bank to report the unethical fraud underway by the Ace Hardware store in Firestone. My bank recommended I give the store a couple days to resolve the issue before executing a dispute of charges. 21.July: I returned to the Ace Hardware store in Firestone, CO. I came in to get two copies of my house key, I was overcharged for both. One key was 4.99 and the other was 3.99. I paid an over $15 for both. Charged 8.99 and 7.99 for the keys. I told the woman at the register that that wasn't the price but was fine with it at first. I got home, neither of the keys worked. Got them re-done, different style keys and everything- and they still don't work. I'll have to go back for the third time today to get a refund. I DONT recommend coming here at all. Especially for keys. They'll overcharge you, and in the end the keys still won't work. If I could give it zero stars I would. read more

I literally called the day before, and spoke to a lady, I don't know her name (I did not ID someone over the phone) about having a key cut that I purchased, as it was hard to purchase and they couldn't fit it. I come in to find an employee saying they can't cut it due to liability. I understand if you cut the key, I can't return it. This seems like common logic. However, if this is the stores policy, they should communicate this to all employees to make sure all employees are on the same page. I've purchased the key because the key counter said they couldn't order the key. This is one of many times that the store has proven not to be helpful. I was just in the store. The person at the cash register was not wearing a mask. I asked why he wasn't and he said " cause it's my right not to" then asked why I wasn't wearing two? I went in for 2 extension cords, paid half as much at home depot! Skip the overpriced attitude bs and just go to home depot, lowes or any place to take business away from the place. DO NOT SHOP HERE! I purchased a string trimmer and only after 13 days it stopped working they wont return it even though I have the receipt. They do NOT stand behind their products. I have NEVER had such horrible experiences at any Ace Hardware Anywhere. This place takes the cake. Terry is a very grumpy ill mannered person. He was our first experience at the Firestone Ace. Not just once but several times. The manager I spoke with the other day wanted to argue with us instead of just honoring their lifetime warranty. I will save up all my business and go into Longmont. Never will We spend our hard earned money in that place again. With 11 ratings and only 1 1/2 stars I'm not surprised. I see now that not everyone in Frederick/Firestone are friendly and kind. I live in Firestone and love Ace Hardwares and prefer shopping locally. I called to see if the employees wear masks and was told some do and most don't. I was told they didn't wear them for health reasons. When I asked what health reason they struggled to answer. Clearly it has nothing to do with their customers safety. If they don't care for us, I'm done shopping here. Home Depot cares about their customers, and wear masks. The Ace in Longmont cares and wears masks. Even when this is over I'm not going back. The Longmont Ace has a much better selection, better prices and is a lot more pleasant. Thanks for making my choice easy! read more

Why are employees at this Ace Hardware not wearing masks? The Weld County guidelines are very clear. I always prefer to shop at Ace rather than the big box stores, but cannot support a business that ignores the guidelines and puts citizens at risk during a health crises. First off, Ace is the last of what made America great. Pay the extra nine cents or go to the big box and support the Chinese invasion. We went here last year to get car keys made and they didn't have the blanks. Turns out, no one does. It's a weirdo key. Ordered them online and brought them to this Ace. We bought six blanks for two different cars and showed back up there as random customers. The manager remembered us and was happy to greet us and cut our blanks. She did so quickly and expertly. I was shocked when she made all six keys and wouldn't take our money. She said it was a community service, with a smile. Come on people, we talk about the good old days and this is it. I went in this morning to buy an infrared thermometer. I showed up with the ace hardware website and SKU number to make things easy. The website showed the product for $44.99 but when they rang it up it rang up as $54.99. The manager told me that I would need to go online and buy it online and pick it up in store in order for him to get credit. Well I was paying cash and did not want to buy it online with a credit card and he basically told me oh well. So I will very happily and very easily spend my money with Home Depot instead. Make me do the work to buy it online instead of adjusting the price is a very very quick way to lose my business. read more

Today was the last straw. I corroborate the experience of other reviewers that most employees do not wear masks. But the store is near my home, so I mask up and go there occasionally. Today I went in for a large bag of potting soil, which has been $16.99 since I started purchasing it there three years ago, and I checked the shelf tag to confirm. Still $16.99. Once again, the clerk kept his mask hanging off his ear while he rung up my soil. On the screen it popped up at $17.99. I told him the tag said $16.99. He said that this was the price, and that probably the bag of soil had slid around, and that there was nothing he could do to change it -- rude and dismissive. Ace Hardware is not abiding by the State Mandate of wearing masks. After talking with several employees, they all seem to have medical issues that won't allow them to wear a mask !! BS !! The employees and management of this business doesn't care about the health and safety of their customers. Sad to say, because I like the store because it is close to where I live. But because I am old and have many health issues I will have to take my business to people who care about their customers safety and health. read more

I have liked this store in the past, great selection. But now it is December 2020, virus is raging and lives are being lost and several of these employees are not wearing masks, wtf. Seriously I had to ask one employee to back away from the main aisle I was walking through. After asking one clerk she said her elderly mother is at risk and it angers her to work around people that are not wearing masks. In this age this is unbelievable for a business. I go to this Ace whenever I need something. We are exactly 1/2 way between them and Home Depot. I always shop Ace first and they almost always have what I need. I am a healthcare worker and have been sewing masks to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. I went into the Firestone Ace Hardware store to replenish my supply of wire pipe cleaners for the nose bridge of these masks. Not only was their staff aloof and unaware that the pipe cleaners were hanging on a display at the front of the store (they directed me to the plumbing, then cleaning supply aisles first), NONE of the Ace staff were wearing masks. I asked why and was told that it was optional in Weld County and that their owner did not require them to wear masks. How disappointing and reckless that they would put their staff and customers at such a health risk during a pandemic!! I believe in supporting local business however this is not one I will ever support again. Have often gone there because it's close but usually they do not have what I'm looking for or the price is considerably higher than anywhere else. After going in today to exchange a simple part purchased at another ACE Justin rudely told me they do not accept exchanges from other stores. I mentioned that most every other store excepts exchanges and he flippantly told me to go shop there then and immediately walked away. The complete failure at even attempting to put the costumer first smacks of arrogance and is clearly the general attitude of the store. read more
