I have been to the store many times. They've always provided excellent customer service. Today today was over the top. I was looking for a screw that goes into the shower. Did not know the name of it. The guy corrected me said it was a set screw. He was able to identify the screw that I needed and gave me the screw exactly. He went overboard. Very rude staff. I purchased a miracle grow flower food called "Bloom", That was marked down from $12.49 tp $6.50. The girl at the register was not very bright and could not figure out how to ring it up, even after repeated requests She kept ringing it up at $12.49. So she called over a woman names "Sue", who was very rude. I followed her to the aisle where I had found it because she was Taking a long time. I showed her where I had got it on the top shelf. She turned to me and rudely quipped "I've got it", turned her Back to me and scurried to the front without acknowledging me. She then made it clear that I could not use my coupon (which I wasn't doing, anyway), because it was on sale. I will use True Value hardware in the future. read more

I visited the store one evening around 6 PM, with the location closing at 7 PM, to make a return. I had already attempted a return at a closer Ace location, but was told returns must be made at the original store if the receipt is lost. Unfortunately, I had kept my receipt, but after a week, it had completely faded to the point where no writing was visible, even when held up to light. When I arrived, I explained the situation to Ben, the cashier, and mentioned that I have an account, and the card used for purchase. Ben was very kind and helpful, doing his best to figure out how to process the refund. The other associate on duty seemed unsure, so they called over Kevin, the manager, for assistance. Kevin's behavior was disappointing. He was rude, dismissive, and seemed annoyed that he had to stop whatever he was doing. He barely acknowledged me, was disrespectful to his staff, and seemed uninterested in resolving the situation. He threw my refund back at me (I paid with a credit card), which was completely unprofessional. Based on other reviews, it seems this isn't a one-off behavior for Kevin. Overall, Ben was great, but Kevin's attitude was appalling. Kevin could definitely benefit from some customer service training or just a little more patience and professionalism. read more

I visited on a holiday and had two specific needs, but I knew that the staff member's level was consistently so high that they would either have an answer or find someone who does. Let me tell you a story about Jeff, about Ace on the Fax, and why we should all support local hardware stores. A few weeks ago the door on our "Little Free Library" cracked. Probably overzealous children being a bit rough with it. I knew the piece that I needed to replace was non-standard - it was a "tongue and groove" piece of wood. Went to Michael's Art Supply - they had a picture frame set but not the right size. Went to Home Depot - they took one look at my piece of wood and shook their head no. Decided to stop at my local Ace on the Fax - even knowing they were unlikely to have this wood. About 15 feet in the door I ran into Jeff, who asked if he could help. Jeff took one look at the piece of wood and also knew that Ace wouldn't have this exact type of tongue and groove wood in stock. But here's where Jeff saw the human element of why I was coming in with this wood, and he asked me: "So what's this wood for?" "It's for a Little Free Library we have in Park Hill" Jeff: "Oh, I live in Park Hill, my kids love those" "Yeah, I think some kids loved ours a bit too much, the door cracked" Jeff: "You know what, I live a few blocks away, and I have the tools for this, let me stop by on my way home and I can fix it for you?" "Really, you'd do that? I'm happy to pay you for it" Jeff: "No it's for the kids, I'm happy to do it for free" And then... he came, he picked up the door, and he fixed it. Fixed it perfectly, not a shoddy job, it looks as good as new. Dropped it right back on our porch. So this is why I'm now an Ace on the Fax customer for life. And this is why we should all support our local hardware stores. They invest in the community, and we should invest in them. Thank you Jeff, and thank you Ace on the Fax. This is my neighborhood hardware store -- they have everything a homeowner might need. Everything from nuts and bolts to cleaning products to paint/paint supplies and gardening equipment. They even refill your propane tank for outdoor grills. A special note that there's candy and hand lotion when you check out. A nice perk for those of us who need a sweet treat and some moisturizer when working on projects around the house. read more

A relatively new and well laid out store in east Denver that has lots of people to assist you in finding what you need. The aisles are well marked and the store is large enough to cover most needed hardware items. There is a good vibe in the store in that the employees are anxious to help you out. What is particularly helpful is the fact that they can do needed machine cutting of items as part of the sale without expense or time spent by you to do the same. My husband and I came in Saturday to purchase a Blackstone griddle. A salesman was over quickly, we thought to help. We were standing in front of the Blackstone but the salesman quickly went over to the Traeger griddle and told us how much better it is than the Blackstone and that the Blackstone is "cheaply made" with really poor customer service and warranty. Despite expressing our continued interest in the Blackstone, he kept telling us how cheap it is. Then another salesman came over telling us the same thing about the Blackstone. It was just so odd and pushy. The repeated usage of "cheap" was so off-putting. Thankfully the Blackstone wasn't in stock so we just left. The funny thing is, had the tactic been better, we definitely would have entertained buying the Traeger instead but the pushiness and downplaying the product wasn't working for us. We ended up going to Lowe's and having a very easy purchase experience with a very helpful Lowe's employee. We would have anticipate the reverse with the two stores. Unfortunately, this is the 3rd negative experience at this location so we are officially done with this Ace. Too bad because it used to be great. read more

The short version is I wouldn't go anywhere else! I cannot begin to describe the level of incredible service I have received from Ace on the Fax and in particular, Juel, the Manager. Here is the long version if you want to hear the story behind the rave review. My daughter and now husband were to get married in July. Covid was here and not going away anytime soon. They pushed back the bigger 'wedding' but they were still going to get married on the date they had planned to. We were calling it an 'Elopement' so I could get past the fact that I wasn't going to be there when my daughter got married. I struggled immensely with what to give as an 'Elopement Gift'. What does a Mother of the Bride give to her daughter and new son-in-law as a gift for their 'Elopement'? I did a Zoom call with a few of her closest friends and one of my choices was 'The Big Green Egg'. I was first introduced to The Big Green Egg from a dear friend in Dallas (thanks Elba). The Pork she made on The Egg was the best pork I had ever had. The girls and I decided on The Big Green Egg since it would be with them forever. I called around the Denver Area to see who had it in stock and could help me decide on which one to get and they would put it together AND deliver it the next day (happened to be the day before the 'Elopement'). ENTER 'Ace On The Fax'. They worked with me on making the decision and ensured me it would be delivered in time. It all happened the way it was to happen. My Daughter and her Husband- to- be had NO IDEA what just rolled into their life. They were perplexed because they had never heard of The Big Green Egg. Now that they know what it is that they have their hands on and THEY LOVE IT and use it all the time. INSERT Christmas: Still Covid times. Again, pondering over what to get for my daughter and her now Husband for Christmas. I called Ace on The Fax and talked with Juel and his staff. It was Christmas Eve Day and I still had not decided what I wanted to give to them. Juel and I worked on it a bit and I decided on the Acadia table (they only had one left) for The Big Green Egg. It would really enhance the backyard grilling and connecting experience for them. Juel went above and beyond to get it to them, put it together, set it up, took apart The Big Green Egg from the original 'nest' and reassemble it in the new table. He even used my original casters from the other stand but brought new ones just in case they didn't work. AND stopped off at the Big Green Egg Dealership to pick up a cover for the table and Egg. TALK ABOUT SERVICE!!!!! Obviously I cannot say enough about the experience I have had with Ace On The FAX. Juel even texted me to check to see how their New Year's Eve grilling experience was with the new 'Set Up'. This Ace is farther away from the house (30 Mins) but I won't go anywhere else. I used to love Ace for the convenience and selection of plumbing related items, especially shower faucet stems. Most of the new Aces have got so corporate that they stopped buying CPI shower faucet stems and only stock prepackaged stems from the Ace warehouse. The result is a very, very limited selection of faucet stems. I had to go to the Hoffman Heights old school, style hardware store to get what I needed. read more
