It was a little tricky finding their ACE desk at the airport in Minneapolis, but once we did, everything was great! Loved the offsite location as the shuttle bus was waiting for us at the airport and after a short trip, we arrived at their super nice base and given a great car! Rent anywhere else! I got suckered in through rentalcars.com who said they were "in terminal" at MSP but they are actually a 10 minute drive after a 15 minute wait at the airport for their shuttle. I made the reservation weeks ago and selected "Manager's Selection" before I knew it would be snowing when I arrived in April. Upon arrival, they insisted on trying to upcharge me $60+ for an AWD vehicle even though their own website and others were suggesting SUV rentals would be less expensive than what I was originally charged. Most rental car companies would insist on upgrading me after selecting "Manager's Selection" when snow was newly on the forecast and AWD vehicles were on hand. The manager proceeded to argue with me by saying that I could book online but I'd have to wait hours for my new reservation to come through their system! She also consistently lied to me saying that the price online was actually more expensive than what I paid. I eventually booked online elsewhere and saved $100 but had to shuttle back to the airport. We rented a car from here to attend a wedding in the Twin Cities. And yes, I would do that again. The counter is somewhat hidden from the other car rentals but follow the signs and it's not hard to find. Once you get checked in then you get on a shuttle bus and go to the other side of the airport. (Same exit as Mall of America but north) Once there they bring you your car. Ours was a new Subaru Forester. (This was slow, it took at least 30 min.) Returning the car was easy & fast. And the total bill was more than $100 cheaper than the big car rentals. It was affordable at $29 per day plus tax for 2 days for a total of $97 unless there are any issues. The place is 24/7 and there is a shuttle that is called on demand by phone so you can drop off anytime and pick up anytime and the shuttle will pick you up and drop you off as soon as you ask. They only took 5 min to bring the shuttle to me at the support as soon as I called. They recommend that you arrive to the rental car to drop off your car at least one and a half hours before your flight. The shuttle gets off exit 24th avenue (exit 2A) off 494 West. The shuttle takes only 4 min by driving. Scott the shuttle driver was very friendly and nice and informative and helped me know what the deal was. Once I arrived at the office from MSP airport the staff were friendly also and calm with 80s music that was not loud but present enough to have some background noise. I can't handle blaring music. Hannah and Laura were nice and got me the car and informative. Thank you Ace! My first experience of Ace was a pleasant one. The only difficulty I had was at the airport because they weren't any signs initially because it's a little different from the other rental cars where it's directly at the airport, but because Ace has a shuttle to get to the offices and the rental car pick up, it's a little tricky because it's offsite. There should be signs at the airport, but there are not, but once you get to ground transportation from baggage claim you have to go upstairs from baggage claim once you arrive and then look for signs for ground transportation and then you go downstairs and the ace office will have a phone for you to call for the shuttle to send you offsite. PLEASE read the reviews before renting through these guys. Have rented hundreds of times for work, used these guys ONE time and it was quite literally the worst rental experience I've ever had. Don't ignore all the comments that tell you they force you to buy their own insurance. Rented a car just for a weekend, I had TWO third party insurance coverages (one through my credit card + one I purchased online) and the man at the desk would NOT give me my rental until I not only purchased insurance through him, but the platinum package (the most expensive) and said they "don't accept" third party insurance (lie) - I asked since I was forced to purchase their insurance could I just purchase the basic package, and he told me he couldn't give me the car until I purchased the platinum. I was on a massive time crunch so I purchased the platinum package which tacked on hundreds of extra dollars. After looking into it and discovering purchasing platinum insurance through them was not mandatory, after returning the car I called and reported the issue and said I wanted to be reimbursed at the very least partially. The manager obliged, refunded me partially for "things I bought that I didn't need" and then shortly after I was hit with a "damage claim" that conveniently was no longer covered by them. They were then asking for 3.6k for a "damaged bumper" - insane. I wanted to go through my credit card coverage as it's the easiest, but they were an absolute nightmare to deal with and insisted on going through the other coverage. Congrats to whoever made a pretty penny off the "damaged bumper" Highly highly highly do not rec. and would suggest going through somewhere/anywhere else. read more

We had such a great experience with everyone we interacted with at ACE on both ends of our trip. From the moment we hopped on the shuttle, we loved chatting with the super friendly employees. Checking in was a breeze, as was checking out our car before we left. The car was super clean, we loved driving it, and we had no issues on the trip. Beware: Ace is trying to get me to pay for pre-existing damage--$1,700 worth. They upgraded me to a Toyota 4Runner. It was snowing, and there was ice on the windshield. During the walk-around, I had to brush the snow off to check for damage. There was a chip on the windshield that I didn't notice, and honestly, I wouldn't have been able to see it anyway because of the ice. About 10 minutes into the trip, I noticed the chip. I didn't think much of it since I've seen chips on rentals before (I've been renting cars for 30 years). Well, the chip turned into a crack in the freezing weather. I alerted the staff when I returned the car, and they assured me they had photos and could verify any pre-existing damage. I left satisfied that the issue was resolved--until they sent me a bill for $1,700. I've asked for the photos, but they refuse to provide them. read more

I had a very troubling experience with ACE Rent A Car at the Minneapolis location over the holiday break. At pickup, I was incorrectly told I could not use my personal GEICO auto insurance and was pressured into purchasing ACE insurance at $32/day plus an additional $20/day. After a long day of travel with children, the process was rushed, poorly explained, and included handwritten additional charges. I was not provided copies at the time and was met with irritation when I asked for documentation. After confirming that my GEICO insurance was valid, I contacted ACE customer care. I was told the issue would be reviewed within 3 days, and I was asked to provide proof of insurance so the charges could be removed. I promptly did so. However, the investigation ultimately took 5 days, and despite providing the requested proof, ACE refused to remove or refund the charges. ACE's final position was that the insurance charges were "valid" and could only be removed if I physically returned the vehicle to close and reopen the contract--by that point, the rental period was essentially over. This delay made resolution impossible and felt intentional. They also charged $56.93 more in fees than the agreed upon reservation. This experience felt like a counter-pressure tactic rather than transparent customer service. Renters should be extremely cautious at pickup and document everything before signing. Also, there are other car rental sites at the airport that you will not need to wait for a shuttle for. read more

Do NOT recommend. Don't ever pay for their prepaid gas. Terrible customer service that avoid fixing the problem in hopes that their customers would quit bothering you. Prepaid for 1/2 a tank, when I checked out, I was charged for a full tank. I used ~268 miles and this was on the receipt. When I checked out, I inquired for a receipt and the counter reps told me that they would adjust the price and rushed me to get on the shuttle. Called back the next day since the price was not adjusted. Was advised that the price would be adjusted to 1/2 tank in 1-2 days. Called back in 5 business days and was told the supervisor wasn't in at the time. They advised me to submit an email inquiry to customercares@acerentacar.com. Horrible experience, I had made a booking for my husband's name under my Expedia account for Ace car rental 15 passenger vehicle. Unfortunately when I dropped him off at the airport, he was unable to get the vehicle due to being a local resident he would have to pay with a credit card. He didn't have a having a physical credit card with him. So I tired to mend the situation by messaging chat with Expedia to change the name and I would use my credit card but due to waiting in chat queue our booking time was slightly over at 6pm we were not able to make changes booking to my name nor cancel. Our 650$ went to a rental vehicle we could not book due to him not having a cc. We requested a full refund as we did not get the vehicle nor was there any resolution to our issue. All agent we talked to from Ace and Expedia kept bouncing back saying Ace now has the rental fee and will need approval before Expedia can refund. Would never book again! read more

There's always something with rental cars whether it's the reservation difference, the wait time or the distance to the lot. Thankfully this went really smoothly at the Minneapolis airport. Everyone we worked with was super friendly and we were charged what I reserved the car for. Our shuttle driver on our way back to the airport was great. Very easy to talk to, great with our daughter, and super nice. Is there a way to find out his full name so I can send him a tip through Venmo or something? I booked a 3 day rental with them and the car as well as the drivers were great however, this review is solely on the rep at the front counter (airport) & the experience I had with hidden charges. The rental should have been $175-191 with a $38 add on for gas. The front desk rep asked if I wanted a vehicle upgrade or insurance which I politely declined. After a long flight I didn't think much of it and just signed it thinking it was a $38 gas upsell. I did not get a breakdown of everything and she said she would just email me the charges. After getting my invoice see an additional $437 charged on my card which I quickly called the customer care line. They mentioned that there was a $300 deposit, $54 in taxes + surcharges + $31 insurance for an add on. I told them I declined it and the rep never informed me. I was told to call the direct location and speak to manager. Apparently the reps may get commissions for add ons. After calling into the location they said that I had to bring it in to have them inspect it and that the rep should have printed and broken down everything. The only add on I agreed on was the gas and it was a huge hassle to drive it back in to have them check everything. Even when I dropped off the vehicle I was told that they would see if a credit was justifiable and that I should have gotten a print out. It was an expensive lesson for me and I've never experienced this before with any other car rental place. I would not recommend booking here or at least get a print out with everything highlighted before you check out bc you will not get your money back. They always have cars ready and will offer you an option of vehicle if they have it available. Their staff are very customer friendly and make the transaction as quick as possible, answering any questions you may have along the way. Being that I've had horrible experiences at other rental car services. I thought I should definitely write this review. Great job to the ace, staff and ownership. I was lied to and had 352$ stolen from me by ace. Your representative at the airport counter explained to me that the money I was paying at time of pickup was for a security deposit. I never signed forms, I never was asked any additional information, just here pay this fee and you'll get it back when you return the car. Your customer care team has informed me that without my knowledge I purchased additional insurance from you which your own employee not only slandered and made fun of but literally lied to me and said that this fee is for the security deposit. I see lots of poor reviews and want to add my warning. If you use ACE, question every option. They did not explain the insurance options and did not volunteer any costs. I rejected the first contract because it was $300 more than I expected. They snuck in additional charges in the second contract, which I did not catch. They never gave me ANY receipt or documentation and only sprang it on me when I returned the car and, of course, one does that just before catching your flight. No time to fight it. There is an ACE stall at the airport alongside the other car rentals but instead of being met by an employee, there is a phone you pickup and they tell you to meet them outside the doors to be shuttled to their location, which is 2-3 minutes away. I had to take a star away for this because I had a baby and a stroller so it wasn't convenient to take all that down along with luggage onto a shuttle van. The driver was nice and told us how to return a car and the check in and out process of the car rental was quick and smooth. They didn't push sales on us or car insurance. It took us under 10 minutes and we were on our way. It was a good experience minus the shuttle service but after you drop off, they take you directly to your gate instead of the shuttle place so that was really nice. read more

They hoodwinked me. *Don't reserve "Supplier's Choice" with them or they will do it to you too!* I reserved a Supplier's Choice rental car for Sep. 20 - 30 for a grand total of $279.59, via Priceline. I've done this many times and gotten anything from an Economy car to a Minivan. When I arrived at ACE RENT A CAR, there were 3 human employees sitting behind their desks, not helping anyone, and they told me to "Go to Zamir," which was an iPad and a video customer service agent. Zamir told me the only available vehicles were their 15-passenger vans covered in ACE RENT A CAR window covers. I said, "You're joking, right?" HE said that was all they had available, or "You can upgrade for just $17." "It that $17 total or $17 per day?" I asked. "Total," he said. So I agreed and waited 30 minutes for my car. Then one of the 3 employees handed me my paperwork and they added $17.99 per day for $484.01 total. I went back to Zamir and told him he lied to me. He said it was all on video, so I asked to see the video. He said I needed to ask his Manager for the video. So I went to one of the 3 employees, who told me there wasn't a Manager there, and gave me a number to call. I immediately called that number, and it was a general Customer Service number, who said all they could do was note my concern, and someone would get back to me. And that I could leave a voicemail for the Manager. I did so. By this point, the whole check-in process had taken an hour and I was late for my meeting, so I had no option but to use the $17.99 additional they charged me per day for 10 days. This was a Friday, so I tried the Manager again on Monday. Same deal. Not an actual Manager of the location. Just a general Customer Service who said, "We already noted your Escalated case, and someone will get back to you." It's now been 12 days since my initial voicemail and 8 since my 2nd voicemail. No one has gotten back to me. This seems like a scheme they pull on people who reserve "Supplier's Choice." Avoid them. read more

This was an awesome rental experience, probably the best I've ever had. We only waited a minute or two at the check-in counter and were processed quickly. The agent at the desk was very friendly, polite and efficient. The cars are located a short shuttle ride away from the airport. Our wait for the shuttle was less than a minute. There were friendly agents waiting to check us into our car and get us on the road. The vehicle was clean and in good shape. Returning the car was quick and we got back to the airport in no time. The shuttle drivers were great also, providing us helpful information and loading our bags. I've rented vehicles from many of the so-called "big brands" and never had it go this well. I would not hesitate to rent from ACE again and they will be my preferred rental company whenever possible. read more

There are two parts to this review. Customer Services: The drivers for both legs were very friendly and awesome. They were extremely pleasant and made our ride from and to the airport delightful. Prepaid Fuel Policy: SCAM ALERT!!! I was offered by the ACE agent in MSP to go with the prepaid fuel option, I was told that it will be 20-30 cents less than refueling myself at the gas pump. Thought it made sense if that will save me time and price on gas. I picked up the car with a full tank of gas and returned it with only half a tank. I did the math against my invoice and I thought it was odd that they are charging me up to 12 gallons of gas for an Elentra. After a brief discussion with two separate customer care agents, they have made it cleared to me that there's a policy for ACE that they will charge for a full tank of gas regardless of the amount used while you have the car in your possession. I was not disclosed that policy or advised that when I had agreed to use the "prepaid fuel" option. The customer service reps made it sounded like this was the better option comparing to if you had forgotten or didn't want to fuel up your car yourself, they would have charged me $9.99/ gallon, which was a much better deal for me. A much better deal would have been fueling up the half a tank that I actually use myself at the gas pump! Becareful when you do business with this company! read more

This place is shady and overcharges you. I used them for a short term rental in October and it was pouring rain the morning I returned the car, so I did not refuel it. They ended up charging me double what I should have been charged are their already exorbitant $9.99 per gallon refueling charge. They rented us a nice car at a decent price and weren't too picky about the insurance documentation once we got there. Otherwise, I recommend you take a copy of your auto insurance declarations page when you plan on renting a car because their website says you have to have proof of your specific coverage details or they would require you to buy their insurance. Also, since they are offsite by a mile or two their shuttle will take you directly back and forth to your terminal which is pretty nice. We found it convenient. read more

Between my husband and myself, we have rented many times with Ace at the MSP airport and have not experienced poor customer service until our last rental. We booked a dealers choice, which we have done before with Ace and with many other car companies. We usually have a choice in a few cars when booking this way. We arrived at Ace and was told that our choice would be a truck. And that there were no other options available as they were all sold out. The parking lot was full. Hanah then stated that for additional fees we would have many options - although she just told us that all cars were taken. We had 4 people, a lot of luggage, and it rained during our drive making our luggage soaking wet in the bed of the truck. I had a rental booked and called the location. when I asked to be transferred they said it was that location and asked about getting a shuttle to the location and they told me I could uber or walk! I ended up walking because Ubers was so expensive. It said a shuttle was available and there was not and in the past I have always been able to take the shuttle. The lady on the phone was extremely rude and I was shocked as I have always rented from this location because of the good service which has obviously changed drastically. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I drove the car directly from the airport to the place I was staying, and when I arrived, I noticed that some bright pink liquid was leaking under the hood. I looked under the hood and saw that a tube was broken and fluid was everywhere. I immediately called Ace, where I was transferred 6 times and had to retell my story to each person (which was not too big of a deal). A woman named Katie finally got me, and immediately accused me of crashing the car and told me that it is my fault and either I needed to take it to a shop to get it fixed or I needed to pay $2k for them to come tow the car back to the rental agency. I told her that I did not crash the car, there was no other damage to the car, and the leak must have been cause before I got the car. She continued to tell me it is my fault and I must have done something to cause it. I then asked to speak to a supervisor, who ended up being even worse. She then transferred me over to John, who was even more rude. He spoke down to me the entire time we were on the phone, and continued to tell me it was my fault and that I had to fix it myself or pay to tow the car. I asked him about the bumper to bumper warranty, and he said this obviously would not be covered under warranty. He even ended up hanging up on me. I then drove the car (which was unsafe) to the nearest dealership and asked if they could fix it and explained the situation. Everyone at the dealership was disgusted and confused, and said that they've never heard of a rental company treating customers like that or making customers pay for/perform maintenance on a car. After they looked at the car, they told me it WAS covered under warranty, it was NOT safe for me to drive, and that they could not give me the car back. The serviceman also noted that there was no way the damage happened while it was in my care and was clearly not my fault. The car dealership service man called John directly and explained the situation, and only then did John agree to send me a new car at no cost to me. (Although John did call me back and tried to convince me to pay for and take a shuttle to the airport instead of getting the car.) They finally picked up the car and brought me a new one, but I missed an entire day of my vacation because I was wasting hours at the dealership, dealing with rude employees, and waiting for a car. The fact that I as the customer was immediately blamed for the damage without the company even looking at the car until a dealership serviceman backed me up is horrific. Terrible customer service. Nobody should be treated to or spoken to the way I was. I would never recommend renting with this company to anybody. read more

Overalll, this is a very good alternative to airport car rentals, saving over $100. Cars are new and in great condition. Check in counter at airport is efficient and car was waiting when I got to the rental center. He did assist guests before me that actually rented after me but no big deal. My biggest concern was getting me to the airport timely. They promote return to airport within 10-15 minutes but my return took 35 minutes, causing me to get to my flight after my zone was called. They were down a shuttle driver and I had to wait 15 minutes for a shuttle; also 2 families were going to terminal 2 while I was going to terminal 1. Although I arrived at the car rental first by at least 5 minutes and had the earlier plane (which I communicated to the driver} he still went to terminal 2 first which delayed my airport arrival by at least another 10 minutes. read more

Instead of extending even a hint of courtesy or bothering to ask how she could assist me, she continued to glare, her indifference cutting deep. This complete disregard for basic customer service enraged me to no end. It's utterly enraging to be treated with such disrespect, especially when you're a paying customer seeking assistance. I felt utterly belittled during this infuriating ordeal. In the end, it was an experience that left me absolutely furious. ACE Rental Company needs to address this infuriating behavior and overhaul their customer service immediately.
