I rented a vehicle and I got their gas package and I drove to Mt. Carroll and it was approximately 450 miles round trip. When I booked the car I was not properly explained their gas package. I thought they would top it off and and charge me $3.99 a gallon for what the amount was needed to fill the tank. This was mine and my husband's understanding of the explanation we got. Instead we charged $65 for a full tank of gas. I called and spoke to Steve on the phone and he said I should have only put in the amount of gas needed to get back. I was driving over 225 miles back to Chicago from a rural area and had no choice for my safety to fill the tank. So I returned it with a 3/4's tank and the guy Steve said he has no way of telling how much gas is in the vehicle. Look at the gas gauge. It's not rocket science!!! It's a 3/4's of a tank. I was being nice by asking for him to return half of it and he said they would not. This is insane and unacceptable to me. They lost a customer. Ace Rent a car are thieves, I was in Las Vegas May 24th through 29th visiting a sick relative I paid for my rental car in advance through Hotwire, I needed to extend my stay until the 31st 2 extra days ace charged me an additional $800 for the 2day extension there were $499 in fees for 2 extra days never again will I ever use Ace Rent a car. This company needs to be closed. The hidden fees, failure to honor their duty contract, no shuttle as advertised is outrageous. Consider yourselves warned! Any reduced rate you may think you will get will be quickly eaten up by tolls, UBER to get to the airport b/c the shuttle did not arrive in time, double and even triple fees. The worst part is that they will find any excuse to add the fees and the response is that your only recourse is to sue them for breach of contract. They know it's just not worth it for $100. The car I received was a joke there was scratches throughout the car and two of the rims. The bummer looked like someone bumped into something because it wasn't aligned. I took pictures and made sure that they were documented I would have asked for a different car but figured they didn't have anything else since why would they give anyone this car knowing what is going on with it. I was about 1.5 hours away and it started to rain and the driver wiper came off I called and asked what I should do and the lady told me I could bring it back, but that wasn't going to be very convenient for me. The lady told me I shouldn't have took the car if I wasn't happy with it. Good service and handled a last minute change fairly and easily. Also didn't nail me with ridiculous charges for a missed toll.

I'll start by saying the facility is not at the airport, it's an 8 minute drive to the pickup/drop off . There is a shuttle to take you back and forth and it runs frequently. However , this location is a journey to get to from landing, and when they take you back the drop off is at this desolate location so you have to journey through to your terminal. Most rental shuttle services will drop you to your terminal . The prices are low which is of course a plus , it attracted me for this particular trip because we flew from California to Chicago for a funeral 4 days before Christmas. It was an expensive time to travel and I was distraught so I didn't do as much research as I normally would. Upon pickup I dealt with a pretty vile agent named Sherman, so rude. To be fair, almost everyone in Chicago is rude so I guess he's just being typical. I was also not in the best mood considering the circumstances to which I was there . The agent who did the intake was a female and pleasant . I read the reviews after pickup and before drop off and realized 1. I need to always take time to do more research. 2. I came for the navy graduation for my nice. And the guy that helped me rent the car for 1 day was nice. However when I came to return the car there was a guy that wanted to charge $250.00 because he was saying that there was excessive dog hair. I told them and the guy saw that I came with my service animal and didn't mention that. Also that there was not excessive hair. And I recorded and took pictures and told him I was going to make a review exposing him trying to rip me off. And he didn't say anything then. It's a scam. This company uses deceptive business practices to make you pay more. They advertise a low daily rate, but don't disclose extra fees. I was bullied by Simon into buying their insurance policy which amounted to more than $50 PER day. The reason ACE gave is that local residents are required to show proof of insurance. That was NEVER indicated at booking or in the multiple reminder texts I received from them. I was not able to show proof that they deemed adequate, even though I was covered both by my credit card and by my personal auto insurance. I have rented many cars locally and in other states and never encountered this before. It's completely intentional to recoup costs from the low daily rates they advertise. I called ACE before leaving on my trip and they advised me that I would have to go to handle it at the rental office. I did that and told the clerk that I felt tricked into buying the insurance and the right thing to do would be to give a refund, and the first thing he said was "oh that guy never sells" meaning that the guy who rented it to me in the first place never sells the insurance. Rented a car through my credit card with Ace Rent a Car. Went to pick up the car and was told I had to have my own personal car insurance. Mind you - I recently sold my car so I don't have my own personal car insurance (why would I?). When I went to pick up the car it says in their policies it states online you need personal car insurance. I didn't book through them. I booked through a credit card company. I rent cars frequently for work and personal travel. Of the 5-6 different companies I have used, never once have I been asked to get my own personal insurance. If I had a car, I wouldn't be renting with them for personal reasons. Not only did they charge me no refund, but were extremely rude and disinterested in me as the customer with their response. They left me stranded at the airport with no car, and I had to go back to the main airport and get a rental car from a competitor (who gave me a car right on the spot no questions). They need to be extremely clear with their requirements. When I checked the booking, it looked like it was in fine print about the personal insurance (I could barely read it) on the credit card site. I am asking the company to please be much clearer next time. Make it a box you select when booking through you on the site acknowledging personal insurance (or make the consumer provide the policy number to confirm). Could have saved a big mess. This Ace claims they are a rental car facility that exists at the ORD Airport Rental center. They are in fact not at the Airport Rental Center but a few miles down the road from it. After bringing back the rental, the manager tried to claim that I had a scratch in the car that was not there when picked up. When I asked him to show me, I could see he was pointing at some dust/dirt on the bumper. I then proceeded to wipe it away to show him it was exactly that. At that point he asked me for my paper copy of the exit forms I signed when taking the car. I told him that I did not sign any because I was not presented any. I believe he was trying to hold me accountable in some way by proving that I signed the forms agreeing to certain conditions. Since the employees are so inept at doing their jobs, even if the vehicle was damaged, he could not hold me accountable. When I called back another day to straighten these issues out, I found out that he has barred me from renting from that ACE ever again. Never told me in person, never sent a letter, never received a phone call. I guess this was his childish way of trying to get at me despite lying about damage. I also have pictures of before and after as proof. In the end, it is just as well because this place is shady from the word go. Beware. During the initial inspection, they focus on small cosmetic scratches in their quick inspection hand-off and this is a distraction from the trap you will eventually find yourself in later. Be ready to photo and video the car and request to do so outside of their dark garage. And even if you do, they have a strategy to press forward with false damages. This occurred a day after they required me to return the vehicle for an extension to process a new contract. It's vague what to expect if returning after your due date, as the contract language is not clear, saying "rates are subject to change" if doing so. So you don't quite know if you can expect a day charge or more and their call center won't tell you. When you ask for 24 hour grace beyond your contract end, ACE will tell you they will turn it over to security, and seek to REPOSSESS the vehicle. One can make an argument this is business, but it turned my stomach to hear the schadenfreude tone about repossession when the vehicle is clearly not abandoned. It turned out they didn't even need the vehicle and just turned it back around to me, happy to charge me a higher rate for a new 1 day contract and no cleaning. Last, the shuttle isn't worth your time. What you don't know when you book is the phone number to call for a shuttle (via booking.com) doesn't connect with anybody and you have to find the working number on your own. And the area you wait for their shuttle is under a leaky overhead ramp, so you get exposed to weather, watching as everybody else gets their rentals through brand-name rental agencies. Please avoid. The time and convenience alone is not worth it, and you may also face a damage claim scam. read more

I had a great experience with my rental from this location. I received explicit instructions on where to go to be picked up to be taken to the rental office that is offsite of the airport. The shuttle that picks you up is labeled clearly and the driver was very friendly. When I received the car, it was clean and practically brand new! It still had the "new car" smell! Car had great features and Bluetooth connectivity for my phone. Return went just as smoothly! I would definitely use them again! read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE!!! They will scam you. From the start, I was asked if I wanted the $15 a day toll. I said no thank you I would not be going through that many tolls in a day. My 4 grandkids, daughter and I go to the van, we were there for my other grandsons graduation from the Navy. As we went around the van, it was disgustingly dirty bird crap all over it. I mentioned it to the lady there she said oh it's okay it's supposed to rain shortly. Are you flipping kidding me!! Then the carpet in the back was torn out of the molding. Then we barely leave and the air pressure light comes on, seriously I can't turn around I have to pick up tickets for graduation before the base closes. That and I am not sure how long it takes to get there. Now they charged my account 3 times for tolls. $82.68 total. I hsd to put a stop on my card so they would stop charging me. Then another $3 they were trying to charge again for tolls. Then they give me a a refund but take out another $23. Now they are saying it was my fault that the tire lost air they said they inspect the cars which they do not!! Said they found a nail. They are liars and deceitful. This company would not discuss it with me- they referred me back to Expedia (they even transferred me to them) and then Expedia said it was actually Ace as the billing company that needed to make the change. I just had the best experience ever renting from Ace Rental at O'Hare airport in Chicago. (And I'd done a lot of car rentals traveling for my job.) It's at an offsite location requiring airport train transit and a shuttle. It was so worth it!! The shuttle drivers there and back were thoughtful and kind, along with providing a smooth drive. The person at the desk who helped me was also kind and thoughtful. She made my checking in very easy. Told me they'd just gotten a group of new cars and I would be the first driver of mine. I was delighted to drive a snazzy looking Hyundai Elantra. Amazing for the economy price! When I returned, I drove right in and was directed to the wash station where a pleasant young man told me he could check me out. Took two minutes. Wow! Never do business with Expedia.com We made reservation through Expedia.com for rent a car for 8 days at Chicago O'Hare air port, quoted price was $570.20 for 8 days. When I received my credit card statement, I was shocked to see the charge of $894.74 and I have called several times to speak to customer service representative, results was negative and I am very frustrated and disgusted with that kind of customer service provided to me. I like to know do I deserve this, why I was treated like that I feel this is dishonesty, and very unprofessional. Where you quoted something and you get billed charge for something else. She asked me to sign a paper did not explain or warned about any extra charges ,did not provide us with copy of any paper or the copy of the paper. I signed & left, when I got back to LA. I called collision insurance, at their office the lady told me some body will call back in 1-2 days. I waited.... nobody called, after 3 days talked to the guy after talking to a girl who forwarded the phone explained the gas tank was full & I never agreed with any additional insurance, we declined, after arguing for some time he agreed to refund for fuel charges but declined to refund for additional collision damage insurance , called again next day talked to a lady and she declined to refund any more money & informed me that I signed the document, explained that I did not need any additional insurance as I already have it. On 11/6/23, I rented a car from ACE Care Rental in Rosemont IL. This was not a pleasant experience by far. The first car smelled of smoke so bad that I could not sit in it. The second car I drove off the lot with but had to return it within 2 hours because the check engine light came on. The third car was moderately okay. I along with my sister return the car on Thursday November 9th. The Ace Rental Rep checked in the vehicle inside an outside with my sister and I present. No dashboard lights, no dents, or scratches. Everting was check as passing. On 3/12/24, I received an envelope in the mail from PurCo Fleet Service, stating I owe $2,105.95 for "Wrong Gas" for lost time of vehicle. I called Davin Jamison, claims specialist from the PurCo Company, he proceeded to tell me that the check engine light came on the next day and the vehicle was taken to the dealership and Ace was told that diesel gas was why the check engine light came on. I told Davin that I never put diesel in the car, why would I do that? He asked me if I had the receipts for the gas. I said it is four months later, why would I still have those receipts. I told him they were just trying to swindle money from me. I told him when I checked the vehicle in, there were no lights on the dash, so all of a sudden, the light came on the next day. I asked Davin had he or anyone tried to contact me about this issue, and he stated yes that he had called me several times. I told him he was a liar, if you called, why did you not leave a message if you are calling someone to get money. I pulled all my phone records from November 2023 - March of 2024, and I have no calls from PurCo or Ace Rental. My husband also researched and found out that if you are stupid enough (I am NOT) to put diesel in a vehicle, the car will immediately start to act up and shut down. So, tell me how it is possible that I drove over 40 minutes to the Rental Car Agency and had no issue with the car if diesel was in it. read more

Horrible company. Is off-site from airport for one thing. The staff inside the office are completely in professional and lazy. I sat for 45 minutes waiting to be served. Then the manager finally stepped in to help and when i got to the counter I had a problem with my reservation. He was unwilling to help and said he didn't have cars while I was looking and seeing plenty of cars available online. He was going to put me to the back of the line to wait. I ended up going back to the airport and renting from another company. The driver eof the shuttle also confirmed there was a massive surplus of vehicles and this was a common complaint of the manager and staff inside. They charged $100 for being 4 minutes late on dropping off the car, even though we were told we had a 1 hour grace period.

Rental was completed as advertised no additional fees or BS. Shuttle runs very quickly no long waits coming or going. Vehicle and facility were clean. Someone was complaining that they had to take a "train" and a bus to get there. Everyone takes a TRAM to the car rental facility no matter what company you use. For this particular company you have to take a five min shuttle bus to their facility. read more
