All I had to do was to call this office and tell them that I was ready for the rental. I tried to set it up a couple of days ahead of time, but they said "Just call us when you're ready." I was skeptical, but when I called, they sent a Lyft to pick me up within ten minutes. There were three guys that afternoon and they seemed busy, so it took about fifteen minutes to hit the road. Not effortless but not painful at all. Drop-off took about ten minutes, plus a drive back to the body shop. The guy that I dealt with both times was cool to chat with. He was working by himself that second day--with another customer ahead of me and the phone ringing off the hook--but totally kept his good humor. Great customer service. I had the car for a week and a half and didn't have any problems. As a side note, I will never buy a Kia Forte, but that's got nothing to do with Hertz.

When we showed up a couple days later for our reservation, the staff was helpful and kind - even made sure our model had AWD since it was supposed to snow on our drive back. They did a thorough job of assessing any marks before we left, and we were off. The car wasn't the most updated (no car-play), but it worked for what we needed it for! Smooth experience on our end.

Kudos to St Eligius, the Patron Saint of the Gas Station, for I only had to feed my vehicle two times at the Oasis of Thornton's. And St Hertz, thank you for not double charging me for the EV that you yourself cancelled. Upon my return, the staff took my keys with nary a question and so I've raised my review to four stars. I do take issue, however, with the way a fellow customer was treated. They announced that they had to call the customer's bank and they proceeded to do so via speakerphone. I heard the entire transaction, from entering all the digits (heard every beep), heard the robotic answers, etc. I was sitting at least 10 ft away. They could have taken the call off speakerphone.

After I provided my insurance claim number and they vetted it with Allstate. I was set to pay a reduced insurance claim rental at $73 per day for a mini van even re confirmed the day before with Libby. When I went to pick it up they did not honor it. The manager said they had too many people renting minivans for college moves and that I could rent one but not at the pre approved insurance claim rate of $73 instead I would have to pay $125!! Oh the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IS GOING to have a field day with this one as I have everything documented including my insurance company backing me up! BIG mistake Enterprise! BIG!!!

Stay away from Avis in highland park. I never thought to check out a car rental location for…read morereviews beforehand as Avis is a big company. However, this tiny location is a small franchise inside the highland park ford dealership. After reading the horrible reviews of this location, this now makes sense. The Chicago Avis location called me this morning (1 hour away) to say the car I reserved in Highland park was now there. I have no idea how a reservation I made in highland park ended up transferring to Chicago without my knowledge or request. I then immediately called highland park Avis to confirm my reservation and an angry desk clerk named Oscar answered, claiming I never had a reservation there (as I was looking at my confirmed reservation.. see picture) screamed at me hysterically refusing to help and hung up on me. So, I called back again and screamed and hung up on me again and all this was even before the location even opened. But it doesn't matter, he should've tried to help locate another large SUV since it was Oscar who canceled and transferred my reservation I had for over a month. I never knew that this could happen. But, before he hung up on me, I offered to send him a screenshot of my confirmed reservation and he refused to let me, so here it is on Yelp. Maybe somebody at Avis corporate will actually care and reach out to me. I was shocked at his unhinged response because he was the one who changed my reservation without my permission. I had planned to drive my son to school and now I have drive an hour away downtown Chicago (during the riots) to pick up a car and then wait in line for another 45 minutes. Oscar encouraged me to contact Avis corporate to file a complaint against him, as clearly this egomaniac angry desk clerk either did not see his job as a threat or he just hates his job and hopes to be fired. Someone who actually likes their job would do everything they could to help others. This clearly was not the case. I would like to point out how wonderful all the people (namely Yvette) were at Avis at 214 N. Clark St. in Chicago in trying their best to help me locate another car closer to me. Unfortunately there were none and I still had to go to Chicago but at least she tried to help.

They even had the indecency of making it sound like the problem had been with my phone since, mysteriously, they tried to call me *four* times that day and the system said my phone was inactive - which is so not true since I had been making and receiving calls all day long. But even so, notifying me that they didn't have the vehicle they had promised with less than 8 hours to plan for an alternative is not okay for such a large national company. All I was offered was a terrible excuse for an apology. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. On the other hand, the Enterprise just down the street were really nice about the situation and were happy to offer us a vehicle after this whole mess.
