I rented a car from SIXT in. Washington D.C on May 8th and parked it via hotel valet. I picked up the car May 11th and dropped it off at the airport. Soon after I received a speeding ticket for May 9th. I have emailed the company numerous times with photo and documentation proof that I was not in the car when the ticket was issued and was still charged on my credit card $341.60. I would give this company a zero if I could. Do not rent from them under any circumstances. They literally told me my spouse was included in the rental agreement for no additional charge. I only noticed when I got home and when I called them the rep, who was incredibly rude, said, "dispute the charge, we don't care". I rent about 30 cars per year and I will literally walk before I would rent a car from this company. I normally use National which stands by their rentals and the customer service is second to none. Once again, this was a great rental. I have used Sixt about a dozen times and we have never been disappointed. This was no exception. We got a beautiful brand new M7. We had it for 4 days and the head turning was everywhere. This thing drove like a dream. Very smooth, quiet, luxurious, beautiful inside and out, and very fast. Valet parking will guarantee a front row parking spot. The ride was like riding on a cloud. The interior was colorful and very cushy. Like sitting in a comfy recliner. The sound system was unbelievable. Stereo sound better than at home. HUD is always nice to have. The cruise control was very responsive and safe, even in Chicago traffic. We changed the interior colors a few times, just for fun. It's a huge vehicle in this kind of city driving but it sure didn't feel like it. The Android Auto worked flawlessly. I did have to plug in through a cable but I'm always ready for this with rental cars. I used it for GPS and music. Upon return, we met Marcus. He is the man. He went over the entire car with me. He was super nice and easy to talk to. He helped us out with the return, and he made it easy to finalize everything before we left. NOTE: Fill the car with gas before you return any cars from any agency in Chicago. Everyone charges $15 per gallon. Lucky we did. The entire experience was great. Everyone was very nice. From check in, pickup, and return, everyone was super nice and professional. I will continue to use Sixt whenever I can. The cars are worth the cost. They are not always the most expensive either. A buddy of mine and I were in a class together. I got a 7 series for aweek and he had a small Nissan which he rented from a different known agency. His car cost double what my 7 series cost. I rented from this company and they are now attempting to hold me liable for alleged vehicle damage without providing proper evidence or documentation to support their claim as requested numerous times by me. They have failed to provide time stamped photos, inspection reports, or proof that the damage occurred during my rental period. There was also no proper walk around inspection completed at pickup or drop off, which seriously weakens the credibility of their claim. Rental companies have a responsibility to properly document a vehicle's condition before and after a rental, and customers should not be threatened with unsupported charges. They have now sent me an invoice. Additionally, attempting to pursue collections or pressure a customer into payment without adequate verification may raise concerns under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which protects consumers from unfair or misleading collection practices. Based on my experience and the number of similar complaints I've come across, this appears to be a recurring issue that deserves more attention. Run for your lives from this place! I went through Expedia, and I wound up with SIXT rent a car. I also bought my insurance via Expedia. When I went to pick up the car, the 20 y/o guy at the desk, talked so FAST, that I couldn't understand a thing he said. On and on, and constant asking for clarification of what he was saying. At some point, you are just like, 'Let me the **** out of here!' Got into car and started my trip. It occurred to me that they never did a walk around inspection with me, pre rental..‍ Also, speedy Gonzales, upsold me to more insurance for $113.00 I turned the car in after trip. NO ISSUES on trip. Couple days later I get a mystery email that said I have damaged the car. They send pics that aren't clear at all. They say they need few days to go over my response, etc. (will get back to me) I did not have any damages to car! The mystery email is not even signed by a human. Welp! Hopped on here to read through Sixt reviews after a really bad return experience, only to realize that I wasn't special. Seems to me that Sixt has mastered this scam and I was just the latest victim. I'm looking forward to learning how much Marcus and the O'Hare team will charge me for the rim's curb rash that they are accusing me of. Good thing i only parked in a driveway of a 55+ community while celebrating my mom for Mother's Day. My advice for folks who are forced to rent with Sixt. 1. Don't take the alternative car they're pushing when you pick up your rental 2. Take a video of the car before you leave the lot (be sure there is a date and time stamp) 3. Force them to do a walk around before you leave the lot 4. Make sure you let them know exactly what their M.O. is. They are charging me $651.25 for a scratch on a rim that I did not cause. Beware and take videos/pictures before driving off, including close up photos of the rims. I'm writing this in detail because what happened to me is part of a well-documented pattern that other unsuspecting renters need to be warned about. Upon picking up my rental, I received a damage report already listing a scratch on the front of the car. This was pre-existing damage, noted before I ever drove the vehicle. I picked up and dropped off at the Sixt location at O'Hare Airport, and while check-in started off smooth, everything after that was a complete disaster. We had a reservation for noon but went the day before to move it up to 9 AM. The agent accommodated the change easily -- great start. Unfortunately, that's where the good service ended. Even after confirming the new pickup time, I was left waiting over an hour for them to bring out the vehicle -- a GMC Denali with around 21,000 miles. That delay completely derailed our travel plans. We missed our stop at the Louisville Slugger Museum and had to drive straight through to Nashville instead. Once we hit the road, I noticed the Denali was pulling hard to the left -- at first, I thought it just needed an alignment. I was wrong. Halfway through the trip, the driver's side wheel started making loud clicking sounds and felt dangerously unstable, like it was about to come off. My family -- including my mother, who already struggles with anxiety -- felt unsafe continuing the drive. When we got to Nashville, I immediately went to the Sixt branch there. They swapped the Denali for a smaller Volkswagen Atlas, which barely fit our group of six and all our luggage. I explained my frustration to the staff, and they told me to speak with the branch manager when I got back to Chicago. When I returned the vehicle at O'Hare, I asked for the manager -- and was told no manager was on site. They took my information and said someone would contact me within 48 hours. I had booked a reservation more than six months prior to getting the vehicle. The rental period was for six weeks to accommodate my visit to Chicago. The day prior to picking up the vehicle my reservation was cancelled! The representative I called stated the vehicle was not available. Instead of finding a replacement they extended "the pleasure to do business in the future ". When I called to try and find a new vehicle, the representative found a much smaller model vehicle with a 30% increase in the price over my reservation. He stated since it was less than a week the rate was higher. I was furious. This is the worst response and customer service I have ever experienced. Don't rent from Sixt! read more

I would strongly advise caution when renting from this company. First, I was required to sign paperwork acknowledging I was receiving a non-smoking vehicle, yet the car reeked of marijuana from the moment I picked it up. Unprofessional and unpleasant start. Second, when I dropped the car off, I accidentally locked my phone inside. Since it was before the rental counter opened, I called their main office. The gentleman I reached was understanding, professional, and assured me not to worry -- he couldn't help on the spot but said once I landed from my flight, I could call back and they'd arrange to ship the phone. Unfortunately, I never got that person on the phone again. From that point forward, it was nothing but daily run-around. Every representative I spoke to insisted I file an online ticket and "wait for a response." After a full week with no progress, I called three times in one day: * The first time I got the same canned response about filing a ticket. * The second time I was hung up on during a transfer. * The third time I was told it was "unreasonable" for me to expect my phone to be shipped back -- that my only option was to travel back in person to pick it up. This is completely unacceptable customer service. I went from one employee who went out of his way to try and help me out, to multiple representatives who couldn't care less. The vehicle we booked did not fit all our luggage (fine), we sought an alternate vehicle and when the employee suggested a much larger vehicle and I asked how much she said "$50". I said "It's just $50?" She said yes. When I received a bill from Sixt it was $50 per day, over $300 for our weeklong trip. I drove this car so carefully and parked it in my garage. The core issue is procedural failure: Upon returning the vehicle to the Chicago O'Hare branch on 10/1/25, a Sixt employee instructed me to leave the key and waived the joint, final inspection. The vehicle was not inspected in my presence, and I was not alerted to any damage at that time. I found out there are so many people experiencing the exact same problems. What an incredible experience! I had reserved the car initially with another company, and a day before traveling I saw that Sixt was offering a better vehicle at a lower price so I took the chance. The amount of online information was comprehensive and efficient, so I could check in in advance and go straight to my car. I was able to quickly pick up the keys from the very friendly gentleman at check-in, and get right on the road. Sixt had the best signage ever, so I knew exactly where to go throughout the process. The car was upgraded, in excellent condition, and performed well throughout 3 days of my travel. When I returned, the woman who accepted the car back was so kind (I think her name was Tanisha, but I'm not 100% certain), she quickly assessed the condition of the vehicle, got my receipt and sent me back to the terminal in no time. With the most reasonable pricing, an upgraded vehicle, fast service from friendly people, and technology that kept me informed throughout, this was a wonderful experience. read more

Don't rent from these scammers. We rented and returned a car in the same condition - no damage to the vehicle, which was confirmed by the attendant when we returned the car. Four days after we got home we received an email with a grainy picture informing us of a 3cm wheel well scratch and are demanding $465 in damages. A call to customer service was pointless. When I asked about my options - I was told to pay - no other options. Wish we had read the reviews prior to renting so we would have been aware of their habit of sending out fraudulent damage claims to other rentals. Apparently paying out millions of dollars in a class action lawsuit earlier this year has not stopped them from deceptive practices. We've filed a complaint on this unaccredited company with the BBB and will never rent or recommend this company to anyone! read more

I almost feel like these people at Sixt ORD set me up for a fall. The first time I rented from them was wonderful. I was able to get my car - a shiny, nearly new upgrade for free - without seeing anyone at the counter. I just picked up the keys in the lot and drove off. The return experience was flawless. The second time, though, was awful. I wasn't allowed to bypass the counter and was given a heap of a car, a big gas guzzler with high mileage and tens of scratches all over. It wasn't what I ordered at all. I went to the kiosk and said what do I do about the scratches? The guy showed me their photo record of all the scratches the car had. It was an overwhelmingly large record. I thought, OK, at least they know. I took a half dozen photos just in case and drove off. It was lucky that I took the photos. The car was a heap, lousy to drive. When I returned, they said all was good. But two days later I received a damage report for a preexisting scratch. Fortunately I had taken a photo of this particular scratch before I left the lot. But there were so many scratches on this car that it was pure luck that I did so. I filled out their web based form about damages with my photo attached. I hope that this solves the problem. I'll update this review when I hear from them. But I've rented cars for decades and this has been one of the worst experiences I've had. I feel that this company rented me a heavily scratched up car and now is trying to get me to pay for a scratch that they will never repair. Someone who doesn't take photos in the lot before they drive off would get a big bill. And even then, the poor lighting in the lot would make seeing all the scratches impossible to see and photograph. Hopefully, I've dodged an unfair bill by luck. A few days after returning got an email saying there was damage. Charged $322 for a scuff on the edge of one of the rims. It was a great experience. Picking up the car at the counter, Brian the rental agent was friendly and excellent. Then I walked outside to get my car and the 2 people working that counter were extremely helpful in assisting me with the features of the car. The fleet of car options is top notch. The cars newer, and they are WASHED and VACCUMED for the new customer. Hertz does not always was their cars, so sometimes the spell is questionable. Laslty, I enjoyed washing the car. What is unclear is if there is a grace period for returns. I was about 30 minutes late, and I called the main number, and it was very unclear if I would be charged an extra day. Luckily I was not, but I was concerned. Also there is no direct number to the counter that I found for quick questions or emergencies. I sitll prefer, personable experiences, not robots. Overall, I had a great experience. I am new so not sure how they treat return customers. I would like a discount on future rentals. Also, they should watch their prices to be competitive with other options. And Leo, my return guy was energetic and friendly. Was great to see smiling faces, all around at SIXT. read more

Rented a Mazda CX5 May 4-10 2025. Rental location was Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Was too dark in parking garage to do proper inspection and link for reporting damage would never load properly. I ended up taking a picture of the significant scratch damage I thought may be an issue. There were lots of scratches and chips on every body panel though. They ended up filing a damge claim for a very small scratch 5cm-10cm on lower front bumper cover for a bill of $808. This company is a scam. read more

Pulled ahead of lane and told to go back. No way to back up. Attendants simply yelled at me. In the rush, discovered that I left phone in car. Left luggage with wife, who was ill and I hurried back. I had to return the car and I was hastily given another car with pre-existing scratches in multiple locations. Smartly, despite already being an hour+ behind schedule, I had all preexisting damages noted in my new rental agreement. When I returned the vehicle the following week, however, I was instantly met with an individual readily prepared with a camera who quickly took pictures of the car. It all happened so quickly as if they expected damage on the vehicle as the photos were happening even before I exited the vehicle! Luckily I have my notations of the preexisting scratches in my rental agreement, but nonetheless I continue to get emails from the SIXT claims department for more than $800 of damage. Caution!! RUN FROM THIS RENTAL COMPANY IN ORANGE!! Company customer service is a travesty on a whole new level. Highly allergic to Customer Service skills, the clowns at SixT are truly special. They can't do much for you outside the work you must do for yourself ahead of time with their jinky f'ing app!! Apparently these guys somehow don't have my email or my phone number but rented me a car nonetheless. Supposed to be a monthly subscription + but somehow ended up being only a 2 day rental. Now here's where the fun begins, where I was reportedly a car thief by keeping it as booked on a contract term longer than what they had. SixT will extend your subscription for as long as you'd like to pay the monthly invoice with the same method. Assuming maintenance and updates are performed for the car (included) I was renting, suddenly my vehicle was stolen, or so I thought. Nope! Turns out that's the way they communicate that the rental contract is up! That nightmare was a week ago and still ongoing as I still have no answer to "WHERE ARE MY PERSONAL ITEMS?" Customer service just hung up again (4x now) as I wait to speak to a supervisor. NO RETURN CALLS & NO REPLYS 1 WEEK AFTER WRONGLY RECOVERED After reporting the rental stolen, Chicago PD said it was already reported stolen. Long story short, SixT is highly careless of its customers' details, let alone servicing them. I tracked all the info and shared all they needed to recover their rental, including tow yard address, invoice # & processing policy for them to recover it. This so called rental company hasn't contacted me as of late. They can't return a call or email me to save their lives. No info a week after they stranded me, literally! No clues where I can recover my wallet, clothes, house keys, laptop, RX medicine and another's personal items. Stranded in Chicago and these bozos could care less. "Kindly try again sir, try to write our lost and found department. Just resubmit and they will respond within 24-48 hours." Every agent that repeated the wrong number associated with my rental agreement could not find the correct number that I previously submitted. Corrected multiple times by multiple means to no avail. More of a company that arrives like a short-bus jamboree, you're better off renting a scooter then to play rental car with these sorry bunch of a-holes!. SixT values more of its clever hold music song they had made themselves then training their own or hiring some consultants for the business they think they're in.
