Had a definite written quote of $160 to clean the 8 x 10 rug. They have fine print that allows them to up to the price to ANYTHING that they want. When we got the bill it was over $530 dollars for the rug. If you don't think it is fair, she will HANG up on you. Well, we paid the bill on time, but NEVER EVER going to recommend or use them again, They must not need new customers. I have both invoices on my profile pics if you want to see for yourself. The yellow is the drop-off quote. The white is the BILL when the rug was picked up.. Look at all of the add-ons, and we never were called to ask about it. Seeing is believing. Also look how she crossed out CALL ON PRICE OF CHEMICALS. Many add-ons and NObody called to ask us. Know the facts:: 1) When you drop the rug off, they will have you sign the fine print which says that they are not responsible for anything EXCEPT that they will charge you for whatever "they decide" to do with your rug. 2) They do not need to contact you for any reason to increase their service/charges to your bill. You are at THEIR mercy to let them do whatever they want to your rug once it is in their possession, and they WILL charge you for it all too. 3) In addition, they will add an additional $30 dollars a month (minimum) and 18% finance charges if you don't agree to pay their adjusted price, so you might better be prepared to pay 3 times the amount of the quote. After 90 days they can do whatever they want with the rug and turn your bill over to collections. 5) The first quote when you drop-off means absolutely NOTHING. The final bill might BLOW your mind. read more

Cleaning seems ok, but they have the worst customer service in town. I got 3 different stories about the turnaround time, another customer and I were pretty much accused of lying about having not received any call about pickup (weird-- it was as if the Ace woman thought the other customer and I came in and cooked up a story together). Communication and processes are very confused, and the blame-the-customer mentality is really inexcusable. They wouldn't even help me carry the big rug to the car. I am sure someone else can do this work so will go and find them. read more

I'm leaving a two star review rather than a one star since I did not personally interact with them. Also, they didn't totally ruin the rug, although the repair is quite obvious. My boyfriend, who lives much closer to Ace than I, took the rug in and picked it up. I selected Ace because of all the good reviews and supposed reputation for being able to repair fine rugs.That's why he handled it rather than me. I assumed from all the positive reviews that this company actually did stellar work and was THE place in the Triangle to get rugs repaired. My young dog chewed about 2 inches of the binding from a silk rug from Pakistan that I was given as a gift. She probably got some of the rug under the binding, too. I'm not sure, but the chewing was not extensive. In my mind's eye, I was expecting that the binding could have been redone by binding / sewing it over the rug fabric and the repair might have been mostly unnoticeable except for the rug might have been indented a little at this place, which was right next to the fringe anyway. Ace looked at the damage and quoted $80 for the repair. The reason for the high price, I was told was because they'd have to dye some yarn to match the color of the binding. This price seemed high but what was I to do? So I agreed to proceed. Rather than rebind the place the dog chewed, Ace glued about 2 inch by 3 inch square of some kind of semi firm backing material to the back of the rug. They then GLUED the "binding" yarn to this backing and the front of the rug by looping the yarn back and forth - front to back at the edge of the rug using a big hunk of glue rather then binding the yarn through the backing material and rug edge. It looks awful. I certainly could have done this my own self rather than pay an "expert" $80 to do it. I don't even use the rug anymore because I dislike the repair so much. Also, the yarn they dyed to match is only about 85% match. I'd not have mentioned this last detail, since I'm sure it's hard to match dye color - but they wanted $80 because they had to dye the yarn so one would think it would match. To conclude, just because a company gets great reviews doesn't mean they really do good work. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. It was my mistake for trusting the reviews. read more

We had a sisal rug that had a water stain. We wanted to know if it could be cleaned and removed or what the options were to have it cut down to remove the spot. The woman who worked there was of little help in navigating our options and seemed uninterested in having us as customers. She was incredibly rude. We decided to have the rug fixed elsewhere. We used Ace once to replace some carpet that had worn out on our stairs. We were very happy with the service and carpet replacement, so we decided to contact them again for additional basic replacement/cleaning services. I called and spoke with Jennifer to get more information and set up a time for them to come out and give us a quote. While I was speaking with Jennifer, she actually interrupted me several times to say we would be better off finding someone "local" to do the work. Jennifer's attitude and suggestion that we hire someone else local really took me by surprise... Is Durham not local to Raleigh? I wanted to use Ace again because they did good work the first time. Unfortunately, Jennifer determined Ace did not want the work. I will NEVER contact them again! It's a shame that the lady answering the phone is running off wanna-be repeat customers. read more

WOW! I decided to invest a substantial amount of $$ with Ace Rug Cleaners to repair, clean and replace the fringe on an oriental rug. I also paid for pick-up and delivery and replacement of the old pad. To my delight, the rug was delivered back to me in tip top condition. I was so pleased with the finished product. Additionally, the 2 gentlemen who picked up and delivered the rug were very careful, very considerate and bent over backwards to make certain the new pad and rug were placed just how I wanted them to be. I have recently on two occasions used Ace Rug Cleaning Company; first to clean and "package" two oriental rugs for storage, and second, to bind another oriental rug. I used Ace in the past so I was hopeful that I would have another good experience. However, when I picked up my wool rug the other day it looked exactly like it did when I dropped it off almost 7 weeks ago! Yes ... I know it is difficult to clean animal body fluids but I got that rug to them immediately and expected it to at least look better ... especially after $188 dollars later! They kept reminding me that I signed a paper that said they didn't guarantee to remove stains but ... really?? I mean what kind of business is it that signs away their liability for their work and still takes your money? I mean if I ran a business that didn't have to "perform" and still got paid ... well, it would be a pretty good gig. I know they probably tried (but I guess I really don't know that) but I sure do think it could have looked at the very least a little BETTER than it did when I dropped it off. read more

Don't use these people. Not sure how they've been in business 50 years as they won't stand behind their work. Brought two rugs in to be cleaned and repaired. Five weeks after dropping them off owner repaired the wrong rug, then not only refused to refund the repair charge but was rude and condescending on the phone - this after admitting the mistake. Poor internal controls, poor communication, unwillingness to make good on mistakes and rudeness to customers. Not a good combination. read more

I ended up with a pet stain on my favortie rug. I tried to clean it myself but that didn't go so well. I asked a friend for some advice and they suggested I try Ace. I'm glad I did. The staff was helpful and they got the stain out. It was definately worth the trip. read more
