We secured the Chef's Tasting menu as the ultimate experience to spoil my mom for Mother's Day... The food (each course) was expertly crafted and full of wonderful flavors. Started with Wagyu/Angus burnt ends and savory red chile sauce. Tender and delicious. We then moved to the almost crusted Chilean Sea Bass with cilantro basmati rice and locally sourced microgreens and asparagus. Blew me away. The best course, IMO, was the duck confit with corn and hatch chile bread pudding. Accompanied by macerated blueberries and delicious red amaranth micro greens. Chef's kiss. The bouillabaisse was multilayered and seafood was perfectly prepared. To round out our evening, we indulged in a key lime pie that was refreshing and the perfect close to a wonderful meal. Being a native New Mexican who hasn't lived in northern NM for over 26 years, I, too, need a break from my native cuisine! BFF and I were visiting the plaza and I wanted to eat linner somewhere different. As I researched restaurants prior to our trip, I found this gem and they have happy hour 7 days a week! After reading the many great reviews, we arrived approximately 15 min early prior to them opening as we were not sure how busy it would be on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived prior to the bartender but she showed up shortly after we did and took a seat at the bar!. Now, I genuinely do not like bar seating as I prefer a table, and they have one that sits 10 people but since there was two of us we did not want to hog up that much space. Our server was great and we started off with the brussel sprouts and elote corn ribs with red chile butter. Both were delicious and off the charts! I opted for the chicken sando and BFF ordered the steak frites. Both were delish and full of flavor! We also had a really good pinot cab. Our bill was a bit pricey for their HH menu (116.00 incl 5 glasses of cab total) but worth every penny! Came highly recommended by our hotel. Located about 15 minutes outside Taos. OMG, our favorite meal while in Taos!!!! Regular menu was affordable and servings were large. We opted for the $100 per person tasting menu and were not disappointed. We sat facing the kitchen and were able to see all the meals prepared and artfully arranged. Chef Gabe and his staff obviously have so much fun cooking together. Such teamwork. We had the opportunity to taste many of the dishes on the menu including poached pear salad,burnt ends, lamb chop, Brussel sprouts, meatball,celote corn, duck, and four delicious dessert samplings (key lime pie, peanut butter pie, crème brûlée, flourless chocolate cake). My family and I had a really good visit at ACEQ. The were very accommodating to my 18 month old son, which is always helpful. We ordered the corn ribs as an appetizer and we all loved it. I ordered the chicken sandwich as my meal. I don't love it but did enjoy the fries. The rest of my family enjoyed their entrees, and I was slightly jealous because their food did look really good. Such a fun place for excellent food! We arrived when the doors opened and spent time in the bar area. Great happy hour drink and food selection. We enjoyed the brussel sprouts and the mussels. We enjoyed watching the open kitchen area. Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves throughout from wait staff to kitchen prep! If a picture says a thousand words, I need to say nothing more and all the food looked as wonderful as it tasted. The wangus was highly recommended and one in our party ordered the fillet and found it lovely. The bouillabaisse was beautiful but the star of the evening was the daily special, meatloaf. Our first time here and we will definitely be back. The service was outstanding. Warm and friendly and professional. We shared the Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer. Wow! I think the best Brussels we have had. Crispy and flavorful. Mains were the Duck Confit which was good but we were disappointed that they were out of the bread pudding side. The food was so incredible it brought tears to our eyes. We had the pear salad, burnt ends and pork belly arroz and everything was just amazing. We are visiting from Denver and it was far and away one of the best meals we've had in years. Our server was wonderful and so kind and attentive to our 9-year-old daughter. What a gem! We dined for the start of my partner's birthday week. The restaurant is cozy and gives you a nice sense of place. The service team is genuine, laid back, and still attentive. We had some well prepared cocktails: their house paper plane had mezcal in it, but I swapped in the more traditional rye. They also have a nice list of wines by the glass. The mushroom cakes and elote corn ribs were both unusual and delicious. We opted to order from the specials: the sablefish was perfectly cooked and a lighter option. It was nothing short of mediocre. I can honestly say I will not be spending my hard-earned money here again. The prices were set at fine-dining levels, but the experience was nowhere close to matching them. The food was slow to come out and bland when it finally arrived. The guy on the grill kept shouting "fire," which became more distracting than entertaining. My parents took my fiancé and I to this restaurant for my birthday and it was incredible. I ordered the wangus steak and it was by far the best steak I've ever had - I could have eaten five of them if money was no object! The drinks, desserts, and everyone else's food were also very good. The pork belly dish my fiancé ordered had a gorgeous presentation, as did my parents' food. I imagine the steak probably would have as well if I had not specifically requested it by itself - I can't handle my food touching other things. Excellent service and atmosphere as well, with gorgeous artwork on display. We saw a waitress carrying 3 full wine stems in one hand without spilling them, which was crazy. Ate here tonight and gosh darn, what an experience. From A Tribe Called Quest to the best key lime pie we've ever had (and my mother-in-law makes the second best one we've ever had)--these people know a graham cracker crust. Now let's go back a bit earlier. We walk into the restaurant and realize we could have brought our eight year-old here. And that's awesome because you should, but this is also a great parents-night-out place, and that's what we were there to do. We had an AWESOME waitress who knew the menu inside and out and who made the ordering experience fun. They coursed our meal to our specifications and the wine recommendation (we had the Tempranillo and it was delicious) was divine. Then there was the main event: lamb chops, black cod puttanesca, truffle fries, beef bourguignon, and seafood bouillabaisse. Also GRILLED SOURDOUGH BREAD. And a grilled Caesar. Just say yes to grill marks. Each dish was better than, and as unique, as the last. We shared small plates and big, laughed, found our way back into the kitchen talking to the chefs (I was essentially "invited in" on account of the awesome open kitchen layout), and we literally passed around each dish three times into a circle until the last of the pea puree and garlicky broth had been extracted from its earthenware. One last note. The bathroom has two things: hundreds (and maybe thousands) of Polaroid pictures of people caught, at ACEQ, having the time of their lives. And two, a dancing bears Grateful Dead sticker. And there's actually so much more about the place (and not just the bathroom) from the art on the walls to the welcome note on the front of the menu that explains the experience you're there to experience. Not as wowed this time around. I feel like this place has turned way too bougie since even the last time I was here which was roughly two years ago. Came back again intending on having dinner with my boyfriend while on vacation. Now, mind you, this place was originally on the show 'Diners drive ins and Dives' and proudly boasted Guy Fieri's face or signature was somewhere on their wall. There's no trace of ever knowing that left in the place and I think they had it removed. It was packed beyond belief. Which, I guess is a good thing for business but it was a lot more chill and relaxed and less uptight than the night we went on. I felt hounded every few minutes to order something. Was even reminded a few times that the very last steak was available. While it was fine and excellent service, it was a bit uncomfortable. The menu has changed to an upscale fine dining selection. I didn't come here for trendy fads like Korean Corn ribs and bone marrow. Entrees were around $40 for soba noodles or scallops. $30 for a stuffed portobello. What about a burger? No wonder the steaks were running out for the night. Beer had gone up a bit in price. Which I could understand if it was an imported selection but most of everything was from the New Mexico area. Needless to say, I'm disappointed it changed from a cute owl themed dive where I can get a beer or cocktail and potentially maybe a fancy burger to a place where it would cost me like $150 to get a drink and meal because they want a Michelin star. Maybe I'm in the minority on this one but I didn't go on vacation to be met with literally what I left behind in New York City. read more

Ordered the corn ribs (generous portion, heavily sauced, bit too salty for my taste), steak frites (beef perfectly prepared, fries on side were doused w a pesto sauce that took away the crispness, not good), and the chicken sandwich (very tasty). We had thanksgiving dinner at Aceq. They offered a lovely selections for a set menu. The price was fair for a holiday feast and portion size was on par! The staff from hostess to waiter to bar tender were very kind and smiling through all the hard work serving a sold out holiday meal. We had the prime rib and Turkey plate they were exceptional ! They are really putting their heart souls into the space and it feels great to be apart of the energy. It's a small place be sure to get reservations. It's nice for a date night. Kool Vibe. The place itself is tucked away in the back of a parking lot so it's not easy to spot from the road, but the ambience, artwork, and everything else once you get inside are wonderful. My parents and I went after skiing and they were super sweet and accommodated us, even though they had reservations for the evening. It's a small space but beautiful decorated. The fire outside is pretty and so warm when waiting for your table. I loved being able to see the kitchen and all the wonderful dishes being plated. This was my first experience going to this restaurant. And the customer service was superb. Our waitress answered all of our questions and took care of us through throughout our time there. We ordered the grilled Caesar salad and the marinated tomatoes on top where delicious. For my main I got the tiger shrimp pasta, which had spicy sausage and olives, I wouldn't think of those items are going together, but it was well balanced. My parents ordered the special which was baby scallops, steak and vegetables and they enjoyed how well the steak was cooked, my mom was a little sad that the baby scallops were like a pea size, but we're also in Taos, New Mexico, not near the sea so It's to be understood. Over all the dish was so good and no one took home leftovers. We will definitely be back. I want to try more things on the menu . read more

We stopped by here for some drinks and appetizers after hearing a lot of good things about it. This place was very clean had a nice vibe and staff was really helpful. They suggested the Bison Bone Marrow appetizer and we also ordered the Bacon Wrapped Dates and the Jalapeno Bistro Fries. Everything was really good and were gone quickly. Really cool place. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is it is really pricy for the portion sizes and the Bistro Fries were a bit greasy. We would definitely stop in again. read more

Because of some of the negative reviews, I came close to cancelling my reservation with ACEQ. I depend on reviews when considering a restaurant that is new to me. I realize that there will always be negative reviews as a means of revenge. I'm glad I disregarded the negative reviews. ACEQ was excellent in all aspects and a wonderful dining experience. I had read that the steak was tough and virtually inedible. I actually asked our server, Brad, about this and he refuted the claim. My steak was perfectly cooked, tender and delicious. The mashed potatoes were excellent, as was the asparagus. My wife had the yaki soba and loved it. The key lime pie was delicious. Brad even treated us to a dessert made from his grandmother's recipe. Oh, the mescal "margarita" was enjoyable. You will love the setting of the building and the interior. Arroyo Seco is an interesting and unusual small community. Elevated, rustic and definitely a SEXYFOOD experience. We had a beautiful time in this small town gem in Arroyo Seco, service was attentive and loved the vibe here. We had 4 appetizers.... elote corn ribs that resembled "Pulpo... pretty clever and tasty, German meatballs that were mouthwatering, delicious bacon dates and lovely beet salad. I had their sea bass special which was absolutely divine.... I still dream of it, explosive flavors indeed. We finished with a night cap of their refreshing Key Lime pie. While the food was interesting, we were quite disappointed with our experience at Aceq and definitely do not feel that our experience was worth what we paid. It took a long time to receive food. Salad and app dishes were not cleared from our table when there were ample opportunities for it to have been done including two visits from the person who brought our next course and he still paid no attention. Nor did any other servers or the hostess passing by. And the flies were terrible in the restaurant. The open air windows initially seem nice with the cool evening air, but the flies worsened anytime we had food on the table. Literally, we were swatting flies away in between trying to take bites. I even had one hit into my nose while I was taking a bite. PLEASE install screens in the big windows in your restaurant!!!!!!! The fish special portion size was small. Lastly, when I made the reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating anything, and I indicated affirmatively that we were celebrating a birthday. Why bother asking this question if the event being celebrated is not even acknowledged verbally throughout our entire evening? A simple "Happy Birthday" would have sufficed. My food and service was really truly great. My night however was thoroughly ruined by what I later found out to be the owner of the restaurant. I came to eat by myself and was given the option to sit where I liked. I sat at a 2 top next to a 4 top that later gained a joiner, the owner. Not only was he taking very loudly and vulgarly about completely inappropriate topics, he then yelled at me a question. To which I told him that's not how you ask that question, and he proceeded to ask it the same way again. I was so upset I finished my food as fast as i could and got out of there. Nonetheless, the staff was very apologetic and righted his wrong. But I can't help but wonder, if he treated me like that, I can only imagine how the staff is treated daily. read more

Let me preface that I've been in the food industry for 40+ years. I usually check reviews before going out. I should have listened to what the 1 star reviews were saying. Farm to table? No. This was food off the back of a truck. Decently plated Sysco food. Not farm to table. You can fancy up food off a truck as much as you want and industry folk will still taste it after 40 years of eating it. Japanese cocktails? I lived in Japan for 15 years spent a lot of time in high end cocktail bars. Another no from me here. Unbalanced and overpowering flavors for $16. Half that price would have been almost acceptable for what was served to us. If I'm paying $16+ for a cocktail it better be from a mixologist that knows what they're doing. Music was far too loud and I was forced to hear a young and arrogant owners take on why I was wrong about my opinion. I'd be shocked if this owner was over 30. I've seen these mistakes time and time again. The other table next to us had the same complaint. We yelled at each other from 2 feet away to hear it. Charging this much for sub-par food put some damned sound dampening in this tiny room you're trying to host in. The prices are outrageous for what was served. People leaving 5 star reviews are lying to themselves to feel better about spending 5 star prices on 1 star food and service. I was excited to try this place based on the good reviews. I'm upset with myself for not listening to the bad ones. There's far more truth in the 1 star reviews than the 5 stars here. read more
