    Curry Goat, Jerk Chicken

We're lucky to have an abundance of Jamaican spots in LA. I've never been to a Jamaican restaurant where the food was disappointing. But Ackee Bamboo's jerk chicken and curry goat are next level. The meats. It's all about the meats. They are so tender and flavorful. We're talking slow-cooked, fall-off-the-bone, juicy deliciousness. It's a good idea to call ahead if you're hungry. We called about 15 minutes ahead and waited another 15 minutes when we arrived. The woman up front was nothing but friendly. It's an easy-to-miss, small, hole-in-the-wall joint with a few tables inside and outside. But we couldn't care less about the atmosphere. It's all about how good the food is. And my wife and I loved and devoured our meal. We'll be back!

BOMB!!!!! FLAVOR BOMB!! I ordered the brown stew chicken plate to go. It came with plantains, cabbage, festival bread and rice & peas. Also bought a side of festival bread and those things were huge. I lucked up mid day , found a metered parking spot without issue. I also bought a passionfruit guava drink i believe it was , that was delicious as well. Service was both quick and friendly. The inside is not that big and not ideal for dine in. But i definitely recommend to try this place, it was sooooo good. Im drooling thinking about it.

Large oxtail plate was so good. Delicious, fresh food. Very flavorful. Meaty oxtail and not a bunch of bones. I only took off a star because my festival was a tad undercooked but I'm sure they were just doing their best to get my order out quickly. If i hadn't ordered takeout and noticed once I had already left, I would have mentioned it and I'm positive they would have replaced it. It was so good tho, best festival I've had minus the little rawness in the middle. The coconut crunch cake (I think that's what she called it?) really sealed the deal for me. It was delicious!!!! Very happy to see an La staple like this on the west side. I will be back!!

I am in loooove with Ackee Bamboo! It has been my favorite Jamaican restaurant for the past 5 years. The bbq jerk chicken is so delicious. They have daily specials for some of their top food items. I have tried many Jamaican restaurants in the city and honestly, nothing compares! The place is always clean and staff are friendly. P.S. get a side of jerk bbq gravy if you are a big sauce person like me!

Yonette and her family/team welcome regulars and new customers as if you are a guest in their home. I was unable to reach the top of the fridge (I'm short) for my bottle of water and her husband thoughtfully put one on the counter for me! The food is consistently excellent, from the spices used to create the jerk, to the depth of flavor in the curries. I love how tender her oxtails and goat curry are, and her cabbage is an outstanding side (I always get extra to go). I also love her vegan curry, which I love as much as her meat dishes! The beef patties are flaky and filled with a mix of earthy flavors, perfect for an easy heat and go snack or meal. I've been eating her meals since before covid when she was at the farmer's market and her consistently great quality of ingredients and value for the skills she uses is unparalleled.

I was shocked at how good each new thing was. I've since had it a few more times. My only complaint is that the shrimp roti isn't as good as it could be. My shrimp were over cooked, and the flavor is missing something. My favorite has been the pepper goat roti. BABY! That is about to be a problem for my wallet. What a delicious creation. What a beautiful restaurant. Glad it exists. This place has a new fan out of me.

I tried some griot and thought it could have marinated longer. The portions felt very huge. The service here is really friendly and accommodating. The food came put after not too long of a wait and it was hot. The space is cool. It looks like an old diner. There's konpa playing in the background and games like Uno & Dominos available if you want to play. We also got two Haitian beef patties to go. They're legit! Came with pikliz and another sauce I never had before, it was green with a bit of spice and tang. The main downside is the location. It was fine in the daytime, but at night I wouldn't want to be alone as a woman here. That's just me though. Parking is metered on the street ($6/hr)

As I have stated before I'm harder on island cuisine cause I'm an islander. Yes I love the concept I love the look, but I this is a spot I'd take my friend who liked Caribbean and didn't like their meals seasoned. Ordered the one beef and one chicken patty but when. Our order came she informed us they ran out of chicken. Not sure if they make the beef patty there or not? The filling was cool there was definitely seasoning. The crust was good. Everything with the patty reminded me of a JA Patty. I'm not saying they Tower or Tasty but it's good. The brown stew chicken was begging to be a start but ended up like an extra on a movie. The cabbage I wouldn't even call it a side of cabbage more like a garnish of cabbage was missing that mark. The peas and rice I was pleased they used dried peas and not canned and I was pleased they used coconut milk but they didn't use enough and the thyme scallions ginger allspice cloves salt were all missing like a wanted poster. Now we all know oxtails price has increased from dirt cheap high as hell, but oxtails for there price need to undoubtedly be the star of your show. These weren't the star of any show. When you eat oxtails your suppose to be like damn licking them fingers more than the colonels chicken. I have to give to give the young lady with the short hair her props she had a larger party plus us ordering and she still was able to multitask efficiently.
