I bought the 2019 Corolla from Ackerman. Randall Yu was great. He showed us a 2018 used model and the 2019. He helped us get to a price and compare the two. He had a lot of enthusiasm and he made the car shopping more enjoyable. You could tell he cared about getting a car I would be happy with. Ackerman gives you 5 years of maintenance (an additional year to Seeger) and everyone we interacted with was knowledgeable and friendly. Had a problem with service for headlight restoration. Unable to resolve with the Service Adviser, then I spoke with the Service Manage. He was condescending, rude, and finally told me to get out of his office. I wrote a letter to Ackerman Toyota that was not responded to - six weeks later. I'll never go back to them. This dealership is really good at not telling you their fees in their service department and then surprising you with $125 fees to simply tell you something is broken when you already knew was broken hence the reason why you brought it in. They were jerks, they would not admit that they did not tell us upfront, they were very sarcastic and I do not recommend this service department at all. This is our 3rd purchase with Ackerman. Our go to Sales guy is Tyler. Tyler does not push, does not over sell and actually listens to the customer. We have called, emailed and visited Tyler with various questions and have always received a timely response. We even go to him for recommendations for auto body work, car washes, etc.. I came in to get some info for my parents. Within minutes, I was greeted by someone who introduced themselves as one of the owners. This made me happy as someone who has had horrible and wonderful dealership experiences. This owner was very courteous, respectful, and spoke to me like any person would. However, the salesman he pointed me to... Ray, spoke to me like he had a million better things he could be doing, and that I was simply a waste of his time. He was abrupt, demeaning, and impolite. I don't think he smiled at me once. My friend assured me I was not being sensitive, as she was the first to point out his passive-aggressiveness. If you have a Toyota and need service, do not take it here. I took my car here for oil changes and maintenance from 2013-2016 because I had an extended warranty. It was nice getting everything done for a lower price, but certainly was not worth it. I took my car recently to have it looked at by a shop in Affton (they were AMAZING!), when the mechanic opened my hood he pointed out to me that my battery was leaking for A LONG TIME. How did he know this? From the battery acid EVERYWHERE on the engine and parts by the battery, I mean COVERED. It has corroded the metal clip that holds the battery in place and possibly the battery line. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes. They also are cleaning it for me since I have had MULTIPLE oil changes since this has happened and not only did NO ONE tell me but they did not clean up the battery acid OR fix the problem. I know Lou Fusz is a great place because that's where I bought my car. Do not come to Ackermann. read more

Came into this dealership for an oil change. Gentlemen was so so nice, quoted me for the oil change. I get the bill and it is $10 higher than quoted. Obviously not a big deal to most people, I however questioned the principle-why would you quote someone at a price and then give them a bill $10 higher without presenting them with the information of the extra charge before performing the services? Shady way of doing business and not informing the customer of charges before the service is performed, thus making an uncomfortable situation for the customer. New facility was beautiful and the staff got us in and out quickly for our state inspection despite long turn times at other facilities

Disappointed cause after taking my car in for service my wheel lock kit was stolen as well as my emergency tire repair kit stolen. I had my dash cam set up so I could monitor this place and kept the footage I may take legal action as this was a second time they did shady stuff. Although there were a lot of questions and back-and-forth, Randall was always patient and made sure he did his best to make sure all parties were satisfied and understood what was what. Does anyone remember the game Leisure Suit Larry? I feel as though he came to life with the salesman who we worked with at Ackerman. Let me break down what I suspect is a typical Ackerman experience for you in great detail. We scheduled a test drive for a specific used vehicle. When we arrived, the salesperson had acted as though he had no idea who I was. We then had to go over again what vehicle we wanted. He first brought out a model that was not what we wanted to look at but eventually was able to find one that fit our needs. On the test drive we liked the car even though it had high miles for its year but that was because it was a rental. It was certified so we were not too concerned but would have gotten it looked at by a mechanic just to be sure. When we arrived back at the dealership the salesperson then went on to explain how they price their cars right and would not be willing to negotiate price in any way. This seems a bit strange to me as the price of the vehicle was a bit high, especially considering it has been on the lot for nearly two months. If the price is right according to KBB, wouldn't it have sold? Also by their logic someone trading in a vehicle would receive full KBB trade in value from them. Anyone who has ever traded in a car knows that NEVER the case. The fact that they suggested this was the norm as car buying has changed "since the Internet" is laughable. It's not 2002 and I didn't use dial up to log into AOL to search for our next car for crying out loud. We wanted to test drive a competitive model at another dealer so we left. Ultimately we were not able to find what we needed elsewhere. When we reflected on the experience we thought maybe it was a fluke or the salesperson was having a bad day. Because we wanted to give them another opportunity to earn our business, we reached out to the general manager to share with him what occurred. Needless to say after two weeks he has not bothered to call us back. Eventually was able to reach the used car manager but he gave me the same old bologna on "how they price their cars to move" and that the internet has changed things. How is that vehicle moving after 81 days on the lot! Overall I will say the salesperson and manager acted as though they could not be bothered to sell us a car unless we were willing to pay full asking price. The whole process just left us feeling very unwelcome and unappreciated. Perhaps it was this one salesperson, but their willingness to be prepared or even try to resolve anything seems to be the representation of what is the norm at Ackerman. Because of this experience we have had to expand our search for a preowned Sienna to dealers outside St. Louis. In the few short days since we started, we not only have been able to find more competitive pricing but we feel as though every other salesperson WANTS to earn our business by being welcoming and responsive to our requests. Ultimately if you want to have that old school sketchy feeling from salespeople who feel extremely sleazy, Ackerman is the place for you. If that's not for you, then go ANYWHERE else. read more

Oof. Arrived at 2:40 for an oil change and quoted an hour. At 3:35 an employee came over to tell me the oil change was finished and went over $1050 in services that I "needed". $70 for a torn windshield wiper. $200 for spark plugs that I just had replaced-apparently they just tell you what's recommended w/o actually seeing if that's the case. A whole bunch of other unnecessary services that had recently been addressed with a full tune up at another trusted mechanic. Finally, at 4, they pulled my car up so I could leave. I was irked that it took nearly a half hour to bring my car up as it was a total waste of time for me. I'll stick w/ the Valvoline from now on, who can get me in and out in under 20 minutes for the same price and less predatory practices. read more

From the first contact with Meghan, Dave in financing, and all the way through today when I needed an IDOD inspection on short notice, they have been phenomenal and kind. Everything with them is so quick and painless, and they always explain anything I have questions about. I have not dealt with any unpleasantness from employees, and they always seem happy to show up to work. Many, many Kudos to this Toyota team. I feel truly cared about both personally and vehicle-wise. I love my 2018 Corolla and will stick with Toyota for years to come. If I could leave zero stars I would. This dealership has caused so much unnecessary stress this past week. My Corolla broke down Monday, and a mechanic friend gave us an idea of what might be happening over the phone based on what lights we told him were on. We thought the dealership would need to fix it, so we called Ackerman Toyota. We told them what lights were on, what was happening. First, they told us that they'd have to run two diagnostic tests that we knew weren't the problem. Then they told us they'd have to run a different diagnostic test which apparently costs $600 (and seems absurdly high). Yet after this test was ran, they still didn't really have answers for us aside from that they were going to replace our entire dash which would take 4-6 weeks and cost us $6300 with parts and labor. They also told us that the air needed recharged, even though we told them the a/c problem was associated with everything else going on. Even if we did need it done, we did not tell them to recharge the a/c. Yet Friday, when my husband went to pick up the car, they charged us $825 with part of that being the A/C. They also wrote in the paperwork that "customer wanted it charged." We did not want any work done without first figuring out finances and getting a second opinion. We took the vehicle to our mechanic friend for a second opinion, and sure enough he was able to find and temporarily fix the problem in a matter of seconds. The part that needs replaced is only $450, not $2200. I feel like we have been completely ripped off, and I am beyond frustrated with how this experience ruined our week. I wish we would have just taken it elsewhere to begin with. EDIT: I received a message on my Google review saying they were sorry to hear my experience wasn't great and to contact GM Brian. After several phone call attempts, I finally got a hold of him today and he was the most unhelpful, inconsiderate person I've ever dealt with. All I wanted was my $250 back for a service WE DID NOT APPROVE, and to let them know that a different mechanic figured out the problem in a matter of minutes and how stressful last week was because of this experience. He spent several minutes not letting me get a word in, talking down to me, and blaming my husband for our issues. I have never been treated so poorly by a business in my entire life. I will tell everyone I know to avoid this dealership at all costs. read more

Well I drive off so fully satisfied that I told my sisters and friends.. guest what? They bought brand new Toyota's with the same superior service. I never thought I could say that a dealership has integrity, honesty, and best practices, well after going to Ackerman Toyota I had to change my mind. After, all it's a women's prerogative. I didn't buy a car at Ackerman. I only take my car there to get serviced. I'm only speaking from a servicing perspective. The sales reps here might be the nicest guys in the world, but I cannot really confirm nor deny this to be true. What I can verify from my own experience is that the Service Center at Ackerman's is below average. The actual service to my vehicle is great. But, there is more than just the finished product. There is the friendliness of the staff. Nada. The guy that I deal with regularly (I think he is the service manager) wouldn't know a smile if it slapped him across the chin. My experience has also been that he is condescending. He once chastised me for not changing my oil for almost 7,000 miles. Look, I know the CW says change your oil every 3,000 miles. I'm no mechanic, but what held true for cars over 30 years ago cannot be the standard today. But, even if it was, I don't need a lecture. The cashier isn't terribly friendly either. She's quite thorough, but not looking to win any congeniality awards anytime soon. For example, I was about to check out of the line, and handed her a coupon. She told me that I should have presented it at the time of service, and I couldn't use it. Um, no. I'm sure your machine still takes coupons upon payment rendered. Don't get me started. I'm not telling you to avoid Ackerman. The quality of the work is excellent and you will be satisfied with the finished product. Just don't expect anything above and beyond. Even Jiffy Lube vacuums my floor boards for me. Ackerman is just there to do the job. No more, no less. read more

I've been going here for a while prior to selling my old car to this place. The repairs/shop has good service, friendly people, and they show you your parts and let you know what's wrong with it. That's all good and fantastic. I highly recommend this place for genuine toyota parts for toyotas. however, i'm not overly fond of the dealership side of this business. I was selling my first car because it got into an accident and I couldn't afford to fix it and my parents told me it wasn't really worth it to fix. That's pretty upsetting. One of the salesmen told me it's just a car. they come and go. There was very little sympathy. I did not appreciate that. I had another salesman who was a bit too cars-sales-man like... if that makes any sense. he said things like, i'm working for you and i felt him schmoozing me. i ended up not loving the toyota camry and not loving the dealership. i will say, however, that they are decent people. i had forgotten my plates so i asked them to take it off my old car for me. they were willing to comply AND they even grabbed my garage clicker out of my old car for me. All in all, this is an ok dealership but I wasn't impressed. read more

Service technicians are absolute morons. Went here and left my car. Asked the manager if they would need my keys. Was told an affirmative NO and so I went on my way. When I returned to pick up the car, the technicians said they were unable to do anything on the car because keys were not there. Duh! Not happy. Not happy at all. Son was told at numerous places his problem with his car not starting was NOT an alternator. He went everywhere including AAA towing and private reputable mechanics. We advised him to use a Toyota dealer, since his car is a Toyota. told him we'd help him With costs as they would be more money. Ackerman told him it IS the alternator. We trusted Toyota!' I would THINK they checked it out first before they just changed it out and charged him the high labor costs and price Did you check all the wiring out? Did you check the tow package wiring? The remote start! Do you run a diagnostic on everything before charging hard working people a 1,000 during a time when money is an issue for many?? thats only good and ethical practice. $900 plus and Car is still not working, only a day or 2 after, car doesn't start up! . He has lost numerous hours from work and has incurred Uber costs. You need to make this wrong a right. You refund the money for an alternator that was not the problem, or fix this at no charge. We've had Toyota's for many years. You of all car repair places should be the experts on your cars. Thank you. read more

Went here for an oil change and the service was great! During Saturdays they are open from 8:00-2:00 and appointments are not necessary, just first come first serve. The people who work here are pretty friendly and nice. They know how to treat their customers right so I will definitely be coming back here for car maintenance. Maybe the only issue is that the waiting room is a little small and can get really crowded. Waiting time was a little long too but understandable especially for a Saturday. read more

I normally wouldn't really think to review a car service place but I consistently have great experiences at Ackerman and wanted to get the word out. I bought my Prius there and have had every service it has needed done at Ackerman. They've NEVER tried to sell me anything outside what Toyota recommends which is really refreshing. I did buy the Toyota Care Plus maintenance plan which gave me reassurance that my needs were covered. Always very friendly and quick with my car. I've never made an appointment. They always have donuts in the waiting room. Just really appreciate having a place to take my car that is clean, friendly, quick, and not pushy. Highly recommend! read more

I just bought my first brand new car in 26 yrs here. I had an excellent car shopping experience with salesman Randall Yu. He is sooo nice and patient and explained everything I needed to know about the Rav 4 I was looking for. I went for a test drive in a Rav 4 but wasn't satisfied with the color choices available. I know that seems minor, but I plan on having this car for a long time. Randall never pressured me to buy a car from their lot, if Ackerman didn't have the Rav 4 I wanted, he would do everything he could to find the one I wanted. And thats exactly what happened!! I now have my beautiful 2018 Rav 4. Another perk is that when you buy a new car you will receive free oil changes for the first 3 yrs from any Toyota dealership. HOWEVER....Ackerman Toyota offers an additional 2 yrs of free oil changes, for a total of 5 yrs free oil changes!!!! I highly recommend when shopping or even looking at a car here to ask for Randall Yu, he will do an excellent job for you! He kept me informed every step of the way, even called me on his day off. Service techs did a great job finding what my 4Runner needed to be safety complaint. Passed safety and emmesions without any major headaches. My service advisor accidentally selected work I didn't authorize but they took care of it at no cost to me-- they even replaced missing bolts that I was missing. We have purchased 3 cars from Ackerman in the last 13 years, and still own all 3! Their sales personal are very low-key and do not pressure you into buying anything you do not want. They work with you on financing and getting you into the car you select. They are very competitively priced and you get a very fair deal. We have had all 3 of our vehicles serviced by Ackerman as well. Again, no pressure to preform unnecessary repairs. The service rep will go over everything with you prior to doing any service and provide you with an accurate quote for the required maintenance. I have NEVER been unsatisfied with their work.
