V therefore once in a while I need something quick, but overall i do not shop in this store, mostly overpriced, understaff, etc. I do like their flower station so I stopped one early morning to get fresh flowers for a friend in the hospital I had to be there before her surgery so I was in a bit of a hurry, picked a bouquet and nobody at the registers, there was a man with a full card behind me, we are both looking around, finally a middle aged woman came by and she asked if I was paying with credit card, my flowers were $12.00 something I said no I have cash, she asked the man and he said yes, so she said I'll take you first, I was shocked and upset, after waiting that long now I have to wait again because the man has a FULL cart, I was so angry, threw the flowers on the counter and left, I should have call a manager but I really didn't have the time. I have been shopping at ACME since it opened. Mixed reviews but my complaint today is with the service. Specifically one cashier. Don't have her name and wouldn't post it if i did, but she's nasty. Older women, black hair, black glasses and nasty. Did i say NASTY. She doesn't greet you. She just grunts at you. Doesn't say "Thank You". If she doesn't want to be there why is she. She's obviously not happy. And she takes it out on customers. AND why does ACME keep her on, or at least why don't they speak to her? It's terrible! It's been several years since Acme has been at this location, taking over A&P back in late 2015. We've been shopping here for many many years and never had any issues, but there are days where things don't go the way we want. Some of the food items we find can be pricer than other supermarkets we go to, despite the fact that this is our local supermarket. They however have sales that will help lower the cost which helps in many ways. Of course, every product has its pros and cons on the prices, keep in mind. Some items are priced reasonably. Also, keep an eye out for expired foods, liquids, lotions, etc. Service here is okay, but some days when there understaffed, it can be tough to accomplish tasks quickly because of that. I also would appreciate the workers on the floor would have interaction and ask someone (us) for assistance. The renovation that took place last year and which was finished early-mid this year was well needed and it turned out nice. I give credit for them doing that, as it has a pleasant feel. This place is the real pits. No more baskets for small orders and today the had NO BAGS! Covid is over... Bags shouldn't cost 5 cents anymore. You are the only store that does this now. No one around to help you. Employees are treated like crap (as i am told by them). A lot of food items expired by date and still on the shelves. They will soon do away with the gas for points. Bad spoiled food sitting in cases. Just a disgrace! Please... Sell out to Tops or Shop Rite and do the community a favor! Also... No customer service phone number to complain... We mainly shop here for the convenience and location, but overall my experiences here are typically pretty terrible. When running a business I feel like THE most important thing, should be your customers. Employees don't really seem to care about anything that's going on around them. We live in a time where self checkouts are a thing. My significant other and I frequent these as they are a faster and more convenient checkout experience as we usually only end up leaving with a few items anyway. So I feel in the right when I say these should be tended to just as much as the regular register manned POS(point of sale). But the most recent trip and one of the previous ones we just stood around and waited for almost 10 minutes(was basically nobody else around)while the employees just talked and laughed and just completely didn't even acknowledge us when the scale alert went off, so we just went to a different self checkout and left. I lead with this because customer service is the most important thing when running a business, otherwise ANY retail company running a huge lack thereof, would not be in business. Outside of that there's just a laundry list of other things. Such as the freezer/cooler's always melting into the aisles. Tying into the customer service end of things I grabbed an item out of one of these coolers that was leaking onto the floor, it felt thawed out, and brought it up to an associate where with a straight I-don't-care attitude told me "I know" and that people say that all the time and they're not going to do anything about. I'm never in this store when there's not at least 2-4 yellow slippery cones throughout the cooler aisles. One thing we hate to shop for when we're in this store as well is the produce, as on more than one occasion we've spotted bundles of onions, single large onions, and other greenery(fresh dill, basil, parsely) all wilted(some with mold)or just not safe for consumption just based on appearance. I've even brought up a bundle of onions with mold on them straight to an associate because I didn't want an unsuspecting customer to purchase it. I'm very passionate when it comes to running a business and I don't dissect everything when I'm shopping at this location, it's just the things I run into when I do that are really unacceptable and make it an unpleasant experience each time I do. I do see hiring signs all over the store as well and am not sure if staffing is part of the issue, but I would really like to see this store become a better, held up to typical store standards/shoppability, type of store one day as it does sit in a pretty busy area and could flourish more than it already does In the future. read more

!BEWARE! the place is a garbage dump. Mold all over the place, filthy shelves/walls, freezers break down every other week so the product gets thawed out and re frozen, they don't check for expired dates so make sure you do, and if you experience issues don't bother with employees unless you want to receive an attitude and not get any help at all. Friendly employees, convenient location and good selection for the store's size. I go there a few times a week.

I had no idea this store had opened until I got a flyer in the mail. I knew A&P had filed Chapter 11, but it was only after checking the ACME site that I learned they had bought several A&Ps in Dutchess County, including this one. Well, it's better... Since they inherited an older store, there's only so much they could do in terms of layout, lighting, aisle space, etc. So the aisles are still narrow, and the lighting is so-so. The inventory is generally good, particularly the meat department. Sale prices and loss-leaders are competitive, as are their own brands. Not much else is. One of the reasons I shopped here today was because of a good sale price on one particular produce item (cauliflower). When I got there, I noticed they had only devoted 1 shelf, about 30" wide, to it, and less than 3 hours into the morning, they were already out of it. And it wasn't for lack of anyone available to restock it, there were numerous employees working on produce. I like the fact that we have another grocery store chain in the area, and it's relatively convenient for me. I'll certainly watch their sale flyers, but the lack of all-around competitive prices won't make this a one-stop shop for me. read more

This Acme in Pleasant Valley is by far one of the worst grocery stores I have ever been to and I've been to many supermarkets in multiple states. This particular store is disgusting and the food is not fresh at all. This store has so much rotten and expired foods on the shelves. In the produce department on my most recent visit, there were about 8 bags of oranges on the shelf, each bag had multiple rotting and moldy oranges in it. One of the tomatoes was rotten and turning moldy. On a previous visit, I saw a huge amount of fuzzy mold growing on several tomatoes in a package. Every pack of raspberries was covered in mold. None were fresh, all were moldy. Some of the berries were so moldy, they were stuck together with lots of mold. The 3 packs of strawberries they had were moldy. In the meat department, at least 7 or 8 meats were rotten. Those meats had turned brown and gray, and were visibly rotten in package. One of the packs had a sticker placed over the part of the meat that was brown/gray so to hide the rotting meat. Seafood didn't look too appealing. There are always tons of expired foods on the shelves. In the dairy section, I found cream cheese that had expired in July, 3 months ago. You could see all the black mold growing in the yogurt through the white bottom of the container. I found a whole row of expired mayonnaise that was dated April 30, 6 months ago. Multiple salad dressings with dates of July and August. When I was here in January, I found multiple chip dips that were over a year expired with a significant layer of dust on the top of the containers. I've found expired mayonnaise, expired salad dressing, expired protein bars, expired yogurt, expired cheese, expired condiments, expired baking cups, expired meats... the list goes on and on. Nothing is ever checked for freshness here, the amount of expired food on the shelves is alarmingly bad. The store cleanliness is subpar as well. When I was here this week, there was a strong sewage smell in the parking lot, and you could smell it inside the store near the entrance as well. The bottle return area outside the store has bits of broken glass scattered around near the machines. The floor inside most of the store is still old and worn. The freezers as the same from A&P, they were malfunctioning and leaking on the floors. The dairy and milk cases are absolutely disgusting. They're still the same from A&P and they are so filthy, they look as if they've never been cleaned or wiped down. The shelving, back of the cases, and area at the bottom under the grates along the entire dairy/milk cases are very filthy with tons of built up grime, dirt, rust and mold in many areas. The strip at the top has mold all along the surface. The store outside still has the same look as it did when it was A&P, old and rundown. No self checkouts here. The prices here are much higher than most supermarkets. Many items were a dollar or two more than other stores. When items are buy one get one free, they raise the original price so you're actually not getting the sale. Acme as a whole is horrible. Ever time I go into an Acme, I'm always shocked at how many rotten, moldy, expired, and spoiled foods are on the shelves. There doesn't seem to be any policy to rotate or check foods. Nothing in these stores is fresh. I've seen relabeled products where a new date is put over the old date and the rotten food is put back on the shelves. Stores aren't clean, especially many of the old A&P stores, such as this one. Prices are astronomically high, yet the quality, freshness, and stores are about as bad as you can get. I remember when A&P was in Pleasant Valley. That store wasn't great, it had issues, including mice problems, but Acme is definitely not any better. Management is nonexistent, obviously they don't care about this store at all. It's the only store in town and it's always been very poorly run. Honestly, I'm not sure how this store passes health dept inspections, it's been disgusting for years and still is. If you can, shop elsewhere. read more

What is with this store? When I got an Instacart order (as an Instacart Shopper) to shop here, I knew from earlier times (from when my brother W shopped here for himself) that things were tricky. But nothing could compare to the store today (some good, some bad) when I saw it. I mean, I wasn't crazy at product selection, but what I really couldn't stand was the checkout lines (if you try to put your cart through the line), you will only have 1 inch of space between the cart and the sidewall of the next register over/candy side with no real room on the other side as well. But what made this trip disastrous for this store, is that I felt like I left something behind (and had to make another trip in to double-check after I dropped off the order at my customer's address nearby). Product selection wasn't there. There were several things I just couldn't find, and even the one product the customer was seriously looking for wasn't on the shelf (probably out of stock)...even the Annies Mac&Cheese they asked for was not on the shelf, which surprises me: I couldn't even find it - even with an employees advice/help. I mean, the store is clean, but it feels a little behind in times. The floors to produce seemed a little uneven and didn't match the floor tiling to the remainder of the store at all, then add that to the fact that the shopping cart when bibbidy-bobbidi over the "potholes" as I went over the produce section trying to find all three items there. You add that to the fact that nowhere in the store did I find Acme's store brand PLASTIC cups at 20 ct - there's tons of Acme brand plastic cups at larger counts, and others at smaller counts. None of these matched what I was looking for. And the same just went for the specialty plastic silverware that the customer was looking for that just wasn't on the most-logical shelf...and I looked everywhere else too. I had items that I just had no chance of finding - but I'll have Instacart to thank for helping me find some alternatives on some, but even then, I found the one better deal for the customer and I bet they were happy (down candy aisle). What's up with putting the cold-cuts on a completely different side of the store than meats and dairy/juice? I found that to be very interesting and I had to cross the store to get from one item to another several times. And even then, I couldn't find the product I needed, but I found an Instacart substitute nearby. I've seen some disasters in some supermarkets before, but this would top the cake in disasters from my viewpoint. I'm glad the checkout employee was kind enough to ask her fellow-employees about the MyMixx card we had displayed on our screens to present them with. With such a large order, I'm very thankful the process went over well on both of our sides, including having to help bag the items as well as them ringing up the items. Also, before I forget, what is up with signage leading out? I found no signage leading me out onto Rte 44/Main Street - a critical part of knowledge when trying to get out with common exit criss-crossing at a traffic-light (this exit is a disaster to explain, let alone get out of if you are unfamiliar with the exit in question.) read more

The new guy at the seafood counter breaks it down and everything is put away by 7:15-7:30. I asked him why he does it so early and his response was he was done at 8....the other guy with the long brown hair never did this. Sunday I had to call up to the service desk twice while waiting at the seafood counter for 20 minutes to have someone come over to help me. There are never any small baskets by the door when you walk in you have to go searching at the checkout stations where they are stacking up and you have to excuse yourself to reach in front of someone waiting in line to grab one meanwhile a group of young workers are gathered around the service desk joking around and laughing. The produce section is often empty with only rotten stuff left. I go here way too often and always have a not so great experience other than the brunette woman in her 40's at the checkout who is very sweet. The guys that work in the Deli are also very friendly and prompt. It is way to close to my house to not go there but if I can go somewhere else and happen to be in Poughkeepsie I usually will. Only giving 3 stars because of the great service I get from the deli guys and the brunette older woman at the checkout. Other than that blah I'll remain keeping my expectations low. read more

Dirty store with apparently no food safety policy. Produce and meat sections have an odor on some visits that is concerning. I have contacted the national company and store manager on various issues and they are not interested in communicating. There have been no responses to emails or phone complaints that I was told would be responded to. Issues I have brought up. There is a strong unclean odor at times in both produce and meat sections. Produce is not well-cared for. Avocados are constantly old and beyond usability. Organic zucchini is old and shriveled. Asparagus is so old that the stem is dried and hollowed out and the tops are mushy. And each of these items I have witnessed every time I visit the store. After my last visit and experience I will no longer go back. It is not safe. I got to my car and realized that my fresh fish purchase was bagged with other food. I went back into the store, not angry. I wanted the young man who had bagged my purchase to understand that was not safe. His response, joined by the person managing the checkouts was there was nothing wrong with packaging raw fish with other foods. I went home and googled before doing anything else and felt site after site - Professional grocer organizations, food safety organizations and government sites clearly outlining that not only should raw fish be bagged separately, chicken, beef etc and all raw animal products shouldn't even be co-mingled in the same bag. I called the store manager who insisted as long as the fish was wrapped, they could put it in with other foods. I told him why he was wrong and he was not interested. He told me that I could ask to have my items bagged separately but it was not store policy. I told him that made me responsible for the food safety of my purchases which should be his responsibility. I asked if they had a food safety policy and he said no. I was dumb-founded. I called Acme corporate and was told by the person in the call center that they couldn't find any documents or records to share that outlined Acme's food safety policy or how to bag food safely. A ticket was opened and I was told I would have a response the following week. It has been two weeks and nothing. I will not return to this store. It is not safe. read more

Every single time I need a product from this store I have to search through all of the stocked products to find something that is not out of date. It is obvious that the expired items are put out front to get rid of. Im not talking a few days expired. I bought mayonnaise that was over a year old.
