I was pushed off to another moving company and that moving company overcharged me since they did not break down my furniture. It took more space on the truck. Multiple boxes are missing. Lots of glasses, dishes and glassware vases are broken and shattered. Furniture did not arrive in good condition. At this point it would have been easier and less expensive to use a pod to relocate my personal items and buy a whole brand new house of furniture. We used Acme Moving Co to move large pieces of furniture from our upstairs casita down to the garage. When we purchased the furniture, we saw how difficult it was for the delivery crew to bring them in so we knew we needed to bring in the professionals when we decided to replace them. We contacted Acme based on their great reviews on Yelp and from Nextdoor, a private social network we use to communicate and share information with our neighbors. In addition, our friends used them in December and they paid $135/hr for a big move but for us, they charged $175/hr for three helpers. We were somewhat time constrained but Paul and his team were able to accommodate our last minute request without issue. I was pretty worried about the "move" because we just painted our interior walls, but there was not one mark made on the walls. Paul expertly managed his team as they carried each piece through the halls and down the Double Quarter Landing Stairs. The "move" went very smoothly and we were so grateful for their hard work and professionalism. We could not have done it without them. I'd hire Paul and his team again in a heartbeat! read more

I will start with - that I'm not big on giving 5 stars, you have really to earn it and Paul and the crew did it on my latest move. We got his name from our Carpet Lady, before my wife tried to contact and got the quotes from a lot of moving companies, majority wanted a fixed 3 or 4 hours for a more then $100 per hour. After talking to Sue my wife decided to go with the Acme Moving Co. They were on time with a big truck, moved some of the furniture and other stuff, in less then 3 hours everything was done. But the real kicker was - when The Salvation Army refused to take some furniture (and we have to empty the whole house from it by 6 PM) I called Paul and he came back and took away all the furniture, saving me from a very big headache. This is our second move with Acme. Everyone else is nice and accommodating but Sue, one of the owners and office manager, is. It. If I had to describe her in a word, it would be bratty. She complained over any request I made. When we booked their services, I was unaware id have surgery right before the move. Therefore we had to reschedule the time and date. Which she let me know in no uncertain terms how we were inconveniencing them. Finally, we agreed to 3 guys at 2 hr min price in the original agreement. After my change she changed it to 2 guys at 3 hr min. Because it was like pulling teeth to ask for anything we just went with it. The movers came I'll-equipped but with a good attitude. By ill-equipped I mean that they didn't have the proper vehicle to do the move as efficiently as possible. The poor guys had to work twice as hard to get what should have been an easier move done. Prices are good - office/admin was not. Not sure if we'd use them for the third time. (First time they were great BTW but we didn't deal with Sue the first time). read more
