Mike came to meet my parents yesterday morning. He was on time and super sweet to my parents... I let him know that my Dad has dementia and Mike did a great job showing BOTH of my parents respect -- having great eye contact with both of my parents when he talked to them! It is so nice to see because many times people do not engage with my dad (like he is not there). It is so important for people with dementia/Alzheimers to "be seen". Anyway, after I showed Mike the layout I created for my parents new patio home (where they will be moving into early April), I told him I would be packing and unpacking their belongings (so they bring over what's necessary, and know where things are once they are moved in). Mike said "I would love to help you, but it appears that you will only be needing a mover". DUH! I am so sorry that I wasted his time. He told me that I shouldn't worry about it. He was so incredibly kind. I wanted to Yelp him to let others know that his heart is in a good place. Mike also shared two referrals with me and gave me a few tips/ideas for the move. Moving--it's right up there with death and divorce as one of life's most stressful events. When the owner of the spacious 3-bedroom condo my husband and I had lived in for over ten years decided to reclaim it, we found ourselves having to downsize to something about half as big. After a couple of weeks of frenzied packing, tossing out, and giving away, we realized we could not handle this move on our own. I'd heard about Senior Move Masters, and gave them a call. Owner Linda Diller immediately connected me with one of her team leaders, Susi Buck, who was a miracle of cheerful, reassuring efficiency. Within a few days, she took a look at our old space and the new one, took photos, emailed sample floor plans for each room, and answered dozens of questions. She arranged for the movers, and assembled a crew. The morning before the move, she and three other women came in and took over. By the end of the day, they'd packed up over 70 cartons of our stuff, to add to the more than 60 my husband and I had filled. Next morning, Susi was there at 8 am, with Gorilla Movers close behind. They were fast, friendly, and careful with our belongings. The rest of the team met us at the new place, gamely moved and re-moved furniture until it worked to our liking, and managed to fit our clothes into the closets, set up our kitchen, and arrange the overflow (sporting gear, cartons of books, etc.) in the garage storage area. When they left, our bed was made, our computers and TV connected, and they took all the trash with them to recycle. Now, a week later, we still have pictures to hang and details to smooth out, but we can't imagine having made the move without them. They're definitely move masters, and you don't have to be a senior--or even downsizing--to make use of their skills. We're recommending them to friends of all ages. Every part of our experience with Senior Move Masters was first rate! They recently helped my Mom move out of her home and into a 1-bedroom apt in an independent living retirement community. The service they provided was excellent! Every step of the way they helped my Mom with the difficult decisions of downsizing. They met with her (and the rest of our family), and explained their services, assessed the complexity of the move, and gave us an accurate estimate of costs. We then were assigned our team lead, Tricia, who was friendly, efficient, and savvy. Great communications throughout. And while she was efficient at getting things done, she never hesitated to listen to my Mom, attend to her as a person going through a stressful situation, and reassure her. These folks know HOW to work with older people who may be overwhelmed by the complexities of a late-life move. Everyone's feelings always came first! They assisted with the downsizing, did all the packing, arranged for the disposal of items that weren't being moved (looked for buyers, set up donation pickups, etc), and arranged the movers who actually loaded the furniture and moved it to the new location. They then unpacked everything, hung pictures, and cleaned away all packing materials. A big job couldn't have been more convenient for us as they took care of everything (while allowing us to participate all along the way). Friendly, honest and efficient services like this are hard to come by. I'd use them myself for a move even though I'm not quite a senior -- yet! And for our family, having them take the stress away from us, and work directly with our Mom was a blessing. This company made it so easy for us to move my mother who has Alzheimer's into a memory care home. It was important to mover her within 5 hours because of our situation and they did it efficiently with an hour to spare. They put everything back as close to the way it originally was including hanging pictures and making the bed so it would be the least traumatic for her. Recently my parents needed to move into an assisted living facility. How would my siblings and I manage that, however, while living over 500 miles away? Answer: Senior Move Masters! After my experience with them I would have used them even if I lived 5 miles away. They were the most professional movers I've ever used and they were filled with HEART! They expertly and carefully packed the items to move--and in a mere 48 hours not only transported the items, but set up my parents' new apartment EXACTLY as their house had been. My parents had enough stressors in the move--but walking into a recreated, familiar space with their belongings in place and their pictures on the walls was nothing short of miraculous. It helped them adjust immediately. Finally, I want to appreciate the CARE that Senior Move Masters had for both my parents AND me. They cared for me by making things easy and accommodating my requests. Should I add that ugly 1970's cutting board ("heirloom") to the move? They squeezed it in and said I could decide later. They helped me decide the volume of boxes needed and did it all for a remarkably fair price. This is not really a moving company. It's a compassionate crew of professionals who will hold you and care for you (and your loved ones) through a very stressful time. I've since used them a second time to help move inherited items--those that couldn't fit in my parents' apartment--to my home and my brother's home. Again, we got A++ service. What a concept! This company does everything for you! My friend moved from a two bedroom apartment to a one bedroom in the same Independent Living facility. They assisted with scale printouts of the new rooms with ideas on furniture placement. They pack everything and unpack and place items in the new apartment. While the liaison was pleasant and thorough, the estimate given to my 90-year-old mother to move her modest amount of furniture and household items was upward of $3,000. This was for planning, packing, and moving her 15 minutes down the road. One-Stop Movers, on the other hand, cost my mom $1,100. Granted, One-Stop did not need to help my mom plan and pack (my siblings and I packed her up), but really--$3,100 for a crosstown move? Ridiculous. read more

This company is fantastic. My grandma is a wonderful little lady, but moving her into assisted living was the challenge of a lifetime. She wanted to take EVERYTHING in her 3,000 sq. Ft home and fit it into a one bedroom apart. We worked with Trisha and she came over and measured everything my grandma wanted to take, then did a floor plan lay out showing my grandma exactly what will fit. Trisha was accommodating, kind, and a hard worker. She did a great job of relating with not only my feisty little grandma but also my mother and me. My Dad passed away and Mom and I were scrambling to get the apartment they rented packed up. Senior Moving Masters definitely came to the rescue. I called four moving companies before them - all were highly priced (mostly bigger companies found on the internet), all double what Senior Moving Masters charged us, and the other smaller ones didn't seem to be able to pick up the phone. I have moved many times in the past and, as everyone knows, moves are difficult -- lots of decisions, and lots of work! Senior Move Masters came very highly recommended, and I, therefore, decided to give them a try. Not knowing what to expect, of course, I was apprehensive how it all was going to work out since I was moving from my home to a Retirement Community and had to naturally downsize. Well, let me tell you, Susi Vine of this firm came to my home, explained the process thoroughly, took photos and measured all the furniture, and emailed me floor plans as the process was taking place showing placement of the furniture so that I could see if it met with my approval. Then, on the day everything was to be packed and ready to go, Susi came to my home with two terrific assistants, Vickie and Scott, and the three of them proceeded to carefully pack each and every item I had planned to take. Susi even recommended companies who would purchase what I wasn't taking, as well as places to donate the remainder. Susi also shopped for special shelves needed for my kitchen cabinets in the new location which took that burden off my shoulders. The following day, the three of them returned and assisted the movers. When they all arrived at the new location and the furniture was placed by the movers, Susi, Vickie and Scott remained, unpacked, and set up every single item for us, even putting together all the technical equipment for me. From 8am to 6pm on both days, they did nothing but work extremely hard!!! Yes, it is not inexpensive but after witnessing all the hard and excellent work by these people, it should have cost even more!!! After all was said and done, I must say it was the best thing I ever did for myself! Boy - was I impressed!
