I booked my rehearsal dinner at Acqua Ragazza almost a year in advance and paid for the event in full ahead of time. Over the course of planning, I had multiple conversations with both previous management and the current events team making it explicitly clear that the food for our event needed to be gluten-free and that there was also a shellfish allergy to accommodate. Unfortunately, the experience we received was nowhere near what I expected after that amount of planning and communication. We had approximately 40 guests seated in a section in the back of the restaurant, while there were maybe three or four other occupied tables in the entire restaurant. Our group appeared to have one server. Drink orders were barely taken, and guests eventually had to go to the bar themselves to get drinks. The appetizers were served buffet-style, which was not what I expected for a prepaid sit-down rehearsal dinner. I personally asked the owner three separate times to please move the appetizer plates to the tables and place appetizers on each table instead. My requests were ignored, and the buffet-style setup continued. Dinner service was equally disappointing. Orders were taken sporadically, dishes arrived cold, the pasta was severely undercooked, and the chicken was bland and lacked even basic seasoning. Most concerning of all, I was served gluten more than once. I was the bride who booked and paid for the event, and I had repeatedly communicated that gluten was an allergy--not a preference--and that the food needed to be prepared accordingly. After nearly a year of planning and multiple conversations specifically about dietary restrictions, this was unacceptable. Two of my guests eventually spoke with the woman overseeing the evening. During the conversation, she stated that there wasn't anything more she could do because she was "just the manager." However, I later confirmed that she is actually the owner of Acqua Ragazza--her name and photograph are listed on the restaurant's own website identifying her as such. That made the response particularly disappointing because we were under the impression at the time that we were speaking with a manager who did not have the authority to do anything further. After considerable back-and-forth and an initial reluctance to take accountability, she ultimately apologized to me, comped the wine, and provided a $300 gift card. I appreciate that an apology and some compensation were eventually offered, but neither changes what happened. This was our rehearsal dinner, an event we only get once. Instead of being able to enjoy the evening before my wedding, I was embarrassed by the service and worried about whether the food I was being served was actually safe for me to eat. I will not be returning to Acqua Ragazza, and I will be giving the gift card away. For anyone considering hosting a large event here, particularly if anyone in your party has food allergies, I would strongly recommend taking my experience into consideration. read more

If you look at the review under Angelica's post, for a bridal party, I am one of the bridesmaids that had a conversation with the "manager", or so she lead us to believe. Not one time did she mention that she was the owner, and maybe it is because she was embarrassed of how a bridal party of 40+ was handled. To the OWNER who responded to her post below: Truly- I cannot believe reading the response to the bride. Ignoring an ALLERGY that you admit was listed, regardless when the bride booked the reservation, is unacceptable. And then trying to say "oh well she didn't tell the server" even though you also said "well she only said gluten free pasta"... as a OWNER, you are SOOOOO lucky that the allergy was not as severe and that it was caught because let's be honest in some situations that could have sent someone to the hospital. Mistakes happen but to literally admit she told you guys about the allergy, regardless if it was a year ago (even though multiple people at the party confirmed she told the server- I get backing your waitress as the owner, again hearsay), but all of that was a lack of communication amongst staff. Own it girl. As for the food- again, we get it you're VERY proud of the dishes you served. Unfortunately, not everybody thinks your food is as good as you do. That is all I'm going to say about that- no sense of trying to convince you any other way. After I read you said there is no such thing as undercooked pasta... I came to the conclusion that there was obviously your ego involved there and there was no trying to convince you otherwise. This group of people are ones that don't tend to leave unnecessary yelp reviews. Truly neither do I. Even in some pretty bad restaurant experiences, I chalk it up to a bad night on their part being that I had been apart of the restaurant industry before. The reason why we are going out of our way is to prevent other groups from coming here and spending a ridiculous amount of money for service that was subpar. And truly, the most disappointing part of all of it was the fact that not once did you say that you were the owner. You made it seem like everything was out of your hands and you couldn't do anything about it. The amount of times that you offered to re-fire food, or give everyone desserts, made absolutely no sense logistically. You would rather not own up to the mistakes that were happening and just hand out more food. The problem with that is that it was already almost 9 o'clock at night. Everyone was already ready to go home after being there for hours. I don't stand by the fact that the customer is always right, but when a bride is spending thousands of dollars at your restaurant, maybe you should actually believe what is coming out of her mouth. And also not everyone is vocal about their experience so yeah, I did come up to you and things were vocalized to you. You kept saying well nobody said anything as I was actively saying something to you. I believe that nobody would have written a poor Yelp review had you been upfront about being the owner. After I left and found that out, we were all very upset with that outcome. Acting like things are just out of your hands and there's nothing you can do. Insane. Offering a $300 gift card to a bride that just spent thousands of dollars there for one of the worst experiences of her life on something that should've been one of the most perfect experiences of her life. Embarrassing. Because who the heck wants to go back to a place like that? Yes she accepted it at that point because she didn't want any more food. She didn't want your wine that you offered. She just wanted to go home. I think there's a little bit too much ego involved in the game here on your part. I hope other people considering booking a party with you definitely rethink. read more

My wife and I had dinner here last night, and all I can say is that is was one of the best, if not THE best dining experience we've had in a very long time. From the ambiance to the incredible food to the way we were made to feel welcome and taken care of, everything about our evening was perfect. Had a large family birthday dinner at this amazing new restaurant. When I walked in I was greeted immediately by the hostess. She made eye contact with me and spoke genuinely. The interior was nicely done, it felt very European. The aroma that filled the restaurant made my mouth water. It smelled fantastic. We ordered several appetizers. Polpette Della Casa, these meatballs were honestly better than my grandmother's recipe. Arancini Fritti, I have never had stuffed fried risotto like this, it was so delicious. Our next app was Bresaoloa E Burrata and the burrata just melted in your mouth. Last but not least was the Bruschetta. It too was amazing. We had baskets of freshly baked bread with a rich EVOO. I loved that everything is made in house. Their pasta is to die for. Their menu is quite extensive, they have something for everyone including Gluten Free. I am very impressed. Our large party of 10 ordered a variety of different entrees. We were beyond pleased with our selections. Our family tried a bit of everything. The presentation was beautiful but most importantly was how delicious it all was. I must commend our server and the staff. Our glasses were kept full, plates were constantly being taken away. The staff seemed to anticipate our needs and were so pleasant. I typically take pictures of all the appetizers and entrees but the smells were intoxicating and before you know it we had eaten most of the food. I didn't want to post photos of half eaten plates. Another major plus was that the owner came over on more than one occasion to check on our table. I give them a 10 out of 10 in every category. Atmosphere Service Food . We accidentally make a reservation on their "Phantom or the Opera" night, which made our dining experience entertaining in addition to tasty. We were greeted and given masks, and then seated immediately. Luckily we were near the piano, but not too close. Very talented piano player. Our server was very nice and knew the menu like she wrote it. No kidding, sounded like she had tried everything they served. This of course made selection of our main dishes easier. It was hard to tell what the ambiance would be like on a regular night because the place was decked out with a Phantom theme. Overall, nice layout, and even for the amount of commotion that night, the noise level was amazingly low. The food itself was just OK from my perspective. There were 4 of us, and 2 in our party really liked their selections. I tasted one of their pasta dishes and it was very nice. I had Salmon, which was nothing special. I think they should take it off the menu or make it Italian in some way. I could have had that same dish in a diner, it was just steamed with capers. I also had a side of pasta which was very ordinary. For some reason someone else in our party decided to have steak in an Italian restaurant, no Italian seasonings or pasta with it. They made one heck of a great Old Fashioned. If I'm in town again I'll give them another try and specifically have the whole meal Italian. Given the extra special night, that didn't upset their excellent service at all, it's hard to imagine these folks not having better Italian than I directly experienced. read more

Rounded up a 4.5! We had a great experience honestly. The only deduction was based on how hot it was in there - three of us were sweating out of our 4 party. Drinks were refilled regularly which is always fabulous. The appetizer was great (burrata), we all really enjoyed our main meals - they all also look spectacular. The desserts were all on point. Service was solid - they are still working through a few things and were honest with that which is welcome. The space is pretty and elevated for Mooresville which is very welcome. I'm in town visiting my Aunt and she took my family to this restaurant. She had been before but it was our first time. We had a reservation and we were seated right away. The hostess was nice and accommodating when we asked for a different table. Our server was nice but I think she was a little weeded with too many tables, so the service was a little slow. The owner, Tara, stepped in and stopped by a few times to help her out. I asked about what I could have since I am vegan. She and the chef put together a whole off menu pasta dish for me. Campanelle was the only pasta they have without egg (besides unprepared orzo). And I asked if they could do a sort of piccata sauce without butter. So they made me a lemon white wine garlic sauce with capers! It was soo good. And I got some broccoli rabe on the side (normally sauteed with just oil and garlic). All my family really enjoyed their meals, eggplant Parmesan, lasagna and parpadelle bolognese. They have a scratch kitchen and welcome special request and off menu dishes if they can do it. The owner was really sweet and welcoming and it was cool to learn a little about her story. I wish her luck in this endeavor and if I am ever back in town I would love to come back! read more

For a place like Mooresville, I was very impressed with the atmosphere and food. I think I told my colleagues this is a "big city" Italian restaurant. I enjoyed my soup and pasta (both the taste and the portions), and we were too stuffed to order dessert. One of my colleagues got one of the cocktail specials and seemed to enjoy it. We moved to the main course and started with the chef special, Stuffed Pork Chops with nuts and a wine demiglazed. Then we continued with the Filetto Di Manzo. This beef tenderloin, cut in house, perfectly cooked, was so tender. Topped with porcini truffles, vegetables and potato slices, couldn't believe it was that perfect. I grew up in Mooresville and recently moved back, so we have been trying out all of the new restaurants here. Most restaurants have pleasantly surprised us--but unfortunately, Acqua Ragazza was a disappointment. We made a reservation for six several weeks ago, expecting a nice dining experience, but what we got was beyond frustrating. When we arrived, we were squeezed into a tiny corner of the restaurant at a table barely big enough for four adults, let alone six. The area was so dimly lit that we could hardly even read the menus. I ordered the special, which was supposed to be mahi mahi with risotto and vegetables--except when it arrived, there was no risotto and just a small portion of vegetables. To make matters worse, a different waitress (not even our server) brought it out and casually mentioned that it was snapper, not mahi mahi. No explanation, no apology, just a completely different fish than what I ordered. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and careless. I had high hopes, but between the poor seating arrangement, lack of attention to detail, and mix-ups with the food, I won't be coming back. In response to the owners comment First of all, let me be very clear--I never complained about the auto-gratuity, nor did I leave multiple negative reviews on different platforms. Your accusation is completely false and frankly offensive. My issue was with the poor dining experience, which included being crammed into an inadequate space, struggling to read menus due to poor lighting, and receiving a dish that was not what I ordered. Instead of taking accountability for these issues, you're deflecting and attempting to discredit me. Regarding the food, your explanation about the server "misspeaking" is irrelevant. When a dish is presented as something different than what was ordered, it creates confusion and distrust. That's not just a simple mistake--it's a failure in communication and service. As for the table, if you truly believe a 60-inch table comfortably fits six adults (3 being large men), I encourage you to test that yourself. You also failed to mention that one side of the table was flush with the wall not allowing additional seating on the end. And while you claim to provide table lamps, we certainly didn't have enough lighting to even read our menus properly. If we had been given a properly sized table in a well-lit area from the start, there wouldn't have been an issue to "fix" later. The fact that you're blaming me for not complaining sooner just proves how dismissive you are of customer concerns. Since you brought up the auto-gratuity, let's talk about North Carolina law. Restaurants must clearly disclose mandatory service charges before the order is placed--either on the menu or a visible sign. If this information wasn't made clear to us before dining, that's a problem. Additionally, in some cases, automatic gratuities are considered restaurant revenue, not tips, which raises questions about how they're distributed to staff. Instead of trying to shame me for leaving an honest review, you should focus on improving your customer experience and treating feedback with respect. From the moment we were seated (and we had a reservation) we were treated very well. Our server, Karina was extremely attentive with just the right amount of return check ins. We appreciated her conversation. The owner also checked in our satisfaction and we let her know how much we enjoyed the meal. The ambiance is comfortable and not too loud. The tables are well spaced out and the chairs comfy. We love Italian food. And everything we sampled was wonderful. The appetizer was rolled pieces of risotto with a lovely sauce. The sauce was flavorful and full of tomatoes. Just right! Our dinners were just beautiful. The baked eggplant was cheesy and layered with nice pieces of eggplant in a nice serving dish. The veal bolognese tortellini was so flavorful and full of veal and beef. Each bite was better and better. And the pasta dish with Italian sausage and broccoli was delicious. I usually don't finish my meal but I could not stop eating this dish. The flavors all complimented each other. We all shared our dinners and could not stop raving about the dishes. For desert we had the lemonchello cake and this is one of my all time fav cakes. I dream of this cake! OMG! This cake was soaked in lemonchello and the frosting was a nice layer of cream cheese with just the right amount of lemon zest. The presentation on every dish was appealing and beautiful. From the appetizers to the pasta dishes and the desserts were all wonderful. The stand outs were definitely the bolognese and the limoncello cake was a must get. Listen- walking into this place was like a warm hug. The servers were so attentive, even the ones that weren't waiting on us. The food was so dang good. Bruschetta was 5 stars. The different colored tomatoes were delicious. The meatballs with the sauce and the toasty piece of bread- yes please. Also the bresaola and burrata. We had a large party so we were able to try different things. We tried several entrees including tortellini, gnocchi and the veal. Even with the appetizers we hardly had any left to take home, it was that good. The owner is so warm and welcoming and the space sleek and elegant with the perfect pitch of background music. Tender top round thinly sliced and lightly breaded veal, topped with prosciutto, tomato, and provolone cheese with San Marzano sauce. It was amazing. Great wine list exceptional deserts. We enjoyed our first visit and will be back in the future to compare. The Service aka Things That Are Awesome: -The attentive service. Our server was around frequently and always checking in on us. She offered to answer questions a couple of times (so many times servers don't ask at all or just ask once). She was truly professional. -The owner. Loved this little touch to pieces. -The backserver who brought our other dishes was just as professional as our assigned server and the owner. Impressive. -The hostesses. Doubly impressive that the owners are onsite and visible. The Food: - I always read the menus beforehand. I had to go to Yelp to find the menu and I've uploaded the current ones to share with you all. (Forgot to snap the drinks menu sorry, but there were some good suggestions on it). -I feel badly but I struggled a little bit with the menu. I can't eat cheese so my options were limited here. I think I came down to only being able to choose between the pappardelle, salmon or cod. -I asked my server if I could order the papardelle and add a protein like shrimp or chicken and she said no, the flavor components were set and no additions were allowed. I was a little disappointed to hear this bc my options were so limited and just pasta sounded a little bland. -Two of us went with the salmon and it was "fine". Two small potatoes, a couple veggies, an ok piece of salmon. I wouldn't order it again. -Someone else got the pappardelle and homemade pasta sounded so delicious but the dish was dull. And the weirdly crunchy mushrooms were unexpected in a not good way... a piece of homemade bread or garlic bread would have helped with that dish. -My husband got the bucatini and we all declared it the nights winner, and everyone said it was worthy of a reorder. -Meatball appetizers - 5 yummy meatballs hand delivered by the owner. Delicious. -Arancini - I couldn't try these bc of the cheese but the other three thought they were yummy. -Cheesecake - I couldn't try this bc of the cheese but my husband inhaled it :) The Ambiance: -The restaurant is very nice. Some booths, some tables, some high tops and some bar seating. We all said we'd love to see a happy hour at the bar, we all really liked the vibe and plan to return. Outside area in the back looked like it could maybe have outdoor seating one day too! -The prices are high. For that reason I expected people dressing a little nicer and treating it a little more like a... treat. There was actually mostly shorts and casual clothes and a lady comfortable enough to put her feet on a chair while eating. Kids too. I'm not making judgements on either comment, just establishing expectations for when you walk in. Casual is acceptable. (PS. Not all Italian restaurants are ok with kids so you're welcome for the inside info :) ) My opinions: -I'd love to see an option for bread or garlic bread alongside the pasta or even as an appetizer. It just feels like it belongs at an Italian place. -I try to eat relatively healthy and would love the ability to add a protein for an upcharge to the salads and pastas. I saw things I wanted to try but they weren't going to be filling enough without any protein. -We'd have loved some more apps with an eye to sharing. Had brunch with some girlfriends and we had the best time. We started with a bucket of bubbles Mimosas for the table and a delicious fruit plate of mango, strawberries, blueberries and melon. For an entree I got the polenta con gamberetti e salsiccia..... shrimp and grits. Delicious and the shrimp were huge!
