My husband and I went for his birthday to celebrate. I set up a reservation and when we got there we were sat at a table and it truly felt like we were bumping elbows with the next table over. The place felt so overbooked. It was so loud. The place gave the impression of being a rather nice place, with a dress code. Said dress code was not enforced, so please don't feel like you will be overdressed. Business casual is truly not a requirement as it says on the door. However, The food was delicious. My husband had the beef Wellington and he said it was fabulous. The chicken was pretty underwhelming, but that's what I get for ordering chicken at a steak house, so no points really taken there. Just overall, it was an alright experience, I just don't feel like it was the high dining that's costs the almost $200 check. The table cloth was faux leather so they could just.... Use windex and wipe it down between customers. One of the forks still had food on it. The table was wobbly. (which, it was suppose to be a nice restaurant, why are we not double checking tables before service starts??) I hate to be so knitpicky, but for $200 I expected at least a little bit of fine dining. A romantic steakhouse dinner like they claim to provide. So, TLDR; great food, underwhelming service and atmosphere. Also, don't dress about your outfit, they don't care. read more

All around a great dish. My wife got the pecan chicken breast which is always excellent. Only complaints were the steak was overdone but they corrected the mistake promptly. Nice atmosphere, I believe it was a retired bank. Nice lighting and a soft jazz background music. I went with the Hawaiian ribeye, which is their teriyaki-inspired take. The ribeye cap was the highlight, super tender, and the eye had a great sear and a lot of flavor. Overall a really solid steak, especially if you like a slightly sweeter profile. Got the cream corn risotto on the side. It was really good but very rich, definitely something you can only have a few bites of before it starts to feel heavy. My wife ordered the pecan crusted chicken. The portion was huge, but it stayed really juicy and had a nice crunch on the outside. Easy to split or take leftovers home. Cocktails were great too. The Negroni was well balanced and the blackberry smash was super easy to drink. They had a fried shrimp special (ninja shrimp or something?) and that ended up being one of the best parts of the meal. After all my years in mooresville, I finally tried epic chophouse and oh boy am I glad I did! Everything was delicious. We started with the cheese toast, which we devoured before the waiter could even bring over the appetizer plates. Everyone at the table got a steak of some sort and everyone was happy with the flavor, the temperature, and the display of it. This was my second time visiting Epic Chophouse in Mooresville and it's was just as good the second time around. The Ahi Tuna was our starter, always a good choice, and for Entrees we had the Petite Lobster Tails coupled with Mashed Potatoes and Green beans and a 10oz Sirloin with Shoestring Fries and grilled Shrimp. I hate to say but Epic Chophouse was a disappointment tonight. I ordered food online. Got the short rib with mash potatoes and added broccoli and cheese and Bbq Chicken with loaded potato cakes. Got home there were no mashed potatoes with the short ribs. The short ribs looked like a cut of roast and did not have flavor at all. I've had this dish before and loved it. My husband had the bbq chicken and he said it lacked flavor. The broccoli was undercooked and bland. Maybe it was just an off night for them. read more

Love Epic...the food, atmosphere, & service are all first class! Have only been to the Mooresville location and we usually go there 3-4 times a year. Only several minor things to cite for possible improvements: a). wish they would bring back the mixed artisan bread which was wonderful. It's no longer offered although they do have the cranberry/walnut variety. But we always liked the other breads they used to have, b). it's usually "chilly" in there so clients might want to dress accordingly, c). wish they would allow parties greater than 8 people during the Holiday season which they used to. We usually have 10-12 people in December for a birthday party but they no longer allow that so we end up having to go elsewhere. It's a bummer since all want to go to Epic, but guess they aren't staffed for large parties during that time. Will try again this year if we can break it into 2 tables? Overall, we still love Epic! read more

The service was very good. The wait staff knew with a party of our numbers there would be a guaranteed tip. The food was so-so. I felt it was severely over salted, and I like salt. The NY strip was nothing to write home about. I felt it was an average piece. The potato was average and the asparagus stems were tough. The ambiance was very nice. We've been coming to epic for years and are satisfied every time. The service is always excellent. They are attentive and always on top of our needs. We had a reservation and were seated within minutes. The restaurant itself is in a great location as well. The food is always fantastic. I never veer from a steak because it's delicious every time. They have many choices for sides that are all generous portions. My favorite was the corn risotto. It was so yummy I could eat the whole thing! Their desserts were amazing!! 10/10 experience. Unfortunately, I am hard to please when it comes to dining out because nearly 100% of the time I can do it better and for much less. Epic was a really pleasant surprise. I'm from Long Island, where everything is egregiously priced. At home, pretty much all steakhouses sell you your meat, and then everything else you must buy separately. Epic was very reasonably priced- the cranberry bread, the French onion soup, and a petit filet that comes with a side (I got the loaded baked potato), all for much less than I would pay at home. All of the food was absolutely delicious. All of the food came out very quickly, all three of us got our meals at the same time, and it was all hot. When they bring the steaks to the table, they ask you to cut into it to make sure it is cooked to your liking. Why every single steakhouse in the world doesn't do this, is beyond me. All three of our steaks were cooked perfectly. And I've got to imagine that asking us to cut into it keeps the average customer happier versus the waiter leaving, cutting into your steak, and finding it's not cooked to your liking. Ingenious. Our waitress, Jo, was absolutely wonderful. She was attentive without being cloying, remembered everything we asked for, and was just overall really lovely to be served by. When she found out it was my birthday, she brought over a cute card that said happy birthday and was signed by all of the staff. Lastly, the ambiance was on par with other nice steakhouses I've been to. I didn't take off a star for this (the only negative we encountered), but the noise in the restaurant is pretty bad. My father and I are hard of hearing, so it was difficult to maintain a conversation. The next time I'm in NC, I will definitely return. All in all a great experience. read more

A disappointing experience from a restaurant I once loved Two years ago, I had a serious case of food poisoning after dining at this restaurant. It took me two full years to feel comfortable enough to return, but I chose this restaurant again because I wanted a special place to celebrate our daughter's 18th birthday. I wanted to create a memorable evening for our family and friends. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of what we expected. One of our guests has Celiac disease, and when she asked questions about the gluten-free options, we were told that the menu was actually incorrect regarding which items were truly gluten-free. This is not a minor detail. For someone with Celiac disease, accurate menu information is a matter of health and safety. Then, during what should have been a celebration, my daughter was served the shrimp appetizer. She took one bite, immediately spit it out, and discovered a gray, squishy substance in the food. The moment completely changed the evening. She was so upset and uncomfortable that she refused to eat anything else. When you are spending over $500 on a meal, you expect more than just good food. You expect attention to detail, quality, safety, and a level of care that matches the price and reputation of the restaurant. Walking out feeling disappointed on so many levels was heartbreaking, especially because we had hoped this would be a special memory for our daughter's milestone birthday. To the ownership team: I hope you take this review seriously. Guests choose restaurants like yours because they trust you with important moments in their lives. A birthday celebration should never end with a guest questioning the safety of their meal or leaving feeling that their experience did not matter. I truly used to love this restaurant, which is why returning after two years felt like a big decision. Sadly, after this experience, I cannot see myself returning again. We had dinner reservations for a Saturday night to celebrate mine and my oldest son's birthday, while he was in town for the weekend. I had made reservations a month in advance and was really looking forward to this visit. It was our first time here. When we arrived on time for our table, we were brought upstairs to a very small, 4 person square table, and the hostess was dragging over a chair. We were a party of 5. This table was way too small, so we had to wait for them to figure out where our table was, and why we didn't have the said table ready. This is an enormous restaurant with loads of larger tables, some with just couples, and many with teens in prom attire. Needless to say, we spotted a round table with 6 seats, was told it was for someone else (excuse me?), but was gladly seated there with no questions. This would be 5 star, but I took a star for the lack of table. I am still wondering, where was my reservation for a table for 5 people?? I really don't know. We had some great drinks. Birthday boy had a Nail in the Coffin, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I would skip the bread basket here. I think $9 for bread is over the top. It should just be given to customers without charge. A few of us tried the French onion soup, and the lobster bisque. Very tasty! Dinner was an assortment of many tastes. Keep in mind, sides and even butter is extra, so just a reminder when ordering. We tried the petite filet mignon, prime aged sirloin, boneless short rib, Epic burger, with sides of truffle fries, broccoli and cheese, crispy Brussels sprouts, and creamed spinach. Large portions and very good. Birthday boy wanted a S'mores Martini and we ordered 2 slices of cake. The Epic cake and the cheesecake with caramel and praline. Massive size does not even begin to describe it. We all shared the birthday cakes, and even took them to go, it was so much. I was in Mooresville for business traveling alone and wanted to grab an early dinner before heading to my hotel. The bar at Epic opens at 4 with the appetizer menu only until 5 pm. First of all, walking into Epic felt like walking into a 1940s or 1950s elegant restaurant and bar. It's lovely with lots of wood and character. I found a seat in the bar and started with a Blueberry Lemondrop Martini. It was fantastic. Not too sweet, and the hint of blueberry was just right. I ordered a Caesar salad and the bacon wrapped scallops. Both were absolutely to die for. The scallops were perfectly cooked and were served in clam shells with creamed spinach. The salad was a generous portion. Service was good. Had an incredible meal. Very filling for an appetizer and salad. Loves the menu and can't wait to return. read more

Return visit (after an unfortunate meal last March ... with a prompt, concerned, and professional follow up from the restaurant). Everything was OUTSTANDING. Phenomenal server and service. Wonderful menu (which was always the case). Food delicious, prompt, and well prepared. Lovely wine list with excellent recommendation from the server. Five stars across the board. Only thing a diner might want to know that is modestly different from my experience of a "typical" steakhouse is that bread wasn't served after we ordered. There was only one "artisan bread" on the menu that was cranberry...so we skipped it. This visit really, really lived up to our expectations and the other reviews we've read. Epic is our favorite restaurant. It's service is unmatched; it's food is excellent, including steaks; and it's ambience is great too. We usually sit in the bar, which is fun. I would highly recommend this restaurant because you can't find anything on its menu that you won't enjoy. And the drinks its bartenders make are spot on. I am writing to share feedback regarding a recent dining experience at your Mooresville location. While there,we were disappointed with the overall quality relative to the $168 total price of our meal. [1] I ordered the salmon special ($58) with green beans and shrimp, which was sadly bland; the sauce on it lacked flavor, and the green beans were fine.. It did not come with rice or potatoes. I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes ($9), which arrived at the table not warm almost cool. My companion's experience was similar; while he enjoyed his steak, his baked potato was not hot, and his side of asparagus ($9) was limp and cool to the touch. Additionally, his wedge salad was surprisingly small for its $12 price point. We also enjoyed our sangria, which was fine, but it did not make up for the inconsistencies with the main food items. Given the premium pricing, we expected a higher level of execution and better temperature control for our dishes. This is a very expensive restaurant and the food is not worth the price. My last meal was a fish dish and it was covered up with so much butter. First time back since my last review. Food was still amazing. This time, however, I had a couple issues. First of all, the waiter didn't do a great job setting expectations on the food. A loaded baked potato, for instance, should come with sour cream. Mine didn't. When I saw the horseradish cream, I mistook it for sour cream and put it on my potato which elicited a comment from the waiter. Secondly the steak orders got mixed up on terms of doneness. I ordered rare and my daughter ordered medium rare. However they came out to us reversed. My daughter and I were ok with how these were cooked and we didn't say anything about it. We had table service by a waitress in addition to the waiter. She was the one who brought out our wine, but it seemed she did more than this task. IMO she filled in for the waiter and did much of his responsibilities. I thought she did an excellent job and wish I could have designated our tip solely for her. Nevertheless I left a generous tip. Maybe we just caught them on an off night. However for the price you pay to dine here, a bit more is expected. read more

I came here for a Valentine's date with my significant other. We had a reservation set at nighttime. We got there on time and they didn't have seat already prepared for us, which surprised us. We got seated shortly and were quickly provided a menu and lemon water. The ambiance was dark, formal, and romantic, which was perfect for a lovely dinner location. We ordered an appetizer, the bacon wrapped scallops rockefeller, which was very, very delicious. The scallops were tender and perfectly cooked. They were covered by a cream that was delicious. The price was expensive for two scallops but my partner and I loved them and would definitely ordered them again. For the entree, I ordered the seared blood orange jumbo diver scallops. The food was served on hot plates. My scallop entree was delicious and were perfectly cooked. The entree included zucchini noodles and blood orange cream. The noodles were thin and flavorful from the cream. They had a piece of dried blood orange on the top of the noodles for garnish. On the side, they provided a nice portion of mashed potatoes, which was soft and delicious. Overall, this experience was a 10/10. I would recommend coming here for a dinner date. Another outstanding dinner at Epic. Our server, Q, was knowledgeable, polite and attentive. He remembered everything and was very professional. Came with family to celebrate a birthday. I usually get ribeye when we come here but this time, I opted for the BLT salad because thick cut bacon, arugula and vinaigrette is one tasty combination. And again, BACON! It's what I was feeling and I went with it. I did try this seasonal pumpkin beer in tap and whole it didn't really have a pumpkin flavor, it was very good. The rest of the family had ribs, steak kabobs, and ribeye steaks. We all enjoyed our meals and there were no complaints. No pics because we were too busy eating and enjoying ourselves, plus there are probably 100s of pics out there of everything in their menu. It was tough could not even cut it with the steak knife, absolutely no flavor not even the basic salt and pepper! Keena ordered chicken pasta and the sauce looked liked mash potatoes!
