Veggie Sammy and kids grilled cheese

Located on the 4th floor of the Museum of Science in downtown Raleigh sits this cafeteria style shop. Surprisingly the prices are quite reasonable and the child's meal includes a sandwich with yogurt, a side and a little souvenir. My granddaughter loved her little turtle. I ordered a grilled veggie sandwich with pesto and it was very satisfying. You order at the counter and pick up when they call your number. Easy peasy.

I had the Brie and bacon grilled cheese. It was a convenient meal while I was working at the museum. I thought the food is great, especially for a museum cafe. I would definitely recommend this place, and I'd get it again if I'm ever visiting the museum.

Packed tables at the Acro Cafe. Please be kind and bus your own table.

Reports of the death of Acro Cafe are greatly exaggerated. This place is NOT closed, as previously reported by others. It may have been a temporary event. I noticed their Sanitation Grade was prominently displayed, dated 12-18-18, with a near perfect 99.5 rating. This yummy hidden gem is the cafe inside the Museum of Natural Sciences on the live butterfly exhibit level. Not only is it very much open, it is very much good, and very much affordable. There's a variety of freshly made wraps, salads, sandwiches, smoothies and huge cookies. Each wrap and sandwich comes with your choice of chips or fresh fruit. Nothing on the menu is over 8.50. I tried the chicken salad melt, it comes with Brie! Cheese (can you believe that?) On a grilled multi-grain bread. It has pecans and craisins and celery and just a little too much mayo but boy was it tasty. My son got the pulled pork sandwich piled high with meat on a grilled bun with fresh made coleslaw. If I worked downtown, this would be my lunch stop.

Good coffee, service was as expected, and it's right next to the butterfly/sloth exhibit which makes for nice ambiance.

Seriously, if you can't find a pour you like here, you may just need water instead. Started with the biscuits topped with crackling and house-made preserves, and honestly, that combo alone made me question why I don't eat more biscuits in life. Sweet, salty, buttery chaos in the best way. For the main, I went with the pork chop and greens. The chop leaned a little overcooked for me personally, but the sauce helped bring things back together and added good flavor. The greens had a nice little kick of heat, but I kept waiting for that deep smoky ham hock flavor to show up like an old Southern grandma entering the kitchen... and it never quite arrived. Overall though? Still a solid meal, strong whiskey program, cool atmosphere, and definitely worth checking out if you're in Raleigh looking for a bourbon-forward dinner spot. Travelin_Broke approved with a slight side-eye from the greens.

I originally thought it was the sauce which the waitress voluntarily remade but no the current chef is apparently fallen into the current dining trope of spicy is better to the point. I gave my burger to someone else at the table to eat. That said everyone else enjoyed their meals and as always, no complaints on the drinks but... I won't be the one selecting/suggesting it when we're going out to each going forward.

The sauce was amazing and the perfect balance of vinegar and taste. The brisket has the option of fatty, mixed, or no fat. The mix had a lot of fat, I wouldn't order it again. The service was great too, I think our food was ready in less than 5 mins. The food came out before the water lol

Our waitress was kind and went over the menu with us. Our orders: side of fries Well-fed (4 proteins and 2 sides) 2 of us shared Burnt ends plate with 2 sides We know that NC barbecue is NOT SC barbecue but anywho, the portion size was not what we expected for the Well-Fed nor did it match previous photos we'd seen. Our food was cold but tasty except for the macaroni and cheese, my daughters hated it. We politely let our waitress know and she took our plate back and the kitchen in turn, provided us with a whole new plate of food. We were ready to dig in but this time, the barbecue lacked flavor and my daughters were so disappointed and were ready to leave. I definitely appreciated the kitchen for trying to make it right but I don't think we'll be returning on our next trip to Raleigh.

On Wednesday's they were doing all gluten-free menu and it was amazing...no crazy unreasonable upcharges, just honest menu pricing and great food. As of this review they are the #2 most reviewed place in Raleigh only behind the Pit. When we went last week for a farewell dinner it took us 3 weeks to get in. We got turned away 2 other times. The place was always packed and busy yet cozy and calm with great service. Hopefully they relocate or put some of the items from the menu at Pooles. Fuquay could use a nice place like this and it would be way cheaper than Raleigh! Best of luck to the staff in the future as they all look for work.

I understand as if you aren't seated when they open, you can expect a 90-minute to two-hour wait. I was hoping to get the Chicken Pot Pie this time and thought my prior visit was just off. I was thrilled that most of the menu was available. They were just out of the banana pudding. So I got to try the pecan wings I read about with the white sauce. It was so good. Then I got the chicken pot pie and biscuits. The pot pie had old biscuits for the topping, but the creamy mixture with large chunks of chicken was delicious. My biscuits came with honey and were served warm. I left with a slice of the chocolate-caramel-coconut cake, a side salad without onions, and a fried boneless thigh. The salad was made correctly, and the dressing was included. The salad was full of veggies, and the cake was rich and moist. Service was friendly and as soon as I finished my iced tea, another appeared. My wings were brought out first and it was a while for the rest of the meal as the restaurant was full. But they didn't rush me at all. I actually liked the space between the dishes, as I might not have been able to eat it all otherwise. I couldn't finish both biscuits and was even provided a container for the honey. I am going to miss Beasley's, but I'm glad I got a positive experience to remember the restaurant.

The NY Strip arrived more than well done, so we told the waitress and she apologized and sent it back to the kitchen. As I was eating the meatloaf, I noticed an off taste and texture. I looked closer and realized it was still pink/slimy/raw! How can meatloaf be raw? It's supposed to be fully cooked first and then grilled. Whoever sliced it from the "loaf" should have noticed it was not cooked before throwing it on the grill! We notified the manager when he came to apologize for the NY strip, so he took the meatloaf back to the kitchen. When the NY Strip came back out, my husband cut into it and it was shiny and purple inside, from top to bottom...absolutely rare. The waitress agreed it was rare and took it back to the kitchen again. When it came out for the third time, it was perfect (third time's a charm, I guess?). The only saving grace was the kind waitress who felt awful about the sub par food. The kitchen put her in an uncomfortable position, but she handled it with grace. We ordered the chocolate torte for dessert and it was very good, but that's the only thing I'd return for.
