    Capacitor that was replaced by ACS for $1200

    This AC service company cannot be trusted. Our air conditioner was working but was making a noise, we called ACS and scheduled a tech to come out and do a summer inspection. The tech found a failed capacitor in condensor. ACS charged $1200 to replace the capacitor in 3.5 ton Trane condensing unit. This charge was all put on a 95 year old senior citizen The tech and service department refused to show pricing on the Capacitor part or labor (2 hrs). Our research showed the exact capacitor part cost less than $50. We brought in another AC service company that we trusted and they confirmed we were ripped off. The repair for labor and part should have been less than $300. This company 20 years ago used to be owned by Steve Rogers and was honest. Not anymore! I would caution anyone against using this air conditioning service company. Not trustworthy, deceptive practices and not fair pricing. They target elderly people who are looking for honest help. They cannot be trusted.

I made a quick run to Ace to see if they had any replacement clips while he checked his truck for any spares. When I came back empty handed I found him using the one good clip I had from the second shower as a template to make a new clip out of wire from his truck. Instead of being stuck w/o water all day while driving across town to plumbing store to find the part, this guy had me up and running in 30 extra minutes.

My water softener from years ago needed replacement and I wanted to have installed a RO system, based on my water quality from EWG (a resource Bill said I should check out) Bill advised me on what softener to get and what type of RO to get. The RO is tankless and replaces minerals. Very important. Bill responded promptly to my reaching out and my two items were installed the same day. Very reasonable pricing. A smart and conscientious worker. Wouldn't call anyone else!

So, not only with Bills Plumbing, but I will also be yelping about many of the other companies I have found on YELP. These companies show 5 stars but do not seem to offer the service or return calls. After living in Tucson for 2.5 Yrs now, I am sick and tired of being treated like this by these so called "Professional" contractors and vendors. So, I felt I had to warn potential clients of what I am finding not only with Bills Plumbing, but other unprofessional contractors and Vendors that do not want to work or care about it. I have interviewed over 10 plumbing companies with no reply, just promises, then I never hear from them. Same with Cabinet companies, drywallers, stucco companies etc. It is just mind boggling and I hear it is an issue here in Tucson. When I reached out to Bills via phone calls, and followed up with additional phone calls, never did I received a response. Also, what is is with the contractors and vendors the do not have an outgoing message to see if you are reaching the write company or not. VERY unprofessional. I want to know who I am calling. God forbid that they answer the phone with their business name. Just hello! I always ask, is this so and so company? I have a three-time rule now, you ignore me then I am moving on as it is obvious you do not need business or a job. At least let a potential client know upfront, you are either too busy or not interested then provide excuses and lies you cannot meet up too. When I had my showroom in CA, customer service was performed to all our clients, hence why were slammed due to our response. Never EVER leave a client or potential client hanging. It is rude, disrespectful, and extremely unprofessional. I told my employees ALWAYS return a call and never lie to the clients. It is harder to remember lies than the truth. Sadly, this new generation does not understand this concept or of customer service skills or professionalism. Hell, they do not even know how to sign their name in cursive. Very sad.

    The good: Same day service (a Sunday ), Pleasant technician…read moreand rapid diagnosis and repair. The bad: repair was replacement of the 45 microfarad run capacitor. (Retail cost max. approx. $45) Normally a less than 30 minute job. Cost $521.28 and that's after my 4% Veteran's discount. Maybe that's a reasonable price I don't know. Tech Corbin replaced the fan motor thinking that was the problem. He said that if that part didn't work they would not charge me for it. The unit started working, cool air blowing for about 30 min, and stopped again. Corbin left and we called him back, he then said it had to be the compressor at the termination point. So we would need a whole new unit which was going to cost us $21,000. I told his supervisor Tim Powers that I could not commit to amount at this point that I needed to verify with the Home owner. The next day I had another company come out, come to find out they never even checked the compressor, it was full of black widows, spiderwebs, and eggs. They said there was no way that they could've checked that with all of that stuff in there. When they looked at the wiring, they said that the wiring was not done correctly with the new motor that they placed on the fan. When I spoke to the field supervisor, Tim Powers he was very unprofessional saying he wasn't going to give us any credit and good luck. When I spoke to him on the phone he was talking to me like a little girl calling me baby and and saying good luck. He was disrespectful, degrading and not trying to come to a resolution what so ever. I have never been disrespect, like this by what you would think would be a professional in my life! I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, letting everyone know they should stay clear from this company. BE AWARE!!! THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THROUGH ON THIER PROMISE, LIE ABOUT THE DIAGNOSIS, INSTALL THINGS INCORRECTLY,OVER CHARGE & DO NOT CARE TO COME TO RESOLUTIONS!
