We were desperate to fix our daughter's home in Tucson A/C quickly as the temperatures soared this August. Being the busy season, some firms were not even accepting calls. A firm that did give us an appt proposed replacing the entire HVAC unit for a cost of $15k to $20k. Needing a second estimate, we called Platinum Air Heating & Cooling, and are so, so happy that we did. The tech on the other line seemed confused as to why I was calling and asked if I "tried the office"...I said I did and "I got you"...his response: "I am the 24 on duty tech"...I must say, kudos to them for getting such a high yelp review! It is obvious I was "taken for a ride" by their website and they are not as big as I thought--their quality is probably going to suffer over the summer...In the end, highly recommend going someplace more established. I called at 9am on a Friday... in AUGUST... and Platinum Air immediately answered and had an opening at 1-3pm that SAME DAY! I was pleasantly surprised. I called them to service an AC unit that was blowing but not producing cold air. My technician, Andrew, called to let me know he was running early, again a pleasant surprise! He had my AC unit up and running in less than an hour. He explained exactly what had happened, a bad breaker apparently, and fixed it in a jiffy. Rates were very reasonable: $99 charge for breakdown service plus a very reasonable cost for a breaker repair. I will DEFINITELY call Platinum again if my AC goes out. read more

I have an elderly parent who lives by herself in her home. I learned that the temperature in the house was 62F while the thermostat was set for 80F which meant something was wrong with either the furnace or the thermostat. I called Platinum and spoke with Al who immediately deployed a service tech to her home. They arrived within 2 hrs and quickly determined the cause of the problem. He sent over pictures of the area he worked in including the faulty capacitor which was replaced. I'm very grateful for their quick service, diagnosis and ultimately repair. I contacted the company to get a proposal to replace my roof-top HVAC. The gentleman who came to discuss that prospect was courteous, personable and professional. I had had another proposal and knew the equipment I want (1 of 2 possibilities) and so requested quotes on both. Both quotes were significantly lower than those from the other vendor, so I accepted one. One of the reasons I sought a second proposal was that the first company had lots of reviews averaging in the 2.0-2.5 range - I don't remember exactly - primarily due to complaints about pricing and follow up service. I looked for companies with much better average reviews and found this one, which has excellent reviews virtually across the board. Installation was scheduled within a couple of weeks. The installation crew came beforehand as agreed to do some final measuring, and showed up on the agreed-upon installation date when expected. They completed the job within the time they had estimated it would take, made sure I understood how to work the thermostat, showed pictures of the installation, and cleaned up after themselves properly. I am delighted to be working with these folks and recommend them highly to anyone considering a comparable project. read more

Maxwell (Max) did an outstanding job on my tune-up plus add on service to clean the outdoor coils. I think what stands out is he is classroom trained on cooling and very friendly. He was OK with me hanging out and learning about my HVAC. Honestly, it was a lot of fun. Professional van, work clothes, business card, invoice. Platinum is killing it (do people say that anymore). I am very pleased with myself for finding them because I called 4-6 other companies looking for "maintenance" vs the $29 check and then "I found something" that will surprise, surprise cost you hundreds. Platinum was the only one who legitimately charged you a fee for service. Thank you. PS You will also love Alfonso (Al), he is fun and casual to talk with and is actually a scheduler who has worked on HVAC's. So impressed with his service and the company, so called for another service due to a noise coming from the motor, and Manny was my serviceman today. Show up on time. Spent a few minutes at AC unit. Showed me a greased up part in his greased up fingers. Said that's was the problem sticking? Told me no coolant left and put 2 pounds in at $90/#. Told me my AC unit was trashed and they would send me a quote for a new unit replacement. The quote was close to $7500 with the $280 service call they credited me. My second "free" quote was $600! Yes $600. There was a bad part that was replaced and 10 pounds of coolant replaced for $180. I was charged $18 a pound instead of $90 a pound. Times are hard. Think honestly is a factor and I certainly think your company lacks that! read more

Very professional and kind guys that got sent out to our home. 1st time spent $700 - needed 4 pounds @ $90 per and extra charge for some other stuff added inside for either showing leaks or sealing small ones, I can't remember, but it was something of the sorts. AC stopped working maybe 2 or 3 weeks later. They came back out and found that it was actually something else than what they had first figured. $2650 for all we needed. They ended up being very gracious and forgave a portion of that amount. Great customer service, professional men that showed up and do all they can to be fair. Very big thank you. Platinum replaced our entire HVAC and water heater on a very hot day in late June two years ago. Compared to the other bids we received, Platinum gave us 1/2 ton more A/C and all higher-end components than the other bids, and at about the same price. Wow, are we glad we chose Platinum! The installation, starting with a new steel deck and then everything on top of it, was absolutely first-rate. Their work was of far higher quality than we received from several other companies repairing our old units over 20 years. Our furnace was firing on but not providing much heat. Platinum sent Manuel out and he went on the roof and reported that the sealing tape put in during installation (as far as we know, we did not own the place then) had worn away and needed to be replaced. He resealed the ductwork and attachment area and now the furnace is working great. He also gave us a quick overview of how the furnace was holding up 13 years after installation. I asked him about general costs for replacing the combined unit (AC and furnace) since last spring the AC needed old-style Freon added and that is no longer being manufactured. So, if the AC needs to be topped off with expensive Freon again, it would make more sense to get a new AC/furnace unit that uses a different type of Freon. If we do have to eventually replace our heating/cooling unit, we will definitely be giving Platinum a call. read more

My review is based on the fact that I couldn't receive a call back in regards to my bid. I had a Saturday appointment and the guy never showed between the time frames I was told a week prior. I finally called and the guy that took my call said the technicians truck broke down and someone was suppose to call me, never happened. We re-scheduled for the following Monday and the guy showed, took measurements, used my bathroom but never called back with the bid after multiple attempts and the owner saying it was emailed to me. If you don't want the work just say you're too busy but don't NOT return calls. But no worries we had another company come give us a bid on the spot and we accepted. read more

I had a new A/C, Furnace, and Water Heater installed by Platinum last summer. Now that 6 months has gone by, following the first cold-weather checkup, it's time to write a review. So far, I am very impressed. I want to say how fortunate I feel that my wife and I chose Platinum. Before committing to this *major* purchase, we started by making a detailed comparison of several contractors with online reviews, bids, and interviews. I didn't want the lowest bidder but, rather, I wanted the best job I could afford with a price that was fair. And that is exactly what I got. Platinum did an absolutely first class installation, with every little detail of fitting and sealing done to perfection. I watched probably half the 9-hour installation occurring in my garage on that terribly hot June day (kudos to them for putting up with me!). I'm not an expert, but I do know good work when I see it. My Uncle Steve, back east, was an industrial heating and cooling contractor. As a teenager and young adult, I remember seeing the work his technicians did with their great attention to every little detail. His company carried his name. He said every contractor could buy the same stuff, but everything else about a job was on *his* reputation. He ran his business by a few simple rules: "over deliver" quality and workmanship on a fixed bid, hold customers in highest regard, and take good care of employees. I used Yelp to get a aeries of quotes about a loud AC unit in my rental property. Al responded with a quote detailing the ho. Service call fee, a little about the company (family run and vet owned) and gave me three slots he would be able to come out (very convenient - everyone else said to call for scheduling). I selected a time that day and called Al - he was very happy to schedule me the same day I called. When his crew came out they were very professional and explained everything in detail. Told me what needed to be fixed and didn't try to sell me a new unit. I pre-paid the invoice wince they needed to get some parts and come back. A bit risky, but I wasn't disappointed - they can back that evening and completed the work and the unit is humming along happily. The rate and repairs were reasonable and the service was great. This heating inspection recently conducted by Platinum Air was hands-down the best experience we've encountered with all previous HVAC providers. Armando (owner) and technician Brandon came on time with a general service call to our home. We explained that our older home was not the mot efficient and as a result, our heating and especially the air conditioning bills were high and if they could do something about this while they were there. They expertly serviced the system and then took the extra step of reprogramming the ventilation to the tune of 25% more capacity. We noticed the effects of the heat immediately.
