We have had ACS for over 3 years now and I find it impossible to cancel service. My friend uses ADT and is very happy with it so we were going to switch but accounting department never answers the phone or return voice messages. I met with a few companies. ACS seemed to be the obvious choice. They gave me a free alarm system and they don't hold me to a long term deal if I decide to move. Plus, they are right here in LA. ACS is an excellent firm with a high level of professionalism exhibited by their officers and by their repair personnel. The armed officers who respond to an alarm are dedicated and they take their jobs very seriously. If one has a problem with their alarm the ACS repair people are outstanding. Kurt is incredibly knowledgeable, polite and efficient. Request him if you have the opportunity to do so. George, who is in the office, is outstanding and extremely helpful. He is willing to go the extra mile to please his customers. We are pleased with ACS. Our family has also dealt with other people at the firm with great success over the past few years. Just had new system installed and within a month there was an issue that needed to be fixed. The ACS team had it fixed within a day and Raymond in the call center was great as he helped me diagnose it and get a temporary fix until the tech came to fix it. Raymond was super patient and let me vent my frustrations; and then worked with me to figure out a solution. George in the main office also took the time to discuss with me and clearly showed that they care about their customers and want to make things. Obviously you want things to be perfect, but that's rare. Given the circumstances the support was really good and I am appreciate for everyone who was patient and helpful; especially Raymond and then George. read more

I like having ACS patrolling Castle Heights. It is an extra pair of eyes when we aren't home, it is someone we can call when we need a patrol to look into something suspicious, and it happens faster than LAPD could do. Their vacation monitoring also comes in handy. read more

I have been an ACS customer for 13 years at my old house which was near the east gate (and their office in Bel Air) and currently in Brentwood. This is a privately owned company and in the 13 years of being a customer have only found their service to be top-notch. They call, they show up and are visible on my street. The manager George and the service rep AJ were both incredibly helpful and knowledgable with a small issue I have been having. I have been with ACS for the past 3 years. They have the worst accounting department I have ever seen. I called them about 4 months ago for a very simple question and had to leave 2 messages with no call back. About a month ago I called for a credit card transaction and had to leave 3 messages in a week with no call back. When I ask for a supervisor ( after one week ) the lady at the accounting department picked up the phone and told me " I was about to call you " and I gave her the benefit of the doubt. About 10 days ago I had a question about a charge on my credit card. Again left 3 messages for the accounting lady and had the same scenario. I asked for the president of company this time( my sales person told me the owner is a very hands on person in the company's activities and that was the reason I signed up with them) and never heard back from anyone. I finally got a hold of someone and told her I am closing my account because of your accounting. She was not apologetic at all and told me she can give me instructions on how to cancel my account!!!! I am a small business owner with about 100 employees and don't ever let any of my employees treat a customer like this. They lost me as a customer. read more

Wish there was a zero stars option. While most of the negative reviews refer to the sales process let me assure you that would be the least of your worries. After paying faithfully for the service for over 6 years, I recently had a break in. The robbers were allowed to remain in my premises long enough to go through every drawer in every office. The loss was substantial. I am being told that an "officer" of the company was dispatched but could not get into the front gate and therefore there was nothing else to do. The company was provided the front and back gate key at the time of signing up. While ACS acknowledges that the contract does have the key on there, "it was so long ago that how are they supposed to know about it now". He (a manager) is not even sure anyone at the office would know where the key is or IF it's even still there. According to this manager this is acceptable because it's been so long that personal has changed. It was also acknowledged by ACS that the "officer" did not check the back of the premises because, "how was he supposed to know to do that?" Personally I would have thought because that's what you do when a client's alarm is going off. They have done everything from making excuses to why they are not at fault to blatantly blaming me for supposedly not setting my motion alarms. Not sure why the motion detector is even an issue when the alarm was going off due to a window breech. The motion sensors were in case someone came in through a way that was not monitored by sensors. ie: where the air conditioning unit is. I could go on for hours, as I have been on several calls with them since yesterday but I will keep it to a couple other absolutely absurd comments, then you can judge for yourself if you want to trust your belongings or loved ones to these people: The "officer" who came out when I reported that I had been broken into and was upset that the person/persons had been allowed to occupy my premises for so long told me they had tried several numbers at 5am and had not received a call back. A mantra that has been repeated many times. Not sure why they think this is a save when no call back should mean everything is definitely not OK. He took pictures and said he was going to report back to his company that I was vandalized. I said, "Vandalized !!!!, I have been robbed !!!", to which he responded that I should contact LAPD then. - WOW could have done that without having paid for their service all these years. The manager that I have been dealing with, upon it being pointed out to him that the lights in the office were on and that could have been seen even from behind the locked gate, responded that maybe they saw the "officer" walking up to the gate and turned the lights off until he was gone. P.S. I have put officer in quotations as that is what they continue to be referred to by the company but I would only use that term for a competent person. read more

I have always found the people who patrol our neighborhood to be very congenial and friendly. However, I feel that when I call the dispatch to notify them of suspicious activity I get the feeling they are reluctant to notify the patrol as to my concerns, especially if the suspicious activity may not be an actual threat. I think they should be more proactive in notifying our neighborhood patrol about the suspicious activity, even if it doesn't appear on the surface to be an immediate threat. read more

This company does not appear to be on the up and up. They tend to give you one price and then try to switch it later for another higher price as one of the other reviewers pointed out. I have seen how their rent-a-cop patrolmen drive through some of the areas they patrol. They are reckless and tend to break the law by speeding. They are not policemen and have to obey the traffic laws like everyone else. They imply that this is necessary if they have to get to a customer who needs them in a hurry. This is total BS. Actually saw them speeding through a neighborhood one time at a very high rate of speed only to find out they were on their way to one of their 'union breaks' at the local mini-mart. A friend told me he moved into a neighborhood where ACS has a dedicated patrol for the homeowner's association. He had developed a relationship over the years with a local alarm company that he trusted and wished to have them service and monitor the alarm in his new home. He told me that ACS tried every strong-armed tactic to muscle his alarm business but he told them NO, he was very happy with his present company. The salesman then 'implied' that the local patrolman may conveniently 'forget' to respond to his house unless he used their monitoring service and that their patrolmen may not even come on his property if he doesn't use their service. He told me he was extremely pissed at this old-school 'protection money' tactic practiced by local gangsters where he grew up back in the day in Chicago. He also told me he was mad because he was already paying for the ACS patrol service through his HOA dues. He was so mad and made a stink about this point and ironically what the salesman told him never happened. He was just plan unhappy with the fact that ACS was already making a lot of money on the HOA contract but still was not happy and wanted to monopolies the entire community by also trying to dictate that they can only use their alarm services and no one else's. (sounds like an unfair competition class-action or anti-trust suite waiting to happen!) I would honestly look elsewhere if you are in the market for a security company that you can really feel comfortable and secure with. read more

All started well when I signed up for ACS patrol and monitoring, then once they have your money it goes downhill. I signed up with ACS because they had a dedicated patrol car for Tarzana. I was also told that they were close to having a second dedicated patrol car for Tarzana. A few months after I signed up, I stopped seeing patrol cars in our area. I heard through our neighborhood watch group that ACS stopped having a dedicated car for our area and they failed to notify us. So I called to cancel. I was sent to a voicemail. Then someone in our neighborhood group posted an email address for a someone at ACS who could cancel the account. Now, two months later, with repeated emails, repeated voicemails, I am unable to cancel my account. Through our neighborhood watch group, I know that several people are having the same issue. I am now sending a certified letter to ACS canceling my account. If (when) they charge my card, I will dispute the charges with my credit card. This is an absolutely unacceptable way of doing business. read more

So, my alarm has gone off (accidentally) twice in the past few weeks and neither time did ACS call to check in. After the first alarm, I called and asked why they didn't call me - they said "well, it wasn't going off for :45 seconds" - What? Many previous times, they always called, if even sounding for :05 seconds. It shouldn't matter the time, they should always call. Why now the change? Also - they drive SO FAST down the streets, there is no way they could see/prevent crime. Also, they rarely patrol at all. Previous years, you would frequently see them. Not anymore. We have been customers of ACS for over three years and recently had an issue with the back-up batteries for our alarm system. After I tried but failed to solve the problem myself, ACS sent out a technician named Damian who quickly resolved the problem and who was extremely pleasant as well. Terrible!! Sales guy comes to my house and badgers me into buying a Armed Patrol in my area. I informed him that I was thinking of going with ADT Patrol. He tells me that ADT doesn't patrol my area and that ACS has taken over all of ADT patrols. I informed him that I spoke to a ADT Rep no more than 2 hours earlier and that I see ADT patrol vehicles constantly in my area. He then told me that I was mistaken and that it was probably ACS vehicles. I told him, "your vehicles are yellow and ADT vehicles are white". So I told him that he was lying and that he needed to get off my property. ACS are a bunch of liars and are only interested in selling you something they won't honor, stay clear of ACS. By the way, I went with ADT and haven't looked back. Go with a proven name, not a fly by night company like ACS. read more

My alarm went off one evening last summer. I received no indication of this until I arrived home and found a back door opened. Apparently ACS had called my home number when the alarm was activated and when they did not receive an answer they dispatched a patrol officer who, by visually inspecting the front of the house, determined all was OK. THEY NEVER CHECKED AROUND THE HOUSE OR CALLED MY CELL PHONE TO LET ME KNOW. When I spoke to a supervisor there, I was told that it wasn't their policy to go down the call list unless specifically asked to do so. This was contrary to what we were told when we signed up. There seems to be some confusion about this policy so if you have an expectation of being notified if your alarm goes off and you're not home- you should call ACS and let them know. Even more disturbing were all the excuses given to me by ACS as to why I wasn't informed and there was only a visual inspection from the street done. I was told by the dispatcher that he couldn't see what zone it was, though I was later told by a supervisor that she could clearly see what zone it was, laundry/spa door, that was opened. She suggested however that maybe if the zone was labeled back door it would have been better (though I don't understand exactly why). I was also informed by the supervisor that the patrol officer did not inspect the backyard because my front gate was locked (it was not), then I was told it wasn't the front gate that was locked but rather a side gate (I don't have a lock on my side gate). Because of all the confusion, and my growing discomfort with ACS as a security company, I was told that the owner/president would look into it and get back to me. After months of hearing nothing from him, I received a standard letter of apology for the trouble I experienced. Needless to say, I cancelled my service shortly after this incident. Not so much because of a mistake had been made, but rather all the excuses and discrepancies that were given when I questioned it and the lack of any real follow up. Now, almost a year later, I am still being billed for monitoring and service. read more

I have been a customer of ACS since 2007, when I changed from ADT. I started with what is now ADT in 1983, when I became a Westec customer. I stayed with them throughout their transitions to Edison, Bel Air Patrol and then, finally to ADT. Westec was terrific, and it was downhill fast from there. The last straw (twofold) was when ADT called me at 3:00am and woke me to let me know that my business' alarm batteries were low; the next week the alarm went off and they took 2 hours to send someone, as I waited in front at 9:00pm. Oh yeah, they dispatch out of the mid-west. Fast forward to 2007, when I switched three of my family's houses and our two businesses to ACS. I have been more than pleased. They remind me of the original Westec back in the 80's. My sales rep at ACS was even an ex-Westec/Edison Employee. We live in Brentwood, CA and their response is typically less than 7 minutes. They even came by once to let me know my garage door was open. When I was out of town, they sent someone to walk my wife to the door (no charge). I love this company. Thank you, ADT for being such a crummy company and causing me to try ACS!!!! read more

We started out great. Our HOA switched over to them so I thought I'd switch to them too. Met with the reps. Got the paperwork filled out. They even set up an appt with the install guy BEFORE his appt to make sure he had everything he needed for the install appt in a few days. Instead a different guy shows up to install it. He got frustrated and walked off in the middle of it and never returned. ACS never called me to follow up. It wasn't until I got a bill in the mail that they finally called me back. They were apologetic. Please let us make it up to you. blah blah blah. I said fine. I meet with the previous tech installer who came the first time around. He knows what to do. I sign off on it. And that was the last time I ever heard from them. That was in JUNE. I have text, called, emailed trying to find out when they're coming back. NOTHING. I have now called and emailed trying to get my service canceled since they keep billing me!!! NOTHING. They have not returned any of my phone calls, no emails, nothing. But I keep getting billed! I keep talking to the billing company about my situation and they don't know what to do either. It's super frustrating. WORST customer service EVER. I am hoping that by going on YELP they'll finally call me back and cancel the billing for services NEVER rendered. It's ridiculous that it's been going on almost SIX MONTHS. Super annoying. Going to post this on Next Door too and am letting my HOA know that this is how they treat their customers. Over it. Stop billing for services you don't provide!! Good grief!!! read more
