The other reason, and the reason I'm writing this review, they recommended me also changing my air filter, saying that its recommended for my car at 10k miles. According to the manufacturer its actually +15k, so they also lied to me which is annoying. If I did go back, I would definitely not take their recommendations.

I make the drive from out in the suburbs and arrange rides to and from the shop when I need things done because the service and honesty is worth every bit of logistical hastle. I won't take my car anywhere else for repairs. Recently, I had an oil change done at another shop for convenience. They informed me that two of the CV boots had "blown out" and needed to be replaced. I scheduled a drop off to Starr, and sure enough the other shop was lying. Nothing wrong with the boots. The boots are $150 and surely even with Starr's reasonable labor prices I'd have been looking at least $200-250 in total to replace them. This shop is friendly, quick, and most of all honest. Their work is excellent, and they never recommend anything to be done if it doesn't need fixing. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.... and they don't! They won't try to get you to do things early, they won't hoodwink you, but they WILL meet you with a smile and an accurate timeline of when your car will be fixed and at least for me, the estimates have always ended up being accurate or the actual work being less. This shop is worth every bit of the drive to get your work done. I'll never go anywhere else.

Instead of inspecting that part, the shop replaced my starter and battery terminal posts, charging me $966. The problem was never fixed -- the Jeep still has the exact same starting issue. When I returned, Starr Auto admitted it might actually be the neutral safety switch and said they could repair it for another $200. That clearly shows the first repair was misdiagnosed and unnecessary. I'm a disabled veteran with VA disabled license plates, and I rely on my vehicle for daily mobility. I trusted this shop to treat me fairly, but instead I feel taken advantage of and disappointed by their lack of professionalism and integrity. I've since filed a credit card dispute for the $966 charge and would strongly caution other customers -- especially veterans -- to avoid this business.

They charged me an arm and a leg for the repair, which I decided to just eat at the time. But when I got the truck back, it was overheating after about twelve minutes of driving, to the point the A/C was blowing hot air. Which it was not doing at all before they'd touched it. I called them up, explained the issue, and they told me to bring it back so they could "take a look." I dropped it off the next day, and they claimed they couldn't find anything wrong. Then they offered to "fix" my A/C with a $300 freon recharge -- which made absolutely no sense. Even though I'm no mechanic, I wasn't born yesterday. When I got back in my truck, I also noticed they'd somehow damaged my driver's seat adjustment controls. At that point I took it to another mechanic in town, who immediately spotted the issue: the thermostat they installed was a cheap, faulty part. The second shop replaced it for half the price and I've had zero problems since. If they want to reply with some generic apology, that's fine -- it's too little, too late. I gave them a chance to make this right, and instead they tried to upsell me on something I didn't need. Either they're completely clueless or intentionally manipulative. Either way, I wouldn't touch this place with a ten-foot pole.

Paid to send the summons and have it served by the local sheriff department there. Get this, the attorney at the Valvoline Corporate Office would not accept the service. He would not accept the paperwork, and told the Sheriff that they were not accepting/allowing the court summons to be served to them. In fact nothing can be served there. Look everyone makes mistakes. Why this Corporate giant is acting so thirsty is beyond me. I have had my cars serviced at Valvoline for as long as I remember. I am so disappointed at how shady and irresponsible they are acting. On the whole I know they provide reliable service to thousands if not millions of customers. But everyone makes mistakes so why lie and dodge legal paperwork? This is not right!!! I lost my job behind this. They never even properly investigated my claim.
