I've played company softball on this field several times over the past few years. It used to be a…read morereally crappy field (read: torn up grass, weeds, divots, shoddy infield, pretty much dilapidated and forgotten-- conditions not conducive to a softball or baseball game) up until a couple years ago when it was totally renovated.* Now, it's totally, shall I, say beautiful? Well, if you like turf, it's quite nice. So, obviously it's a no cleats field. There is a really nice track that surrounds the one field as well. There are stands for observers, bathrooms (which is a HUGE plus for athletes. Trust me...when ya gotta go, ya gotta go. Also, the bathrooms are clean, AND they have soap and hand towels! I was amazed.**), and locker rooms, but those aren't open to the general public and are solely for students who go to MB high school. The field is impeccably maintained too. I saw one groundskeeper (no, it wasn't Willy) who actually raked the infield when we were finished with our game last night. I guess my only gripe is it'd be great if the infield was covered to protect it from rain. It was slightly muddy at home plate last night. Oh, and since it's almost directly under the Manhattan Bridge, it can get a little noisy, so you might have trouble hearing your infield. So, if you belong to a NYC softball league and are scheduled to play here, you're lucky, because it's one of the nicer turf fields in the city. *This could also be called "Verizon Field" if you want to be all corporate about it. I think they gave the high school money for remodeling. **Maybe if I knew you better I'd tell you of the bathroom horror stories at most softball fields...flies, no doors, port-o-potties, or no bathroom at all, which doesn't help if say, you've drunk too much Gatorade and can't stand and pee like a guy. Oh, I've said too much.

dirt infield which runs deep enough for baseball. softball outfielders will normally end up…read morestanding on the dirt. the rest of the field is turf, but non-metal cleats ARE allowed. nice views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. a previous review said turf and no cleats allowed, but that's incorrect. nice field, but well out if the way. best path is F train to east broadway stop, but that's still a 4-5 block walk from there.

Queens, NY (Flushing Meadows-Corona Park) - watching the Mets can be an exercise in masochism (or…read moreso I'm told), but as a non-sportsball person who has the charm of often being on the side of winning teams and cities where I attend the occasional game, the way how some lucky sumofabitch who's never stepped foot inside a casino hits the jackpot on the first try, I was thrilled to witness the Mets triumph over the Atlanta Braves on 7/9/26. This is not the first time I've been to Citi Field but it's been several years. And the first thing I noticed - as a wandering foodie who uses boring innings as an opportunity to hunt down the best eats - was that the concession game has leveled up considerably. In addition to typical stadium fare such as Italian sausage and chicken tenders with fries, you've got more premium vendors like Pat LaFrieda, Fuku, Seoul Bird, Pig Beach BBQ, Chef Kwame's Patty Palace (that's chef Kwame Onwuachi, whose hot Lincoln Center property Tatiana is *still* an impossible reservation to snag), and of course, the ubiquitous Shake Shack. I came on a company outing, and was pleased to discover that the food & beverage credit loaded onto our accounts was easy to use, and simply required scanning the ticket barcode on the MLB app. It's a beautiful park with good sightlines, and fun to walk around the concourse browsing shops and official Mets merch, and if you're me, food sampling your way around the stadium. I can't speak to the parking experience since I took public transit, but Citi Field is conveniently located right by the Mets-Willets Point stop on the 7 train or by LIRR (a quick trip from Penn Station). To avoid crowds, long lines, and jammed trains, I recommend playing hooky to catch a weekday game for the most pleasant and relaxed experience. Bottom line: this is a great outing with friends, family, or out-of-town visitors. You don't need to know what RBI stands for to enjoy this time-honored American tradition of watching grown men chase a ball, belting your heart out during the seventh inning stretch, and drinking overpriced concession stand beers.

Such an afternoon treat, came for the Mets and Red Socks game but I was really there for the food…read more Some of the eats we had didn't make it to photos, they were just TOO delicious. Definitely go for the pastrami sandwich, it was insanely good. That's also where you'll find the pickle spritz. Devoured a bag of zeppoles while they were warm and sugary 10/10! The sausage and peppers was a lot of bread so the ratio of bread to sausage was slightly off. A frozen strawberry lemonade ice was perfect on a sunny summer day. This is what summer time is all about.
