The rentals were way more affordable and great service. I will definitely be saving this for an annual trip back to Pacific Beach. The prices are high, but you can haggle a little bit with the manager to get a discount. I bought two 3-speed beach cruisers there in 2024. The service is not cheap, and sometimes you can encounter a delay. I had them change a flat on my 3-speed beach cruiser and the disc brake was rubbing a little after the tube replacement. I thought they should've confirmed the wheel was spinning freely before releasing the bike to me. Anyway, they corrected the problem but I had to wait an extra day. It was $25 to fix the flat with a tube that I provided to them. The bike shop guy gave me tips on how to change the rear tire (with an in-hub shifter). So that was appreciated. To avoid expensive surprises, be sure to get an estimate for repairs and tune-ups before the work gets started.

This is my first, because this business went above and beyond for us and they deserve all the love. My 12-year-old son and I drove down from Rancho Bernardo to San Diego Cyclery after reading great reviews about their service and they absolutely lived up to the hype. My son's Rad e-bike had stopped working, and he thought the motor had gone out. He's pretty hands-on with his bike, doing all kinds of mods, changing tires, swapping brakes, etc., so we weren't sure what to expect when we brought it in. Rick, their service tech, kindly explained that they can't work on heavily modified bikes due to liability reasons, but instead of turning us away, he checked with his manager to see if they could still take a look and at least pin point the issue and guide us on how to repair it. To our surprise, they took the time to inspect the bike right then and there. Rick and the shop manager (really nice guy and failed to get his name) checked everything over and even pulled an old motor from the back to troubleshoot. After a few minutes, they figured out it was just a disconnected wire causing the issue, something my son and I totally missed. They didn't charge us, didn't rush us, and treated my son and his bike with genuine care and kindness, even complimenting some of his mods (like his reupholstered seat). They had no obligation to help, but they did anyway, and we truly appreciated it. During our break we locked up our bikes and then when we tried to unlock them the lock was stuck. Thankfully when we called the guy at the store he did a FaceTime and helped us figure out what was going on with the lock. When he walked us through on how to unlock the jammed lock, he knew exactly what was going on. Overall it was a great experience and very friendly service at a very good price. We rented the beach cruisers which is the very basic bike you can get at $15 an hour, and then helmets and baskets are extra. It was worth it and we'd rent bikes here again!
