Originally I wanted to leave the airport for a beef sandwich to get a real one. Delayed flight didn't give me enough time to do so. 15 bucks for a sandwich and it was lacking meat and flavor. Beef was not tender at all. I guess I shouldn't expect much from airport food.

It's the airport. It's breakfast time. Where can I get a dog while on a layover. Made to order. Quick. Delicious. Always friendly. That's the real deal!

Looks like my previous entry, pics and location details from months ago were deleted. :-/ Had a great hotdog at that time and reviewed them as a 4. It's appears their volume has up and quality gone down. No care from the girls in the front handling the food coming out. Once in a bag, it's just a bag to them. So my Milwaukee hotdog got tossed around and upside down and much of the topping on the top of the container.. The dog was still yummy and fairly large on the pretzel roll.

We walked back out and found the door to the restaurant. Staff is warm and friendly and we were seated quickly. Our server was Robert and he was great! He gave his recommendations for which sides would go best with our meals and I felt they were spot on. They give complimentary bread and butter. It was warm and delicious. Hubby ordered the rib tips with fries, baked beans, and had the hot and mild barbecue sauce on the side. I ordered the 1/2 dark smoked chicken dinner with mac-n-cheese, spicy Cajun green beans, and spicy honey garlic barbecue sauce. I agree with Robert, that the sauce pairs very well with the chicken. The tips were tender and falling off the bone. He didn't care for the fries and loved the baked beans, even though they were a bit too spicy for him. My chicken was also very tender and I enjoyed the smokiness. The green beans had the right amount of spice although they were not as spicy as the baked beans. The mac-n-cheese was creamy. We were too full to order dessert. Maybe next time. This is a great neighborhood staple and will definitely be back.

We were immediately welcomed and asked to pick a table to sit and relax while the remaining staff finished getting organized. We were happily greeted by Bahar, who took our order, offered suggestions and kept our morning brew full throughout our stay. Food came out hot and delicious , my friend had the daily special (vegetarian omelet, french toast, and hash browns) and I chose the Club Breakfast (egg whites with spinach/onions, french toast, turkey bacon, turkey sausage). Service was fast. Everything had a great flavor with a home cooked feel to it ! Great place for a relaxing bite after a long flight or if in the area looking for friendly/family service and a great meal!

So we decided to try this spot, as they had vegetarian options for me and my wife. We ordered the veggie egg Benedict with hash browns, our son had banana Nutella crepe, and my friend had the bone steak with hash browns. Egg Benedicts was good but the hash browns were hard and under cooked. I've always ordered hash browns from different restaurants and they usually come done and toasted/crunchy so I was in an understanding that they come like this by default from any establishment. Was a little disappointed. I was too hungry and too early in the day that I didn't complain or sent it back, and just ate it anyway. I tried some of the crepe and it was just okay. My friend mentioned the tbone steak was just alright and his hash browns were undercooked and he end up not eating it too. Overall this place was just alright.

We understood…read moregoing in that it is not a restaurant designed with health-conscious diners as its primary audience. Fortunately, with our knowledge of nutrition, we were able to modify our meal selections to better align with our dietary goals. Unfortunately, the food itself was the greatest disappointment. Nearly every item was excessively salted to the point that it overwhelmed the natural flavors and ultimately detracted from the entire meal. Proper seasoning should enhance a dish, not dominate it. The service was a brighter aspect of our visit. Our server was friendly, personable, and made a genuine effort to ensure we received everything we requested. She provided attentive service and created a pleasant dining experience despite the shortcomings of the food. Overall, this visit reinforced an impression I formed years ago after dining at another TGI Fridays near Spokane, Washington. At the time, I hoped that experience was an isolated incident. After giving the brand another opportunity, I no longer believe that to be the case. While convenience brought us through the door, the quality of the food did not provide a compelling reason to return. Regrettably, this will be our final visit to TGI Fridays.

It may be the original location, or that honor may go to the yet unvisited-by-me third location closer to the Loop, but in any case, this Huck Finn definitely feels different from the one I'm used to. The lighting fixtures, booths, and art all have the same tacky early-2000s feel as the other location, but that's where the similarities end. This one is much smaller, although its dessert-case area has its own tables, and the outside of the building advertises ice cream. This Huck Finn feels like a coffee shop, which is probably why my dad says he likes it more than the "original"--original to us, at least. It has a counter, and while the building looks large from outside, it has about half the seating of Oak Lawn. There's a funky mirror near the bathrooms that makes it look like there's a back dining room--or possibly a Den of Iniquities like the original--but it's all an optical illusion. Service is quick and efficient, as it is at Oak Lawn. Our server, though, was a familiar no-nonsense throwback to an earlier time. Oak Lawn has some of those, but most of its servers are younger women with the thickest Chicago/Great Lakes accents you'll ever hear. (Seriously, although they're all under thirty-five, they sound like they're about to start collecting Social Security.) She was short on small talk, but she made up for it with sass and a whole lot of hard work. The food is good, although the menu is more limited than Oak Lawn's. One thing I don't like is that the menus are flimsy printouts. Oak Lawn at least has laminated pages, although I miss the old multi-page booklet-style menus. Oh well. They have Texas and Alaska donuts here, so it's a legit Huck Finn. It's physically possible to make a left turn onto Pulaski from their parking lot, but I think it's illegal, as you'd have to cross a quadruple yellow line. I spotted two cop cars near here, one when we were arriving, and one when we left, so be careful out there.
