I don't understand the thrill of this place. I went to hear my friends band play. I knew it was a dive bar, I love dive bars. But this place? Burger was decent. Beer wasn't really cold, they don't even give it to you in a real pint glass. Service even at the bar sucked. Bar manager was a jerk. The bathroom was disgusting. Unless someone I know is playing here, I'm never going back. I'd rather go to Greenville or Henderson Ave, spend less money, have a cleaner establishment, and better service. read more

Watch out for the bartender/manager; she is an abrasive nasty woman. She takes incompetence, aggression, and stupidity to a new level. After making you wait for ten minutes for a drink (on a weekday), she will threaten to not serve you if you don't fire off you order in one second flat. I am never going back until she is fired. This is the bar that pretty much defines dive bar. You can read the writing on the wall...via the decades of wall grafiti. There is frequently live music and I know some people who will argue to the death with you if you try to insist that there is a better hamburger to be found in the Big D. There's several tables in the back for when weather gets warmer...just don't try to push any of them together. That is strictly verboten. We learned that one the hard way. It's a nice spot, but not the best place to go in the area if you want to hang out and talk, due to the very loud live music. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) I also prefer cider over beer and really wish they had ANY cider to offer. This is a dive bar in all its glory - and comes with the pros and cons of any good dive bar. First--people who don't enjoy being in the general public, should not go out into it. I'm looking at you Kinz. Adair's is a dive bar. It looks like a dive bar, it smells like a dive bar. The one thing that separates it from other dive bars is the bacon cheeseburger. It is delish. My only complaint was that it was so big I could not get it into my mouth. I had to mash it. Adair's also deserves it's place among the top ten list of juke boxes. And the people watching is sublime. While there we had a girl totally dressed as Captain Marvel--and no I do not mean Shazam, that's what Captain Marvel said when he transformed, not who he was. And yes she was really dressed that way, though I'm not sure Captain Marvel wore fishnets. There was a group of ladies who were just getting off work and a crusty cowboy. Service was good. This is the place you decide to go after you've already ditch all hope to drive your own car home. This is the cheapest pitchers of beer in town . . . Well, I am not from TX and although most people mention words like cowboy when they talk about this place all I could think of were some of the whole in the wall bars from back home that we would go to. The writing was on the walls. So I wrote. The "bar maid", if you can call her that, was just as gruff and disturbing as some men I know. She scoffed at my son as she informed him that they didn't serve root beer..."This is a BAR". Little did she know that the kid could drink her under the table and that some of your biggest shithole bars serve root beer. In a bottle. With a cap you open with your teeth. In honor of this biker bar beauty my kid drew a very detailed gravestone on the floor, swallowed his jalapeno burger in one bite, finished off the rest of his drink, left her a hefty tip and skidaddled on outta there. Wooo hoo! After a few days of "ladies who lunch", high-end shopping and pricey dinners while visiting Dallas, I was ready for a place like Adair's! It's very un-Dallas, or at least compared to the Dallas that I was exposed to during my short time there. Adair's is not stuffy by anyone's standards! Patrons are encouraged to write on the wall and draw mustaches on pictures with a Sharpie. They serve cheap drinks and don't even flinch when a group of girls orders a round of Bud heavy and Jager shots. I was lucky enough to witness my first "pickin' party" while there. Didn't even know what one was until then. I would TOTALLY go back to Adair's! It's almost a requirement - like it brings you back to reality! read more

I love that there's a place in Dallas where you can grab a marker from 6-pack of beer carboard container (now being used a ketchup/salt/pepper/napkin caddy) and leave your mark. When my husband used to have happy hour with the boys every week (I didn't stop him - I think he's just getting old - Ha Ha!), Adairs was their Wednesday night choice. With one of the best burgers in Dallas and $1.50 drafts, you can't go wrong. Hubby dearest walked many a tab there, but since they weren't worried about whether or not he'd be back, they didn't abide by the additional $20 fee that is customary thesedays for a walked tab. It isn't a place you walk into with a few people sitting at the bar staring at an empty dance floor. This is far from that. It is busy. It is popular, and not surprisingly. It's a genuinely fun and laid-back place. A dive bar is better suited to describe a place with wooden table, writing all over the walls and ceilings, and plastic cups to drink out of. No one is there to "be seen," or to "show off." If you walk in with stilettos or your typical Uptown garb, you'll quickly see why you don't fit in. See, people are there to enjoy Adair's for what it is. The closest thing to a honky tonk we have in the city. Don't be surprised if you get bumped or shoved if you walk near the dance floor. You will see two-stepping, solo dancing, or people just standing near the stage enjoying the talented country musicians. It's not that they are rude, they are just having a great time living it up. After all that, should you find yourself hungry after all that dancing and drinking, order up some grub. They have incredibly delicious (and incredibly large) burgers. Being a George Motz stalker, and being in Dallas for a convention, a stop at Adair's had to be made. So, there I was on a Sunday afternoon, dressed in a suit, my eyes having finally adjusted to the darkness inside, I found myself on a ratty old bar stool, sandwiched between some rowdy members of the local Teamsters MC and some trendily dressed 20-somethings there to listen to the one man band on stage. As the one man band quite effectively worked a drum kit, guitar and harmonica while belting out Folsom Prison Blues, my burger arrived. Yes, this place made the pages of Hamburger America for a good reason. Larger than my head, this burger was awesome. The 20-something next to me looked over and said "man, that's a big burger." You bet, pal. Big and delicious - hand formed patty from fresh, never frozen, beef. The fries appeared to have been grilled, which gave them a unique flavor. Unfortunately, they also appear to have been stacked in my basket while still steaming hot (which led to some sogginess). If you're looking for the type of nirvana you can find in a place where bikers, cool kids and some old guy in a suit enjoying an awesome burger (and a few Shiner Bocks on tap) can all co-exist in peace and harmony, give Adair's a try. read more

yep its true, this bar is kick ass. its a smaller bar but that just adds to the coolness of it. Wall to wall graffiti and live music, not to mention Lone Star beer for a $1! Last time I was there we saw Speedtrucker and all of my friends and I had a blast. It was so packed and yet there were people country dancing near the stage. As many times as I have been I've never tried their food so that will have to change. They have two bars, one in the front and a smaller one in the back near the restrooms. A saloon! I'm not sure if I've ever been to any other saloon before. If you visualize an old-timey Western watering hole- you're not completely off the mark. But this one has a special 'je ne sais quoi" that I would say is a special blend of middle-of-nowhere-Texas-town and some deep south'rn style. The mood is set with the dim lighting. Your eyes struggle to read the ubiquitous written comments and stories left by patrons of years gone by, that will last forever on the walls, tables, ceiling, etc.- thanks to the permanence of a classic black Sharpie. Not a fan of this bar. Maybe it's because I'm not a middle aged man wanting to re-live my college days... it's not trendy, it's very college-town-ish, and it's filled with 30-40 year old suburban men (and their wives) who wear plaid shorts and polos. Visited Adair's on a Saturday night on a suggestion from an acquaintance (was visiting from Boston). Had heard the Deep Ellum area was a little "seedy." Reminded me of Adams Morgan in DC. Lots of bars and restaurants in a few blocks. We went to Adair's to hear live music. I'd describe it as having a lot of character - from the pictures and writing on the walls to the music. The crowd was mostly 20s/30s. People were up dancing to the band and a lot of people seemed to know each other. Overall, it had a low key, but fun vibe. read more

This bar is awesome! If you love country and are looking for a place to go, I suggest this bar. They have live music on the weekends and a small area you can dance at, I wouldn't say a dance floor specifically, but you can make it work because everyone else does! This may be just a little hole in the wall, but to me those are the best spots and prices are so reasonable! Anywhere that serves Lone Star, Pearl Light and Pabst Blue Ribbon in cans is a winner winner chicken dinner! Aside from their old school beer selection, their food ROCKS! My usual is the cheeseburger with an extra jalapeño, and toasted buns please! The thick patty is simple and juicy and there is no other way of describing it than go and try it, you won't be disappointed! The various music artist they have there on the weekends is another reason to hit up Adair's on a regular basis. I have become a fan of several local bands, they are all true musicians. The bartenders are always in a good mood and are quick to get you a drink even when you are standing behind the guy that is 6'2". As mentioned in previous posts you can write on almost everything except the TVs, shuffle board table and the picture (of Elvis) that is right next to the kitchen. I have been to Adairs a million times, stalking a band that plays there often. Bartenders are cool, cocktails are weak, but most people drink beer. Speaking of which, I have to disagree with other yelpers who mentioned "cold" beer. It's not all that cold. In fact it's kind of..... warmish. Using plastic pitchers and cups may be charming, but it ain't gonna keep your beer cold. The food is hot (plus), but nothing to write home about (minus). I'm about 89% sure I'm not contracting an STD when I use the lady's room... let's see, what else... Ah, the crowd. Alright, I go on nights when an Americana band is playing so we get a lot of suntans, bedazzled handbags, and cowboy boots. But there are also a certain number of SMU types that wander in, looking around at everyone to make sure everyone is taking notice of their polo-wearing awesomeness. Really good burgers, they cook to order which means quality meat. Best bacon I ever tasted. I had my burgers done to medium. The French fries were just so-so. Blood and Honey beer is on draft and was really good with oranges. The place is really small and divey but has lots of character . I love hanging out at Adair's, they have good music and the burger's are awesome. There can be 'issues' when the SMU crowd blows in and starts stuff occassionaly, but it's still worth it to go. One of my absolute favorite things about Adair's you ask? Pitchers of Jack and Coke! Love it! Parking sucks, but most of the parking down in deep ellum does.
