A coworker suggested I try this place. I'm visiting the Dallas Fort Worth area from So Cal and wanted to get into DT Dallas to see the JFK museum. So it was that on a Saturday night I found myself starving and not able to find something really close on yelp that sounded as good as my coworker's recommendation. I asked some kind people who worked at the JFK museum cafe how to get to Adair's and they suggested I take the train. Worked out perfectly! I got off at the Baylor Medical Center stop and it was just a short walk away. Adair's isn't much to look at but I wasn't there for the ambiance. I walked up to the bar and ordered a cheese burger with bacon and fries. A nice lady tried to keep me from ordering the fries (she said they "aren't worth it"). I should have listened to her. They aren't. They weren't the worst I've ever had but they were way too greasy. Now the burger, on the other hand was really fabulous! The patty is ginormous! More than that it tasted great too. But the true strength of this burger was the way it was put together. Underneath the patty was the most perfect, like quarter inch thick slices of red onion and tomato I believe I've ever had on a burger. There is no more to say about it. Except one thing. If they fix those fries they'll get another star. read more

Review #300 Don't be mistaken, this is a dive bar. I mean that in the best of ways. For those of you who prefer your beer of the Pabst or Pearl Light variety, they have you covered. If you prefer something on the craft side, they also have Lakewood and Peticolas on tap. Whatever your beer preference, you can find something to your liking at Adair's. Perhaps you're headed to Adair's to listen to one of the many live musicians/bands that might be playing that night. That's great. You'll be welcomed into a place where no one is concerned about what kind of car you drive or what brand of jeans you're wearing. Adair's is definitely a casual place worth checking out for a drink and some fun. If you do head out to Adair's, do yourself a favor and order one of their cheeseburgers. They are big. They are juicy. They are messy. They are fantastic. I ordered my burger at the bar and it came out perfect. The food menu is not very extensive, but it really doesn't need to be. Order a burger and a beer and you're all set. Seasoned fries on the side help to make the meal complete. Now, if you go to Adair's and order the chicken sandwich, it may be a bit dry. Adair's is a staple on this side of Deep Ellum. They offer live music on a nightly basis. The music is country and more specifically Texas Country. If you have to ask what Texas Country is.. you might want to stay clear. The interesting thing about Adair's for new visitors is all the decorations on the wall. Just about every inch of this place is covered with something unique and interesting. So the crowd at Adair's is a diverse crowd. Everyone is encouraged to stand up and dance if the mood hits you. Don't worry guys, you won't have a problem finding a lovely lady to dance with. This place is a bit old school in a lot of ways. There is shuffleboard in the back & if you're a smoker you can sit on the patio. But one thing you will find out is that is they offer food. It's basic burgers and fries. But you're going to be surprised. They are like some roadside gas station burger from Arkansas. ( I'm not saying Arkansas burgers are better than the ones in Texas, I'm just saying there are more roadside gas station burgers in Arkansas.) They are greasy, tasty and something to be proud of, especially with that big ole purple onion on it! Food til 1:30am! If you go there more than 3 times, you'll probably get to know the bartender and enjoy a good laugh or two. Parking in the area is the normal Deep Ellum parking. I've been there pre-Yelp days and it is still the same cool place to hang if you can get past all the "trendy" folks that have invaded Deep Ellum. The drinks are perfect and the service is grand. I tried the foods for the very first time (I just drank before and had hangover food elsewhere) and I was completely satisfied because it was the comfort food I always desire: GRILLED CHEESE WITH BACON AND TATER TOTS! I came here because my wife was looking for some live country music so we walked from downtown Dallas into deep ellum, the wife wasn't entirely pleased with a 34 degree 20 minute walk so when we arrived I ordered up a couple fire balls to warm our stomachs and then two cold beers. The two bartenders were both very nice and we hit it off with them and some of the locals sitting around us, very friendly people. The music did not disappoint and the man with the large beard played very well. Only downfall was the drinks were kind of expensive for a dive bar. About 4 dollars and some change for a can, maybe it was because they saw a yankee from Chicago and figured I had money. Either way this place is worth the visit. read more

Adair's is so country that it's punk, and indeed, on many a night, the mohawks and leather jackets out number the cowboy hats. A lot of bikers also frequent this bar. It's got the the best jukebox I've ever heard. Period. I once overheard a fellow at the Red Oak VFW talking about the Adair's jukebox to another patron. Now, if folks in Red Oak have heard about that jukebox, it's freakin' famous. Cheep beer, cheep food, and there's never a cover. Aside from having good live bands every night, on Sundays a few older guys come in, put their boots up on the table, and pick at their banjos. Totally fun space! I didn't know what to expect as my friends and I walked towards the space but we knew it would be fun based on the music pumping out into the street. There's just one thing to know before you go... Don't forget a Sharpie! This place is the absolute most graffitti'd bar I've ever seen. Ever wall, every surface, even the CEILINGS are scrawled on! I'm not sure how long this bar has been here but just from the scribbles alone I'd guess it's been around a while. The bar staff was super nice, drinks came quick, and the live music had everyone dancing and smiling. The crowd was also interesting, too. I noticed people in their 40s and older, but also a great mix of young folks. It's almost as if the bar doesn't have a theme because the crowd was so diverse. But that's what made it fun! Good people watching too. On a warm summer night it was perfect to grab some seats outside and talk to my friends over the music coming through the windows onto the street. It was a nice break from dancing and we ended up having such a blast we closed the bar down! But that wasn't hard to do when nearly everyone else in the bar did too. We had no reference for time because there was still a large group of people hanging out till close. I also recall the door man really kindly reminding us that it was last call and that at some point he had to stack up and pack away the patio furniture for the night. It was so different from Seattle where they holler at you and scream at you to tell you to leave. Here they were super friendly and not too pushy. It worked wonders because as soon as he announced last call we paid up and left promptly. Such a fun night! If I'm back in Dallas I'd definitely make a trip back here. read more

I love, love, love me some Adair's. It's the place you bring your friends when they're down. It's the place you bring your friends when they're happy. It's the burger that fixes everything because it's so. dang. good. I have spent many a night living it up in Adairs. I have my name on the ceiling next to a pair of yellow underpants. (there is a ladder you just gotta know who to ask for it and no I'm not telling you who) Adairs has GREAT burgers, I think they put some sort of extra fat meat that will make you drool every time. Also who doesn't love cheap can beer?? I do, I do!! The food is great, the beers are cheap and COLD! There is a live band almost every night with no cover charge, and they recently paved the back parking area. OH- and if you get there early enough to park in that area it's free. Who ever heard of free parking in Deep Ellum? Everyone is welcome, come as you are, cuz it doesn't matter if you're wearing jeans and a t-shirt or a suit and tie, you're in. I just can't express in words how much I love this place.. If you're a lady and you go to the restroom and you see next to the sink where it says "Erin and Moriah big and thick" yup that's me!! I used to visit this place a few times to see King Bucks play. But after two of my friends were bullied by the OWNER of the bar for being gay and dancing together (when I say bullied, I mean in your face and mocking you for who you are bullied). I have put this on my ban list. I've never really liked the place personally, but I always give something a few tries, especially if your friends like going there. The bartenders don't really have a great personality and they all have some sort of attitude, at least every time I've been there (which was 4 times). The bathroom really scares me! I know bar bathrooms are never the best, but I was literally scared to touch anything in this restroom. After speaking to a few people, I've been told that the owner is a total jerk. Hah, well...I know that i'm a Texan but I am no cowgirl. I'm not into cowboy music and honky tonks, buuuut I really dig this place. My friends and I came here due to the disappointingly early closing hours at Angry Dog and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to check 'em out. The bartender was very friendly, I almost want to say that the words "southern hospitality" came to mind. You drink cheap beer from a can or plastic mug, so this place isn't really for beer snobs, such as myself, but it was nice change of pace. Each table is armed with sharpies and the tables, walls, even pictures are covered in graffiti, I like that because i'm definitely a "doodler". Again, I'm not into country music etc etc, but I really enjoyed the band playing, the band members were also so friendly, they took the time to introduce themselves and to ask our names, gave us some band info etc. The band's name is 'Three Cities Burning'. If I can find an excuse to go to a "saloon" again, I'll be back. heh, I like dives and this place would definitely be considered a dive. If you think crawfish are gross, this ain't your place, partner. And finally.... If you don't like wooden bathrooms, this DEFINITELY ain't your place. Adairs is for the guy's guy and the girls who like to hang with them. You don't get all dressed up in your 5 inch heels and Ed Hardy shirts to come here, or you might get a few stares. Even though the location and parking are a little troublesome for most, I think it's a great joint to sit with your close buddies and have some good ole bucket beer. I visited Adair's once in college and wrote my sorority and name initials all over something (can't exactly remember what), and I vowed to come back and see if it was still there someday. That was four years ago. Last Sunday, I joined the crew here for their second crawfish boil of the season. Sad to say, I couldn't locate my writing on the wall but I DID walk away fat and happy. First of all, it was free. Second, the mudbugs were ginormous...we even felt the need to name several of them (Harry, Ralph and Loretta were my favorites). Third, it was a great crowd - not too packed, not too slow. It was juuuuust right. What can I say about Adair's? Oh......OH so much. If you have been there, you know exactly why. Does it have charm? It's a dive. Writing all over EVERYTHING, not just the walls...I do believe the walls are 2 inches thick with sharpie. But don't write on their new flatscreen TVs, the head of the last guy that did that is still on the wall. Booths that I believe have been there sine 1905. Possibly the same toilets. And a wooden stage at the front that I swear will fall at any moment. Yes, it has charm. Does it have food? The food here is so good, makes you wanna punch a nun. The burgers are legendary, and the fries they grill WITH your burger, a new tactic...and I say bravo. Yes, their food is amazing. Do they have cool events? Other than the constant playlist of AWESOME live shows almost every night, they always have something going on. Lance and I attended their crawfish boil this last Sunday, and not only did they give a whopping pound and a half to EACH PERSON, these crawfish were so big I could have used them as door stops. Biggest I've seen this season so far, hands down. How much, you ask? F.R.E.E. And as much as you want. I fell a little bit MORE in love with Adair's that day. The first thing I smelled was stale beer and cigarettes and I nostalgically swooned for my college days in the Fort Worth Stockyards and my debaucherous 20s in New Orleans. Adair, you amuse me. Whoever you are. We walked in the back door around 9pm and were greeted by a group of drunken cowboys in their 30s - old enough to be my father/ maybe great uncle. Beers. Levis. Cowboy hats. The following conversation. Cowboy: "I'm single, are you?" Me: (playing along for fun..) "I am!" Older Cowboy: "I'm singlest." "But you and this guy might have more in common." (Pushes a 30 something bubba my way) Bubba: "We been hur for 4 hourshh.." Me: "Wow. Really?" -- anyway, I graciously excused myself to join my friend after they started circling around me like a herd of cattle... they were colorful and harmless and just added to the warm and worn-in feeling of Adairs. Bar service was quick, efficient and the bartender called me "darlin'". (sigh). The music that night was incredible! They had a kid in from Norway singing and playing lead guitar backed up by a bluegrass/ jazzy band. There were a few people dancing in the open space. The crowd was easy going and supportive of the musicians. Next time I'm in Dallas I will make it a point to drop in for a drink, some good tunes and southern men in denim. read more

I've never been mad enough at a business to write a negative review, but Adair's customer service (or lack thereof) from one bartender was appalling enough that writing a negative review is well warranted. It was a Friday night, so naturally the place was busy. The atmosphere was great and the music was fantastic. My wife and I went up to the bar to order shots for the group we were with. We waited 5 minutes for service, which is not a complaint by any means. I expect to wait 5 minutes or more on a busy Friday night. But this is where it went downhill. This bartender asks us "What can I do for y'all?" My wife tries to order one drink, and the bartender says he's out of the main ingredient for that one. She asks for a different one and he says, "Okay what else?" I ask for an Alien Brain Hemorrhage, and he says he doesn't know what that is, which, okay, it's kind of an obscure drink so no problem. So I ask for an Irish Car Bomb, and he says he's out of Bailey's. Pretty basic liquor, but whatever. So I ask, "Well what do you recommend?" And he says to me, verbatim, "Uh, I'm thinking you better make up your mind, because I'm kind of in a hurry." And it was in the exact tone you just read it in: pushy. I was a bit taken aback, as you can imagine, so I just said I'll get what she's getting. But afterwards, I kind of regretted giving this dbag my money. I'm so sorry to inconvenience you, buddy! Maybe if you would stock up on some basic liquor, we wouldn't have taken up so much of your precious time. Next time I feel like getting treated like the dirt that was caked on the bar, (as opposed to, you know, a paying customer) I'll come to this place. Until then, I'll head elsewhere. read more

This is THE dive bar to end all dive bars! I stopped by Adairs after a hearty late Sunday lunch at the Twisted Root, and walked into a jam session at Adairs. There must have been 15 people sitting around a big table just jamin' some great tunes. I would guess there were 6-7 people on the guitar, 1 dude playing a giant stand-up bass, a couple of banjos, a harmonica, a chick playing the accordion and a few small percussion things here and there. It was like opening the door to Austin, TX. Anyway, the atmosphere was great, the music even better, and the beer was cold. I was happy. read more

We came down to Deep Ellum for a show and stopped at Adair's, went to The Factory and had to come back to Adair's for an emergency out of our control and Charlie, the door sir, was the most helpful and genuine person I've interacted with on this spinning rock. I've been going to Adiars since i was old enough to get in. Most of the time, im going for the music, they book a lot of local acts that i love, and they also attract some of the bigger guns in the Texas Singer Songwriter genre as well. They come because Adiars has history, just look at the walls...my name has been written and written over so many times, it just looks like a big black blob now. There is never a cover, so come on out and support local and TEXAS music. They will pass the tip bucket around towards the end of the night, and will normally pick out the hottest chick in the bar to do so. Watch those jean skirts and cowboy boots, boys. You can two step or rock out, depending on the night. And don't forget to try the burgers, they are phenomenal. These bad boys are really like a backyard with the family burger, with a jalopeno impailed on top, and the frie are cooked on the GRILL, right next to the burger. This is a pretty big hole in the wall, but it is a true dive bar. You're assured a good time at Adair's, even when it seems pretty dead. Why? Because there's always cheap drink, good music and great conversation to be had. The bartenders are some of the nicest folk around, and they put up with a lot of interesting patrons...including myself, especially when drunk. Let's talk drinks. Mixed drinks are served in plastic cups. How rock steady is that? While it's not environmentally conscious, they ARE saving water by not washing so many glasses--am I right? Mixed drinks are good, too. And properly strong. Ask for a red headed slut. Do it, you know you want to. Beer. Served in a can. Are you seeing a trend here? No glass in a bar is really a wise move if you ask me. While I've never SEEN a bar fight at Adair's, if there were to be one, there'd be no risk of breaking glass a la Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore. At least not on the patron's side of the bar. How smart is THAT? Plus, as has been mentioned before, they have Lone Star. I'm a fan. Let's talk atmosphere. This is where I want to be romanced. Seriously. It's covered floor to--and--ceiling in permanent marker with scribblings of customers. I have added a few of my own. But to be different, I used a blue Bic ballpoint pen. There are traffic signs hung on the walls along with the typical neon beer signs. Even the bathrooms have been covered entirely in graffiti. So if you ever need bathroom reading material, you're in good hands. Music. There's usually live music, and the kicker is, it's usually GOOD. Covers of Johnny Cash and Robert Earl Keen have been played before, to my delight. And when the live music stops (and I stop screaming "TAKE OFF YOUR TOP!"), there's a pretty nifty juke box outfitted with some great country classics and even some fun rock 'n roll to, well, rock to. If you're a smoker, you'll make friends out back while you puff away. If you're not, you'll make friends at the bar. No matter who you are, you'll enjoy yourself at Adair's. read more

Adair's Saloon, you are the cutest little bar I ever did see. My first time here was with my roommate and her friends to add Adair's to their Dallas Burger Challenge. I am so happy I went along! Burgers are the only thing they serve and mine was de-lish. I ordered it medium with cheese and no mayo. It came more medium well to well done, but the burger wasn't dry and still had a lot of flavor. Fries were good too. Adair's has kind of a rustic feel. There are road sings and posters, and you can sign your name all over the walls and booths. Great jukebox, strong cocktails, and cold beer. We had to leave to meet other friends, and I was begging my roommate to just make them come to us. Cool bar. I'll definitely be back. read more

Dear Adairs Oh how I love and miss you. I know it was short but our love affair was so passionate for the year I could not live without you that I often still think of you. Your pool tables are warped as all get out but I still love to play on them just for the challenge of getting a ball in the hole.. I have had many pleasurable experiences here when Eleven Hundred Springs was on stage and still unknown. And my favorite memory was when I was back stage upstairs at Gypsy Tea Room and Willie Nelson asked me where I got my burger. I answered Adairs and he asked me if I would get him one with fries because he did not like the Mexican food Gypsy Tea Room was catering. I still tease him that I had to pay for his burger out of my own pocket because they would not take the one hundred dollar bill he gave me..
