They are not the cheapest nor the highest but it was the detail of work listed on the contract that told me this is a roofer that I can trust and knows what they are doing. Jacob is an easy going and easy to work with person. Unlike alot of contractors, they purposely ommit some items on the contract because they know you don't know the stuff, and nickle and dime you through out the work process. The job foreman Alex and his brother Omner are true professionals. They know the stuff and very courteous. They even power wash my front/ back / side yards/ drive way and my garage doors during the clean up process. And this was not even in the contract!!! They told me this is their protocal for every job they do. When the job was completed, Jacob provided me a final inspection approval from the city and roof warranty registration from CertainTeed within 3 days. Lastly, I am a builder and developer. I worked with lots of contractors and Moctezuma stood out on all spectrum.

He also secured competitive pricing for copper gutter guards. - He is technically savvy and very knowledgeable about all aspects of roofing. You feel like you are working with a true industry veteran. - He speaks excellent English and communicates clearly. - When we pointed out areas that needed improvement, he was accommodating and made corrections without pushback. - The estimate was reasonable for this type of project and closely matched typical pricing for similar work in the San Francisco Bay Area. A couple of the other companies we contacted were noticeably higher. - The crew was highly skilled and worked very efficiently. They nearly completed the entire roof in about five days. - The finished roof looks beautiful and the craftsmanship is excellent. - We were given some extra spare roof tiles for future repairs so we won't have to worry about matching issues. Cons - The project started later than expected. We were initially told November or December, but work did not begin until late January. We received only one day of notice before the crew arrived. - Not all potential extra costs were clearly quantified in advance. The contract noted possible added charges for plywood replacement, but we were not shown photos or told about dry rot until the final walkthrough, along with a 1,500 dollar extra charge. The copper gutter guard cost was also not disclosed until then. - The tile quantity was underestimated. The crew ran out of tiles, causing a delay while more were shipped from Kansas. We had to purchase an additional 400 square feet of tiles, increasing the total cost by about 3,500 dollars and extending the timeline. - At the walkthrough, there was no itemized invoice for the additional charges totaling about 10,000 dollars. We were told an itemized statement could be emailed later. It felt unusual to be asked to pay based only on verbal totals. - After the final walkthrough and payment, we were later told we still owed another 1,000 dollars due to a misquote on the extra tile cost. That change after payment did not feel very professional. Overall, although some parts of the process could have been handled better, we are very happy with the quality of the finished roof. We would still choose Moctezuma Roofing again and would recommend them based on the workmanship and final result.

Scammers! These guys told me there were 2 options for fixing…read morea small roof leak - an expensive permanent fix or a temporary fix for a bit cheaper. I was told that the temporary fix would definitely get me through this season but not the next and the permanent fix would last until I get a new roof. I was considering getting a new roof, which they knew about, and provided a quote for, so I paid for the temporary fix only. The very next day it rains and it's clear the "fix" didn't work. I ask them to return and actually fix the leak this time so they come back and haphazardly throw some more tar on the roof. It doesn't rain for another 2 weeks but the moment it starts raining, the leak shows up again. This time when I ask them to come back, I'm told I need to sign a contract with them to replace the entire roof and that there are no refunds for the faux leak repair. CROOKS! Don't waste your money. Pay someone who knows what they're doing. Not this inexperienced father and son duo who will cheat you out of your money. Edit to address business response: I am thoroughly disappointed that you claim to state facts in your response. I was told specifically that the temporary fix would "100% resolve the leak". I was told the cause of leak was evident and the temporary fix would prevent leakage for the rest of this rainy season. I was given two options for repair - neither of which involved a full roof replacement. I was told the more expensive "repair" would last until I decided to replace my roof. I chose the less expensive option since I did intend on replacing the roof at some point. When your claims about the repair turned out to be false, you came a second time and explained why the temporary fix was inadequate. You then explained how the remediation performed that day would "absolutely fix the problem". This has nothing to do with the structural integrity of my roof or its age. There was no indication that the roof needed to be replaced immediately. The home water heater was recently updated and replaced. The area around its exhaust vent was likely damaged during replacement causing the leak immediately above the water heater. If you provided facts at the time of repair I would not be upset about your work and tactics. I was told the leak would be stopped with your repair. Period. It was not. I guess you get what you pay for. What made this worse was that you then tried to make me sign a contract for a FULL roof replacement locking me into your low quality services. Why on earth would I allow you to do anymore work on my roof when you lied to my face about the leak and your workman quality is clearly subpar? You also offer no kind of guarantee on your work so the risk is too high.

They appear to have done a great job on a small to moderate roof repair from a leaking easement on my home. They were very responsive from the Yelp inquiry and sent out someone a day or two later who seemed experienced and forthright (Dario). He was able to immediately diagnose the source of my water entry (something another company had missed or tried to upsell on diagnosing it a different way). He was willing to walk me through what he was seeing on the roof and also took photos clearly showing the issue. While he was up there, I brought two other minor issues I'd been meaning to take care of and he was happy to take photos and add them to the quote (cracked vent seal and small area of entry into the attic). They put together a formal quote and proposal within a few days and I was able to talk with one of the owners (Jason) on the phone to discuss the questions I had. He was willing to work with me on alternative (less expensive) options on one of the repairs I was requesting and walked me through the pros/cons. Felt like he really understood what I was looking for and took the time with me, even though I know it was a small repair for them. They completed the work in one day, within a week of deciding to move forward. Payment was easy and online with an immediate receipt. Price seemed fair --- bay area expensive, but worth not doing the work myself for this situation. I'd look to them first for any future work.
