This is an update to the review I made two days ago. In that review, I complained about Adam Eck's billing that automatically included a 3% credit card processing fee to the service charge. The billing system charged the processing fee even though I provided my banking information to process an ACH. Adam and Kim both responded to my complaint and hand delivered a refund of the credit card processing fee the next yesterday morning and explained to me that they had implemented a new software program, which had a few bugs in it. They also honored a contract price that we had entered when they did my fall furnace check up. As far as their new service price goes, I can understand how the cost of everything has gone up. When I called to inquire about scheduling an appointment, the young lady who answered was super polite and let me know in advance that they were booked that week but gave me a couple of options for the following week. Our issue wasn't an urgent matter, so the following week was perfect. My appointment window was between 11-1pm. Adam arrived promptly at 11 and was eager to see if he could diagnose the issue with our heater. I knew within 5 minutes of him working on the heater that he knew exactly what he was doing. He was very informative about the process and gave us recommendations on next steps in the event that his HVAC magic didn't work. But, Alas it did work!! Once again, Yelp reviews are a consistent way of finding a great company. I had called previously in November because my furnace was acting buggy but then started working. Kim was really helpful, and in the end, we decided to hold off since it would be hard to diagnose and wind up costing $$$ Come to February and my heater is now rarely working. Kim called me back right away and if I wasn't working, I would have gotten an appointment the soonest day available. Adam was on time, super helpful, and walked through the various issues as well as showing me causes of air intake restrictions (which were helping to cause the heater to lock out). He also talked about gas pump heater lifespans, the new legislation and had suggestions on preparing for replacing the heater in the future once it's no longer viable. I had two two issues--both electoral. One, the Guest House a/c was not working. Two, my Uline Outdoor ice maker was also not making ice. And with summer almost here, this was unacceptable. Called AdamEck HVAC. A young man came out and quickly diagnosed the problem with the air conditioner. Its compressor was gone. He recommended a solution--expensive but a solution. Replace the a/c unit with a Carrier or something similar. Too expensive. Next alternative--replace the compressor. $3K almost out the door. Waiting for unit arrival to replace. Second, the outdoor Icemaker was diagnosed with a bad relay which he will order and will be here in about three or so days, subject to availability. Dan, the repairman, was professional, clear and concise in his diagnoses and his explanation thereof, and discussed alternatives with me. I could not have been happier with the service. Our local HVAC maintenance technician strongly recommended AdamEck based on Adam's knowledge, competence and customer service. In addition to assessing the current system, Adam made a number of helpful recommendations regarding smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and air filters. My furnace stopped working suddenly and Adam was very quick to diagnose the problem (a broken igniter) and replace it. He also noticed a broken plastic connector and glued it back. These people helped me out when I needed a new HVAC system. They were able to come right before they came home and looked at my super old furnace, which the blower was not working, and had me fire it up so they can see it late into the night. They gave me a quote and while I had them match another quote I got from a competitor, they came and did the job right away. They were on top and courteous, and they do honest and good work. When they realized that my return air was not sealed, they let me know. They walked me through the process of what was required to pass inspection and I felt that at every step of the way I was prepared. Best of all, you can text him and he will get back to you! Our AC went out during the recent heat wave and we called Adam after being referred by some other local people who had been really happy with his service. He was, understandably, very busy and was very honest about the additional cost of coming after hours. We decided to wait and called back yesterday and made an appointment for today. Kim called today to let me know he was running a little bit late and, as it turned out, he was less than 15 minutes outside our original quoted window. That's how you run a business. Other companies may have just shown up late, after all, it wasn't very late, but I was aware an hour ahead of time that he may be slightly late. Wow. The AC needed a new capacitor which was a quick fix and then it also needed one other repair to get the compressor to actually kick on as well. For a very reasonable price, our 22 year old AC lives to cool another day. Adam was professional, honest, fast, and friendly! I think Adam might be Batman... Our ancient air conditioner went out on Friday night, of course, and during the 100 degree plus heat wave. I sent out the bat-signal, ok.. an email and Adam was at our door the next morning. He had us back up and running after in no time and is getting us though this weird, abnormally hot August. After the excellent next-day service he provided with our furnace last Fall and now this, he's the first call if we're having a problem. Where do I start? Well, let me say this.. I had a question regarding my A/C unit, I sent a message via Yelp after 10pm last week and he responded w/in minutes. Secondly, I called the next morning with my question and a small introduction, Adam did not hesitate to try to help me.. His schedule was a little full but tried to assist me over the phone and tried to fit me in. HOWEVER, the soonest appointment was today. My appointment was at 8am, he arrived 7:48am.... Our air conditioning crapped out at our weekend house in St. Helena during August - not a great situation. I called AdamEck HVAC and they made some time for us within a day. Adam showed up 40 minutes early and quickly made a diagnosis that the fan motor had failed. After first checking on the part availability he warned that it might take a week to get it. He called back the next day and said he could get the part within 24hrs. I saw the FedEx boxes so he clearly rushed the delivery but he stuck with his original very fair estimated price.
