Tech came out quickly which I appreciated, but the experience left a lot to be desired. Was quoted $45 for the service call upfront, but ended up being charged $840 total -- $640 for a part that runs $200-$250 at wholesale, plus $200+ labor for a 30-minute job. The tech also asked for cash, which felt odd. When I pushed back on the diagnostic credit, the numbers didn't add up. To their credit, the company responded and offered a $50-60 credit, but given three other companies quoted the same repair at $450-$650 all-in, it's hard not to feel overcharged. We called on EHC because of lack of air flow into one of our rooms. Noel arrived on time, did some testing, took some pictures and recommended that we either replace all the ducting (Nooo!) or try a work-around, a dedicated duct for this room. We chose the second option. He came back a few days later (again on time), showed me exactly what he was going to do, disappeared into the attic again and voila! We had air flow into the room. So this was a great experience but with a bonus: I asked Noel if he would drop a couple of treats into our nervous dog's crate to calm her down. It worked, our dog relaxed, we were able to let her out, and she and Noel became fast friends. That is above-and-beyond service! We will definitely use EHC again in the future. read more

During this recent heatwave, I turned on the A/C around 4PM but the inside temperature continued to climb. I reached out to several HVAC I found on Yelp and not surprised most were unavailable. I saw the glowing reviews. I called the company to see if they were available. Eros picked up the call and said he could be on site today. He also gave a great price for a pilot tube replacement. My gas was turned off because it was leaking badly. He stopped by 30 minutes after the call, and was nice and friendly throughout the process. He fixed everything and left within an hour. I called PG&E to get my Hazard label revoked from the previous gas leak. Someone arrived and inspected the new pilot tube Eros added. It was then approved after being thoroughly tested. Noel listened, considered my comments, and responded with knowledgeable explanations. I was also pleased and loved to be able to speak with a "live person" each time I called them. I was not placed on hold forever or have to deal with an "AI" assistant who never answers the questions I have, as happens, when I engage with other companies. Caution, I believe "AI" is useful. However, if "AI" is incorporated, provide answers for a wide variety of circumstances. Otherwise, "request for representative" ("live person") should be offered almost immediately. This company was recommended by a friend and colleague that is in the real estate game. Was the best recommendation I could have received!!! He took photos of rusted out housing, and explained fabrication of new housing, costs and time it would take to get the part being manufactured up here from San Jose. Our AC unit stopped blowing cold air in the midst of a heatwave hitting this week, so combined with our low heat tolerance + having a 3 year old who barely gets thru the night as-is, this was something we wanted fixed ASAP. EHC was superb from beginning to end. I reached out to over 20 HVAC companies via Yelp, and immediately communicated with business owner Eros. I was seeking an evening-only appointment due to having traditional work hours outside my house. Eros initially said that there isn't an opening, but would keep me updated if there is availability. I figured the chance of a slot opening is slim, so I moved on to communicating with other companies. Amazingly, a few hours later, Eros stated there was actually a same-day availability! My issue was that my Nest thermostat was showing, "No power to Rh cable." After I agreed to a same-day appointment, I decided that perhaps the issue is as simple as the Nest thermostat itself failing. Thus, I went to order a new one and had to reschedule. Eros was very flexible and understanding, and I felt bad for changing the appointment on him. When a new Nest thermostat didn't fix the issue, I scheduled next-day service, and technician Noel visited my house last night. He was very clear in explaining what he was doing, patiently educating me on the parts of my furnace, and giving me tips on what I can do to maintain my furnace in tip-top condition. He was able to thoroughly fix the problem - a blown fuse due to the previous homeowners installing a fuse that is under-rated for its job - and made sure nothing else was wrong with the furnace. $80 for the service call that can apply towards the repair is reasonable, and the overall bill was $320 plus the $40 tips I gave to Noel for his excellent service. I'll definitely use EHC's services again in the future, although I definitely hope my furnace and HVAC won't have any issues for a very, very long time. read more
