My air conditioning, died during the hottest days in Marin! In checking out the ratings here on Yelp, Red Mountain, seemed like the best! Great on the phone and gave me a following day,10AM appointment, which makes sense, I called at 3PM. Their service professional arrived equipped and on time. He charged my system, which was super low in freon. Then did a full inspection, of the entire system, taking temperature reading of all the output vents, in the home. He wasn't rushing, took his time to do everything correctly. It stayed within the price, quoted over the phone (I did give them a heads up, I thought it needed a freon charge). Did not try to sell me more than I needed. read more

Please do not use Red Mountain Heating and Air. They installed an AC/Heating unit June 2025. The AC has NEVER worked. Osvin has been here more than 6 times since June 2025, each time telling us it was a different problem, never fixing anything. I have countless text messages to Osvin and his wife Clarisa showing them the thermostat continuing to go up as opposed to cooling the house. This past March we paid for a second and third opinion from 2 different companies. Both told us the same thing; poor installation, faulty AC unit and recommended we get our money back. We paid 16,500 for the AC and heater. Via text conversation last month, Osvin offered us a 9500.00 refund but would take both the new AC and heater. This would have left us without a heater; the one we had previously worked perfectly. This was not acceptable so we will be going to court. On June 18, I received a text message from Red Mountain, Clarisa stating "Ok, do it. Anyways our 1 year labor warranty ends and reviews don't affect us. We have been in Court many times for years." Osvin and his crew took extremely good care of us. The job was to replace all of the flexible heating ducts in our subfloor and in our attic. They not only did a professional and careful installation of top quality materials, they also improved existing rigid duct work with insulation, and upgraded certain areas with new significant rigid ductwork and connectors and no additional cost. They basically did the work that was contracted, and went over and above to make other parts of the system better. Just thrilled to be comfortable in our home!!! Review for Red Mountain Heating and Air Installed Service date: May 2025 We are very impressed with their service, selection, and installation of the mini split heat pump. The install was painless and they cleaned up! Our home has open beam ceilings that do not reflect the heat from the sun in summer or provide insulation in the winter. We researched all possible solutions and a heat pump would service our needs. Our ranch style home has an addition to the master bedroom and the heating ducts never provided the heat we needed. We do not use our heater when we sleep. We contact Osvin at Red Mountain and his wife, set up an appointment and they went to work to find us a ductless mini split heat pump. The unit is an Energy Star Certified, SEER rating of 22.5 with the new pre-charged R454B refrigerant. Unfortunately for Red Mountain my brother in law is a HVAC tech. I asked them to come out and repair my unit, they did nothing to diagnose the unit or repair it. They stuck an electrical meter/tester on the line where the power goes into the unit and told me see there's power and the unit isn't on. I said I am aware of that please repair it they said the fluid is impossible to buy which wasn't true either. They then quoted me $8500 to replace an air conditioner that didn't include a heater. I said excuse me you are charging me $5500-6000 in labor for one day of labor? Not to be trusted I wanted to warn others as this was a $160 in parts a few hours of work. To be very clear to the owner response: I specifically asked multiple times to repair it NOT replace it, you refused to even check it and told me you can't get the fluid anymore. None of that was true and frankly I have done many remodels as an investor and knew what you were trying to do. No one should have to pay almost $9000 for a repairable unit. read more

This was a very complicated project and because of their dedication to detail and expertise, we now have up and running two state of the art HVAC systems that include Heat Pumps. One is a dual fuel unit and the other is all electric, and is called an Air Handler system. They perform better than I imagined. The heating and cooling happens quickly and all the zoning options are maximizing energy efficiency. After the compressor failed in my current AC full home HVAC system, I was faced with the option to try to squeeze more life out of my existing system by repairing the broken component or modernize. After a lot of research, pro/con analysis, and number crunching, I figured I'd go with the modernization route that would improve energy efficiency, run cleaner, provide dual zone controls (upstairs/downstairs), and operate significantly quieter (particularly outside where the spilt unit is right next to our patio). The cost difference to modernize was between 6x-8x the cost to repair the existing system (!), so I had to make sure I picked the right vendor... For such a big project, I reached out to multiple vendors for quotes and system recommendations. Red Mountain was not only the most responsive throughout the whole process, but had the best pricing by 5%-20% of other quotes for similar systems. Orvin was quick to come on site, meet in person, answer my dumb questions, and build my trust throughout the process. Once I selected Red Mountain to acquire and install the Bryant dual-zone, variable speed, high-efficiency heat pump system, they had it installed and fully operational within a week! Orvin and his team walked through the house and helped evaluate where to optimize thermostat positions for the dual zone set up and planned the best way to set everything up. And now a few weeks later, I am so pleased with the equipment selection as well as Red Mountain's installation quality. Everything has worked flawlessly since day one, with the home much more comfortable at all times of the day (upstairs and down, still getting used to this) and the outside unit operating essentially silently compared to the previous single-speed system. I've also managed to integrate the thermostats with my HomeKit system using Home Bridge and Bryant's new and pretty good API! One more thing about Red Mountain worth calling out: their back office team was super well organized with scheduling, permitting, billing, and even helping with acquiring the maximum rebates that I am eligible for given the installed system (several thousand dollars worth). The only thing I would ding them on was not doing a great job cleaning up the worksite when done, but that is super minor all things considered and is something they can easily improve... It was a pleasure working with Red Mountain as they are one of those rare family-owned businesses that really care about doing a great job at what they do! Call me Crazy! This company is phenomenal, even epic! Their honesty and integrity is beyond any other vendor that I've hired. For example, they came to my home after another vendor had said that i had a furnace crack. Osvin proved there is no furnace crack. I really like the "no pressure" sales tactic, open communication and work ethic. They went above and beyond with breaking up the cement pad which was too small, scheduled the inspection quickly and they were here to meet the inspector. This vendor is for you! I would like to recant my previous review of Red Mountain Heating and Air. We were extremely stressed on Monday morning due to the house being occupied by AirBnB guests since Thursday without heat. (one recuperating from surgery to tp it off) We had another company scheduled for Friday, who then rescheduled for Sunday, and then never showed up. Due to Osvin's quick Sunday night response to setting up an appointment for Monday morning, we cancelled other appointments made on Monday morning thinking Red Mountain would troubleshoot the heater and provide an assessment for repair, or a reason why it needed to be replaced. My partner and I are in and near construction for our businesses, so we were admittedly shocked that Osvin did not appear to perform the typical troubleshooting exercise we had expected and very quickly stated that the unit needed to be replaced. The following day, we had 2 other companies lined up and the first one performed the troubleshooting we expected, which was the following: * Turned on the unit and checked for operation. * Found that the fuel wasn't reaching the combustion chamber. * Tested limit switches (safety switches that break the connection to the gas valve if the combustion chamber gets too hot or the exhaust fan is not running) to make sure they were good. * Checked the burner orifices. * Ran a fiber optic camera into the combustion chambers to check for cracks in the wall. This is when they determined the unit could not be fixed. * This process took from 1.25 hours, which we happily paid for, when the tech told us there was a crack in the combustion chamber, and it did in fact need to be replaced. Osvin arrived at 11:20 and left by 11:38. He was correct that we needed a replacement, but he determined this based on the age of the furnace. Unfortunately, after seeing the repair van leaving the property so fast, the guests packed their bags and "checked out" 2 days early requesting a full refund (which they got) . Once we were certain that we needed a replacement, we did ask that Red Mountain provide a proposal. After my previous review, Osvin was naturally reluctant to work with us but did provide 2 proposals. Although we did end up with another company to do the work, their pricing was lower than the competitors, turned the price around quickly and offered to rearrange their schedule to start the replacement the next day.
