In search of local iconic lattes so we won't have to go continue driving to the north side of Chicago- we visited Addis for our 2nd visit, and sadly there will not be a 3rd. 1st time visit the waffle machine was out, and we waited 15 minutes before we were told. One woman next to us informed the staff to give her lattes to someone else because she waited too long and had to leave. We attempted a 2nd visit today, wasn't as busy as the 1st visit, they seemed fully staffed & we still waited 25 minutes for two 12oz lattes to go that tasted like hot water with some flavoring added. Awfully disappointed. Staff seem highly disorganized and with plenty of heads behind the counter the wait time and service could be better. If you have any recommendations for outstanding lattes in the Berwyn and OP area. Please let me know. read more

"Addis Cafe" was formerly known as "206." When Yelp reported "206" as closed like six (6) months ago or so, I was sad and a bit upset because I thought this coffeeshop was doing well, and this area of Oak Park could use a quality, indie place like this. Well, "206," or I should say "Addis" has make a come back. The same friendly lady owner was still there. The menu remained the same, with an expansion on speciality/seasonal drinks. I recalled that they served delicious cornmeal waffles. Of course I wouldn't miss the opportunity to try one of their waffle varieties. I had the cayenne mocha, and I chose to pair it with cinnamon waffles. That was absolutely the winter wonderland duo. The space isn't large. I shared the same table with the gentleman sitting diagonally across. There are about four (4) or five (5) tables, including a couch seating. Service rendered by the lady owner was super personable and friendly. "Addis" is located one (1) block north of the CTA Oak Park Blue Line station, so I know I will coming here as often as I can whenever I'm hanging out in Oak Park. read more

This is a quaint functional and quiet place to work solitarily, eat, and sip a great cup of coffee or tea. When I asked for a chai latte, I was confronted with the question, "sweet, spicy, or both?" I was pleasantly surprised with the ability to chose, then proceeded to enjoy a great (spicy!, with a subtle sweetness from cinnamon and milk) chai. It is a great place with a friendly atmosphere. Ordered Cinnamon Roll Waffle, it left a horrendous taste in my mouth, it's tangy and burnt. The cream cheese gives it a terrible after taste. The customer service and atmosphere were perfect. the coffee was not good. the espresso tasted very bad. it was super water. it tasted like water was ran through the puck multiple times. I got the honey vanilla ice latte with half sweetness and it was still way too sweet and the coffee tasted bad. my husband ordered a iced latte but received a hot latte instead. we politely told them we ordered an ice latte and she just took the hot coffee and put it in an iced cup which made it taste even worse than i'm sure it already tasted. i liked the vibes in there but it just terrible coffee read more

I came with a cough and ordered my food. The owner heard me barking like Lassie. After about 30 minutes, she came over with a cup. She says, "Try this, it may help with that cough." I lived in Oak Park for almost 20 years and moved in 2020. Addis Cafe was always my favorite cafe. I was obsessed with the Ginger Turmeric tea and went frequently. The owner is such a sweetheart and so kind, thoughtful and personable! What a gem of a business she runs! I happened to be in Oak Park yesterday and finally went to the "new" location. The owner couldn't have been sweeter, remembered me and my drink and made me feel instantly welcome all over again. I miss Oak Park and I miss the Addis Cafe!!! If you are lucky enough to be in the area, don't miss it. The food is also really good, fresh, and delicious. I look forward to returning!!! read more

My quick go-to is normally Starbucks but I wanted to try something new so I stopped here while waiting for my kids in Sunday school down the street and wow was I impressed with their coffee! I tried the salted caramel latte and it was so good!! Shop is very small and menu is a little hard to look at (very high up and tight space at counter) but it is definitely worth getting a coffee from. Came back another time and also tried the scone with berry compote and that was very good as well. Definitely plan on stopping in for a coffee every time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Please clean the ceiling fan-- it is unpleasant to look at this really dirty white fan overhead. Server was very slow and I had to clean the dirty dishes off the table before we could sit, Not acceptable! There were empty tables but they had jackets draped over the chairs. For months I walked by this cafe and since I was going to neighbouring restaurants after work, it was always closed. So I went one Saturday and I have been kicking myself since. Salted caramel waffle. Mixed berry compote waffle. Spicy chai. Okay, these are the best waffles I've had and I've gone to countless breakfast restaurants and cafes worldwide where I've fallen in love with their waffles. The waffles aren't sugary, they're crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and they don't get cold immediately after arriving at the table. I requested to have my chai very spicy and I got my wish. The inside is quaint. There are 2 large tables, 2 small tables, one medium size table (2 small tables pushed together) and a sofa. Aside from the occasional mom who comes in with kids that run about the place, it's relatively calm. I shall return for a sampling of the savoury waffle and coffee. There are tons of coffee houses and cafes. Most are ok, but you would not go back again. Addis Cafe is a real authentic Ethiopian influenced cafe with wonderful pour over coffee, other drinks and the most yummy waffles ever. There is mismatched furniture and artwork on the walls. The whole vibe is cool and authentic, the wait staff are dilligent. There may be a wait, so just be cool and hang out. read more

I'm a self-proclaimed coffee "snob" and get frustrated with local coffee shops/cafes that do not use local beans, has limited pastries, and no healthy snacks. Addis Cafe, albeit new, had 1 pastry when I came by but about 5 waffle flavors to choose from for about $7/each which they would need to prepare so I didn't ask about them as I was in a hurry. Addis Cafe uses Kuma Coffee, which is brewed out of Seattle. I didn't not look at the beans to see when they were brewed though, so I can't speak to freshness. Oak Park is definitely struggling in the local coffee scene, so this is a general welcome addition. However, upon arrival, I did not hear any music and the vibe wasn't too welcoming. I may give it another try but I won't be hurrying over to give it another go. read more
