I was Very disappointed when I walked into this establishment for the first time today. I have heard the coffee was wonderful. It's not clean, staff Is all over the place and they took over 20min to have a gift certificate and A waffle ready. I love everything about Addis! They have the most delicious honey vanilla latte, sometimes I do the honey nutmeg. The scones are so yummy and large. Coffee (presented as a pour-over) is excellent and the waffles (their main food item) are fantastic. The only disappointment was the avocado toast, so I'll stick to waffles in the future. Menu is the same as the 206 with the same great quality. I had the cinnamon roll waffle and it was delish. Nice music in the background. Great tea selection in addition to the coffee. Free wifi which is absolutely mandatory for any business establishment LOL (in my opinion). Oak Park is a family community so it's nice to see business owners and their kids from time to time. That can be tricky at times because you never know how kiddos are going to act - Happy to hear that the owners are planning to add Ethiopian items to the menu in the future. Love this place. Easy to drive/walk right by. Located on S Oak Park Ave just north of the Eisenhower (Blue line). We'll work the stop for the morning commute. Recommends: espresso, honey vanilla latte and the tumeric latte. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Two large tables for groups several two seaters and a big comfy couch. What do you know about Addis Cafe? Did you know it is a owned and operated by a women of color? DId you know they have the most incredible coffee in Oak Park? Did YOU know it is one of the most comfortable places to work on your laptop- offering a little something called FREE WIFEY (aka wifi)? I come here at least three times a week, and if I could get my ass out of the house earlier it would be a hell of a lot more times. The smells when you first walk in are only the beginning of all the perks of this gem. The staff is always friendly, but professional, quick and incredibly talented at making delicious coffee drinks. My new favorite drink is the Atmit with honey, but I also enjoy their pour-over and their lattes when I need that extra sweet. They have in house scones made fresh daily, but some days you can also find yourself bellied up to a bowl of their amazing lentil soup. I treat my kids with waffles at least once a month, and I love biting into their Ethiopian egg sandwich or bagel with avocado. The art work is always changing, and I have no idea how they are able to locate so many talented artists, but if I made more than minimum wage I would consider buying several pieces of these art works. During the holidays I always scoop up a few of their handmade scarfs from Ethiopia. The colors and quality of these are the best gift for any mid-westerner. There is something special about this place, and you cannot quite describe it, but you feel at home when you are here. You feel like you belong to a community that supports small business again. I do not know how you have gone this long without checking this place out- but please do yourself a favor and stop in before 2PM any day of the week. You will not regret it. And, remember to grab a punch card when you place your first order- after 10 visits you are treated with a free drink. And, honestly, nothing tastes better than the sweet creamy reminder that you spend over $100 on coffee every month- I mean a free drink. read more

I like this cafe a lot. The coffee is very good and it's a mellow place to work (not crowded during the week at least, comfortable seating, good music). I wish it would stay open a little later. The salted caramel waffle at Addis Cafe melted my face with its unrelenting deliciousness, but that's only the beginning of the story. See, what happened was that my friend was supposed to pick me up at O'Hare early in the morning so we could make a long drive to a party being held outside the city, but he couldn't get there and so I was obliged to wait. But, wait where? Not at O'Hare, my friends! As fine an airport as there ever was, I knew I had at least three hours to kill and the Chicago streets beckoned. And, with no idea where to go at 5am in the morning, my friend suggested I take the train to Oak Park in search of a cafe (so as to keep us pointed in the right direction of our road trip when he finally came round). Once I stepped off at the designated stop and made my way up the ramp, the ticket agent directed me to the Addis Cafe. And, that's where the magic happened. First, I noticed right away that they were selling Seattle grounds and a waffle called "The 206." A coincidence? Pshaw! What are the odds? Sure enough, after chatting with the owner it was revealed that the previous owner was a Seattle native, and that the new establishment borrowed a bit from the past cafe, which I believe was called The 206. Now, here I am, all the way from Seattle, sitting in a cafe that tips its hat to Seattle. It was like it was meant to be. Then, I had the waffle. Holy @#$%!%. Go to Addis Cafe. Get a waffle, and feel righteously blessed that you don't have to travel all the way to Seattle to enjoy it. You lucky devils. read more

This place is super cool. I love how hipster their latte presentations are (served in ball jars with handles). I didn't get any food but I have to say their waffles looked and smelled amazing. It was an exciting moment for my brother when he realized their mochas are vegan (AND they have almond milk!) so he could actually get one. He loves those but hasn't been able to have one in a while. My latte was yummy and they didn't seem to mind my toddler going through a throw everything on the floor phase, so I'd call them pretty family friendly too. Bathrooms were clean as well.
