The restaurant is a nice set up with great seating and soft sounds. Service was speedy and the servers checked on us and refilled our waters frequently. It was hard to decide on what I wanted so I got both doro tibs and doro wat. Both are chicken but different variations. Doro tibs were my favorite with the jalapeño spice in it. I will definitely be back

Great neighborhood place for very flavorful food. The family style platters are great sharing options and strongly recommend you save space for their affogato with Ethiopian coffee. The staff were sweet and helpful- answering all questions patiently. The music and scents gave the place a wonderful vibe.

Our server went above and beyond to make us feel like we were treasured guests. He went over menu options and gave recommendations to ensure we had a great dining experience. We ordered the sweet awaze chicken wings, fried red snapper, beef tibs, and lamb wot. This was my first time having Ethiopian food and I enjoyed it! The cooking could use a few tweaks - chicken wings needed salt and heat to balance the sweet honey. Snapper was a little over-fried,the beef tibs were beyond well done. The injira with red lentils was my favorite bite, and the cocktail was very nice. Overall I would go back and try some more dishes to enjoy the spice mixes.

We had reservations so we were seated quickly, the staff were warm and welcoming. Food came out quickly, and we enjoyed the family shared platter which was amazing. The place was small and quaint with dim lighting, Great for a date night or for families. I'd love to go back and try the fish. My only complaint is that it was cold and the table was a bit small for our meal selections.

Ive gone here a few times now and my 5 star rating remains. Went with my husband Friday evening and the service was slower than previous visits but our server Blaze was attentive and apologetic. My husband and I split the family platter with ribeye, whole snapper, shrimp, salad and veggies! The salad is the simplest yet most delicious salad. I'd go back for the salad alone. And the fish is consistently well seasoned and fried to perfection. If youre debating checking this place out, just do it!

    Awesome mural on the building!

Great find! Exceptional service from greeting to departure! The server was gracious and knowledgeable of all the Ethiopian dishes! Patient and kind for all of us who were not as familiar with the fare. The ambiance was intimate and inviting! The food was delicious and well prepared! A must visit when in NOLA!

Addis Nola is a beautiful restaurant, the atmosphere feels very on-theme! Ambient lighting, cozy, comfortable vibes. There's not a ton of African restaurants in our town, so this is a welcome addition to an up-and-coming neighborhood too. If you like fruity cocktails, I would recommend the coconut rum drink ($22). It's delicious! It has pineapple juice, coconut water, agave, and rum, all served in a freshly cut coconut! We like their sambusa ($10 for 2) as an appetizer. It's like a different version of a samosa. The outer crust is made with many layers of spring roll paper crispy fried. It comes with a sweet syrupy sauce. The choice of fillings we've tried are lentil and beef, which are both delicious! I personally really love the beef! It's seasoned really well. We also ordered the Doro Wat with chicken ($26), which is an Ethiopian stew. It's a fantastic flavorful stew that's very different from an American stew. It has a sort of sauce, but the dish served is not like a soup that you may expect of a stew. It is served on a platter instead of a bowl. The stew is cooked for such a long time that there are no distinguishable vegetables in it. It's all blended together into a phenomenal "sauce". It's also served with a tomato-based sauce on the side, which is very acidic. You can have this dish with either rice or injera, which are akin to rolled up thin pancakes. The injera are very soft, a little sour (from the fermentation) and flavorful on their own. My only complaint with the doro wat is that they skimp on the chicken. For $26, they could give us a little more of the actual 'stew' We also tried the vegetable combo meal ($22?) this time. I LOVED this one and it comes highly recommended! It was seemingly the most popular dish among diners that day too, every table seemed to have it! It comes with a few different lentils (green, yellow, orange). The orange lentils were savory, the yellow were a little sweet, and the green was fresh and herby. The green lentils were cold (on purpose!) and had such a refreshing taste, it was my favorite! This dish also comes with injera as well. I haven't tried a lot of Ethiopian food, so I'll have to come back to sample the rest of their menu!

Amazing food and ambiance was amazing. Perfect for family night out or date night. I particularly was looking for a place for the elimination diet and they were perfect option. I got the vegetarian plate with lentils, collard greens and beets. Amazing. The Injera is gluten free. Amazing spot. Highly recommend this spot. The waiter we had was very helpful and nice!

We had an amazing time at Addis Nola tonight. The food was excellent and the service equally matched. (Shout out to Blaze our Waiter). We had the whole fish, shrimp, ribeye, sweet potatoes, greens, and a few others. We will definitely be back. We loved the warm feeling and the vibe.

I really don't give five stars but boy does this place deserve it! I loved the ambience and the RnB music playing. I loved that you can wash your hands out in the open before you eat and our waiter was really nice as well! Order everything, you can't go wrong. I loved the lamb most of all and my Ethiopian martini!

Hey y'all! Ya Teedee was outside again and you might want to take a seat for this adventure ! From the moment you walk the brick paved streets til you walk out the door it's a whole vibe! The restaurant is situated on a quaint little street with shops and eateries in the 7th Ward. When you enter the restaurant it's like you're not even in New Orleans anymore. You feel the tribal culture from the artwork, the booths with hut canopies, and the tiki type light fixtures just made you feel in touch with the motherland! The hostess was such a sweetheart! Lean all the way in for this one, the waiter was absolutely the best in all of my restaurant touring days! Robert was so informative, knew that menu like it was the Bible, and was able to suggest menu items that fit our pallets! My mom doesn't like much spice, my nephew likes it all, I have shellfish allergies but l love trying new things! Honey you can take me to this restaurant anytime! The food was amazing, you could taste the love that was put into each dish! As the evening grew so did the customers, it went from a few people to almost every table filled. I definitely will be back and am excited to return for their brunch! Try them!

There can be a bit of a line outside, but they thoughtfully provide a covered area with fans for waiting guests. A quick tip: if the line extends past the awning, it gets hot quickly, so come prepared with sun protection. Despite the wait, the customer service here is top-tier. The staff runs a tight ship, keeping the line organized and seating guests efficiently as tables clear. The second you walk through the door, the aroma from the kitchen hits you and your appetite kicks into overdrive. We went all in on the classics: my wife had the 2-piece fried chicken with a side of mac and cheese, and I ordered the smothered pork chops paired with dirty rice and potato salad. The food quality is outstanding, with every bite tasting like a home-cooked meal. They offer rotating daily specials alongside their solid everyday menu, meaning every visit can offer a completely different, delicious experience. Highly recommend!

They immediately offered me the choice of outdoor seating or takeout, determined to make my visit work. When I first rolled up, there wasn't a line in sight. Three minutes later, the place was buzzing, with customers filling the restaurant and cars pulling into the parking lot. That's always a good sign. The two greeters were warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. I opted for takeout and ordered the soft-shell crab with potato salad and collard greens. About 15 minutes later, my meal was carefully packed and ready to go. Back at the hotel, it was time to dig in. The potato salad absolutely stole the show. Creamy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, it was easily the standout of an already delicious meal. The soft-shell crab and collard greens were hot, well seasoned, and equally satisfying. I'm usually not a fan of takeout packaging, but Lil Dizzy's got it right. Everything was packed securely with no leaks, and the food stayed warm all the way back to the hotel. Although I couldn't dine inside, my trip from the French Quarter to the 6th Ward was well worth it. Though pop-up showers were still lingering, my husband and I decided to take a gamble on courtyard dining--and I am so glad we did! Sheltered under the green umbrellas surrounded by historic brick walls, lush greenery, and rain-kissed citrus trees, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic and peaceful. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe). As for the entrées, the shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and the blackened catfish sandwich with a fresh salad was executed flawlessly...and the bread pudding was fantastic, too! It is rare to find an experience where top-tier hospitality, a breathtaking environment, and great food come together so (seemingly) effortlessly. Café Amélie is an absolute must-visit! The host was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our server and helpers were over quickly to drop off waters and greet us. I ended up ordered the salmon. With it being so early and only one or 2 other tables besides my friend and me, the food did take longer to come out than I expected it to. Both of us did thoroughly enjoy what we got. The salmon was crispy on the outside with a nice sauce over it. We thought we'd have time to get dessert so we ordered a couple but that too took a very long time. We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.
