The friendly hostess stated we could choose wherever would like to set. We arrived shortly after the opened. I was happy there were only a few patrons so I could take many pics!The Ethiopian decor is vibrant, spacious, and comfortable! Ive gone here a few times now and my 5 star rating remains. Went with my husband Friday evening and the service was slower than previous visits but our server Blaze was attentive and apologetic. Addis Nola is a beautiful restaurant, the atmosphere feels very on-theme! Ambient lighting, cozy, comfortable vibes. There's not a ton of African restaurants in our town, so this is a welcome addition to an up-and-coming neighborhood too. If you like fruity cocktails, I would recommend the coconut rum drink ($22). It's delicious! It has pineapple juice, coconut water, agave, and rum, all served in a freshly cut coconut! We like their sambusa ($10 for 2) as an appetizer. It's like a different version of a samosa. The outer crust is made with many layers of spring roll paper crispy fried. It comes with a sweet syrupy sauce. The choice of fillings we've tried are lentil and beef, which are both delicious! I personally really love the beef! It's seasoned really well. We also ordered the Doro Wat with chicken ($26), which is an Ethiopian stew. It's a fantastic flavorful stew that's very different from an American stew. It has a sort of sauce, but the dish served is not like a soup that you may expect of a stew. It is served on a platter instead of a bowl. The stew is cooked for such a long time that there are no distinguishable vegetables in it. It's all blended together into a phenomenal "sauce". It's also served with a tomato-based sauce on the side, which is very acidic. You can have this dish with either rice or injera, which are akin to rolled up thin pancakes. The injera are very soft, a little sour (from the fermentation) and flavorful on their own. My only complaint with the doro wat is that they skimp on the chicken. For $26, they could give us a little more of the actual 'stew' We also tried the vegetable combo meal ($22?) this time. I LOVED this one and it comes highly recommended! It was seemingly the most popular dish among diners that day too, every table seemed to have it! It comes with a few different lentils (green, yellow, orange). The orange lentils were savory, the yellow were a little sweet, and the green was fresh and herby. The green lentils were cold (on purpose!) and had such a refreshing taste, it was my favorite! This dish also comes with injera as well. I haven't tried a lot of Ethiopian food, so I'll have to come back to sample the rest of their menu! read more

You feel the tribal culture from the artwork, the booths with hut canopies, and the tiki type light fixtures just made you feel in touch with the motherland! The hostess was such a sweetheart! Robert was so informative, knew that menu like it was the Bible, and was able to suggest menu items that fit our pallets! I have eaten takeout from Addis for awhile, but 3 weeks ago was my first time visiting since they moved to Bayou Road. It was quite beautiful inside and the service was great! The food was great as has been my experience, but eating in with the shared platter, ringed with injera, was a totally different experience I haven't had since eating at an Ethiopian restaurant as a kid. The ability to blend flavors and the communal experience of sharing the platter with my friends really was special. This was a last meal with a friend who moved away the following week. I love love their egusi & fufu. I just wish the portion size was bigger for $21. I have gotten it multiple times and each time the amount of egusi has changed but the price is the same. First time it was small white containers and the fufu was white. Another time is was this container but half greens and half egusi. Nope - so a big mess having people at each table put things on small plates for the other table. As an appetizer we were given -get this- French fries. Not on the menu. Definitely not Ethiopian. Not hand made- like those frozen ones you can buy in the supermarket. And there was white rice in each tray. I have eaten Ethiopian food in many many cities and never been served rice. For starters, I ordered the lentil and collard greens sambusas. The lentil sambusa was just okay and the collard greens sambusa was not good at all; it had no flavor whatsoever. The sauce they came with was a very sweet sauce and it was cool. For my entree, I ordered the Veggie Combo with injera bread. The yellow split peas and red lentils were good, but the cabbage, collard greens and beets were just not good. I was really disappointed overall. I did also try the Fries; they were the second best thing I had. The Jollof rice tasted like nothing. The Mushroom Tibs was good. It was a really good flavor. I also feel like they don't give you enough food for the prices they are charging. Overall, I was really disappointed. Awful. Staying in a hotel as I am visiting from out of town and I ordered via Grub Hub. I waited an hour after receiving confirmation of my order, which is fine. I don't mind waiting. My poor Grub Hub driver waited at the restaurant for over 30 minutes. Grub Hub kept trying to call the restaurant and their phone is permanently set to "Busy." I tried calling 20 x and it was always three busy signals and then dropped call. It's like they set it that way to be left alone. It's not a normal busy signal. Grub Hub had to cancel the order. Addis Nola told the driver they're "too busy" to make it. Too busy? YOU ARE A RESTAURANT. It was only ONE Entree. If you can't do that than I'm afraid you need Gordon Ramsey to show you how to run a restaurant. Pathetic. Waited now for 90 minutes to eat and these people canceled. DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY FROM HERE. We stood at the front for the longest as people walked by us. We then walked up to the bar, the bartender never came to us, and this was Atleast 30 minutes of standing there. It wasn't busy at all. We asked for a table which we spoke to I'm assuming a busboy, asking could we sit here because we wanted food as it looked good on social media . He told us we could but if someone comes in and pays for the table we would need to get up, like how would that even make sense if I'm in the middle of eating?
