I have been here twice and have always had a great time! They bring in some funny comedians and ticket prices are very reasonable. The seating situation is a 1 star. The seats are so close together and uncomfortable! And it's very hard to see the stage from many of the seats in the back. Try to arrive early so you can at least pick the first seats at your table. There is also a two item minimum purchase which I am happy to pay because the tickets are not that expensive. The food is not good so I will stick to drinks in the future. We have been coming here for years and for the most part have had a great time. Some acts are better than others but I've got to say DL Hughley totally sucked! The guys before him were really good so not all was wasted. If you order beer, which they don't have the best selection of, then you will be okay but never expect to get a descent cocktail, they can't make a good one to save their life. Could this place be more unorganized? When we got there they said they were running an hour and a half late due to adding an additional show. It was cold and there was no place to really wait so there were people literally sitting in the hall waiting for this last minute show to finish up. Once inside our waiter informed us there was only 1 bartender so service would be slow which was an understatement. I couldn't even finish my second second drink before the show was over, I had to leave it there. The one star is specifically for Tom Green because he was awesome, everything else sucked. read more

Attended laugh out loud last night with my girlfriend. This is our first comedy club experience. It was fun! We had a few drinks and ordered the "date plate" all food was overpriced but that's to be expected and were surprisingly good. Waitress was on point with the service and gave us free tickets to another show. But I hear that happens often. Liked it, would definitely go back. Has a old theatre feel to it. read more

I'm so disappointed. I bring my hard working fellow friends out to have a good time for Spring Break. We were told that we were too loud twice. I'm no idiot, we were not loud. We were told that we could not laugh. Are you kidding me?! I'm BEYOND disappointed. They ruined my experience, as well as, my friends. The show was great, but with a ticket purchase you must buy 2 items minimum. I came with 2 friends and did not expect such a bad level of customer service in every single way possible. They don't serve tap water, you must buy a 4$ ozarka water bottle. The waitress was incompetent to say the least, zero respect and the behavior on the manager was embarrassing with no regard to customer service whatsoever. I ordered the Philadelphia cheese steak sandwich and after 2-3 bites it was too spicy for me. Waitress say we can't take it off the tab you ate half of it. I didn't finish it, and honestly did not want to make a fuss. The waitress said she can't take it off the tab and the manager that came after her did not either. Rude, disrespectful and ruined the show for me. Gave me a free drink but the money I spent there was not worth in the least. Never coming back. I was forced to pay 18% service charge included in the bill! When I asked the waitress she got the manager again when I asked her not to because they came 5 times to claim the bill while the performance was still going. They have good comedians come through, but I recommend getting the cheapest things possible for your two items: juice, soda, Ozarka bottled water. Get a beer if you want a drink. I got a Spiked Cherry Limeade here once: cherry vodka, grenadine, lime juice, pineapple, and club soda. How do you mess that up? It was undrinkable. I actually complained and they "fixed it" for me by adding more grenadine. It was still disgusting. Also they don't let you order free glasses of water, only bottles. Isn't that illegal? read more

This venue is awesome. Gives a classic vibe to comedy. The comedians they have perform are incredible. The only reason I gave this a 4 is because of the service of food and drinks. You have to order a minimum of 2 items each person to order tanyrhing at all. They automatically give a gratuity tip of 18%, which I don't mind at all but I would live to be able to decide on the tip depending on the service. The really difficult part is trying to eat or drink anything in the pitch black dark. They have a small candle on the table that doesn't really radiate light, just for decoration. I would recommend to brighten the tables up a bit so people can enjoy food and drinks with a great show. Overall great experience! read more

I was in town visiting and came to see JJ Williamson and I had a great time. The food and drinks were on point and all of the acts were hilarious . The only thing that sucked and why 3 instead of 5 stars..I spilled a full drink while trying to pay my waiter and asked for another but they said no because the bartender already closed the bar? What?? Its still a whole hour left though and even if its closed, why can't it be opened for one drink? I was willing to pay for it of course. That totally sucks after spending +100. Addison Improv was extremely accommodating for me and my friend and is definitely disability-friendly. We both have service dogs in training and I also use a walker to walk, as well. They made sure that we had enough room for the dogs and the waitress even put my walker in the corner for me and brought it back to me when the show was over. I thought that was really nice of her to do. The show was amazing and all of the comedians were absolutely hilarious. The only things I will complain about are that there's a $5 service charge on each ticket, but there's really no explanation as to why the charge is necessary. Also, the prices for the food in the showroom are pretty ridiculous. $4 for a bottle of Ozarka water is crazy. Lastly, the music they played in between shows was SO LOUD. However, I didn't take away any stars for those things because the employees at the venue made sure to accommodate us and were very respectful of us and our service dogs. Been here a couple of times so I thinks it's time to write a review. Just came here last weekend to see Piff the magic Dragon. One thing you have to understand is that it doesn't matter if you come early or not. Your seats selection is based on pure LUCK. and if you come in a party of two you will share tables with other people. The space WILL be very tight. And it might be a little awkward. And depending on where you sit you might not have a good view. The way the stage is position I feel that a lot of seats are not well position (Unlike other comedy clubs in Dallas.) Now on to the food- pLease do not come here with high expectations for that!!!! It is "bar food" Potatoes skins, fried wings, nachos that type of stuff. And the quickly is USUALLY below par. I am not sure if it's Bc they know that each person has a 2 item minimum. So they just put out crappy food. Anyway if you are hungry, I suggest going to a real restaurant before coming here. Service from staff will also be based on pure LUCK. Sometimes you get lucky ..... Other times .... Well you know...... The Improv offers some good comedy, but not much else. They can book some good talent, I'll give them that, but I think the only reason people keep coming back is that there aren't many choices in DFW to see good comedy. I went last week to see my friend headline, and I was somewhat disgusted with the service. I came with three friends, and we asked for separate checks. The waiter looked like we just asked him for his kidney. He finally agreed, but then combined two of them anyway at the end of the night. We all ordered food and drinks, and I would have had another if he had come back to ask. He didn't. Oh, and when he did come back, he dropped our checks with gratuity included. I understand people need to make a living, but this always irritates me. Especially when I just paid for the show, a crappy beer, and crappy food. You're forcing me to pay for crappy service too? I mean, I still left a dollar or so on top of the forced gratuity, because I know times are tough. However, the principle of auto-gratuity just irks me. Also, throughout the show some people in the kitchen or server station were clanging stuff around and talking loudly. This, along with some piped-in music that was never fully turned off, was driving me crazy. It seemed disrespectful towards the performers. As a venue, it's crowded, hard to understand where to go and what to do when you get there, and overall it's just not well organized. - I went here for a comedy show on Saturday night. I had paid the extra $10 per ticket for "VIP" access. All that means is that instead of standing outside in a line, you stand INside in a line. And, you get seated right up front, which is the absolutely most awkward place to sit during live comedy. NO ONE wants to sit right up next to the comedian. I had no idea we had assigned tables when I bought the ticket, and when I asked if we could be moved from our table which was 10 feet from the stage, the host mumbled something about how they don't do that, it's all assigned seating, etc. - When we first showed up, there was a line outside. Out the BACK of the place. No signs, no nothing letting you know that's where you're supposed to be. I went inside with my little printout from having bought the tickets online. I was told then to wait inside by the doors. It gets super crowded and awkward as people leave the previous show, while people are lined up behind you for your show. Eventually they yell you inside and haphazardly take your tickets and seat you. You'll be sharing a table with other strangers, which is also super awkward. There's a "two item" minimum, along with an automatic 18% gratuity for no reason whatsoever. What killed me is when I got the bill (during the show), there was a line item for an additional tip for the server! I think an automatic 18% is enough, pal. - The comedy show was OK. Couple really bad comedians follwed by a pretty good one. You're crammed in there, and it's overpriced, but aside from that, it was somewhat enjoyable. read more

The improv is getting worse and worse. After going to this place for years, I now officially hate this place. I understand the two purchase minimum per person...BUT, if you're going to overcharge me for drinks and food, why not make the drinks and food good?? They actually water down sodas.. SODAS!!!! My husband asked for a refill twice on his soda as they overload it with ice, and on the second refill the waiter says "You know these aren't free refills, right?"... WTF!!! You couldn't tell us that after the first refill? A bottle of water is $3.50... That's an entire case of water at a grocery store!! And NO, they won't give you a glass of water.. It has to be bottled so they can charge you for it!! The alcoholic drinks are god awful.. Weak and flavorless. The food is tasteless; nachos with barely any cheese or any other toppings, wings that were served room temperature and had watered down sauce. AND don't get me started on the service!!! Not only did our waiter not tell us about the refill charge, but we didn't get any silverware, straws, and napkins came much later than when got our food.. And our waiter smelled like Bologna and Must!Every time he came by I almost passed out from the fumes!!! All of this and they have the audacity to incorporate a service charge/gratuity in our bill??!!?! Saw Ralphie May here this weekend, and he was funny as could be! His wife opened for him, and between them, it was almost 2.5 hours of side-splittin fun! All seats are decent, but if you want to get up close, arrive early. But if you arrive early, you might as well eat, and just be warned that this ain't no fancy dining. Good old American dining menu is what it is. Now, we didn't dine, but it appeared tasty enough, and none of our tablemates complained (most tables hold 8 and you'll be seated with others either in the smoking or non-smoking section that you select). Drinks were very reasonable for somewhere that has a two item minimum (our bar-bill came to $33 for 5 stiff drinks, tip included). Entry is reasonable for big name comedians($14-$17). So I made it out the door on this date night for under $70. Throw in dinner and you'd be at $100--not bad for a night of food, drinks, and great laughs. We'll be back. read more

My only issue at this location was having to wait at the bottom of the stairs around the corner until the staff began seating. The show was on point. Rickey Smiley was the main act and he did not disappoint. He had everyone in tears laughing. Comedy, music.. It was one big party. The location was set up where everyone wasn't crammed on top of each other and the staff was much better than recent visits to the location. There is always an unruly person annoying the audience by being a part of the act so thankfully the manager stepped in and asked the person to keep it down. Great night out read more

I went here to see Paul Mooney, and I'm not a big fan of his really. But the comedians that came up before him were clearly drunk and high, which made the show even funnier. By the time the main act started, everyone in the club was tipsy, and drunk at the end of the night. There's a two drink minimum here. The club is extremely dark, with a single candle for each table. The only setback was the process of getting in the club. Our tickets were pre-purchased online, yet we still stood outside 15-20 mins waiting to go up the stairs in the back of the building. This could be due to a nationally known comedian being there that night, who knows? The waiters stayed out of the view, and I could tell they were immune to the hilarious jokes being told. A sidebar note, a drunk lady came into the mens bathroom trying to argue with her date after he left her at the table next to us rambling about nothing. They are quick to hush people who are holding conversations during the show also, which is good. read more

I used to love Addison improv until about 10 minutes ago... A guy named Kenny who was answering phones 11/14/2015 around 5:45 pm (management tip) I simply called to ask if the "free tickets" we got from when we showed up for an expensive show and the air conditioner was completely broken and it was over 90 degrees in the room would work for tonights show or if it was a special engagement night We wanted to buy tickets regardless if that would have worked or not... But I figured it was worth asking before buying online. I was on hold for 10 minutes and Mr. Kenny picks up the phone ready to help me. But as soon as I say the word "free ticket" he immediately interrupted me put me back on an infinite hold. After holding for a while I called back. This time Mr. Kenny answered again after my initial hold for a rep. I asked Kenny if he would let me finish my question this time or hang up on me. Kenny told me he would probably hang up on me. He then Explained the free tickets we were given. For a miserable experience were basically trash. And that the venue tonight is sold out and a special engagement but I can buy tickets online tomorrow. As if I was some sort of complete idiot for not knowing ahead these things before I called... Addison improv is always a good time. That's for sure. Not because the venue is great it kinda sucks really all around... But the comedians are why we go and probably will keep going.. I went to a free show here on a random Thursday once and it was OK. Eat before you get there because the food isn't that great. The drinks are STRONG, but they have a lot of fun drink options. The place is set up differently than other comedy clubs I've been to - so you might be sat at a large table with a bunch of strangers. They ask you if you want smoking or non, but I think it might just be so you aren't at a TABLE with smokers because I didn't see a defined smoking/non smoking section at all. It's in the same building as Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, so venturing to both places will make for a good night! Buy your tickets online for guaranteed/best seating. I've been to the Improv twice and enjoyed it both times! The first time was to see Eddie Griffin (who was completely hilarious!) on a two-for-one deal. My friend and I showed up right before the show was about to start and were still seated promptly and had a decent view-no complaints. We ordered a bottle of wine to split and potato skins as an app. Both cane out promptly and the potato skins were omg delish! For our meal we each ordered the tacos which were nothing really memorable but still pretty good. The opening act was very funny but when Eddie came out, that's when things REALLY got started. He was so so so funny I actually peed a little! And his aft was supposed to last an hour but he got drunk on stage and ended up performing for THREE AMD A HALF HOURS!!! omg bliss! It was great. The next time I went was a few months ago with my bf to see Bill Belamy. We got seated in front next to the stage which was awesome and ordered drinks. Sure they're a little pricy but man oh man were they strong! We had two drinks and three shots each and were feeling pretty nice before the show. We ordered food which helped to bring the biz down before Bill performed and we had a great time! Yes, this place is smaller but it gives more of an intimate feel as opposed to let's say, going to the AAC to see a comedian with 17394883 people and you're not even close to the comedian. Aesthetically more outdated than other Improv locations I've been to, but as a result, it does feel more like a real comedy house. Ticket prices are reasonable in my opinion. Food is typical bar food, but I have always liked their nachos with ground beef and their hot wings. Food is well priced.The customer service is really good. We went this weekend to see Monique, who is a very popular celebrity. I was surprised that she was at the Improv. So that says something good about this location. Seems like they have good lineups. The location is convenient. My one issue is the drinks. I didn't physically go to the bar or see the bartender. We ordered drinks through the waiter. The bartender was horrible. I tried 4 different drinks and all were absolutely terrible. How do you mess up a margarita, martini or a Long Island iced tea? They need to get the bartending together and then the experiences of patrons will be great. read more

I've only been here once and overall it was a good time and I would likely go back. That being said, I 100% agree that this place is entirely too cramped and crowded. I don't mind sharing a table with some "new friends". I *do* however, mind being tripped over the waitstaff along with anyone that needs to get up during the show. The servers were apologetic, but it really was a huge distraction and really made for an uncomfortable couple of hours. The service itself was fine and the 2 item minimum does include nonalcoholic beverages which i thought was interesting. The particular show we went to was great and I would definitely check it out if you're looking for something different to do. I think they should consider reducing the size of some of the tables to create some more space, but that's just me. read more

My first time here with my client and his hot girlfriend. We came here to see Raphie May. Great comedy!!! I give him 5-Stars. The food here are A-OK! I had the grilled salmon...too salty. The layout of this place is like a cafeteria, long rectangular tables with chairs that you share with others, and along the walls are 2 seats bar tables. You can't barely move, because they packed them too tight. Like sardine! Imagine if there was a fire! This place is actually located upstairs over other restaurants and businesses. Had a groupon deal so decided to try it out on a Saturday night. We showed up about 10 minutes early and were seated in an awkward area to the far left of the stage. Next time I would get there much earlier. The comedians were awesome--I was definitely in pain the next day from laughing so hard! I enjoyed one of the opening acts just as much as the main attraction. The downside? Food is overpriced and not good, and the room can be VERY crowded. Drinks are $$$! Be prepared to pay $6 for a bud light and $10 for almost anything else. My red wine was served chilled, which I was not a fan of. Also, the waiter added on a 20% gratuity without telling us, and in the dimly lit light we didn't see it on the receipt, so we tipped him on top of it. So we basically gave him a 40% tip for service that was definitely not extraordinary or even great. I would say come to the early show for some laughs and then go out elsewhere for drinks. read more

Here's the REAL lowdown! I just saw Ralphie May and it was awesome! Tips about the place: 1) While it does say to arrive an hour early, be three hours early for the best seating option, especially if you are there to see a comic you really like. 2) It is very cramped, so be ready to make friends with people you've never met! (The only reason they lost a star, was for the closeness of the tables.) 3) Don't be a show "crasher". I paid to see the comic, not you being drunk and wild like you were on "girls gone wild". Just sit down and enjoy the show! 4) Be sure to check your tab! We almost got charged for nachos that we didn't order! Other than that, we had GREAT service! Ralphie May was great!
