Cleverdale store was taken over a few years back and completely turned it around it's now friendly and clean unlike the old owners. The food is fresh and creative with some good specials every day. They carry a lot of staples you may need very close to the lake. Great job new ownership!!! read more

My sisters and I were staying at an AirBnb down the road and stopped by here for coffee and breakfast on our way out to hike. It's such a cute little spot with a great menu and seriously amazing coffee. I got the Jamaican Me Crazy coffee and it was soooooo good. I love me a homemade flavored coffee and this was perfect as a hot black coffee. The second time we stopped by I had the maple and pecan flavored one, and that was also amazing. The food was also a very good and fresh! I had the egg and cheese sandwich and that really hit the spot. My sisters orders the oatmeal and it was a huge bowl with some yummy toppings! If in the area I would definitely suggest stopping by here! read more

Holy cow! This was great! Egg sandwiches were awesome on fresh biscuits. I saw many complaints on prices in previous reviews but being from the NYC metro area there was not any sticker shock. More expensive than Hannaford, yes any different from a convenience store generally, no Staff was wonderful and very accommodating with our little guy. Recently the new owners have expanded to providing additional dining areas for those who may want a sandwich or other offering. Their food is good, albeit somewhat overpriced, which is to be expected, given that is the only game in town when you need something quick. They also have set up a bar on the premises, with evening music on occasion. They've done a good job and the experience is pleasant enough. The only problem I see is that the young man behind the counter is extremely slow in ringing up people . With no air conditioning in the store, waiting in line can become unbearable. The owners also have plans to turn the liquor store into a clothing and tchotchkes store, as if we cant get enough of them in Lake George! Hey, the liquor store at least served a purpose, even to those of us who only occasionally buy some wine or hard stuff. I'm predicting this will be a short lived disaster, but they will find out the hard way. There must be a story behind this somewhere. read more

horrible horrible service. we waited for 10 mins at the deli and another 10 mins as an employee cut our meat, there was no other customers in the store. there were employees standing around that definitely saw us waiting to be helped and employees were on their phones. while we were waiting for our meat an employee rudely told us to move out the way. extremely disappointed as this is our first time in the area. read more

It's incredible to see what a difference a change in management/ownership can make! The new owners of the Cleverdale store have done an incredible job taking what was the kind of place I would only go to if I absolutely had to, to a place I make a point of visiting as often as possible. I'm honestly a little worried about letting the secret out on how fantastic the store is now because it's already getting a lot of foot traffic. The breakfast menu is awesome and the food is great across the board. The difference in attitude between the old and new owners is night and day. This place is being run by hard-working, passionate people and their devotion to their business is evident in their food and service. It's so nice to finally have a place that "east-siders" can be proud of and enjoy! read more

Way better than expected! We were staying in the area and passed the Country Store a few times and made it a point to stop in and check it out. We went on a Sunday AM for coffee and to check the place out. Coffee was great, and the "general" store was well stocked! We came back for lunch, one custom deli sandwich and the other off the menu. Both were very delicious, we are spoiled with amazing deli's in NJ so this was a really nice and delicious surprise. Fresh and yummy! We would absolutely stop here again! read more

Saw the only review here for this store, and couldn't sit idly by while this awesome store's reputation was trashed by someone who completely misunderstands the place. Let me start out by saying yes; you will pay more for a sandwich than you will at Subway. That being said, the Cleverdale Store roasts their own cold cuts in house, and I swear, I have never had better roast beef in my life. They also pile it on heavy. A roast beef submarine there is about 8" long and costs $6.25, and I am telling you right now that it's worth every penny spent. Also, I don't know where the store gets their breads from, but it's some fresh bakery, and their hard rolls and sub rolls are delicious as well. Lastly, they travel to PA to pick up produce. You have not had watermelon until you try the Cleverdale Country Store's watermelon, diced and kept in the back coolers for sale. Their corn on the cob is always sweet and delicious. We skip picking up produce at the grocery stores when we go shopping because it's that much better at this country store. DON'T MISS TACO TUESDAY! Get in there on Tuesday and try the fajitas. Every Tuesday is a Mexican specials day for lunch. Lastly, I know the owner of this store. I can see how someone would misunderstand him because he's a pretty serious guy at work. But he's a good guy and you can get him to crack a smile from time to time. The rest of his family works with him at the store nearly every day, and they're all great people as well. I give this store a lot of credit. They are very unique in what they have to offer, and they go pretty far out of their way to do so. Most country stores just carry Boar's Head cold cuts and meats because it's the easy way to go. That's great and all, but when this store closes from November to April, roast beef just isn't the same. read more

I'll get a newspaper or coffee here, or maybe some gasoline for my lawnmower if I'm in a pinch - otherwise, I'm duty bound as a responsible consumer to avoid these opportunists. read more

What a huge disappointment. Been coming here for years. Yes, previous owner was not friendly but lots of fresh fruit, vegetables (including corn), baked goods. Now -- minimal baked goods, minimal veggies and fruit and no more shuck your own corn. No prices on much of the merchandise. Today we stopped by and they were out of lunch meat for sandwiches. We went to Beans which is a little further but lots more options. That will be our new local store. read more

I work in the Cleverdale area two days a week year round. When it's time for lunch I always have eat at the Cleverdale store. There chicken salad is to die for and the fried chicken is off the chart. They are a resort town business and have a very short season to make ends meet. Are their prices alittle high could be but not always. I have purchased the same items that they carry at some year round business not to far from them and they are higher than the Cleverdale store. If you don't want to pay for something that you may think is to high then set down and walk away. Until you have been in the small Mom and Pop business you have idea what items cost to resell. The Cleverdale Store is a family run business and has been for many years. I think their years in business says a lot about their quality and their service. I would recommend this great store to everyone. read more

This place is great! What more could you ask for...small, family-owned and operated business, local produce and almost everything else made in-house. I DARE you to find a better breakfast sandwich than the one made here. You won't. I don't know what magic they perform on the bacon, but man, if I'm a pig, I want to end up at the Cleverdale Country Store. The way that piled-high bacon melds together with the perfectly fried eggs and melty cheese atop the delicious hard roll...unbeatable. Sandwiches are all good and they're making their own roast beef and turkey...WHO ELSE IS DOING THAT? Then to set that off, do yourself a favor and get the broccoli salad. It's off the chain. And it has that magic bacon in it. Enough said. Wash that down with a Joe Tea, which has to be the best iced tea ever made, and you're good to go! Next time I'm in...I'm taking down one of those delicious-looking ice cream pies. read more
