It was busy, make an reservation, but it was a quick turnaround. We found this place by luck on our way up to Canada. The small area is very cute, but let me tell you about the food: it was good. The star of the show was the pie. I got the raspberry rhubarb , the salty flaky buttery crust is perfect (because I am having it for breakfast). The sweetness of the berries, tangyness of the rhubarb and salty flakiness of the crust.. amazing! I might be interested in picking up a whole pie when I return home. What a treat! My husband loved the rice pudding. My cousin got the French onion soup and she mentioned it was good and she loved how the baguette/bread had texture and feels the toast of the bread, not too salty.

Nice restaurant with a warm comfy feeling. Had a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Wasn't overly impressed. Meat was overcooked, dry and crispy in spots. Fries were hot and delicious. I was thinking of a Ruben.... Should have ordered that. Service was excellent. Speedy and efficient.

We loved it so much, we came back for another round! We discovered Pitkin's Restaurant during an impromptu stay in Schroon Lake to catch the nearby Ski Jumping World Cup. Located right in downtown on the main street, we found parking just outside the restaurant--even with a heavy snowfall overnight, the town's snow clearing game is strong. Both times we went for breakfast, we were seated immediately in a cozy booth, surrounded by small tables, chairs, and green booths. The walls are decorated with historical photos, perfectly complementing the intricate tin ceiling. The staff was friendly and attentive, and both times we had our meals in no time. As a self-proclaimed breakfast enthusiast, I couldn't resist their Hearty and Meat Lover's Breakfasts. The eggs were fluffy, the hash browns crispy, the bacon perfectly salty, and the pancakes were as pillowy as they come. I absolutely love hearty pancakes, though I can rarely finish them because they're so filling. This time, they were so good, I couldn't stop. Along with other breakfast specials like homemade corned beef hash, Bennys, and more, they also serve omelets, egg sandwiches, a variety of pancakes, French toast, and lighter options like oatmeal and granola. Perfect for any breakfast craving. Pitkin's draws in a diverse crowd--from locals who've cross-country skied in, to visitors like us and even international guests here for the competition. This place truly has something for everyone. We were thoroughly impressed with the food and overall experience. Highly recommend for breakfast. Now, I'm curious to try their lunch and dinner!

We stopped here for dinner on a Sunday night, and it's a local favorite. The place is clean and the staff were attentive. The food was decent. I had the boathouse sandwich. We shared the wedge salad. Oddly enough, the wedge part was all cut up. The blue cheese dressing was a little too tangy for me, it tasted like it was a yogurt based dressing. My lovely lady had the ribs. They were very tender and had a vinegar based sauce. They fell off the bone and were good. Her daughter opted for Curley fries. The roast beef was okay but the cheese, and onion on grilled sourdough was the best part. The star of the night was the dessert. She got the chocolate mousse pie and her dessert looked good, but the Peanutbutter pie was amazing!

My husband & I ordered takeout for breakfast. It was very easy to place an order online and it was ready to go when I came to pick it up. I ordered the ham, onions, peppers and cheese omelet. It came with hash browns and a choice of bread. The price was great and it came with a large portion size. It was not the best quality food as I would compare it to Dennys or IHop's omelets. But, for the price and convenience it tasted great.

This is incredibly delicious homemade food. The broccoli cheddar soup was really smooth. The reuben and club sandwiches were excellent. The potato salad is diced very small. The desserts are fantastic. Our server did everything right.

Having been on the road for vacation for a few days, my poor sensitive stomach was ready for a break. I talked to the server and she worked with the chef to find make my grilled chicken sandwich as low fat as possible. Prime rib was a bit too fatty but hubby ate as much as he could. The side salad was, as far as side salads go, one of the best I've had. I love carrot and there was a ton on this salad.

Paddle boarding after a good breakfast at Pitkin's

We went to Pitkin's for breakfast. The restaurant is very clean and bright. We chose to eat our breakfast in their outdoor area. Service was very good and our waitress was very friendly. The blueberry pancakes were very tasty and fluffy. My husband had the 2 egg breakfast with gluten free toast. We both enjoyed our meal before heading out to the lake to go paddle boarding.

Happy to be able to sit on the patio on this little vacation up to Lake Champlain. Figured might as well stop in town I haven't visited before on the way up north. Really good service with a smile and m quite fast considering it was pretty crowded for Thursday afternoon. Had a roasted turkey sandwich. The turkey was delicious. Not a ton of meat, but it hit the spot. And didn't really find the apples that were supposed to be on the sandwich. But it did pack a really flavorful bite. I'm a sucker for coleslaw and there's was really good. I don't love a pilsner but it's vacation! Would recommend this little joint.

We stopped for a Sunday breakfast and found this place to be a nice, simple, friendly restaurant! It was not busy at 11:00.

Absolutely mind blown…read more I have made numerous ski trips this way and always seen this place tucked away in the corner of my eye when approaching the intersection. No cell service so couldn't look up anything prior to entering. Lovely little diner, please remember to shut the door as you enter as it doesn't close. I made my way to the counter and started really looking at everything around the place. Personally could have kept all the political stuff out but I was here for food. Liked all the books off the side as well as the dinosaur toys. The message that is placed in front of you tell a good story, and they're not wrong one bit. Enjoy the company around you. I was blown away with the size of the blueberry pancake, and I was warned. Never have I taken a pancake to go because I didn't finish it. I had some corn beef hash too so that filled me up a bit, but this thing is massive! Definitely could've taken it down in my college days. I will have to come back to try and defeat it again. Anyways, I did enjoy my corn beef hash too, very potato driven. All and all, happy I finally popped in. Don't know when the next time I'll be back, but it is now on my radar of places to stop when ready for pancakes!

Our drive from CT to Quebec had us traveling through Vermont during lunch and on the lookout for a…read morespot that offers vegan food. We found the Hartland diner which satisfied both my vegan and my husband's non vegan palette. The diner is tiny and unique. The booths were packed a little before noon already so we sat at the stools at the counter. The decor is eclectic with a strong liberal edge. For example I sat next to a cardboard cut out of Bernie Sanders with a VOTE necklace adorning the neck of the cutout. The menu is thick with the first have offering meat and dairy options and the later half providing the same options just in vegan form. There are A LOT of options! And the portions are GENEROUS! I had the cornbread which I would have again and again. It was so satisfying and filled with real corn kernels to provide a real corn taste. I then had a breakfast burrito with tofu scramble, avocado and hash browns. The burrito was heavy handed with hash browns but it was a simple fix as I just removed what I didn't want. The burrito was filling and delicious. I also liked the coffee ( they only have whole or oat milk). My husband had one pancake which was gigantic! It was hanging off the plate! The maple syrup was light and not too sweet. He also had a breakfast taco with bacon, eggs and hash (which was again loaded with extra hash he had to remove). This was another filling dish. Overall the Homeland diner was a home run. From decor to food you will be delighted, amused, and quite satisfied! And if you like broadway show tunes you are in for a treat...
