1/26/2010 I had a very unsatisfactory experience with Adrian Flooring. I hired the company to replace carpet with wood flooring. It used nails which punctured my radiant heating. This damage cost me $3,200 to repair . The company never asked me if I had radiant heat and refused to accept responsibility for its mistake because there was a sentence buried in a long contract saying it was my responsibility to tell them if I had radiant heat. I never saw that sentence and the company never had the common sense to warn me. Not only did the company refuse to help me with this matter, it was hostile and argumentative. Between the house I live in and rental properties that I have rehabbed I have used them a total of 6 times. Their work was always great, but this last time I had them refinish my condo floor and while the finish work was beautiful, they splashed stain on my white kitchen cabinets. One other time they had redone a floor with white cabinets and the crew did a great job so I was surprised by the poor work. When I called and mentioned this Adrian went crazy on the phone and actually screamed at me! His son, Mike, was also very rude and when he came out to "fix" it, Mike's fix was to paint over the stain with the wrong color and finish of white paint. I was eventually able to fix it with the correct paint but will never use them again! I have never been treated so poorly by any contractor in my life and this treatment was to a repeat customer who had used them many times! read more

We had Adrian refinish our wood floooring on the main floor and upstairs landing. They also installed new carpeting on 2 stairways. I found them to be exacting and very professional. The pictures of the horrible job Adrian Flooring did speak a thousand words. Refer to my review of Adrian Flooring on Angie's list for photos. Adrian Flooring is very difficult to find on Angie's List and when you search for them a note will pop up stating that Adrian Flooring is "an unwilling participant" of Angie's list. Companies may not request to be removed from Angie's list, but obviously there's a reason Adrian Flooring doesn't want to be a part of it - it's because they have so many negative reviews. So, if you read the other negative reviews on Angie's List of Adrian Flooring you'll see that many of the reviewers ran into the exact same issues with this company as I did. The reason Adrian Flooring is difficult to find on Angie's List is because they are an "unwilling participant" of Angie's list and have therefore been removed from all keyword searches. No company can remove itself entirely from the site, but there's a VERY good reason why Adrian Flooring is an unwilling participant - check out all the negative reviews on Angie's List for Adrian Flooring - Citysearch as well. They're trying to make it more difficult for people to review them because they KNOW it's going to be negative. Even my contractor, who was also horrible and who sent Adrian Flooring to me, won't use Adrian Flooring anymore because they're so terrible. My contractor actually pulled them off of another job (I wish he'd pulled them off MY job) because they were doing such a bad job and they were so rude and unprofessional and the client fired them. So basically, they're even worse than my contractor which I didn't think was possible. The company's response alone is completely unprofessional and I'm happy it's here for everyone to read. The company's owner and his son are combative and completely unprofessional, which is also cited by other reviewers on Angie's List. See for yourself! read more

My encounter with Adrian flooring happened on the streets of river north in which their driver was driving recklessly through the city. He cut off several people and came close to some pedestrians. Hire some people that show some pride in their employer and drive the van with courtesy! read more

these guys are great. I've hired them 3 times. for wood floor refinishing, bathroom tile and a cork floor in my kitchen. After renovating the entire interior of my house I can easily say that they were the best people to work with. they are always on time and friendly but their best quality is that they just get stuff done without a hassle. before hiring them i hired hope depot and they were so disorganized and lazy that i fired them before they even started. ADRIAN FLOORING IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!!!!!!! We just had our floor done by them and it was such a pleasure dealing with them. They are a family business and are very good at customer service. Five men came to our home at 7:30 A.M. and didn't leave until 8:30 P.M. They were very professional and most of all NICE. Our floors are nothing short of gorgeous so I believe that the previous reviews are for a different Adrian Flooring, not this one. Please do not listen to the negative reviews!!! They could not be further from my experience. Adrian Flooring was recommended to us by a very respectable source. When I first read all the Yelp reviews, I was appalled at the negativity and very reluctant to contact them to sand and refinish all of our wood floors. Because we trusted our source so much, and at the urging of my husband, I decided to give them a chance. I called and spoke to Adrian, who is the owner. When he came out to give me an estimate, he took one look at the flooring our builder was about to install in our new addition and told me that it was a completely different wood species from what we currently have and that I should send it back. He was right! Before even hiring him he saved us a great deal of aggravation and disappointment. Adrian's estimate was very reasonable and the extra bonus was that he promised to move all of our furniture, so we decided to go with them. i called him with some questions a couple of times prior to starting the job; everyone I spoke to was courteous and professional, and my calls were returned promptly. When the job started, everything happened exactly as we had been promised. The crew was there for three days, on time every day and EXTREMELY clean and neat., Adrian laid out four stain samples and helped us select the one that would look best. Every morning he came by to supervise the crew, answer my questions, and ensure that everything was being done exactly as promised and to perfection! Our floors are magnificent and we could not be happier. I am not the easiest person to please, in fact I would call myself extremely picky. Adrian Flooring did NOT disappoint, Adrian knows his business inside and out and has passion for pleasing his customers. We hired Adrian flooring to do a large job in our new home. They ripped out old parquet flooring and carpet, leveled out floors on the main level of the home, placed new hardwood flooring (feathering it into some existing hardwood in the kitchen), and sanded/refinished existing hardwoods in the upstairs. We received a very reasonable quote and found Adrian and his son knowledgeable and very pleasant to work with. The crew was very respectful and did a fantastic job. By gently guiding and explaining the full process from demolition to new flooring we understood how each day was going to unravel. Attention to details were spot on. Stone installation was perfectly executed...beautiful, precise work. Hardwood floors were professionally installed. Color is exactly what I wanted. Transitions from room to room were very well done. I had a HORRIBLE experience with Adrian Flooring. They measured incorrectly for my basement vinyl flooring and brought the wrong thresholds to install -- then blamed ME for their mistakes (quite rudely, I might add). I agreed to pay the additional $150 for the extra materials they needed to complete the project -- then they billed me for $450 instead of $150!!! They also ruined my rubber gym flooring by letting it sit uncovered during construction so it became embedded with dust -- then refused to steam clean it until I withheld final payment. I have never dealt with a more rude and unprofessional business in my life. My interior designer witnessed their rudeness as well, and even scolded them for the way they talked to me. STAY AWAY FROM THEM! They did an adequate job and are okay to deal with if everything goes as planned, but when they make mistakes they blame the customer and all they care about is getting paid. read more

Adrian Flooring is an excellent floor refinishing company to work with. They have done several jobs for me including carpet removal and restoration of the underlying floors. Unlike most firms, they will move the furniture very carefully and then move it back in after adding pads to the feet to avoid scratches. Most firms will not do this and the homeowner has to do it on their own. When I have any flooring need, I always call Adrian. read more

I have worked with Adrian Flooring for three years. And I am a very satisfied customer. Adrian personally comes to our home for measurements. When my contractor removed radiators, Adrian Flooring repaired the hardwood floor beautifully. They also installed a cork floor for my kitchen which has been a highlight in our kitchen renovation. They have also carpeted a stairway and prepared three large area rugs. I'm frustrated to see only negative reviews on Yelp! We had a wonderful experience with Adrian Flooring. They were recommended to us by a friend that used Adrian and she had rave reviews. We did interview 5 companies from Angie's List and barring 1 other company. The other companies came in took measurements scoffed at the existing conditions saying it wouldn't look perfect when they were done - not very sales like. Adrian was the most attentive and caring. He spent a lot of time with us going over details in depth. He did 10 custom color swatches for me, replaced all of our floor vents with wood vents. Did a great job removing and replacing the trim with care. Our project was a little tricky as we had to replace 1/3 of the existing floor to match up with rest. They had to replace part of the floor, sand all of the floor and stain/finish as well as the sand/stain the stair case tread. When we opened up the floor there was little to any substrate. Some companies would have gouged for having to replace and level the substrate (100 yr old house), his pricing was very good & they did a great job. They placed heavy duty pads on the bottom of all of our furniture, moved everything in and out. Took very good care. I did look at these Yelp reviews prior to selecting Adrian, and was concerned as they are not good. We called on all of his references, which were all good. The end result, the floors look amazing!! They did a fabulous job. They even finished early, which was great as we elected to move out during most of the process, this gave us time to get back in and clean. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5, is that I think they could have done a little better job on protecting vents / fixtures / basement from the dust. At the end of the day I appreciate the dust will go everywhere no matter how hard you try to cover things. The most important thing is how the floors look and the look great. We have been in the house for 11 years it's impossible to tell where the tear out was as it meets the floor we left intact seamlessly. Color and finish is perfect as well. I am sorry some of the other folks who have posted had a bad experience. I suppose its like anything though - you are more apt to post a review when you have had a bad experience - understandably so. Ours on the other hand was not - I would use Adrian Flooring again. read more

Adrian Flooring just completed work on our house, and we are extremely satisfied. The work included replacement of carpet with hardwood as well as re-finishing existing hardwood on the same house level. Additionally, Adrian installed porcelain tile in our laundry room. At the start of the procedure, a clear statement of work and contract were provided to us with open and honest communication of what we would/could expect. Adrian also made suggestions on items that we never would have considered. The lumber was delivered on the day promised, and the work was started on the day promised. We were skeptical of the "dustless" claim, but we were amazed at the lack of dust created by the work. The team carefully wrapped and taped all things that could be impacted by the minor amount of dust to include the furnace intakes that were covered with breathable fabric. They even took care to avoid covering the vent area of our refrigerator to avoid overheating (and loss of a refrigerator we experienced with another contractor). They ended each day with a thorough clean-up of tools, dust, and raw materials. The team was led by a person who was obviously very experienced and dedicated to quality work. The team showed up each morning when they said they would (7:15) and left at the time they had promised each evening. The job was completed in the five days that were originally promised. The finish is beautiful; the meshing of the old floor with the new is unrecognizable; and the detail work around the floor vents and floor molding was exceptional. I would recommend Adrian Flooring to anyone interested in a professional, detail-oriented, reliable contractor for floor installation. read more
