I usually go to DuPont circle for my Brazilian wax, but after starting a new job did not have time to commute that far. After working 6 days in a row of 12+ hour days, I decided to try out this location for it's convenience. As I undressed to prepare for my wax, Sushila made a comment about how it had been a "long time" since my last wax, hadn't it? I was paying for a service yet felt embarrassed almost instantly after stepping into the room. Regardless of the time lapse between my waxes, my preferred waxer at DuPont would NEVER have said such a disrespectful and demeaning thing. The remainder of the service was incredibly uncomfortable for me, and on top of that Sushila did not provide a good quality wax. I hope nobody else had a similar experience as it really ruined my week.

I only ever do simple cuts, nothing fancy. My haircut, done by Anderson (a level 3 stylist), is objectively good. The skill was there. But it's definitely shorter than I wanted it. Went in for a lob, came out with an asymmetrical bob...Honestly I was panicking while he was drying it because it was starting to look like Lord Farquaad from Shrek. I asked if he could style it like in the reference pictures I showed (simple waves, to reduce Farquaad-ness). He tried to do it with the brush/dryer, which obviously wasn't working, and didn't want to use a flatiron. So I just suffered through scalding heat on my scalp and hair pulling. I got told I don't have curly hair. I got told I don't have frizzy hair. I, in fact, have both of those. Some other minor things: 1. When I got home I had some hair that was noticeably longer than the rest, like it never got cut. So...I had to do it. Just a few strands, but normally stylists check for that when your hair is dry. 2. I almost never use heat on my hair, so I asked for recs and mentioned a specific brand doesn't work for me. He immediately said he loves that brand. I said yeah...but it doesn't work for me. Anything else? "Any salon brand." Cool. Not helpful. 3. Asked for something at the end to tame the pieces that were sticking out (again, I have frizzy hair). He looked...confused? Smoothing as a last step has been standard at every other place I've been to. There is nothing in the whole salon like that? Also, my introvert-self just wants to go somewhere where I don't have to be engaged in conversation the whole time. Anyway. Won't go back, my hunt continues.

A lot has…read morebeen going on in my life, but I wanted to get rid of some of the drafts started on Yelp...along with photos.* My wife had wanted to get her eyebrows done, but many of the place we saw were just to high in price, or not to my wife's liking. We found this place and decided to try it out. I noticed that the technician used the string in her mouth. Other places I have visited no longer keep string in their mouths, but around their necks. Nevertheless, while watching my wife get her eyebrows done, the female technician worked fast and efficiently. The shop wasn't very busy, so we didn't have to wait long. I am glad we found this place. I am sure we will come back here again.

Medium seemed alright with me so I went for that, and I'm glad I did. It was the perfect amount of pressure. I weight lift at least 3x a week, and I was very sore and had a lot of tension on my upper back and upper thighs. She literally removed all the knots -- did hurt for a few seconds but I felt very relieved afterwards. Loved every second of it and would go back again. Very clean and organized salon/spa. Very friendly customer service -- attentive, and offered beverages while I waited (I was early to the appointment).
