I had this intermittent issue with the acceleration on my car. The problem kept happening, but never when I would bring it into service. Today it happened again on my way from work. I wanted to drive straight to a mechanic to see what the problem was. I saw these men standing outside, and I flagged them down. Their service station was already closed but they took time to help and explain to me what could be happening. It's sometimes hard to find a mechanic you can trust. But I can say wholeheartedly I would trust all of my car repairs with Great Kills service station. The young gentleman there Geo and Roman were not only patient and kind they took the time to look at my car when the service station was not even open and gave me great advice. I was driving around with a flat tire in the back for almost a year. I would add air to it and visit a tire shop every other month only to be told that there is no hole in the tire, yet the gauge would say the pressure is dropping daily. I thought maybe it's just the sensor, but my gas mileage for the car was abysmal, too. Anyway, after spending probably $200 in visits to tire shops to have them take the tire off, soap it up, and tell me there's no hole and charge me half price to air it up and put it back on, when I got a second flat on another tire I pulled up to this place. I'll be honest, the first guy said there's no hole either. Then, another guy came over, and it's been a few months now so I forgot the names and for that I am very sorry, but he spotted the hole in like, no exaggeration, in 1 SECOND. I'm talking about a tire hole that 15 other people couldn't find, looking for a combined hour or two. The guy saw it IMMEDIATELY. As fast as a blink of an eye. I can't convey the speed in a way that feels satisfying enough to me, that's how fast he saw it. Anyway, long story longer.. tires fixed, price super super reasonable especially for a change of a tire and 1 patch. I think it was something like $80. The whole thing took 10-15 minutes, plus they took me in just before closing time. Somehow I have a habit of showing up for auto repair right before the place is closing and the guys want to go home. Finally got the tire fixed, got a go to flat tire place on the island, didn't feel ripped off. Good stuff.

I sat in the waiting room area and Elson worked on the issue. After a few hours my car was repaired and back to normal. I recommend them to anyone needing repairs. This is now my Go To place for any repair or regular maintenance issue I need. Steve and Elson are really nice gentlemen that explain the repair or issue and how it will be fixed. This is after calling and visiting 3 other places that were supposedly open according to google, but actually decided to stay shut - likely because it had snowed fairly heavily. Anyway, I was lucky enough to get Elton on the phone who told me to come on in for my oil change and I got there 6 minutes later. First, he cleaned the snow off my car. Offered me a seat in the waiting room in the back of the shop. After fiddling on my phone for a bit, I decided to go and check on the status and just as I stood up off the chair Elton was walking in to let me know it was done. 15 minutes, maybe, for the oil change. Synthetic for a 2024 car - was $90. Reasonable. Not do it yourself cheap, but not outrageous either. Honestly, no appointment, weekend, bad weather, arrive and receive service immediately, friendly. I'm literally writing this immediately after leaving because they deserve the praise. Also, there was a beautiful.. I mean absolutely beautiful Chevrolet inside the garage, I'd guess from the 80's, but it could have been late 70. Heck, it could even have been early 90's, I have no idea. All I know is 20 years ago I'd call it a piece of junk but today I couldn't take my eyes off it. Funny how that happens. Anyway, I digress a second time. Hylan Auto Repair, Elton, thank you for taking care of this chore that I've had on my todo list for 2 months longer than it should have been on there. The mosque next door puts no mosque parking signs up in front of their shop since parking is atrocious around there. Unfortunately, even the non local congregants are super disrespectful. On Friday the 12th, there was one guy causing a scene with the shops workers and the mosques security. He couldn't understand the parking spots are saved as a courtesy and out of respect for neighbors.
