I had a visit there for my son a few years ago and as with everyone, I paid for my service at the end almost $400 as well as excellent insurance. he got a tooth pulled, no laughing gas, not put to sleep, just numbed. and now I am getting billed almost a $1000 saying I didn't pay! the are saying I got services I didn't receive. they are a scam and are trying to get over!!! read more

This places pretty much lives up to the reviews. They seem to be obsessed with up charging and pressuring you to do unnecessary work. I don't suggest coming here unless you want a simple filling to hurt you for the next couple months. I truly hated my experience at this place and will be looking further on for a better establishment. I will say that they are friendly people, but don't tell them you can't afford it. BEWARE!!!! I should have read the reviews. In June, I was treated for multiple dental issues. They insisted on paying more than $7k upfront. I made it happen. I happened to review the claim on my insurance website. They noted that my max out-of-pocket for the services should have been about $2k. I have been trying to get my $5k refund for overpayment from them ever since. They keep saying that they are appealing the insurance decisions. Insurance says they are done paying and that, as an in-network provider, they are bound to my max out-of-pocket costs. Surprising no one, they are still dragging their feet and we are nearly into October. They keep pressuring me to come in for the next phase of treatment that I have not paid for yet. I don't want to do business with people who scam their patients. I want my money back that I overpaid. My next calls are back to the insurance, my attorney, and a complaint to the state of Ohio. read more

I had five implants done by Dr. Sayer. They cost me $26,000 paid upfront one of the implants broke off and I swallowed the tooth so Dr. Sarah replaced it now that same implant is loose and he wants to charge me another $300 just to tighten it up after spending all that type of money, it's ridiculous. The workmanship should be guaranteed for a lifetime on something that you pay so much for I would not recommend getting implants done by this dental establishment. read more

The staff is very friendly but that about the only good thing. They charge an arm and a leg for very basic care. I got charged $75 for a "teeth consultation" or something along those lines and that wasn't anymore than the dentist talking to me. I don't feel like the cleanings are that great either. My temporary crown fell off 2 hours after getting home. Got that replaced and it fell off the next day in the evening. Called got answering service to leave message. Got a call can't do anything over the weekend but call if they can do anything else. I've had 5 crowns. NEVER had this issue. They have lots of DDS in the practice that could rotate weekends. NO EXCUSE Why have an answering service if you aren't going to do anything!! read more

My experience: You'll need to try to call few times to make an appointment. They tend to drag their feet in that it requires few phone calls and leaving message and still not get called back. Do not be surprised if they end your call after saying hold on. They are forceful on patients to have their pictures taken even if the patient asks for it to be taken another day. The only positive experience I had with this office is that they were able to see me on the same day as I called them-- and if the first patient exam wasn't complimentary I would be doing a lot more than writing a bad review. This dentist is billed as 'the dentist to visit if you are afraid of dentists'. They offer IV sedation for basic dental work, which is good. But their chair side manner? Deplorable. I expressed my extreme discomfort with visiting dental offices when I made the appointment, and at one point was in tears in the exam chair. The exam itself was so rough that I left in more pain than when I arrived, and afterwards I was told to wait in the room until the dentist and a treatment coordinator could see me. They proceeded to leave me, a patient who has made her discomfort with dentistry known, actively in tears in a dental chair for twenty minutes with both doors wide open-- so that I could hear the sound of every single dental tool actively in use in the office. It's a miracle I stayed long enough to see the treatment coordinator. I was then told that -despite a failed and extremely painful attempt to use braces to lower an undescended tooth in my childhood- they want to put me through the same painful and futile process again. This and my wisdom teeth extraction are the only way to 'restore mouth health', and the cost of this? $3000. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. This is not the place to visit if you are afraid of the dental chair. They don't give a damn about you. read more

I had an experience with a medical professional (not a dentist) that left me with ptsd when it comes to being in vulnerable situations. Going to the dentist now causes extreme anxiety and I have avoided it far too long. I had to have a tooth pulled at the Fairfax location a couple years ago. The girls who pulled the tooth were wonderful, but the dentist was really very condescending to me about my insurance not covering certain procedures and the fact I hadn't been to a dentist in many years. I left feeling very embarrassed and never went back. I thought I was alone until I saw the reviews. It really bugs me every time I see the commercials about how wonderful and caring they claim to be. I wish I could give zero stars, all they care about is money. Last year, I needed about $5k worth of work done and they wouldn't touch me unless I paid for it up front. I don't know a lot of people who can do that, especially during COVID. They do not offer payment plans. I left the office in pain and in tears. A year later, I got a bill in the mail for $2. I called to ask why and they said they don't send bills under $5 because they assume you'll be back in for more work/cleanings. I let the woman know that I haven't been back and won't be back because I had a horrible experience. All she said was "okay, I'll let her know". She didn't ask why, she didn't apologize, nothing. So welcoming and made everything simple and easy! I've always hated the dentist more than anything thanks to pact experiences, but just got my wisdom teeth taken out and can't recommend them enough. Got me in and out just over a week after I first reached out to them, with a consult 2 days after I called, and my surgery less than a week after that. First consult was completely free, and made me feel so comfortable and welcome. Every other place in the city was booked out for months even for a consult (and didn't offer sedation) but the pain was excruciating, so I'm so glad they had openings. I had never been sedated before, but they were so sweet and walked me through every step and made sure I was comfortable. Will definitely be coming back to them for as long as I'm in Cincinnati and recommend them to anyone in need of dental work! read more

Usually a great experience with cleanings (no complaints there), but when an x-ray showed that I would need a root canal with crown, they did the procedure and initially I was quite happy. Until the crown started to darken after about two months. (They had suggested the root canal as a permanent fix against darkening.) When I went in with a follow-up, they suggested internal bleaching and told me that would have to come completely out of pocket for me and took no responsibility for the ineffectiveness of the procedure. The staff is usually very kind and I've been very happy with them before, but this experience was very disappointing. I would have loved to see them make the situation right without costing the patient even more out of pocket. read more

This place really sucks. They give you a quote for a procedure and I paid it. Then I get a bill for over $1200. They said the insurance didn't cover the procedure. Any reputable provider would do a prior authorization with the insurance company to see what was covered but they don't. I am on disability and am pissed. Advance Dental SUCKS. read more

DO NOT GO! If you want to feel comfortable, this is not the place to go. If you go with a friend or family, they will single you out and not let them be with you. They do not explain the procedures well and do not give alternatives. All of the procedures are overpriced and they will recommend extra procedures that are not necessary. Worst experience ever... I was excited to have my front tooth crowned because it was discolored from a root canal down when I was a teenager. Advance dentistry was confident they could replace it without any problem and I would be happy with my smile again. I gave them the opportunity to replace it and now my front tooth is more grey than ever, bleeds all the time and it was poorly cemented where you can see the existing tooth between the gum and crown. It was the worst $700 (after insurance) that I've ever spent. Now I have braces and I'm looking at getting it redone the correct way which won't be paid for by insurance now. I think this place is very unprofessional and they do not take pride in their patients outcome. I do not recommend this dentist group as they are a waste of time and money. Well, I don't know why there are 26 reviews that don't factor into their stars, because otherwise they would have the best rating of any dentist. With this dental office, all they want is to make the world a better place, one tooth at a time. Everyone you meet is so friendly and smiling. You can tell they enjoy being at work and helping people. Every one of them interacts well with each other and the rest of the public. I chime in anytime I hear the word tooth, dental, or anything else so that I can save others from subpar customer service. Also, the dental work has to be the best ever. I have been 4 times, and I first went to them for the IV sedation to have my wisdom teeth removed. I've taken my kids twice now for their bi-annual cleanings. They love it too read more

I have never had a worse experience in my life. Dr. Donaldson does shotty dentel work. She crowned an infected tooth and refused to fix it when confronted. They do not explain work prior to doing procedures. They also crowned my toorh prior to checking to see that I had a 6 month waiting period. I had to pay for the crown in full. She was very RUDE and condescending and made me feel terrible. This place only cares about money. I do not recommended this business to anyone! RUN far away!!! Not a great experience. At my cleaning/exam, I was told I needed a root canal and I was escorted to the administrative assistant's office where she booked me an appointment for the next morning. After the appointment was booked, I prepaid $1100, as I was quoted that it would total about $1600 for the whole procedure. The administrative assistant told me I could pay the rest when the crown was put on. She was not very professional, in fact, she pulled up her own x-rays and showed me them and I'm still not sure why - I work in the medical field and it is a HIPPA violation to pull up your own records, but I'm not sure how that works in dentistry. The next day, I have the root canal and afterward I was in so much pain that I curled up in the chair - they told me I was finished and to come back in 2 weeks, so I scheduled the appointment. I then called to reschedule the original appointment because something had come up and no one could find my appointment to change it, I was transferred a few times with responses like "when did you say your appointment was?" "Hmm, I'm not seeing that, hold on one second" and "let me transfer you to the administrative assistant." I then received a direct conformation email from the administrative assistant about my new appointment day and time. Once that was settled I came back expecting to receive my crown and be done. Nope, they needed finished the root canal at that visit, this was not clearly communicated to me that I needed more work to finish it - I'm terrified of the dentist so more (unexpected) dental work is not fun for me. After the root canal was officially complete they fit me with a temporary crown and told me that they would call in two weeks when my crown came in. They told me I was up to date and didn't owe any money when I asked on my way out. About two weeks went by and I thought I hadn't received a call so I emailed the administrative assistant, since she had previously emailed me. She told me it was in and ready and that I needed to call and schedule my fitting. This confused me, so I asked why no one had called me. She responded that she had called me ten days ago (on a Saturday) and that my voice mailbox was full (very much my fault - I had no idea). So my crown had come in three days after my appointment even though they told me two weeks... they attempted to call me ONCE, on a SATURDAY, in TEN days. No email, though we had previously communicated via email. I was furious because the temporary crown was very uncomfortable and I wanted to be done with all of this. I called the office to schedule and they told me I couldn't get in for ten days. Then I received an email that said I could come in the next day at 8:30. So I show up and was called back and was told I needed to pay $573.00 - this felt a little like a shakedown for money. I had forgotten my checkbook since the appointment was made so last minute and asked if I could pay the next day because that is when I got paid and I work 10 minutes away. The girl told me she need to check with the administrative assistant I had previously talked to. She came back and told me I needed to pay at least $100 today, mind you I had paid $1100 up front before the procedure was even started. I paid the $573.00 with my credit card and had the crown put on and told myself I would never go there again. Now it has been about 3 weeks and I just received a check in the mail for $403.96, with no explanation. The only thing it says is "refund." So I was made to pay $573 dollars before I could have the crown placed but received $400 of that back. I'm assuming my insurance paid some of this and I was issued a refund but I guess I'll never know. The dentist and hygienists were great but this experience really stressed me out and I won't return to this office. read more

first made error in care to husband, then threw out service dog--shaky business ethics!! first they made a mistake on my husbands tooth issue, scheduling a crown on the top tooth--and then on day changed it to an extraction of a bottom tooth. then said they could not use a care credit card--said prob due to our bad credit --but we owe no one--i had to explain how to work the charge on a special machine they had available--with my instruction over the phone--yep the charge went right thru!!. then my tooth broke and due to covid i scheduled the extraction there. i use a service dog--have for 12 years. rarely have issues. we were immediately surrounded by kids and parents and other clients as he is a large red standard poodle--always a novelty. he is a legal legit service dog. being a dog at times he does communicate with woofs--they are not barking and limited to 2 woofs. not nearly as loud as his bark. first he warned me about the chaos of people near me--his job-- 2 woofs. i thanked him and continued filling out papers and answering questions--everyone around was so nice. the kids were dancing and playing dog and having fun. then i showed one of the kids a hand signal i use--my mistake as my dog saw it and answered as trained--2 woofs. i gave him the silence command immediately and he never made another peep. i was called into the office and told they were throwing us out for disruption of the practice--while staff were stopping by to tell me how beautiful he was and asking questions! then they demanded repeatedly i show proof--if they had decided to toss us out-- why care? i told her 3 times that violates the law--a law they had just quoted to me--but she said the owner needed to see it because service dogs are not allowed to be petted and should just lie down--so they knew he wasnt real and wanted proof... i did not have his badge as i was using it to complete paperwork for his international passport for an upcoming trip and had left it at home--never thought i would need it. i made statement under law that he was legal and what he did---they said didnt care--owner still needed proof. did that mean if i proved he was real service dog i would be able to stay--that he was not disruptive? he was never aggressive--he laid down in office as soon as he had space and was quiet as they did all the checking and admonishing. i used a walker so they knew i was disabled. asked when i was leaving and then said they had no available appts for nearly 3 weeks--2 days after i said i was leaving.... i suggested they move us to another area in waiting room and remind other patients not to bother us-- as not just my fault and i was trying to be nice to their other clients!. or put us in room until my turn. or ask us wait in car till they call that room ready. nothing pleased them or their old fashioned ideas on service dogs. i am human and make mistakes. there was no warning or forgiveness here--and it is a medical facility that cares about people?? Their clients apologized as i left. Even though i sent them proof of his legal legit card & ADA status as US Service Animal--they never said they were sorry! Lucky i found another dentist who extracted the tooth and it is healing. (He raved on my service dog as have other doctors, theaters, restaurants, disney world and more!) His international passport is approved! He loves Small World, Chef Mickey, and the princesses. Hopefully he will love the cruise. read more

They are very kind and polite at Advanced dentistry in Fairfax. I have to agree with one of the other reviews, that they are good for dental cleanings but not any other major tasks. I don't like to speak ill of companies, so I typically don't write negative reviews. However when it comes to ones' mouth or ones' cosmetic appearance it does become personal. I could go on about their miscommunications with monies or what is in the best interest for the client concerning financial options, but I won't. Because the money part I can get over, it's the lack of quality in their work that I can't get over! The first FLAG that was raised in my opinion is the visual of ALL the young staffing. It strikes me as a bunch of interns, which screams inexperience!! I chose to ignore this, since I am in my 30's and I like to "see the glass as half full". A year plus later and I'm not ignoring it anymore! A few issues listed: - Root canal and Crown on one of my canines 1) Temporary crown fell off within 24hrs, got it replaced and it fell off again within 3 days. I got it re-cemented and within days it was loose but got it done again before it fell off...3x before getting my permanent crown!! (keep in mind this is my front tooth and some new person each time I went in). 2) Filled a cavity and less than 12 months there is a small hole in that same cavity. 3) Another cavity needed done in the top frontal tooth near the canine. Within weeks my gum surrounding that area has turned black or darker. I am currently searching the web looking for another Dentist and came across Advance Dentistry in Fairfax and felt that I should share my experience. read more

Had all teeth removed and immediate dentures put in. Dentures are too big and there are a few spots that feel like bone trying to pertrude thru but won't. Spoke with this place several times and was told your dentures do fit and massage your gums the rough spots will go away. However it's been almost 6 months and now I'm being told I have to pay an additional $500 for a hard reline when I paid almost $9000 to begin with. There shouldn't be an extra charge for the dental work when I feel it wasn't complete to begin with. Now I'm dealing with dentures that fall out when I eat or try to talk or open my mouth. And sore spots from big bottom denture. read more

They said on the phone they would do the work they find that day, I went to a strange process and it was time to pull the tooth they said, Cant do it today. I refused to give them sensitive information, I think this is the reason I got treated as I did. But I had cash on me I was not going thru any insurance and they did not have that reason to have to verify me. Big companies Much larger than them has been hacked. They get X-rays in a proper place, I get back to the chair laying back , this lady Very nice lady by the way is shooting a gun down on me , Some of the X-rays had to have been getting close to my brain, Not once did they offer the protector lead cover for my thyroid, They even stood me up just two feet from the chair , against the wall and took a picture of me, I thought it was over kill out the ass, and they never did the work as promised that day, I care give for my Relative and cant be going out a lot, this is why I asked if they could do the work that day. With the picture and this from a company that lied and said the work the same day , the picture made me feel like they thought I was a criminal, I have been to a lot of dentists in my 60 years of life , never the picture or shooting X-rays at my brain. I hated Aspen dental for this same long lengthy process, they are them and have added dangerous X-rays and a picture of me, But lastly the lady with the dogs was very nice. Lastly the guy representing advance dental says I don't know why I think he said 26 reviews did not rate there stars, Other wise we would be the best dental place around or something like that. You have to put at least one star to post and they did rate there stars with only one, this person sounds like he is in complete denial there is a problem here, This looks very bad for them, it just insures what everyone on this site is saying , they dont care, I got lucky they did not keep there word and do my work that day, I probably would have not liked the experience.
