Was a looking for a good and honest chiropractor near me and stumbled across Dr. Johnson's office on a google search. After reading the other patient reviews I decided to book an appointment for lower back pain I was experiencing that wasn't going away. I can definitely agree with the other reviewers that Dr. Johnson is a great Doctor. His staff was very friendly and his office is very clean. Dr. Johnson really cares about his patients. He gave me a consult and helped me save money by bypassing the x-rays and only recommend we get them if my pain wasn't responding to treatments. After his analysis he thoroughly explained what was causing my pain and what he recommended for chiropractic treatment. He gave an amazing adjustment and within 30 min I noticed my back pain was about 90% gone. Dr. Johnson said to give the treatment a few days and them come back. He's not the typical Dr that keeps telling patients to come back to rack up visits. He only recommends what's absolutely necessary. I started coming to Dr. Johnson and he has provided top quality care and customer service. His skills and expertise have greatly improved my quality of life and health. Prior to coming to Advanced Chiropractic Concepts I had been dealing with a lower back and hip injury I sustained from squatting with a rounded back. I went in there with back pain, can't even walk well, the chiropractor told me can't do anything because it's inflamed. Told me to go home and take counter pain reliever then go back to see him couple days later. Came out with $170. Free consultation? They did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Seriously nothing. Dr. Johnson is good at what he does, BUT I was told that before he adjusted me I had to purchase a deep tissue massage from his in-house masseuse EVERY TIME because my muscles were too tense to adjust me AND I couldn't handle more than 3 adjustments in one session (and therefore often had to schedule multiple sessions per week). I moved to LA since seeing Dr. Johnson. My current chiropractor requires no x-rays, no massages and adjusts me 5-6 times every time I go in. While Dr. Johnson is a talented chiropractor that helped my pinched nerve, I now fear he was upselling me and making me spend much more than necessary to bring in more profit. DO NOT COME HERE. I went in for a consultation, said I needed to get an ultrasound to see what was wrong with me. Scheduled appointment, tech was not there so I had to reschedule again. Finally had my appointment, NEVER once received a call on the status of the report. I didn't call either since the pain went away on its own. I guess he didn't really need my business till I saw how many times he billed my insurance. Really $4575.00??? This is insane. This is why chiropractors have such a bad rap. I never even received any treatment and I am get charged almost $5k. This is robbery. Oh and the CPT code used to charge me was "fragmenting of kidney stone". WTH? Exam to head/neck/spine. Dr. Johnson just reminded me that I've been coming to see him for almost 3 years now. And that I should really think about writing a review. Go figure, I always write a ton of reviews on restaurants and hotels, but I totally forgot about my good ole trusty chiropractor! I've suffered from neck and lower back pain ever since my late 20s. I'm not even sure why. Maybe it's my work environment and the chair I sit in. I finally looked into going to a chiropractor and I went to a couple before I found Dr. Johnson and stayed. I'm now on the maintenance program for $80 a month where I get two 30-min massages and one adjustment per month. At first, I use to split it up and go once a week almost, but now I rarely have any back or neck problems. So I combine the two 30-min into a one whole hour massage followed by an adjustment all in one day. I look forward to it every month. From all the different chiropractors I've gone to, one thing always remains the same. You don't have to go see a chiropractor only after you've been in an accident. You should see one regularly! Think about it. Your spine is the main central nervous system that controls EVERYTHING in your body!!! Each nerve ending goes to a different point, and if that nerve is constantly aggravated or injured, that point in your body is going to start having problems as well. Terrible experience. Was in excruciating pain and called to make an appointment with Dr. Johnson. I was looking forward to the visit since dr.johnson had so many positive reviews. It all started with waking up with a stiff neck. I let it go for a few days but was in pain. I called the office to schedule an appointment and Julie answered. She asked me for my insurance information so she could call and check for my benefits. I called the office back a couple hours later to confirm my visit would be covered. I asked Julie what my visit would consist of, she said a free consultation and I could possibly need x rays depending on the consultation. I asked her the doctor could work on my neck and back the same day and she said yes. I was in so much pain and couldn't move my neck. I didn't have any previous injuries. My husband had to leave work early so that I could make my appointment. (Usually I have to pickup my son from the sitters ) I was looking forward to the visit because I thought my pain would be relieved. After talking to Dr. Johnson for 10 minutes he said I needed x rays and that he couldn't do anything until I got x rays. I asked if my insurance covered the x rays and he sent me back to his clerk Julie. Julie said I would have to pay 125.00 for the x rays so that he could help me with my neck/upper back stiffness. Keep in mind I was in pain and couldn't believe that Julie failed to check my benefits to see if my x rays were covered through HMO. She said my insurance claims department was closed and she would have to call in the morning, she said she could call in the morning and I could come back tomorrow. She also stated that I needed to wait 5 days for my family doctors referral. She said I might be covered for x rays through my level 2 benefits. I was already irritated and called my insurance company. They told me I wasn't covered through PPO only HMO. Julie assumed they were closed and only attempted to call after I asked her if she had tried calling. I left in pain, irritated and wasted me time. The worse part was that my husband had to leave work early so that I could get relief and I wasn't even able to get any help. Dr. Johnson didn't even touch or look at my neck or upper back, he didn't seem too concerned.I went to the ER the next morning because I was getting unbearable muscle spasms. I had to call out of work and go to the ER. I told them the chiropractor said I needed x rays. The ER doctor and nurse said I didn't need x rays. So basically I visited the ER for no reason plus I had to pay a co pay for going to the hospital. I called another chiropractor in the area and told him my story and the bad experience I had the previous day. He asked me if I had any previous injuries from a car accident or fall and when I told him no he told me over the phone that I didn't need x rays and said I could come right over for some treatment. After leaving his office I felt much better and my spasms went away immediately. My neck was still inflamed but I felt much better the next day from what dr. Garcia did to help me. He is very personable and made sure I felt comfortable. Really nice and knowledgable doctor! His practice is in upland. I decided to come here after an injury but the service is terrible. The lady in the front desk, I think Julie, doesn't check if they accept your insurance or not. Or I should probably say she is not doing her job. When I asked the third time whether or not my insurance got through, after getting excuses like she didn't have time, they said they'll call back, and she'll "do it tomorrow", she literally texted me saying "you can give them a call". I was surprised by her behavior that I stopped going to this Chiropractic. Later find out it was a scam to make you come here without insurance. Tommy is cool. He is nice. The sessions are $75 for 10min~20min. He puts pressures your neck/back once or twice per session. Tommy is cool. He is nice. But the first visit comes out to $145 for xray, consultant, and one pressure where it took about 30~40mins? After the sessions are $75 for 10min~20min. Anyway move go East West Chiropractic. They are better. I noticed a lot of reviews that talk about Julie being unfaithful about the insurance coverage. I've been going to Dr. Johnson and his entourage of professionals for 4+ years now and I still have only positive things to say about Dr. Johnson and his co. He's very meticulous about his approach to treating patients and that's what set's him apart from the rest. I entrusted my whole family, all involved in sports, in Dr. Johnson's care. Dr. Tommy Johnson is amazing! I started seeing him over two years ago after my daughter was born as I had a back injury going into the pregnancy that had never resolved. I have shown up 3 - 4 times with the same injury so bad that I could barely walk. After adjustment and some ice, it resolves nearly 80% within a day. Since getting into a routine of seeing him once a month, I've not had the injury recur. On top of that, I mentioned that my wrist had been causing me pain for months and a quick adjustment there had that feeling better. As to the massages before the adjustments, they are never forced on upon you. the reason he recommends them before an adij. some times is because you are so tight that if he adj. you before you would only be more sore in the end. He is very thorough in his explanations. the reason he asks for x-rays is to see what specific area in the spine needs work. you can only feel up to a certain point, if you think about it you primary doctor doesnt go off you symptoms he most likely will go out for blood work, well same goes for the x-rays. He will do multiple adjustments if you ask but his methods are precise to the area that needs work. He is not your typical "crack everything" doctor. completely recommend. I have only good words to say about Dr. Johnson, Elizabeth(massage expert) and Julie. Let me explain to you why...I have been suffering from lower back pain since I was 30. Before Dr Johnson, I tried two other chiropractors and the usual traditional western medical approaches to back pain management, including five different physical therapy programs. All of them gave me some temporary relief from pain, but I never really felt" normal". So I did what many of you probably are doing and that is take daily pain medicine as prescribed by my doctors only to mess up my stomach. How else could I make it through a day of work? I realized that Advil and all of the other meds out there were only a temporary fix. I knew there had to be someone out there that could help me and didn't want to give up even though I felt like it often. I was lucky to find Dr. Johnson. I will always have issues with my back and have accepted this. The difference is I can manage my pain and most days I am pain free. I go in regularly, about once a month for a massage and adjustment. It's worth every penny, which is no more than other places. My health is important to me and besides how would I enjoy life if I have to lay in bed all day? My husband, David, and I went to Dr. Tommy Johnson after getting frustrated with the services received from another chiropractor in Chino Hills. This was about 18 months ago and we have been absolutely delighted with the whole experience and the results since our first visits. Personally, I just need a monthly adjustment and have added a chiropractic massage right before each visit. What I really like about Dr. J. is that he brings out my x-rays and reads his notes before each adjustment, along with listening to how I'm doing before making a custom adjustment. Prior chiropractors I've seen did the same adjustments, each and every time, to both my husband and me. Dr. J doesn't do this; he believes adjustments should only be made where needed. I really like his approach - which he explained very clearly during my first visit. And with each visit I can ask him questions and he really takes the time to thoroughly explain how the body works. Plus, Dr. J. has a great sense of humor, which is also very important to me. I can feel that Dr. J. genuinely likes his patients and really wants to help people. And I feel GREAT after having a massage and an adjustment! I need to also mention that a chiropractic massage is much, much better than a regular massage, especially with Kathy! She is amazing at finding exactly what muscles need releasing and takes the time to relax my neck and shoulder areas completely. Heaven on earth - at least for an hour each month!
