I used Advanced to move my brothers baby grand piano to his new house. The pick up was nothing abnormal but the delivery location involved moving the piano to the second floor. After the first 5 steps the stairs have a tight landing with a 90° angle turn followed by another 12-15 steps. I called several other reputable piano movers (including the company that moved the same piano into their last house) and all of them assured me that they could get the piano up the stairs. I sent them all the same pictures of the stairs and then they all said that it could not be done. I was worried until I spoke to Joe. He looked at the pictures and described for me what they would be doing to get it up there. He showed up with 2 other workers and they had the legs off in no time. At the delivery location they slowly worked their way up the stairs and put the piano back together. Overall, the service was good and the price was fair. read more

Last week, I scheduled through text (per request) an appointment. He said he would be at the location between 12-2. I called him at 2:15, after I had someone sitting and waiting for him at the location. He answered and said he didn't have his helper with him and that he would have to make a few phone calls to find someone. He finally showed up to move the piano at 2:40. His helper had absolutely no idea how to move a piano and had a severe lack of professionalism. While at the storage unit, he received a call (which he answered on speaker) from another customer who had the exact same issue, and was waiting for him to show up. Her appointment was for 1-3, and he was still moving my piano. The customer service and complete disregard for other people's time is absurd. He did not apologize once for the inconvenience, and even tried to make it seem like our fault. Not sure where his good reviews from. Do not hire this guy unless you want your time wasted. read more

I know pretty much nothing about pianos. My husband plays a bit and mentioned wanting to take lessons and get back into it. I have been casually keeping an eye out for one that would not break the bank in case it became just another piece of furniture we never used. Quite by accident I found someone giving one away for free on the Nextdoor app. I have a truck so I headed over to get it, but my husband, and the couple giving away the piano, pretty much laughed at me thinking we could move it ourselves...onto a lifted pickup truck. Coordinating a bunch of friends became a bit of a headache so we finally decided to hire a professional. I requested quotes from multiple places on Yelp. Many of them charged by the hour AND had a minimum of 2 or 3 hours. Moving this free piano was getting expensive quick! We ultimately, went with Joe at Advanced Piano Moving because he had a flat fee ($150 for upright/$375 for grand) regardless of how long the move took or how far across town. Joe did an excellent job of communicating with us about when he would be available. Joe showed up not only on time, but a bit early. He worked quickly & efficiently at both locations. He took great care the antique piano & the areas he was working in. We were shocked that he did all of this heavy lifting solo, but obviously he knows what he's doing! Very disappointed in this business. Advanced Piano came recommended from a friend who used them and her parents had also used them. I confirmed a piano move with them this morning after needing to move a piano to assist in setting up a first floor room for a family member who is coming home from the hospital and will not be able to climb stairs. Advanced Piano agreed to be at the pick up location between 3-4pm and would give us a notification when they were headed our way. As you can see in attached photo, they never called to tell us they were coming, and would not answer the phone or respond to text messages to confirm if they were still on their way. We spent 2 hours waiting for them and no communication. Obviously they also never showed up to move the piano. Very disappointed as we needed to get this done immediately. Joe delivered my baby grand piano at the end of an interstate move and it was a great experience. He called to set a time frame, was able to come the next day, called 15 minutes before arriving well within that time frame, and he and his assistant (sorry I forgot his name, also a super nice guy) got my piano inside, unwrapped, and exactly where I wanted it in no time at all. Very personable and knows a lot about pianos. He's been doing this for a long time, previously worked for the biggest piano moving company in New York, and is a real pro. I've used this company twice, and he's overpriced compared to other movers, especially considering he hauls the instruments in a horse trailer. But this last move was completely unprofessional. Joe scheduled me at 3pm to move 2 organs, and didn't show up until 6pm. He wasted 3 hours of my time when I was in the middle of moving, and had no time to spare. I waited at my storage facility for 3 hours while he kept pushing up the time he would arrive. This also wasted 3 hours of the buyer's time, as I was selling those instruments. Joe didn't even apologize for the huge inconvenience, nor did he offer to reduce the charges to compensate for my time. To top it off, while loading they tried to drag one instrument, a vintage Hammond that was in excellent condition, and I heard a cracking sound. I will never use him again, and could never recommend his services in good conscience. read more

He even gave me extra time and help in order to polish the brass castors before he put them back on the piano. I am disappointed in this business. At first, I had high expectations, mainly from speaking with Joe about moving my upright piano down one story (2nd floor condo down to ground and into my rental moving truck). He explained how he moves pianos and the price was reasonable (he charged me $200). He and his partner did move my piano down to the ground successfully. This was last Friday (4/3/2015). What I am NOT happy about is the following: 1) he called me at 9:25am to say he should arrive at my place in a few minutes. 2) he texted me at 9:40am to say he forgot "something" and had to go back. In my experience as a professional, one does not "forget something" that is important in doing one's JOB. 3) we were waiting on Joe to arrive because we couldn't finish loading up our rental truck until after the piano was in the truck. 4) he finally arrived just before 11am. I paid him cash -- MISTAKE -- and forgot to get a receipt from him to claim moving expenses. I even tipped him and his partner. MISTAKE. I texted him an hour after he left, asking for a receipt. No answer. 5) I have STILL NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. I left 2 voicemails and 1 email over the past week and NOTHING. I just tried calling him again 5 minutes ago, but his VOICE MAILBOX IS FULL. NOT professional. Joe, if you read this, I am happy to revise this review pending acknowledgement of my attempts to contact you and a receipt. When I pay for services, I expect professionalism, just as I do in my own dealings as a freelance pianist and teacher. He then called me back after I had explained that I was buying a used piano and he gave me a couple of pointers. I experienced communication issues with Advanced Piano Movers but my piano arrived in good condition and for a reasonable price. Joe is eager to please and very pleasant to work with. However, it is possible that he can work his business so quickly that he misses important details. It was my first time hiring a piano moving company and Joe said that he had a flat fee of $125.00 for moving upright pianos. While I was looking to schedule the move for the next day or the day after that. Joe requested that he complete the move that night within an hour. I was pleasantly surprised. Joe agreed to pick up the piano at about 6:30 and move into my home. He requested that I text him the pick up and drop off addresses as well as the contact information for each address. I did so and included a text that stated that my unit was on the second floor. I was informed by the people I purchased the piano from that Joe left their home (in Summerlin NV) with the piano at 6:30. He was to deliver the piano to my home in Henderson NV. Joe was not responsive to my texts or voicemails. At 7:45pm, I still had not heard from Joe and was beginning to be concerned that the piano had been stolen. When Joe did return my call he proceeded to tell me that he had been to my complex, discovered that my unit was a second floor unit, and decided that he was going to return the piano to the original address because he did not have the right employees for a second story unit. Joe expressed frustration that I had not informed him that my unit was on the 2nd story (as he now stated there was an additional $100.00 fee for second story moves), and I clarified that he had not asked during our initial phone conversation but I did text him prior informing him of such. Joe's view was that it was the customer's responsibility to inform him of a second story move. My view was that it was my first time hiring a piano mover, Joe had stated he had a flat rate, and that it was the business owner's responsibility to obtain all necessary information in order to ensure that their business is run smoothly. After further discussion on the phone, Joe agreed to pick up more workers and have my piano delivered that night on the condition that the additional $100.00 fee was paid. The piano arrive safely and Joe was pleasant. As agreed upon, I stated that I was still willing to pay the full $225.00 because that is the amount agreed upon to get the piano to the home. However, I gave Joe the opportunity to discount the fee as he later admitted that he had missed the text and only read the bottom texts with addresses. I was disappointed that Joe did not discount the rate or take more responsibility as a business owner. I felt very uncomfortable with the lack of communication. However, I choose to hire Joe because he had so many wonderful reviews. I truly hope that my experience with Joe was a fluke. I'll let you decide. I spoke with Eric who was able to work with my schedule and promptly set up a pickup 2 days later. We were moving a baby grand (they charged a little over $200) and eric showed up when he said he would, within an hour of the expected time. We were also a longer drive from out in Henderson. It was him and another guy, and their 2 man team was able to professionally take down the piano in an incredibly short time span. They also picked up another piano before delivering ours, but again, with that amount of efficiency, I had barely gotten home to rearrange the furniture and they were at our front door. Other moving companies had quoted a 4 man team with at least 3 hrs costing at least $600. Do yourself a favor and go with this company. They know exactly what they're doing. read more

In early December 2016, I had two pianos moved to my new home. A Conservatory grand and a Suzuki digital. I was amazed and pleased at the price but what impressed me the most was how professional he and his worker were even while packing the pianos up. Would discuss what was going to happen and such without missing a beat. Very professional and arrived at the time we set up, packaged everything up with lots of padding. Now, usually I get very nervous with the larger Conservatory grand when it gets on its' side. Not this time. So many moving pads were used it would have had to be something very unusual to damage the pianos. The move was handled very quickly to the new place. We had to have a 100 year old Mason Hamlin AA full grand piano moved on a laminent floor and while doing so Eric discovered that when the movers originally moved the piano 15 years ago they failed to lock any of the three legs.Eric was able to catch this and correct the problem. The men showed up on time, and while they weren't talkative (that's okay - my friend and I talk enough for five people!) they carefully moved the piano, blanketed it, put it in the truck and brought it into my house. These guys were great! They did a big move for us, two grand pianos, and they handled them both with great care! They were both on time and friendly. We found it odd that when calling around the city to find a piano mover, it was so difficult to get anyone to call us back, really frustrating! As soon as we found this number, these guys were right on top of things; they answered and returned calls promptly, and were both friendly and professional. It may seem like a small operation, with this two-man team, but they are a BIG win when you need your piano moved! They handled our complex move (two grand pianos, one relocating in the house, the other to a new location) with professional skill and ease. (We got a little mixed up at first, but when we ironed things out of which piano was moving where, they handled it smoothly and with no grumbles whatsoever!)
