If he didn't have the right skill set, he should've been honest and charged only for a service call. A qualified appliance technician later charged $150 and corrected several serious issues: * Drain hose was too low, risking backflow * Dishwasher wasn't secured and tipped forward when the rack was pulled out * Electrical wires were capped but not boxed, which could be dangerous if exposed to moisture All of these were fixed at no extra charge, and the dishwasher now works perfectly. I went to my handy dandy guide Yelp to find a reputable plumber/plumbing company. I looked at a few companies and opted for WaterWork Plumbing based on their Yelp rating and location. They were rated a 4.0 out of 5. They were located in a neighboring city. I called on a Friday afternoon and was given an appointment for Monday. No problem! To my surprise, I received a callback that a plumber had become available and could come right then. I was excited to get my toilet situation addressed on the same day. Mark was the dispatched plumber. He was on-time, professional and knowledgeable. He was able to change my push button flusher to a traditional handle one. He also replaced the cap and hoses in the tank to prevent a future call. He even adjusted my water valve to the proper level to have the toilet fill back up quickly. At some point, someone had dialed down the water causing it to fill up slowly. Mark was the man for this day for me! It was the answer for the problem and he was able to eliminate future problems. This was worth every dime that was spent and they get five stars from me. I also have added them as a contact in my phone should I need their services again.

I called them and set up a time to have them give me an estimate and possibly do the work same day but they needed to get some parts so they came back first thing the next day. Everything was done quickly and he cleaned up after. Final cost was the same as the quote but there wasn't much left as a surprise since we had the wall demo'd out. Since it was originally a diy project I did have a lot of the parts bought already. So my only note would be let him get the parts you need so they are under his warranty. But he was upfront that any parts he used that were purchased by me wouldn't be covered and I was ok with that as they were smaller parts. Not sure how his prices compare to others because I needed the job done quickly but from the estimate it seemed fair with the labor involved.
