What a wonderful moving company! Showed up exactly when they said, packed the first portion carefully and put it into storage. Then came back a second time at closing and packed up the rest. Then combined both parts and moved everything out of state, arriving for unloading when they said. Placed everything where I wished, opened up high value boxes to be sure there was no damage, then cleaned up the mess before leaving. Nothing missing, no dents, no damage to furniture. This was an 11,000 pound move out of state and the only breakage was to one cut glass bowl. I consider that outstanding! read more

We contacted 3 moving companies for our local move. Only Advantage seemed to think it was a normal practice to provide a written estimate. Their estimates also are "not to exceed" amounts. As one of the reviewers said, there was no chitchat among themselves and only took a quick 5 minute break. What impressed me most was their ability to disassemble and reassemble my Balinese king size bed that had a super heavy headboard. Reassembly was done under an hour (the last time it took 1.5 hrs) ! Moved on November 22nd. Advantage arrived on time ready to work. We did a walk-through to establish expectations of what is to be moved and they got right to work. They were cautious and careful with all items. Everything needing protection was generously wrapped with protective blankets. The move in was just as smooth as the move out. They placed items where we wanted them and not one item was damaged. The entire process was 4 hours (we did all the prep packing of items to be moved). I had to move a three bedroom household twice in one year. Having a moving company who is on my side to get through the nightmare was vitally important. Both times, I used Advantage Moving and could not be happier with the whole experience. They have impeccable customer service and fair pricing. Their people are professional and seem to love their job. Hummm.... they are run by women... that must be the difference! I found Advantage Moving by doing some serious due diligence in 2006. I called over 10 companies from various sources of various sizes (mom & pop shops, one man ads, large global movers), met with five people and received three written estimates. I checked all the moving scam websites and educated myself on what to avoid and what to ask for. Of the three estimates, Advantage Moving came in right in the middle. I met with Lori from Advantage Moving at my place for an estimate. She listened to my situation, jotted down the possible scenarios (moving two households into one, moving some stuff into storage, moving some stuff myself), took complete inventory of my house on her laptop and printed out the "not to exceed" quote. As long as there wasn't any additional stuff to move, I could expect to pay no more than what was quoted. We then scheduled a moving date that was convenient for me. Advantage also provided a few used moving boxes for free. I felt good about giving them my business. On the day of the move, the crew showed up promptly. I found the inside of the truck clean and organized. All the guys worked together seamlessly and took care to put cloth down on the floor and around the door frames. They were fast and efficient with no chit chat. They asked before using the restroom and before taking a 5 minute break. The crew boss was very diligent in asking for clarification and taking inventory of storage items. Once everything was in the truck, we all proceeded to the new house. Then, everything worked like clockwork, only in reverse. At the end of the moving day, the total was less than the original quote. I was more than happy to give the crew a 15% tip. Fast forward one year to 2007, I needed to move again during Thanksgiving. It felt good to know I didn't have to worry about which moving company to choose. I called Lori up again and we repeated the process from a year ago. Everything was perfect except for one little hiccup; the crew got lost coming to the new place because I gave them bad directions. The drive time is calculated at double rate so this one hour delay cost me quite a bit. I talked to Lori after the move and they credited me the difference. No muss, no fuss. We needed quick and complicated action and this team came through with flying colors. We ended up selling our house much faster than planned, and had to move part of our furniture into storage while moving the rest into a rental unit. This team did a wonderful job of sorting and packing the furniture to make two stops and unload the right things at the right place. They were very efficient and took great care with our goods. Ours was a large household to pack and move, 750 miles CA to AZ, with 4 men all day for 7 days. Almost at 1,000 items on the inventory. We were very pleased with Brian and his team at Advantage Moving & Storage. They delivered on all counts, except the price - which in the end was 10% lower than the estimate. A week before they dropped off boxes, for items we wanted to pack ourselves. As scheduled they showed up to pack on time, and were very pleasant to work with. Most importantly they labeled each box with what was in it and which room it came from, occasionally drawing picture of the items inside. Without this unpacking would be unmanageable. Loading the trucks was an art, and there were no complaints when extra items were added. When the driver assigned to our move couldn't make it, Brian, the Co. owner, stepped in to drive 2 days himself. Unloading started at 6:00am as planed. And the job was not done until we were happy that everything was in the right place - something much more difficult than it might seem. Was the move without incident - no: one broken item, and a few misplace at their warehouse left behind. But there was no question that they would make good on anything that wasn't right. After interviewing six movers around the Bay Area we selected Advantage Moving for our move. This was a local move inside San Jose area. Brian came over on time for the estimate and was very thorough. His "not to exceed" price quote was the most reasonable of the bunch. Advantage was also very accommodating on the move schedule. Originally we had penciled in a Monday. However, another job came in and took Monday before I returned the contract. So they moved me to Sunday. This pushed our packing schedule a bit, but was much better than pushing the date out later into the week. Having enough boxes is a challenge when moving a 5 bedroom house. Chitra offered to let us come pick up as many boxes as we needed from their dispatch center in Milpitas. This was a huge time saver, not to mention also saving the cost of buying this many boxes. This review is 4 years overdue but someone recently asked me who I used and I recommended Advantage Moving and Storage who we used in 2014. This company was fantastic start to finish. Someone came out and looked at all our items, took pics and gave us an estimate that was more than fair for our move from Fremont to the Sacramento area. Not only was it fair, they deducted some money because they did it faster (I think that was the reason ) than expected so it ended up being $300 cheaper than estimated. I can't believe I used the same company these other reviewer's did! The estimator did a nice job of helping me understand how the move would go. I had a couple of requests about moving my piano and one piece of art that were damaged the last time I moved. He offered special care and promised the movers would know what to do. On the day of my move, the guys knew NOTHING about the special care that was promised. They took my piano apart with a hammer! They totally trashed the piece of art. I'm not mentioning the dozens of deep dents in wood of other furniture. I had explained everything to the moving guys the way it was agreed upon, but they completely ignored me. Then they proceeded to laugh and make fun of me in Spanish while I was standing nearby. Guess what- I speak Spanish!! When I contacted the first guy who gave my estimate he delayed and delayed, then told me that the movers said they didn't cause the damage to my property that was in the pictures I sent to him. When the guy stopped returning my calls I just decided to pay for repairs myself and save the pain of dealing with the jerk anymore. Find a better moving company than Advantage! read more

These guys were great - we've used them to move twice in the East Bay and both times, not a single thing was damaged, they worked quickly and efficiently and had a great attitude. We have heard and experienced moving horror stories ourselves, and if it's a few extra dollars trust me it's well worth it (and their prices didn't seem outrageous to me) since there's lots of ways that shady movers can squeeze extra money out of you. I recently used Advantage Moving to move from San Leandro to San Ramon. I read and heard numerous horror stories about moving companies in the bay area and was very nervous. However, Advantage gave me a price quote with a guarantee that they would not exceed it. Also - they don't charge for all the incidentals (tape, plastic wrap, etc) that the other companies nickel and dime you for and they wrap tv's etc. for free. Our move required two trucks and five workers and they moved all of the stuff with no damage to anything including the walls. The workers were all extremely professional and they even finished the job in less time than expected and the final price was below the guaranteed not to exceed price quote. Great moving experience with Advantage and Brian. I started a job-related move from California to Texas with getting quotes from multiple moving companies. I met Brian and thought he and his quote were great, but decided to go with another company because they said they were set up to work with my employer to make billing easier. The day before my scheduled move, the other company called me to tell me that they wouldn't be able to work with my employer directly, which was the only reason I went with them in the first place. I felt like they had promised me one thing, and put me in a tough position intentionally, knowing it would be nearly impossible to schedule another mover last second. So, I desperately called Brian and he made a miracle happen. He made the move happen the next day. The movers were very careful with and respectful of my things. I had forgotten to tell the movers about certain delicate high value items. When my things arrived on the other end, nothing was damaged at all, and they had specially packed the few items that I had forgotten to tell them about. We used this company several years ago. I decided to use them initially, because their price quote, though competitive, was the lowest. They also did not try to "frighten" us into using them by saying things like the price would go up if I did not book the move with them that day or saying that with the move only 2 weeks away it would be difficult to find another moving company to move us on the day we needed. They were punctual, meticulous, and efficient with both loading and unloading. The biggest pleasant surprise was they charged me less than quoted. The quote was based on the number of hours they anticipated the move to take, and the charge would be less if it took them less time. This was in writing, but I thought I would have to remind them. Instead when it was time to pay, they said it took them 2 less hours than they quoted, and I had to pay $200 less than the original quote. I would highly recommend them. read more

The whole moving process sucks immensely, but these guys made it as painless as possible. Advantage came highly recommended by the woman whose apartment we took -- she was moving out the day we signed the lease -- and now we'll recommend them to everyone we know. Our move was a hassle -- two people living separately, one in Oakland, one in SF, moving in together to an apartment in Emeryville. So all that heavy crap like beds, couches, etc.? We have at least two of each. And it was effing *pouring* all day. But Marcos and his crew were champs -- nothing but great attitude, efficiency, and teamwork. This is a family owned business and they treat the customers like family. I interviewed 3 companies for a whole house move from N CA to S CA. I didn't choose them for the price I chose them for their service. However, the price was VERY good. They came at the appointed times. Packed everything carefully and stored it for 6 months. The delivery at our new home in S CA was quick and on time. It's hard to believe but we had no damage to any of our things. I must say that most of the boxes were packed by us, especially delicate items. But, the guys handled everything with care. Moving is a very emotional event. Brian came to our house to give us an estimate to move a family of four from one house to another in Livermore, CA. He was very professional and offered a quote that ended up being pretty close to what we actually paid. On moving day two crews arrived with two trucks. The crews were very courteous and professional. They covered all of the floors and were very careful. Everything was loaded up without any incident. The crew was easy to communicate with and they understood our concerns and needs. At the new house they covered the floors and placed everything where we asked it to be. The amazing part was watching them move an enormous washing machine and pedestal up a staircase without incident! At the end of the move it took fewer hours than the estimate so we ended up paying less. I have had horrible moving experiences before but this was by far the best one I have ever had. Advantage Moving & Storage of MIlpitas moved my personal property this past month and damaged expensive Ethan Allen bedroom furniture, as well as, destroyed my desk - making it unusable, they scratched the floors in my new home and scratched our walls in the stairway. I called management and invited them over to review and access the damages, as well as, to have a discussion to consider options to remedy these damages. What I got was a lecture telling me the scratches on the floor and walls were there before I moved in. Really? I witnessed the move while these things happened. He told me to go out and purchase some glue for the dresser and desk. He suggested purchasing a bottle of Mr. Clean solvent to clean up the floors and the walls - GOOD GRIEF! As he was leaving, he told me he would talk with this team of movers and get back to me. This was three weeks ago and I have heard nothing from management and therefore, nothing has been resolved. STAY AWAY from this company. All they want is your money. Please shop for a company that cares about you after you moved as much as they seemed to care about getting your job! read more

I've moved a bunch of times unfortunately, and had mixed service from the moving companies, but these guys were the best ever. They were lightening fast, really friendly even at the end of the day when everyone was dead tired, took apart my kids' bunk bed and put it back together perfectly without me even asking them to do it, got every box where it was supposed to go, offered to move stuff back and forth, and really didn't seem to break a sweat.
