I took my 4 year old Forester here a few weeks ago because it was the closest dealership to me. My car was making a strange engine noise which made me afraid to drive to my regular repair shop. Although, I Had no appointment, I was warmly greeted by the service advisor, Sean. He listened to the car and called in a mechanic. They took the car in to the shop. After a short wait, the problem was diagnosed. I was told that the repair would take a couple of hours. While waiting, Ian, the service director, offered me coffe and spoke with me for a bit to pass the time. The repair was done is less time than I was told. I was thanked by Sean and the other service person, then personally thanked by Ian, who gave me his business card too. My car is running perfectly and I now I have a new place for service and a place to shop for a new car in the future. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. My mom retired at the start of the year and is now on a fixed income. She bought a 2018 Subaru Forester late 11/2024. The first week the battery was dead and other minor issues started cropping up. I regret that she did not inquire on voiding the sale at that point. Within 6 months the check engine light, A/T oil temp light etc. came on. She is being told she will need a new transmission for $6000-$7000. Her mechanic has been in touch with the dealership and Subaru discussing any assistance/recourse given the extreme and immediate issues she has had to no avail. Only 5500 miles has been driven since purchase. PLEASE DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE. If you do you might as well add 6-7K to your budget a buy a new or at least newer car from a respectable and accountable location. Or just make sure you won't have to actually drive the car you are buying. read more

I was recently in a serious auto accident in which my Forester was a total loss. Lynn at Adventure Subaru was fantastic in helping me get into another vehicle. We talked about a new Forester Wilderness and then a day or so later she called me just to let me know about two certified Wildernesses that had come into the dealership. Her call was to simply let me know, it wasn't about pressuring for a sale, just to let me know a way to save some money. The whole Adventure Team was helpful and understanding of the financial burden that comes with such an accident. The sales manager, Dave Eartly, offered me a loaner to use once I had to return my insurance rental and before I could pick up the new vehicle. The finance department made it easy to get the paperwork complete, all while dealing with a new computer system. They allowed me to drive off the lot with my new car with simply a deposit while we waited for the funds to be transferred for my down payment. Very nice people. Very helpful. I had both rear wheel bearings replaced on my 2015 Outback 2.5. They found a couple other issues that were then replaced under Subaru Extended Warranty (my regular warranty expired at 36,000 miles, I currently have 183,000 miles on it.) Downside was I had to leave the car overnight as they did not have those parts they replaced for free under the warranty, as they did not expect it. So they gave me a free loaner. To top it off, the cost came in under the quote I was given! Very happy with their service. I will go back there for sure! read more

Here is my adventure with Adventure Subaru. In 2020 I found the Subaru Legacy sport that I was looking for, but it was not on their lot. That other dealership would not budge on the price. I called Adventure Subaru and let them know that I was looking for a particular model. They obtained the car from the other dealer and after I drove it I told the salesman that I wanted his absolute best price. He gave it to me and made the sale. Fast forward to 2023. In January it was time to trade the Subaru sport, just because it was time. This time adventure Subaru and the legacy touring XT that I was interested in on the lot. They worked up a great price for my trade and the out the door price was what I was looking for. Lynne Elkins worked out all of my STARLINK issues before I left the lot. (You can buy a Subaru without STARLINK but why would you?). I'm going back for my free first oil change, so hopefully the service department has there A game going. I'd like to say the service experience was as good as the sales experience, but it was painful in Painesville. My parents chose to buy their first Subaru from Adventure Subaru (AS) because of the rapport built with salesperson Dan Parker. Dan was great and assured them that anytime there was warranty service needed on their Subaru, 'AS' would be able to accommodate them with a loaner vehicle. This was huge, because they live an hour away from the dealership. So, when my parents had an issue with their new Subaru in December 2021, they contacted the dealership and informed them of said issue. However, because of the uncertain weather over the next few months, they would bring it to 'AS' in the Spring. You see, they are an older couple and prefer not to travel long distances when the weather is bad. Forward to early April 2022, they made an appointment and drove the 2 hour roundtrip to take the vehicle to the dealership this past weekend. No loaner available. Of course we are all aware of the vehicle shortage out there due to the pandemic and the current administration, but it was disappointing for them. When they were informed that the vehicle was done, my parents drove another 2 hour roundtrip to get it. When they asked for an alternative to 'AS' not having a loaner, such as a gift card for gas (it's currently $4.09/gallon), my parents were told NO by someone named Jim. Not... "Hold on, let me see what we can do for the inconvenience." Just NO. My parents are in their more senior years, and it's a toll for at least one of them to make such a hike to get service on a vehicle. I'm disappointed in the lack of customer service from the Adventure Subaru service department, when their sales experience was so positive. I hope this review is helpful to other consumers, and maybe even Adventure Subaru management. Customer service goes a long way in the world we live in anymore, and an offering of a $25 or $50 gas gift card to an elderly couple on a fixed income certainly wouldn't break the bank for successful car dealership. Their service center is awful. They told me there is nothing wrong with my car and all Subaru windows leak and cause the window to freeze over, no they were totally wrong and I showed the guy that the window froze and got stuck right after they checked out the car and magically he told me he knew what it was and that they needed to order a part to fix it. If you are going to half ass your job and then say you checked everything our then may be you shouldn't ever work at a car repair service center. This place blew up the Radio/Navagation on my 2018 Outback Touring Edition. They replaced the Radio/Navagation with the wrong one. When I picked up the car the radio squeaked. I took the Vehicle back in to for them to tightened the Radio up. When I picked up the Vehicle they said they did not hear any squeaks. They also turned on my lane assist and all they did was put my Vehicle on a alignment machine. I went over there to complain and they asked me to leave. I left and a half hour after I got home the Lake County Sheriff Deputies showed up at my door. I told them about my nightmare at Adventure Subaru and they told me to call the BBB so I did and I called Subaru America. I also had front end issues that they could not find so I took my Outback to another Dealer in the County. They had to rebuild my steering box. And the space in back is large enough for my 100 lb. yellow lab! My husband called adventure Subaru to make an appointment to have a remote start installed in his car. After many times of speaking to different people all was set. He was told it would be a total of $248 and the appointment would take 2 hours to have this done. I go & drop off the vehicle before it opened and left the keys in the drop box, filled out the paper and wrote the reason for todays visit was to have remote start installed. I get a call saying the car was ready for pickup. Sean asked what proce I was quoted. I then told him my husband was told he had to pay over the phone and we already paid 2 weeks prior. As I'm on the way Sean calls again not able to find record of any of this. I finally get there and pull up my bank statement showing him the charge from Adventure Subaru. He made a phone call trying to figure out and then decided to go over to parts to talk to George. Myself and another man walk over to parts to also speak to George. He explains that my husband never asked to have remote start put in and only asked for a key and 2 key faubs. I told him that didnt make sense as my husband KNEW what he wanted. My phone was near dead so I couldnt call my husband to talk to him about it before I just signed off on it. George refunded me for a portion of the charge being $90 and then told me it was actually a total of $629.So we were actually charged $779. We were told $248. I asked George how long it's supposed to take to install remote start in a vehicle. He said 2 hours.. I said well, if you guys are saying my husband never asked for remote start on the phoen when you guys quoted him $248, why was he told it would take two hours then ?? He didnt say anything. During the scheduling of the appointment my husband was quoted the $248 total cost from a girl who is new & didnt know what she was talking about.My husband could have installed this himself, but he has limited time to do so & was calling around for quotes.He called was advent Subaru. They said the price & he went with them. Had they have been honest, he would have declined. To top this off, as I was leaving and about to pull out of the parking lot, I was then flagged down by the employee telling me that they never programmed the keys and I needed to come back so they can do that. He said " they will try to charge you, but for everything you went through I won't let them". So they job wasn't even completed. I spent about an hour and a half there when I was told the car was ready to be picked up. I had to find someone else to get my 7 year old off the bus because of this. Why was the programming of the keys not done ? Why were we misquoted ? Why did you guys then try to cover it up by blaming it on my husband saying he never asked for remote start install ? To cover your own asses. We are disputing the charges and will take this as far as we need to. My husband called you guys and spoke to a very rude manager named Rick who only pawned my husband off to George, someone who doesn't even have the power to fix anything. I was called a few days later to ask about our experience and was told Rick would call us back and, would you look at that. He never did big suprise. If what you are saying is true that my husband never asked for remote start to be installed and that's not what you guys had written down... and you only installed it because of what I wrote on the lock box drop off sheet, why would you not call us to say "uhh hey we have an issue.. etc etc" ?? This place is the most unorganized dealership we've ever had the displeasure of working with. I would NOT recommend this establishment and will be following up with the BBB and corporate. Weeks before replacing four tires on my Impreza I received a quote from George Brandon (professional and helpful) at Adventure Subaru and he quoted me a very good price during their buy three get one free promotion and this price included mounting, installation, balance and tax. Eventually, I scheduled to have the service. I was not interested in the alignment since the car was serviced elsewhere. I also informed them that the necessary maintenance had been completed for the 60,000 mile mark just a couple of months ago. Toward the end of the work, Service Advisor "DJ" for Douglas J. Keener, (unprofessional and pushy) informed me that two of my lights were burned out and that the front passenger side tie rod was busted and my rear wiper was "shredded". I agreed to have them replace the lightbulbs (which I normally do) due to inclement weather. He was pushy about the tie rod but it wasn't something that I would pay not for repairing at the dealership. DJ also told me that I would have to replace BOTH because they came in a set. I was asked to sign a WAIVER because he felt driving the car as is was a safety issue. I was also informed that I needed an alignment Of course he gave me a quote on the cost of these repairs coming to over $1100. The next day I contacted my mechanic at Every Tire and Wheel and made an appointment to repair the tie rods and replace the wiper. The following week at my service appointment I was informed that it is possible to: (1) buy only one tie rod; (2) that the tie rods were fine; (3) that the alignment was just fine. I was then informed of the service necessary and talked trash about Adventure Subaru while those repairs were done. So, not only was the evaluation by Adventure Subaru fraudulent, when I reviewed the invoice I was charged with something called 'miscellaneous charges,' 'shop charge for repair order,' and tax, which was to be included in the total quoted by Mr. Brandon. Subsequently, I left a heated message on the general voice recorder summarizing why I was so pissed and haven't heard anything back. Now, I question if the light bulbs needed to be replaced. Today I am filing a complaint with the Ohio Secretary of State. Too bad that Adventure Subaru is not a member of the Better Business Bureau. read more

I wanted to look at a used car and before I can even look at the car or take it for a test drive, I was asked if I was ok with the price. If not, I can't take it for a test drive. I bought a new car here in 2016. After that, I did receive maintenance service twice per year here. Once, after receiving maintenance service, I left their shop and drove my car on the road for less than 30 min, I found I could not handle direction well. I had to stop at the closest auto repair store to check. They found one tire almost fell off because the screw was not tightened. For the second time, I heard some weird sound and brought my car in. They said the two front brakes needed to be replaced . They told me the price was more than $500. The next day, I was notified the price would be more than $600. When I tried to retrieve my car, the front desk gave me the receipt which showed the price was more than $700. Later, the manager explained to me that they accidentally broke one piece of the car during the test driving. So I should take care of this extra bill because it might happen during the service. After discussion, they agreeed to remove this extra bill. When I went to shop to get my car, I was still charged with more than $600. For the third time, I brought in my car for the regular maintainence servce. They did not give me any notification in advance and charged me around $700 for maintenance service . They explained to me later it was full maintenance service. For the fourth time, I couldn't start my car. They checked it and told me I needed to change the battery. I trusted them again. I changed the battery in this shop. After one year, my battery was dead again. I called them, they said I changed the battery in Sep,2010 based on their records (I bought the car in 2016). So the battery lasted for 1 year 3 month. Because I used it for 1 year, so they could not refund me whole price. They only can refund me small portion of the battery. I will never trust this store any more. read more

I requested a quote online through newcars.com. I recieved 6 automated responses from the dealer saying they would help with all my questions. I reiterated that my only question was for a quote and told them I didn't appreciate the impersonal spam email. They argumentatively defended their spamming and still didn't provide a quote. I told them that I was walking away and that they didn't need to follow up. They rudely and hostilely kept replying by email; it really is a place where they have to get in the last word, and it's not a polite last word. I literally received a one line response to my request to be left alone, "Good, we wouldn't want your business here anyways." So I tried to contact the sales manager about the harassment and the absolute tell off I got from a sales staff member (Alison Shaynefelt - avoid her). No response for 10 days. I forwarded her rude emails simply as a courtesy so they would know this type of behavior was ongoing. Jeff Young the sales manager didn't feel it was worth even an apology. Apparently, as you will see from my exchange with the owner, that not only do they find this behavior acceptable, but they condone it, all operate in that manner and absolutely do not care about your buying experience. After the sales manager ignored me, I decided the owner (Evan Fineberg - avoid him as well, he's clearly the ringleader) should probably know his sales staff acts like a pack of mafioso baboons. I mean if you owned the dealership and you paid the staff their salary to sell you cars, wouldn't you normally be alarmed that 1) a simple quote request led to harassment and NO QUOTE and 2) that they literally told the business to go elsewhere. I'm pretty good at math, but I was willing to pay for a car, the employee gets paid to go to work, so unless his employees pay for the privilege of working at the dealership, I'm pretty sure sending buyers away is bad business. His response: sorry you feel that way, but you're being difficult. I asked for a quote, apparently that's difficult for them to provide and work with. I showed him the emails where I was rudely told they didn't want my business since I didn't want to be spammed and I just wanted a price and the chain where the sales manager made no reply. He told me not to threaten him, that he would take his reputation and ratings over my reputation any day (apparently he knows me) and that his dealership was the best in the area (which we can all clearly see by the ratings here in addition to mine, that that is not the case). His explanation for the behavior towards me: there are always two sides to the story and his staff had a different story about our exchanges. Even if that weren't a complete fabrication, this dealership clearly thinks you should walk into their showroom, do exactly what they say to do, ask for nothing, get spammed with a lot of junk mail, and then be thankful for the experience. This dealer could not miss the ball more completely on the #1 rule of sales, "the customer is always right". This is clearly not an isolated circumstance and I would highly recommend you take your car shopping business elsewhere. I had recall work done in August 2020. My mechanic that I've been going to for over 15 years couldn't take care of it since it was a recall. I was working from home then and have not used the car much until March of this year. Last night, I flew in to Cleveland airport only to find my battery was dead. Got AAA to give me a jump and this morning took car to my regular mechanic. He told me the battery in my car was not the battery he sold me a year ago. Somehow, my battery got switched. When Adventure did the recall work, they did not need to go under the hood, the work was done via my dashboard. WHO took my brand-new battery? When I called the service manager this morning he said they can take no responsibility and since the tech didn't have to open the hood, they are not able to help. The technician who did the work is no longer there. My feelings are he switched out my new battery for the POS that is there now because NO ONE else every works on my car. So while I am stuck buying a new battery, word to the wise: CHECK your engine, especially the battery, before AND after having any work done at ANY dealership. Stay away! Adventure Subaru's service department is operated poorly. I was told it would take 1 to 1.5 hours for an oil change, tire rotation and detail. 4 hours later they gave me my car back having never touched the inside. The inside of the car was in the same condition as when I gave it to them. They didn't even attempt to run a vacuum or steam brush over the carpets or floor mats. What made this experience worse is the treatment I've received from the service manager Ian. Ian was rude, unapologetic and unprofessional. He told me he would give me a full refund but on one condition - to never come back again. I agreed. I will never go back to this dealership and will be sending a formal complaint to Subaru. I have been very happy with my Subaru and would hate the car to get a bad rap by some of the people who represent them. read more

I have never done a review before but I am so upset by this experience I would not want anyone to have the same ordeal. Customer service - horrible. Just picked up a new vehicle and was handed my keys. Asked if someone could review the vehicle- had to wait for about 20 minutes and they sent out the receptionist to go over my vehicle- I asked if car was to have a full tank of gas- per the invoice- was told I only get 1/4 of a tank of gas. I wanted more information and help on setting up the Starlink features - was told I didn't have that even though my invoice shows my company paid $299 and I have it for 3 years. Unfortunately it is still not set up because Adventure Subaru Painesville does not have the pin and is giving me the run around to call my company, call Subaru, call fleet dept, etc. I considered purchasing a Subaru for my son, however I will never even consider it after this experience. I have never been treated so unprofessionally. I work for a company that provides fleet vehicles (which I am very fortunate) and I had the choice between the GMC Terrain and the Subaru. I made the wrong choice and should've known better when I went to look at the vehicles to make my decision. Found this dealership online with what looked to be good prices. I spoke with their Internet sales manager, Brian, and we emailed back and forth about a couple of cars we were looking to purchase for my wife and daughter. We had the makings of a deal, and I decided to make the nearly 5 hour drive and close things out. Brian told me he would not be there on that Sunday, but asked me to mention that I had worked with him. After making the 5 hour drive, I met a man named Craig, and mentioned that I had spoken to Brian previously. Craig spent some considerable time complaining about how Brian refused to work Sundays, and how it put a strain on the rest of the sales members. He complained of not being able to watch Browns football games, and even stated that his manager had told him not even to text Brian as he was considering firing him. After this bit of unprofessional behavior, things got even more unpleasant, as I found out the deal Brian and I had discussed, had somehow gone out the door. Craig expected me to pay nearly $1,000 more than I went there thinking I was paying. When I questioned this, he and another sales person on duty claimed there was no wiggle room at all with the deal they were offering. Craig even made the laughable claim that they were already losing $1,500 by selling the car for the listed price. Really, am I supposed to believe that they put their cars on their lot at that big of a loss and stay in business? Ridiculous! I have been buying and selling cars for a lot of years, and I have to say this is the most unpleasant experience I have ever had with a dealership. This dealership allowed an employee with a lengthy record drive a customer's car to his night school classes. The employee wrecked the dude's car. It was a 2015 with about 1300 miles on it. They claim it was from a deer, but why were they allowing an employee to joy ride around in his vehicle to begin with? Stay far far away. The customer has had to secure a lawyer because the dealership is trying to make his insurance cover it. A direct quote from the customer, who is updating in another forum: "The dealer is still pushing that my insurance should pay and then and only then will they "take care of me". Drove 65 miles from North Canton to view, what was billed as, a nice used Jeep. Amazingly, the vehicle had a low battery, nearly flat tire, and numerous non-working mechanical issues that were glaringly evident. I'd give them a negative star rating if I could. did my research while I was looking for a Subaru for my fiance that was in Ohio on business. Went by these guys dealership and they were very forceful on trying to make me buy her an outback when I kept saying she was a motor head. they assumed I was an idiot and didn't know what I was talking about. I kept telling them she wanted awd turbo wrx sti. I kept getting "your wife would love this car". my "fiance" would laugh at me if I got her an outback with me knowing she loves motors and fast cars. so, that being said. these guys are a joke. service manager kept saying he was giving me a deal on a 15 sti. I checked other dealerships for the same car. yep, service manager over priced the car by $8 grand. ef, you. took my business across town and then heard about the service rep that hit a dear and asked the customer to pay for it. they should shut this place down and send the service manager to jail. This place is absolute garbage.. The customer service is horrible the inventory is limited and overall was just a horrible experience. I would not waste my time with this place if I were you. read more
