Aegea's been serving burgers but now they're serving ZEUS BURGER! I've been seeing the menu pop up in my apartment complex so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the The Zeus and The Jalapeno Kick Ass for takeout. Both burgers were great. But my favorite so far was the Jalapeno Burger. Something about a smash burger with cheddar cheese and grilled onion just enhances the beef flavor so well with a kick delivered by the Jalapenos! The Zeus Burger was a standard double smash burger with American cheese, tomato, pickles and onion topped with their signature Zeus sauce. I also ordered their fries well done, (I like crispy fries) seasoned with salt and some herb spices. When you order a burger u can order it deluxe which comes with the fries and salad. I chose the Greek salad since that's a staple I always get from Aegea. The lady that answered the phone is always polite and answered all the questions I had about the menu. When I was heading back to my apt I saw the guy passing out their menu around the block. He saw me with my take out and told me I was going to enjoy the burger. And he was right! The best Greek spot in all of NYC and Long Island. I used to live in the neighborhood... grew up eating Fontana. This place quickly became my favorite after opening and since I have moved out to Long Island have never had anything as good. I still make the drive all the way there and back for Greek. Excellent service! I ordered the combo platter, gyro sandwich and it came with fries, a salad and a generous amount of tzaziki. I was assuming I wouldn't have enough tzaziki so I made a note for more and the owner gave it to me for free! We did curbside pick up with was super easy - the food was great. After many years of my parents and brothers ordering from Aegea West, I finally came around to making a review because of how consistently good the pizzas and the salads are from here. There aren't many other restaurants that are as consistent with the quality of the dishes and ingredients as Aegea, with dishes like their extra-large pizzas pretty much feeding our entire family for dinner that day (parents and two brothers included). I will add a follow up review when we next order a pizza from them again just for the pictures for size scale, frankly nothing beats it in value, at least locally from personal experience. And whenever I am in the mood for something different, you cannot go wrong with the salads and wraps, a particular favorite and really consistent one being the Douglaston salad/wrap, which has every single ingredient compliment the rest rather well, the chicken cutlet, the honey mustard, the mozzarella, the lettuce and the pita, it all fits so well together we honestly can't stop ordering that dish haha (picture below). This review is strictly for delivery. I've lived in the neighborhood for over 30 years and I've never tried Aegea until recently. I have no idea why. They've been around for at least 20 now. Ordered the gyro platter with mozzarella cheese fries on the side. Platter is a decent size but I've gotten more for the same price at other Greek places, like including a soup. Not a fan of the presentation. They put the salad with the gyro meat in the same dish and unfortunately don't ask what kind of dressing you want for the salad so they automatically put oil and vinegar. Or just red vinegar. Regardless the meat became strange to eat. I'm trying to taste the gyro meat and all I taste is vinegar. Ruined it for me. The cheese on the fries couldn't have been spared and the fries are just bleh. No holes to keep them crispy. Spinach pie was drier than a Christmas tree in March. I hear their pizza is more popular. Delivery driver was very nice, good energy. Will give them another try soon. read more

Since 2013, I used to order takeout and delivery from Aegea. The staff at PS811Q recommended their chicken or eggplant parmigiana sandwiches. However, the quality started to decline, and I had two instances where the parmigiana didn't sit well with me. I invited a colleague to try it with me, and we both got sick. I contacted Seamless for a refund, and after it was processed, someone from the store called and asked why I didn't contact them first. When I mentioned a possible problematic ingredient, their response was rude and disrespectful, calling my stomach weak. It's clear that the place is now rude, disrespectful, and of low quality. read more

My experience getting food from Aegea was a pretty good one. I got my food delivered and the service was great. They processed my order and cranked the food out of the kitchen in no time. There's a great variety of items on the menu, and some interesting fusions of different cuisines. I wanted to try them all, but I ended up getting the Horiatiki salad, gyro sandwich, pesto chicken pizza, and Aegea fries. The price totaled to ~$40 (for the food only), which I think is a reasonable and affordable price. My favorite was the aegea fries (I think their house fries) - they were well seasoned and perfectly loaded with cheese and bacon. The house signature sauce on the side was a nice addition as well. I also thought the other items were really good. The gyro sandwich was filled to the brim with a great combination of meat and vegetables, and put a stop to my hunger. The food I was most excited to eat was the pesto chicken pizza, and although I liked it and thought it was tasty, some aspects missed the mark. I couldn't get much of the familiar pesto chicken taste I was anticipating - most of the flavor was masked by a strong char taste in the crust. I enjoyed eating from Aegea and would recommend this place to anybody in the area craving Mediterranean food. read more

Aegea in Douglaston, is a Greek restaurant that happens to serve pizza. I wanted to try this place as we always drive by this area. We decided to eat in. Judging from the how often the phone rang and the bags of food waiting to be delivered or picked up, I think we made a good choice. We ordered two slices of pizza, a souvlaki plate, a gyro platter and a Greek salad. In totality, the food was above average. Three things stood out to me. The pizza was surprisingly really good, especially with the tomato sauce that they used. It was tart, in the old school way, and delicious. The souvlaki plate was also above average with tender pieces of pork grilled to perfection. As for the gyro platter, it was classic New York gyro, carved out of a giant gyro block. It was okay. What was very good about this dish was the side of tender bread and white sauce was included in the platter. It was so good, you could eat it on its own. I get the feeling that Aegea is generally a carry out or delivery restaurant as most of the business I saw was done that way. There is a small yet functional seating area, which is fine if you need to eat in. I would come again whenever I need a Greek food fix. I haven't tried the delivery method yet, but might because everyone else seems to do it! read more

We've known about this place for years, but have never made it a point to stop by and try it. Mostly because the location is a bit tricky being situated right on a busy intersection of Northern Blvd and Douglaston Pkwy. Very limited street parking, so perhaps best for delivery, or to have someone stand by while you run in for pickup. We personally never do delivery for pizza because we want to time it to have it as hot and fresh as possible. We ordered using Uber Eats because we had a promotional offer for credit. The Specialty Pie we ordered is their version of the Supreme, a little of everything. Honestly, for the price ($26.99) it's a really good value, as other local shops can charge $20+ for a regular cheese pie. We really liked their pizza. Good amount of toppings, though there was an overwhelming amount of green peppers and onions versus meats. Overall, good combination of toppings, nicely done chewy dough, just crispy enough of a crust. We have since ordered here several times, each time consistently good. I do believe their Greek options, such as Gyros and plates, are supposed to be the real standouts here. We'll have to venture in that direction soon. The guys that work here are friendly enough, and service is fine. We do wish that we could see them wearig masks and gloves when working with food though. Despite Covid measures having let up significantly, it's an added peace of mind for customers and a small gesture that can go a long way on the part of the food business. read more

Has a pizzeria vibe but serving Greek food. Very interesting combination. The place is clean and decorated nicely. Gyros pizza salads. Greek. Solid spot for pizza and wraps. Food was really fresh and made to order. Ordered the regular gyro and it was not drenched too much with dressing. It was equally balanced. The meat did however tasted a bit gamey. So if you don't like having such a gamey after taste..you might want to skip the gryo. Price wise it's a bit higher than where I usually go. But pizza is cheap, as it should be. The people making it seemed Greek, so I'm going to assume this is authentic. Right on Northern Blvd. This place is easy to reach if you drive. I do not usually update my reviews but this one is warranted due to the changes that Aegea has made over the last few years and the reasons why we stopped ordering from them. Since my initial review on here, the portion size of food across the menu has reduced and the prices have increased at somewhat unreasonable levels. This is mainly a place for takeout so $20 for a burger deluxe which includes a small portion of salad and a smaller portion of fries than what used to be provided is a little irrational. The sauces on the side that you get now (Honey Mustard, BBQ Sauce, etc) are in smaller containers than they used to be and you get charged extra for them. The wraps have also reduced in portion size / filling over the years. Shrinkflation is one thing but shrinking the size of the portions and increasing the prices at the same time is going to drive business away. I maintain three stars for this review because the food is still good and the delivery drivers have always been nice to us however this is simply not affordable anymore. read more

Cozy Greek place in Douglaston and conveniently located steps from the LIRR and Q12 bus stop. This place never disappoints. My favorite dishes are the souvlaki, gyro, and lamb chops. The lamb chops are a bit pricier than the rest of the menu but worth it. Grilled and juicy. They have a variety of seasonal salads, try the Douglaston one. Always fresh and flavorful. Their classic Greek salad is mixed perfectly each time with its house dressing. Portions are good for sharing as well. There's not a lot of seating as it's spaced like a mini cafe. You can always order via their app. There's a discount too for first time customers. Great for lunch and dinner given they are pretty fast in prep and serving. Nice local place. They also sell pizza, pasta and burgers but I prefer to stick to their Greek plates. Their pizza is OK but not the traditional Italian saucy and oregano kind. I like the owner and staff. I had ordered from Aegea West for a number of years as I work near by, but then stopped because of poor customer service . I recently started to order from them again. I love their salads with their house dressing and my mom loves their stuffed grape leave despite costing $21 for a salad I figured they are so good dispite, the cost. Recently, I was reminded why I stopped ordering from them. The customer service. After placing an online order of almost $50. I received a call from the manager complaining to me the customer that I "ask" for extra olives in the salad and they are not going to be put on because "I dI'd not pay for it ".. there is no option to add (for a cost) extra olives and when I asked how much to put extra olives he said $2 per salad for probably 4 extra olives, and also complained about my tip that I put on my card. I gave the driver a few extra dollars and inform the manager I will not be ordering from them for a long while. The delivery driver that usually delivers are super nice and give wonderful service. but the manager needs a lesson in customer service will not be ordering from them for a while. suggest that they add to add on items extra olives. read more

First (and last) time take out from this long term Greek style take out joint. Ordered a BBQ style hamburger which was basically inedible as the consistency of the burger meat was tough , dry, and tasteless. Also ordered a falafel sandwich which was drenched in sauce and limp greens. As far as falafel sandwiches go this was a 2 of 10 scale. Finally, the ordered salad with (again) limp greens , a tasteless dressing, scarce pieces of mozzarella, and every scarcer pieces of walnut. In fact, out of the entire meal the only decent tasting items were the fried chicken fingers, and French fries. BTW, all of this ran close to $80. Save your money and palates and go to a real Greek establishment. This is basically a cheap pizza pie joint and finger food outlet. read more

For a lot of the bad reviews, it seems the owner gets very insulted and will respond in a rude way so let's see if he'll do the same with this review, as well. When I got my order, they forgot my utensils I asked with it (whatever, no problem). I got the gyro platter which comes with a choice of a side and a Greek salad. They didn't give me any dressing for the salad which is also a bummer. The Tzatziki sauce was pretty runny. We have been ordering from Aegea West for a few years now and they never cease to impress. Their food is by far, the tastiest Greek food we've had in the neighborhood and surrounding areas! Their tzatziki is flavorful and garlicky, their garlic knots have a nice citrus zest, and their gyro is divine! Their pizza is also a favorite with the family and we love how there is a touch of oregano already sprinkled on top! More importantly, their food is always consistent, even through time. Their delivery service is top notch and almost always arrives at the exact time we want it! During the pandemic, they were great in serving us deals of family-sized meals that saved our sanity! We know that everyone's tastes will differ, but for us, this will be a treasured local family joint that will be fondly remembered! They now have a new (as of the time of this review) online ordering system that is all right (we liked the older one better) but there will be growing pains. I had a very poor experience with a delivery order from Aegea. The food was cold when it arrived and it was covered in an obscene amount of Tsatziki sauce, making it completely inedible. After calling the restaurant to let them know they had missed the mark (I understand these things can happen) the owner/manager was unapologetic, smug and somewhat rude. I have been a customer of Aegea since they opened. Only problem I had was after the fire when they first reopened. After tonight I will no longer be ordering from them. They won't take orders over the phone, forcing you to use their online site. Fine. I can handle that. I ordered a bacon cheese burger deluxe. Never had any issues. I bit into this burger and it just tasted wrong. I look at the meat and the inside of the burger is completely rare and the bacon is barely cooked. I call the place to let them know they sent me an uncooked burger and the girl who answered told me that that is how it comes and then proceeds to put on the chef. He asked what the problem was and I told him that the burger isn't cooked, he told me it's medium, when you don't specify they cook it medium. This burger is not medium and there is nowhere online to actually specify. He jokingly said "so that's why your pissed", so I said yeah when I order food I expect it to be cooked. The "bro said we'll don't order here again and hung up on me. I don't understand what type of people they have working here, these people have zero customer service. I got the lamb souvlaki platter with rice and honestly it was just alright. It was not the best Greek food I have ever had, but it also was not the worst. Some of the pieces of lamb that were on my platter were burned and just did not taste that great. The pieces that were not burned however tasted fine. The rice and Greek salad that came with the platter were also just alright. The rice was a little bland and the Greek salad would have been better if it was on the side rather than mixed in with the rice and lamb. I ordered on the phone and picked it up which was quick and easy which is always nice. However, for the price this food is just not worth it. It is a little expensive and for the price the food is just not worth it.
