I got the lamb souvlaki platter with rice and honestly it was just alright. It was not the best Greek food I have ever had, but it also was not the worst. Some of the pieces of lamb that were on my platter were burned and just did not taste that great. The pieces that were not burned however tasted fine. The rice and Greek salad that came with the platter were also just alright. The rice was a little bland and the Greek salad would have been better if it was on the side rather than mixed in with the rice and lamb. I ordered on the phone and picked it up which was quick and easy which is always nice. However, for the price this food is just not worth it. It is a little expensive and for the price the food is just not worth it. I stopped in for a gyro sandwich and was very pleased. The meat was thickly cut, not crispy, and very flavorful. Texturally, it was very different from the crispy, thinly cut gyro meat I'm accustomed to. The bottom line is that it tasted good. The tzatziki sauce was also a bit different from what I'm accustomed to, yet it tasted quite good as well. Aegea is a solid greek spot when I'm Douglaston. Very disappointed with my $40 order. I asked a small tzatziki sauce to dip the bread which comes with the Greek salad. Management said sauce is an extra $1 charge. Seems very petty and poor business practice to charge for this. I will not go back instead I'll choose Gyro Corner or WildFig which are both generous with sauces/dips. I placed an order for a Greek burger deluxe this evening. I have always supported Aeggea as my family and I are frequent customers of this restaurant. Tonight we were very disappointed. When I bit into my burger I noticed the meat was very red and looked rare. I do not eat rare meat and was nervous that the burger was not cooked enough as I was afraid of getting sick. When I called Aeggea to let them know, the manager came on the phone informing me that all burgers are cooked medium unless stated otherwise, that this burger was cooked medium, stated that these are good quality burgers, and asked me what I wanted him to do. His tone and response lacked empathy, seemed testy, and unapologetic. Instead of doing right by his customer, he chose to lose one which is a shame since we have been ordering for years. We appreciate fast service which Aeggea has always provided but we felt that this order was rushed. From the time that we placed our orders, the food was cooked, and delivered to us, was all within 15 minutes (which I believe is what resulted in the burger not being fully cooked). I was pretty disappointed about how the manger handled this particular situation, especially after informing him that we order from them all the time. read more

Our LAST order the driver delivered the wrong food & after an hour and 30 min of waiting, the employee/owner? fought with my husband on the phone when he told him he didn't want to take the food that was sitting at someone's house for a half hour...mistakes happen I get that but it's bad business to have the delivery guy tell you he's going to pick up your food from someone else's house...gross! I am a long time customer of Aegea and now I will never order from them again. Because I had a promo through seamless I ordered from them through there instead of through their ordering service. And upon arrival my shrimp kebab sandwich had my French fries inside the sandwich instead of on the side.... Tastyish. I ordered garlic knots and got sour garlic knots. There needed to be some salt on the knots. Some how the parmesan was there but did not taste like anything. Absolutely with out a doubt the worst pizza in the 5 Boroughs. Just got a pie delivered and it tasted like cardboard. The half with the mushrooms and onions was especially bad. Today I placed an order for my mother who cant leave the house, and the manager had the nerve to call and tell me he wouldn't deliver because the tip amount wasn't enough. Is that a joke? 1st of all, I dont have to tip at all, 2nd, thats really how you want to run a business? And then to top it off when i told him fine just refund the money to the card if you're not going to deliver and please provide me with a receipt he hung up on me. Had to call back 3x and still did not get a receipt, and got hung up on all 3x. Worst customer service I have ever experienced, they should be ashamed. These are difficult times for people. *3.5 stars* Aegea is like Greek fast food. Food is decent. I remember when they first opened the food was incredible, but over the years its gone downhill. They have an amazing "recession" deal, large pizza for 10 bucks. Appetizers are all good Avgolemono soup is meh, they make it with too much lemon. Gyro salad is really good (always ask for extra white sauce) Spinach pie is HUGE! thats your whole meal right there Wraps and gyros are okay. They tend to undercook the chicken, its really gross. I always tell them to make it well done. Falafel is pretty good. They make it really crispy. I HATE the fries. They always make them soggy. Owner is very nice and works really hard. You know, although I drive by on Northern quite frequently, I would have never found this place if a friend of mine didn't recommend checking this place out. The restaurant is really small, it's right across the street from CVS with a green awning over the front entrance. I'm a pretty big fan of Greek/Mediterranean food; I would say this is one of the better, cleaner, best bang for your buck type of place. We usually order the 2 or 3 meat combination platter which is more than filling; if you get a side dish, definitely is enough to split for 2-3 people. Combination restaurants usually do not turn out well. I'm not talking about 'fusion,' but stuff like Chinese and Mexican. Or Taco Bell/Pizza Hut. KFC/Taco Bell. However, Aegea breaks this rule with the weirdest of all, Greek/Pizza. Then again, I haven't had their pizza and don't know why I would want that in the first place. Their Greek food is quick, cheap, and delicious. The platter of chicken, gyro, or kebab are a great value. It comes with a simple house-made tzatziki. They also have refreshing salads. Whenever I go to Aegea's I always order a falafel sandwich and stuffed grape leaves. Both of which taste amazinggg!!! The falafel sandwich has the right amount of salad and falafel in gyro style pita break. It's very fulfilling. The stuffed grape leaves are also perfect (never too soggy or chewy). The pizza here is ok. I've tasted better but it's decent. I've also tried their plain pita bread with hummus. The hummus is fresh and taste really good. Pita is both soft and warm just the way I think pita should be with hummus. I'd recommend this place to my friends and will keep coming back for more good falafel. read more

The tzatziki sauce had virtually no flavor on my chicken gyro sandwich, though it was absolutely smothered in it and dripping. Looked like mayo. Buffalo chicken sandwiches (hard to screw up) were huge but tasteless, and the feta on the Greek salad was of poor quality, while the house vinaigrette was more a akin to straight up oil than anything else. By far my favorite take out place. It's located in Douglaston right on Northern Boulevard. It offers a variety of foods, each with fantastic flavor, quality and price. It very small but has a nice decor. They offer burgers, pizzas, salads, sandwiches, greek food, and a variety of sandwiches and wraps. I've only been disappointed by one thing offered here and that's the burgers. A few years ago, the burgers used to be soooooo great. The past two times i've ordered a burger I have been so let down. The first time they cooked my burger to a hockey puck and the second time I gave it a chance I was again let down. Bad luck I guess. Their gyros are fantastic. As other yelpers have stated, the meat is perfectly cut and has a great taste. Their chicken kebab has to be my favorite. I've never gotten a piece of chicken that was too dry or bland tasting. Their dressing is great along with their dressings. My favorite thing to pickup is the grilled chicken hero. It is so loaded with flavor with grilled chicken, cheese, tomato, mayo etc. So worth it. Keep in mind that parking isn't too great. It's very limited street parking with no parking lot. Yes, traffic officers love to give out tickets here. If you're looking for quality Greek food on the go, Aegea's the spot. The Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken is one of my favorite options on the menu. It's one of those great guilt free choices that's perfect lunch or dinner. The chicken is grilled to perfection; it isn't dry or charred. I also love the REAL black olives, sliced tomatoes, red cabbage and feta cheese; (although, I'll admit they've started to skimp on the feta). The dressing is really, really good and the portion is huge. Even the small Greek salad could be eaten in two sittings, so with that said, the price isn't too out there. And, it comes with this warm and sinfully delicious pita bread that I have to try my hardest to resist devouring, but if you're not watching your carb count or waistline, the bread totally compliments the salad. I prefer take out over delivery, and while the restaurant has some seating, the tables tend to fill up quickly, so you're better off eating your meal at home. Parking around Aegea is also a major pain, so be sure to have someone wait in the car when you go to pick up because there are a ton of cops cruising around, just waiting to ticket you, even if you're away for only a few minutes. read more

Never really tried their entree but hoping to order soon. Price is okay(around $20 per special large pie), but just make sure to order around hour before. I've been going to Aegea since just after they opened. Foursquare says I've been here something like 80 times in the past howevermany months. Yeah, I love the food. I started coming for the convenience, kept coming back because of the salads. The seasonal salads are thoughtfully done. I'm a big fan of the Spring, and I like the Summer and Winter too. I skip the Fall, but I can understand why people would like it. I just don't do apples. I always top with grilled chicken, sometimes with tasty pork. I love the staff, and they always treat me well. Never seen whole wheat pita bread before, especially not that hot and fresh. Great gyro platter. So much meat, and comes with a small Greek salad and a choice of rice or fries. Such a good deal. Love this tiny local "to go to" Greek restaurant. It's more like a pizza place in atmosphere. I go there quite often and grab a small table for two and really really enjoy a casual bite. 1. Greek salad... Amazing dressing! Plentiful! 2. Hummus with warm pita as well as whole wheat pita. Delish and quite a generous portion. 3. Pita Pizza! Better than thin crust pizza..I love the spinach and feta. Price is so reasonable too! Tonight I noticed that the name is a Palindrome....meaning the name of the restaurant is spelled the same frontwards and backwards. I highly recommend this for a quiet very casual meal.
